:00:00. > :00:00.Utterly adorable. Time now for a look at the news as

:00:00. > :00:07.seen across the United States a couple of hours ago, in ABC World

:00:08. > :00:14.News with Dianne Sawyer. Welcome. Burning outrage for the

:00:15. > :00:19.passenger plane shot out of the sky as evidence closes in on Russia. The

:00:20. > :00:30.remains of those lost begin the long journey home. Burning up, the record

:00:31. > :00:34.heat and a giant fire incinerating houses. Texas sense in the National

:00:35. > :00:41.Guard to stop the search, many of their mother and children, pouring

:00:42. > :00:45.in. Flip`flop? How would you know Chris White before you buy the fixed

:00:46. > :00:46.at home, too you know what is hiding behind the walls `` how would you

:00:47. > :00:58.know ? Good evening. It is good to start

:00:59. > :01:03.the week with you. As we come on air, strange stories coming from

:01:04. > :01:08.Russia about the passenger plane blown out of the sky. Stories that

:01:09. > :01:13.seem to show the Russian government squirming as evidence points their

:01:14. > :01:16.way. All of this happening tonight as the remains of those on board the

:01:17. > :01:23.plane are beginning the long journey home. That is where we start with

:01:24. > :01:29.our correspondent at the crash site in Ukraine. The latest from

:01:30. > :01:32.investigators now. Finally, after four days of rebel

:01:33. > :01:37.obstruction and outrage at the scene, the professionals showed up

:01:38. > :01:39.today, a 3`man forensics team from the Netherlands joined by

:01:40. > :01:43.international monitors, still surrounded by armed rebels at

:01:44. > :01:49.bringing a bit of order to the chaos. Investigators have just

:01:50. > :01:53.arrived at the major impact site scattered here. They are taking

:01:54. > :01:58.pictures, walking around, getting a sense of what they can learn. The

:01:59. > :02:05.head, a daunting task, searching for signs of shrapnel or residue or

:02:06. > :02:11.tell`tale damage scattered across a 13 square miles site that is already

:02:12. > :02:14.compromised. Including rebels rummaging through the personal

:02:15. > :02:22.belongings of victims last week. Earlier, the Dutch team examined the

:02:23. > :02:27.bodies, 289 of the 298 on`board now recovered and stored in refrigerated

:02:28. > :02:31.cars in a local village. Tonight, the train left for Kharkiv, where

:02:32. > :02:36.identifications will take place. And then, finally, the victims will be

:02:37. > :02:41.flown home. Today, a Dutch mother captured the heartbreak of so many.

:02:42. > :02:51.When I am in my bed at night, I see my son lying on the ground. I see

:02:52. > :02:57.them in my head. At this Security Council, a unanimous vote including

:02:58. > :03:02.Russia, calling for an international investigation. The Dutch Foreign

:03:03. > :03:05.Minister visibly outraged. To my dying day, I will not understand

:03:06. > :03:11.that it took so much time for rescue workers to be allowed to do their

:03:12. > :03:16.difficult jobs. President Obama ratcheted up the pressure on

:03:17. > :03:20.Vladimir Putin to rein in rebels. Russia and President Putin in

:03:21. > :03:23.particular has responsibility to compel them to co`operate with the

:03:24. > :03:27.investigation, that is the least they can do. The rebels have had the

:03:28. > :03:31.black boxes, the flight recorders from the plane, four days. Tonight,

:03:32. > :03:35.finally, they have turned them over to Malaysian investigators.

:03:36. > :03:41.Everyone wondering what the bosses will show. It brings us to the

:03:42. > :03:46.urgent push for answers `` black boxes. Who took down the plane and

:03:47. > :03:51.why? What role did Russia play? Our correspondent with the newest clues

:03:52. > :04:00.tonight. In a setting reminiscent of Soviet

:04:01. > :04:10.Iraq commanders, what happened in the flight? `` era. The officials

:04:11. > :04:14.said Ukraine bomber was near the jetliner and could have shot it

:04:15. > :04:22.down. Current and former US officials called that nonsense.

:04:23. > :04:24.Every fighter pilot in the world probably burst out laughing when

:04:25. > :04:32.they were accused of shooting down anything. As was reported by the new

:04:33. > :04:36.Republic, Russian media is putting out more implausible theories. That

:04:37. > :04:39.Ukraine shot down the plane because they thought it was President

:04:40. > :04:44.Putin's official aircraft, or that it was full of already dead or these

:04:45. > :04:52.blown up by the US over Ukraine to provoke a war with Russia. Whenever

:04:53. > :04:56.they are caught, they make up lies to confuse people. The evidence

:04:57. > :05:06.tying Russia to the shootdown mounts from four different sources.

:05:07. > :05:10.Photographs Ukraine says it shows a Russian launcher in a village nearby

:05:11. > :05:15.before the shootdown. Then, a trail of white smoke after the launch.

:05:16. > :05:19.Electronic intelligence from US satellites showing the launcher as

:05:20. > :05:25.it turns on its radar to acquire the target and fires. Then, telephone

:05:26. > :05:27.intercepts said why US to be from Russian and rebel commanders.

:05:28. > :05:33.Catching their surprise when they learn it was a passenger jet, not a

:05:34. > :05:37.military plane that was shot down. Finally, video evidence of that

:05:38. > :05:40.Ukraine says shows the missile launch a sneaking back into Russia

:05:41. > :05:50.with only two of its original format missiles on board. As to the black

:05:51. > :05:59.boxes, the intercepts caught the Russians telling them to hide the

:06:00. > :06:05.black Ox is. `` boxes. Next, we turn to another big story. In Gaza,

:06:06. > :06:09.Israel wages a ground incursion to destroy the labyrinth of tunnels

:06:10. > :06:12.built by their enemy, Hamas. The White House warns Israel about the

:06:13. > :06:18.rising number of civilian casualties. People of Gaza are

:06:19. > :06:27.desperate, saying that nowhere, not even a hospital is safe. Evacuating

:06:28. > :06:33.the wounded from `` from a house, but from a hospital. A surgical ward

:06:34. > :06:37.was OK. Ambulances pour into the hospital to evacuate patients to the

:06:38. > :06:41.main hospital. There is a fear that hospitals are being targeted. At

:06:42. > :06:48.least four were killed. We went to see the destruction. It was hit

:06:49. > :06:54.again. Everyone is told to head downstairs. Staff took refuge on the

:06:55. > :07:01.ground floor. Civilians are doing out on. We are doctors and nurses.

:07:02. > :07:05.We are not doing anything. Israel said they were aiming for anti`tank

:07:06. > :07:12.missiles stored nearby. The strike was part of the offensive whose

:07:13. > :07:18.objective is to destroy Hamas's elaborate matrix of underground

:07:19. > :07:21.tunnels, some over a mile long. Israel using airstrikes and

:07:22. > :07:24.explosives. Those tunnels used by Palestinian militants to infiltrate

:07:25. > :07:28.into Israel. Attacking Israeli forces and killing four, bringing

:07:29. > :07:35.the total number of Israeli soldiers killed to 25. Including two Israeli

:07:36. > :07:42.Americans. This as the Palestinian death toll tops 560, including this

:07:43. > :07:47.morning, 24 members of one family, killed by Israeli shelling. And, a

:07:48. > :07:51.few hours ago, John Kerry arrived in Cairo to work with regional allies

:07:52. > :07:53.on a ceasefire deal. Both sides say they want one, but neither shows any

:07:54. > :08:07.willingness to compromise. Back at home, the heat. A new

:08:08. > :08:11.statistic about I'm a change. Today we learned that last month clocked

:08:12. > :08:16.in as the single hottest June on Earth since scientist started

:08:17. > :08:20.gathering records in 1880. 134 years ago. And in the Midwest, a lot of

:08:21. > :08:26.Americans were feeling it. Penn State under heat advisory. A slice

:08:27. > :08:37.of the country from North Dakota to Texas. And in Minneapolis, the dew

:08:38. > :08:43.point, which is amazed `` art measure of how muddy it is, was off

:08:44. > :08:47.the charts. In western Oregon, four separate fires merged, joining

:08:48. > :08:50.forces to become what the governor described as a fire storm beyond

:08:51. > :08:57.human imagination, four times the size of Seattle. Our correspondent

:08:58. > :09:02.was there tonight. Entire neighbourhoods reduced to ash, more

:09:03. > :09:06.than 1600 firefighters from across the country now on the front lines

:09:07. > :09:12.of this tends battle. What began last Monday as four small fires

:09:13. > :09:17.sparked by lightning exploded into a massive inferno, scorching more than

:09:18. > :09:20.380 square miles, four times the size of Seattle. Some of the

:09:21. > :09:30.clearest pictures of the fire came by drone. Flames levelled some homes

:09:31. > :09:34.but spared others. This man lost his dream home, purchased just three

:09:35. > :09:41.weeks ago. Trying to look on the positive side. I have been in tears.

:09:42. > :09:46.It has taken days for fire crews to get enough manpower. Now these

:09:47. > :09:50.Blackhawk helicopters are making strategic water drops, while cruise

:09:51. > :09:56.on the ground dig through the earth to build medical fire lines. And the

:09:57. > :10:00.military is pitching in as well. These aeroplanes seen in prior

:10:01. > :10:04.missions are standing by at the ready. All that is left at this

:10:05. > :10:07.burnt out home is the chimney. Or the first time, firefighters say

:10:08. > :10:11.they are making progress thanks to calmer winds and lower temperatures.

:10:12. > :10:16.But they say it could be weeks before the fire is fully contained.

:10:17. > :10:21.This fire in Washington State tonight. We now had to Texas, where

:10:22. > :10:25.the Governor says he is sending the National Guard to stop the surge of

:10:26. > :10:31.undocumented immigrants, many of them children, crossing the border.

:10:32. > :10:34.Today Rick Perry says that enough lip service has been heard from

:10:35. > :10:37.Washington. He is going to take action. Our correspondent is back on

:10:38. > :10:44.the story for us tonight. Governor Perry calls it operation strong

:10:45. > :10:49.safety, but critics say it is close to operation symbolic act. 1000

:10:50. > :10:55.National Guard troops over the next month, who by law cannot make any

:10:56. > :11:01.arrests, and will instead act as a visual deterrent. To be a force

:11:02. > :11:04.multiplier, to be there as a partner with law enforcement. The Texas

:11:05. > :11:07.general in charge confirms his troops cannot physically detained or

:11:08. > :11:14.send any immigrants back across the border.

:11:15. > :11:19.We are planning on referring and deterrent. And the weapons the

:11:20. > :11:23.guards carry cannot be used to stop illegal immigration. You're not

:11:24. > :11:29.allowed to fire on someone who is fleeting. All of which makes it

:11:30. > :11:32.clear the guard is not needed. I do not see the National Guard being

:11:33. > :11:36.particularly helpful in this instance. The problem is not

:11:37. > :11:39.detaining immigrants, they are giving themselves up. The problem is

:11:40. > :11:44.where to put them. Neither the Governor nor the guard could help

:11:45. > :13:07.with that today. Up next, we will show you what is hiding behind some

:13:08. > :13:13.And so now to Massachusetts, and an update on the fiery crash which

:13:14. > :13:18.injured five passengers riding in a hotair balloon. This weekend's

:13:19. > :13:22.accident caught on camera, and today two victims were treated for loans

:13:23. > :13:25.but released from hospital. The video shows them helpless as they

:13:26. > :13:32.drifted into exploding powerlines, and here is our correspondent.

:13:33. > :13:36.Tonight, a family is lucky to be a live, and looking for a answer is,

:13:37. > :13:43.after a weekend hot`air balloon ride went from idyllic to this. Look

:13:44. > :13:49.again. As the balloon hit powerlines, sparking a giant

:13:50. > :13:55.fireball. Residents below were unable to help. Then, seconds later,

:13:56. > :14:01.another explosion. Just moments earlier, the passengers, family

:14:02. > :14:08.members celebrating a birthday floating above the suburban streets.

:14:09. > :14:14.Where do you live? The balloon then crash landing in Dennis McDonald's

:14:15. > :14:20.backyard. We just held the people out, brought out towels with ice.

:14:21. > :14:26.Five of the six passengers were burnt. At least two severely. But

:14:27. > :14:36.incredibly, were able to walk away. The FA says it is investigating. ``

:14:37. > :14:40.FAA. And today in Washington, Ryan Pitts became the ninth living

:14:41. > :14:46.recipient of the medal of honour from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

:14:47. > :14:48.He and his platoon were in an isolated outpost in Afghanistan on

:14:49. > :15:03.their last mission before coming home. Taliban fighters attacked the

:15:04. > :15:09.Outnumbered platoon, and . He, wounded, kept fighting. He said the

:15:10. > :15:15.real heroes were the nine who did not make it home that day. Rising to

:15:16. > :15:20.the top of our Instant Index. Quite a scare at this weekend. They seemed

:15:21. > :15:27.to see something in the distance. And yes, that is the heading towards

:15:28. > :15:32.them. It is a great white shark, and it feels like the summer of the

:15:33. > :15:36.great white, because look at the map. We spoke to some shark experts,

:15:37. > :15:43.and on Cape Cod a loan, seven great white shark sightings the official

:15:44. > :15:50.start of summer `` alone. Next, sales of existing homes are on a

:15:51. > :15:55.rocket ride. Nearly 5% increase in May, the biggest jump in three

:15:56. > :15:59.years. More than ever, people are buying houses, just to fix them up

:16:00. > :16:05.and sell them as fast as possible. So what is hiding behind some of

:16:06. > :16:11.those walls. ABC it's Rebecca Jarvis with a consumer warning. Eric Mann

:16:12. > :16:16.hit the real estate jackpot. Buying this Brooklyn home for $1.2

:16:17. > :16:21.million. In just three days, he painted the walls, send the floors,

:16:22. > :16:27.added a chandelier, relisted it, and sold at million. Did you think you

:16:28. > :16:34.are lucky? Ill act I was extremely lucky. It is the wild world of house

:16:35. > :16:39.flipping. Lips are up 16% since last year and 140% in the year before.

:16:40. > :16:44.Erica Douville also thought she was getting the deal of a lifetime,

:16:45. > :16:49.eyeing it as is. `` flips. You walk into this house and the lot of nice

:16:50. > :16:56.stuff. On the surface it looked pretty good. But beneath, something

:16:57. > :17:01.her inspect thought she might find, tens of thousands of dollars of

:17:02. > :17:07.hidden costs, from loose wires to leaks in the sewer, and water in the

:17:08. > :17:14.basement. There was a veritable lake. Flippers are particularly good

:17:15. > :17:19.at surfers repairs and not the structural repairs which are

:17:20. > :17:23.sometimes needed. So she called in husband and wife flippers, who say

:17:24. > :17:28.there are insider secrets to spotting potentially bad flip. Make

:17:29. > :17:35.sure your dryer and heater are vented out of the house. Drilling a

:17:36. > :17:39.hole in the floor, so she had carbon monoxide coming back into the house.

:17:40. > :17:45.They say the electrical sockets should be about 12 inches above the

:17:46. > :17:49.ground, anything else could be a sign of old electrical wiring. This

:17:50. > :17:54.is a major fire hazard, you hit this wall and the whole kitchen would go

:17:55. > :17:59.up. And your switches should be on the wall and not in the moulding. An

:18:00. > :18:03.afterthought. Finally, separate hot and cold knobs may mean old fixtures

:18:04. > :18:09.were replaced, but not the old plumbing. While not all flips are

:18:10. > :18:12.flops, remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it really is. I

:18:13. > :18:23.will see you again tomorrow night. Hello there. Monday was a fine day

:18:24. > :18:33.across much of the country. Hello there. Monday was a fine day

:18:34. > :18:36.across much of There was barely a shower or thunderstorm around. In

:18:37. > :18:40.fact it is set to stay settled over the next few days. A fine day on

:18:41. > :18:43.Monday has led to a nice fine, dry night as well, with many areas

:18:44. > :18:44.seeing clear skies. Variable amounts of
