:00:00. > :00:11.Nanda was with more on the developing `` Adnan Nawaz will bring

:00:12. > :00:14.us more from Gaza shortly but first, a look at the news as seen across

:00:15. > :00:19.the United States a couple of hours ago, in ABC World News with Dianne

:00:20. > :00:24.Sawyer. Tonight, the moment a twister struck a major city. And

:00:25. > :00:29.bolts of lightning, with dozens of swimmers hit. Two Americans infected

:00:30. > :00:42.with one of the most feared diseases on earth, the bowler. The emergency

:00:43. > :00:55.`` ebola. And a shootout. Officers down, moving in on a fugitive, and

:00:56. > :01:00.acting on a tip from a TV show. Good evening to you on this Monday night.

:01:01. > :01:08.Brochures storm delivered a power punch today. Watch `` a ferocious

:01:09. > :01:12.storm. Watch as a tornado hit outside Boston. It hit fast and

:01:13. > :01:17.hard, and the town looks like a war is tonight. They haven't seen a

:01:18. > :01:22.twister since records again back when Harry Truman was president. Our

:01:23. > :01:31.correspondent is on the ground. The tornado barrelled through the town

:01:32. > :01:39.today. Powerful EF2 tornado in an unlikely spot. The Boston suburbs.

:01:40. > :01:44.This is the view this morning. The tornado packing winds of up to 120

:01:45. > :01:48.mph. It was just unbelievable, this happening in Massachusetts. I would

:01:49. > :01:55.expect it back home in Chicago, the Windy city, but not here. Across the

:01:56. > :01:59.town, two miles of destruction. Cars flipped over on the sidewalk. Main

:02:00. > :02:06.streets littered with pieces of your links. The train station parking lot

:02:07. > :02:09.looking like a pond. Pieces of building resting outside this gas

:02:10. > :02:15.station. It is not supposed to happen here. It is not Oklahoma.

:02:16. > :02:20.Walls missing and roofs ripped off houses. I have never seen

:02:21. > :02:27.devastation like it. I have been, the family have been here for 60

:02:28. > :02:29.years. Grew up here. Byrne we have no clothes, we have nothing. It was

:02:30. > :02:34.one of more than 300 reports of severe weather in the last 24 hours.

:02:35. > :02:38.And in Pennsylvania overnight, a water rescue. That is coming right

:02:39. > :02:46.towards us. Last night in Connecticut, and EF0 touching down

:02:47. > :02:50.for just over half an hour. Twisters in Tennessee flung debris through

:02:51. > :02:55.the air. More than 40 homes damaged. And tonight in Massachusetts, we are

:02:56. > :02:58.told that tornado went right through these backyards. The National

:02:59. > :03:01.Weather Service says this is the first confirmed tornado in this

:03:02. > :03:05.county since the agency started keeping records back in the 1950s.

:03:06. > :03:10.The good news is that nobody was seriously injured. That is really

:03:11. > :03:14.good news, and surprising looking at all that damage. Now we take you to

:03:15. > :03:19.this link lightning strike out west. Right on the beach in Southern

:03:20. > :03:26.California, sunbathers say they heard a crackle, and seconds later a

:03:27. > :03:28.giant bolt of lightning set an electrical charge through the water.

:03:29. > :03:36.Our correspondent rakes it down. warm and muggy day in Southern

:03:37. > :03:39.California. A pack of Venice Beach. When all of a sudden there was a

:03:40. > :03:44.lightning bolt and it is here and that over there as well. So it was

:03:45. > :03:52.scary. We now know it was four bolts of lightning striking the ocean. It

:03:53. > :04:01.was an incredibly loud flash like the bomb went off. The lightning

:04:02. > :04:15.killed a 20 `` 24`year`old swimmer. It shocked some, and shocked others.

:04:16. > :04:20.I was trying to get my had above water. You could see the storm

:04:21. > :04:25.coming just before 1:40pm. Almost an hour later, the storm was right over

:04:26. > :04:28.Venice Beach. The bulletin was issued hours before the storm

:04:29. > :04:33.warning of dangerous lightning. The odds of being hit by lightning in

:04:34. > :04:37.California are one in 7 million, compared to one in 400,000 in

:04:38. > :04:42.Florida, the nation's lightning capital. Exactly how lightning

:04:43. > :04:47.dangers breadth across water as in California is not well studied and

:04:48. > :04:51.mostly a meteorological mystery. On land, you can see in this photo

:04:52. > :04:56.illustrating that even one strike can be dangerous for people standing

:04:57. > :05:01.near. What we do know is that lightning can strike more than ten

:05:02. > :05:07.miles from the storm itself. So far this year there have been 16 deadly

:05:08. > :05:11.lightning strikes. To date, the average is 35, so we are actually

:05:12. > :05:16.below average. A check this out tonight, everyone, there is more

:05:17. > :05:22.coming. Flash flooding from the same type of monsoon storm. This outside

:05:23. > :05:27.of Las Vegas in rainbow Canyon. The concern is flash flood threats for

:05:28. > :05:31.six states from California through Colorado. There have been reports of

:05:32. > :05:35.tornadoes around Denver, and not just a south`west. The east coast

:05:36. > :05:40.also has severe thunderstorms up there in new England for the next

:05:41. > :05:44.couple of hours. And down across the south`east. So no one really

:05:45. > :05:49.catching a break until tomorrow. We will have out west again. We are

:05:50. > :05:55.watching this story as well, in California two raging wildfires in

:05:56. > :06:00.Yosemite National Park. Those iconic views blocked out by thick walls of

:06:01. > :06:04.grey smoke. At least one home has destroyed. 100 evacuated. A similar

:06:05. > :06:09.scene about 100 miles to the north where wildfires have joint to make

:06:10. > :06:15.destroyed 13 homes near Sacramento. We learned today that firefighters

:06:16. > :06:18.almost had to cancel their area that yesterday because somebody was

:06:19. > :06:23.flying a private drone over the fire scene, and it was a hazard for

:06:24. > :06:27.them. And we had around the world now to the Middle East, a day of

:06:28. > :06:32.tough talk and the little reality on the ground. A fragile pause in the

:06:33. > :06:39.fighting between Israeli and Palestinian is over, and tonight

:06:40. > :06:43.Benjamin Netanyahu told the Palestinian this could be long.

:06:44. > :06:51.Today in Gaza, a hospital took a hit. At Gaza city's main hospital

:06:52. > :06:58.tonight, anguish. Where are they, his sisters among the victims of the

:06:59. > :07:03.latest ghastly attack. This is where it hit, over here. An explosion on a

:07:04. > :07:07.busy street where children were playing. Kids are not supposed to

:07:08. > :07:12.see this stuff, let alone be the victims. Then the hospital itself

:07:13. > :07:17.came under attack. Another explosion just outside the outpatient clinic.

:07:18. > :07:22.We found the hospital rector almost in tears. It is painful for us as

:07:23. > :07:29.human beings, not as Muslims or Jews or Christians. Human beings. And on

:07:30. > :07:34.this, of all days, the start of Eid, the end of a month`long fast, when

:07:35. > :07:38.the kids finally felt safe enough to come out and play. The people here

:07:39. > :07:46.blame Israel. But Israel insists they were both, so rockets that fell

:07:47. > :07:52.short of their targets. `` Hamas rockets. Whatever the target may

:07:53. > :07:57.have been, this is a catastrophe. Children killed on one of the

:07:58. > :08:02.holiest days of the Muslim calendar. For these Palestinians it is more

:08:03. > :08:05.than an outrage. It is a call to arms. Tonight the Prime Minister

:08:06. > :08:11.issued his own call to arms. Addressing the nation amidst reports

:08:12. > :08:15.Hamas fighters managed to infiltrate Israel through a tunnel. Israel says

:08:16. > :08:19.one of the attackers was killed in a firefight. TRANSLATION: We must be

:08:20. > :08:24.prepared for a prolonged campaign. We will continue to act aggressively

:08:25. > :08:29.and responsibly. Not a statement that will win hearts and minds here.

:08:30. > :08:38.Tonight they should have been feasting. Instead there were burying

:08:39. > :08:43.children. And next we go to Africa, where tonight to make Americans are

:08:44. > :08:46.fighting for their lives, infected with the deadly Ebola virus. Friends

:08:47. > :08:56.and family in the US asking everyone to pay for their recovery.

:08:57. > :09:04.Tonight, the condition of the two American 's is deteriorating. Nancy

:09:05. > :09:11.Wright and Doctor Ken Pratley. In Liberia as medical volunteers. Here

:09:12. > :09:16.she is seeking workers heading into the E Bowler water. And, Doctor

:09:17. > :09:21.Brantley treated to treat patients `` geared up. You Bowler broke out

:09:22. > :09:27.in February and they chose not to leave `` Ebola. But to stay and do

:09:28. > :09:33.what he could, which didn't surprise us. It means taking extreme

:09:34. > :09:38.precautions. Not one speck of my body is exposed. Time inside is

:09:39. > :09:45.limited to minutes. Walking out, I was sprayed with disinfectant. In

:09:46. > :09:49.Liberia, that was Nancy's job. In this outbreak, the largest in

:09:50. > :09:55.history, 1200 people have been infected. Half have died. With

:09:56. > :10:00.Ebola, death can be gruesome. Some victims have internal and external

:10:01. > :10:04.bleeding. There are survivors. Harrison contracted Ebola from his

:10:05. > :10:15.mother and so did his family. Only I survived. My mother, father, sister,

:10:16. > :10:19.my niece and my daughter. So much concern around the world. People are

:10:20. > :10:24.worried about coming into the States through airports. Do you have to be

:10:25. > :10:31.worried? This doesn't come 80 through the air like measles or the

:10:32. > :10:35.flu. `` doesn't come at you. You won't get it walking through an

:10:36. > :10:40.airport. You need close contact. That is why healthcare workers and

:10:41. > :10:47.family members are at risk. You need close contact for this

:10:48. > :10:53.transmission? We turn to the dramatic shootout in New York. US

:10:54. > :10:56.marshals in a showdown with a suspected child molester, the

:10:57. > :11:03.suspect featured on a popular crime show days earlier. We learn the show

:11:04. > :11:09.and its host, John Walsh, may have played a role. Our correspondent has

:11:10. > :11:16.the story that when the Mac. It was a gun battle in broad daylight. ``

:11:17. > :11:21.has the story. A police detective was shot while attempting to arrest

:11:22. > :11:26.this man, the man wanted for molesting a seven`year`old boy. He

:11:27. > :11:30.fired upon the officers at close range and the officers returned

:11:31. > :11:36.fire. The shots rain out after 1pm in one of the busiest neighbourhoods

:11:37. > :11:41.in New York. The offices are expected to recover. The suspect was

:11:42. > :11:49.killed. He had been featured on CNN's programme, The Hunt.

:11:50. > :11:55.Authorities say the broadcast led to hundreds of tips. One lead them to

:11:56. > :11:59.him. On the run for two years, officers tracked him from

:12:00. > :12:07.California, where he skipped bail. They dealt with AT the door

:12:08. > :12:11.situation. Split second decisions `` and incredibly difficult situation.

:12:12. > :12:16.White 71 were killed nationwide in 2014. The night is another reminder

:12:17. > :12:23.of dangers in the line of duty. `` 71 were killed. Up next, hotspots,

:12:24. > :12:28.the travel alert for anyone heading on summer vacation. The irresistible

:12:29. > :12:33.free service that might make you a target for thieves. And, will this

:12:34. > :12:38.become the most expensive house in America? 100 car garage at a two

:12:39. > :13:55.lane bowling alley, we take you inside. `` and our two lane.

:13:56. > :14:01.Now to the tragedy on a Florida beach where a plane crash landed,

:14:02. > :14:06.killing a father. The pilot survives. New details about him and

:14:07. > :14:11.the answer to the question of how the family on the ground didn't hear

:14:12. > :14:14.something barrel towards them. Our correspondent spoke with

:14:15. > :14:25.eyewitnesses. The frantic moments after this plane crashed into a

:14:26. > :14:36.The plane slammed into this man and his

:14:37. > :14:44.They performed CPR on him. He tonight, his daughter is in a

:14:45. > :14:50.critical condition. We also learned the pilot of the plane was head of a

:14:51. > :14:54.survey company. He took off from a tiny airport nine miles away. He

:14:55. > :14:59.reported mechanical failure before swooping onto the beach.

:15:00. > :15:04.Eyewitnesses say that with the surf and wind and the fact the plane

:15:05. > :15:08.engine might have cut out, the man didn't see the plane coming. He

:15:09. > :15:14.probably didn't hear it over. By that time, experts say the pilot had

:15:15. > :15:17.little control. You won't see someone walking on a beach until the

:15:18. > :15:25.last second. The ability to pull up isn't a. Unlike the family, the

:15:26. > :15:31.pilot and his passenger walked away unhurt. Next, a travel alert about

:15:32. > :15:36.summer vacations. A big resource on the road for anyone is free Wi`Fi

:15:37. > :15:45.making it easy to go online. We learn that free offer can be eight

:15:46. > :15:50.wrap for thieves waiting. `` a trap. It is summertime and you are on the

:15:51. > :15:53.move but trying to stay connected, logging on to free Wi`Fi in hotels,

:15:54. > :15:58.restaurants and airports. What you mightn't know is that if you log on,

:15:59. > :16:05.you could be rolling the dice with your privacy. I have 260 networks

:16:06. > :16:11.and we have travelled what... We are cruising the streets of New York,

:16:12. > :16:17.scanning for Wi`Fi. Wait many of those networks are unprotected. I

:16:18. > :16:20.can see their instant message conversations and the photos they

:16:21. > :16:25.share. This man is a security specialist. He says many people are

:16:26. > :16:30.hacked while accessing free Wi`Fi. When we talk about a coffee shop or

:16:31. > :16:36.computer store, offering free Wi`Fi, a hotel even, is it safe for me to

:16:37. > :16:41.get on? It is easy for an introvert `` intruder to see what you are

:16:42. > :16:47.doing. . A hacker could see your banking online. Free is nice but you

:16:48. > :16:54.pay with your privacy. Chester says hackers set up fake Wi`Fi spots to

:16:55. > :16:59.entrap you. In moments, he sets up a free network he calls, free public

:17:00. > :17:04.Wi`Fi. In less than five minutes... I have three androids and two

:17:05. > :17:09.iPhones. Users are logging in. Criminals will pretend to be a

:17:10. > :17:13.famous coffee shop, or hotel. Nothing stops us from going into a

:17:14. > :17:20.star barks, setting up free Wi`Fi that says, Starbucks free Wi`Fi.

:17:21. > :17:24.Nothing. Jester didn't pick on those who but, someone with bad intentions

:17:25. > :17:29.could. Something to think about if you are a tempting to save money on

:17:30. > :17:36.data roaming charges by using free Wi`Fi. People don't understand. I

:17:37. > :17:40.didn't know exactly. Here is what use your cellphone data plan instead

:17:41. > :17:45.of free Wi`Fi. It might cost you in the short term, but it is so much

:17:46. > :17:48.safer. War, consider paying a monthly fee for a virtual private

:17:49. > :17:55.network which includes information and allows you to use free public

:17:56. > :18:00.Wi`Fi if you don't have it, assume Wi`Fi connections are being used by

:18:01. > :18:04.thieves `` Or. That was a surprise for everyone.

:18:05. > :18:10.Today, we learnt there is a house that could become the most expensive

:18:14. > :18:20.White House, and our correspondent had to take you inside.
