:00:00. > :00:00.like currency and the economy which will decide this referendum. Time

:00:00. > :00:13.now for a look at the news as seen across the United States a couple of

:00:14. > :00:23.hours ago, in ABC World News. Is the US getting ready to launch air

:00:24. > :00:26.strikes against militants in Iraq? By hurricane about to slam into

:00:27. > :00:32.Hawaii, the first hit in more than 20 years. And another hurricane

:00:33. > :00:38.right behind it. Windows boarded and tourists stranded tonight. The

:00:39. > :00:46.moment at that front door. The man who shot a young woman through the

:00:47. > :00:51.door. He said he was frightened. She was looking for help. And look at

:00:52. > :01:14.this video. So many have seen this animal in the neighbourhood. Is it

:01:15. > :01:18.for real? Good evening. Tonight, we have learned the US military is

:01:19. > :01:25.poised and ready to strike against militants in Iraq. A US humanitarian

:01:26. > :01:31.aid mission is already under way, the US working to get supplies to

:01:32. > :01:34.families on the ground in Iraq, families trapped with no food and

:01:35. > :01:38.water in the mountains of northern Iraq. US planes have been flying

:01:39. > :01:46.low, with military protection at the moment. Today, the president spoke

:01:47. > :01:56.of the real dangers and risks involved in flying over a hostile

:01:57. > :01:59.region. Thank you for joining us. Good evening. If the president

:02:00. > :02:05.decides Americans are under threat in Iraq, the US military is ready to

:02:06. > :02:09.strike. Militant fighters are on the move, taking over key parts of the

:02:10. > :02:16.country, parts where Americans could be in danger. Tonight, American

:02:17. > :02:22.military strikes are a very real option. Those militant fighters are

:02:23. > :02:26.taking control of Iraq and are now threatening the capital of the

:02:27. > :02:31.Kurdish region, where America has a key outpost with military

:02:32. > :02:36.consultants and a consulate. If the militants threatened, a US official

:02:37. > :02:43.says that the US is ready to strike. Tonight, a humanitarian mission is

:02:44. > :02:49.already under way. Three cargo jets are tonight dropping critical aid,

:02:50. > :02:53.food and water. It is a race to stop a catastrophe. At least 10,000

:02:54. > :02:59.people, families who have fled the top of a mountain, now collapsing

:03:00. > :03:04.from blistering heat pleading that there is no water, no bread. Nearly

:03:05. > :03:08.20 children have already died. They are trapped on top of this mountain

:03:09. > :03:13.3000 feet up with no escape because down below, Islamic State

:03:14. > :03:21.terrorists have taken over their homes, warning of slaughter if they

:03:22. > :03:26.return. It is barbaric and stuffs `` disgusting. We are seeing religious

:03:27. > :03:31.and ethnic minorities persecuted because of their identities.

:03:32. > :03:36.Dropping food, water and medicine into this hostel environment is a

:03:37. > :03:40.complicated and dangerous mission. `` hostile stop Islamic State

:03:41. > :03:45.fighters have surface`to`air missiles and other firepower. We

:03:46. > :03:51.have to go in low and slow because we will push the supplies out of the

:03:52. > :03:55.back of the aeroplane. Beyond threatening that key city, Islamic

:03:56. > :03:59.State has taken control of the largest dam in the country, the

:04:00. > :04:04.source of elected city and water. The US military is watching all of

:04:05. > :04:08.this extremely closely and has all of the necessary warplanes in place

:04:09. > :04:14.if needed, which could put the US right back in a combat role in a war

:04:15. > :04:20.the President Ford had ended. Thank you.

:04:21. > :04:25.You could almost `` the president had thought had ended. Thank you. It

:04:26. > :04:40.was weighing heavily on the president today. The terrorist

:04:41. > :04:43.threat to the city of Erbil. It is strategically important and there

:04:44. > :04:50.are American personnel there as well as a US consulate. When there was

:04:51. > :04:54.trouble in Baghdad two months ago, the US took those diplomats out of

:04:55. > :04:59.Baghdad and put them in Erbil because it was considered safe. The

:05:00. > :05:04.president says protecting American personnel overseas is his top

:05:05. > :05:07.priority. That may mean he will have to do what he has long avoided

:05:08. > :05:17.doing, which is calling in military airstrikes in Iraq. A giant

:05:18. > :05:21.hurricane is barrelling towards Hawaii and will kick in the coming

:05:22. > :05:28.hours. And behind it, another hurricane. Nearly 800,000 Americans

:05:29. > :05:34.are in the past. Hawaii has not had a direct hit in 22 years and now two

:05:35. > :05:49.of them. On the ground, people are bracing for impact. The shops are

:05:50. > :05:53.empty and bottled water is all gone. There is a state of emergency

:05:54. > :05:57.tonight. They are closing the beaches and we are already seeing

:05:58. > :06:05.wind up to 25 mph. The weather is about to take a dramatic turn for

:06:06. > :06:08.the worst. Tonight, the hurricane is packing powerful winds, myself and

:06:09. > :06:15.heavy rains, all aimed right at Paradise. Not one but two hurricanes

:06:16. > :06:20.bear down on Hawaii. Schools are closing and shelters opening. The

:06:21. > :06:24.Governor has the National Guard on alert. We are prepared for immediate

:06:25. > :06:30.response and have resources in place. For these holidaymakers from

:06:31. > :06:36.Seattle, the timing could not be worse. We are getting married on

:06:37. > :06:40.Saturday. The plan is to be married on the beach at sunset. Across

:06:41. > :06:46.Hawaii, they are scrambling to get ready. Plywood across Windows. Long

:06:47. > :06:52.lines for gas and supplies like bottled water has already sold out.

:06:53. > :06:58.We have three five gallon drums that are empty. These shop workers have

:06:59. > :07:04.been forced to improvise in the absence of sandbags. They were all

:07:05. > :07:09.sold out. We have to use duct tape. We hope it will slow the water down.

:07:10. > :07:14.They say their wedding will happen, even if the ceremony gets moved to

:07:15. > :07:24.the hotel lobby. It will not be a problem. These hurricanes are our

:07:25. > :07:29.best man and our bridesmaid. After the first hurricane, the second one

:07:30. > :07:35.will strike a glancing blow in the next few hours. We are told it has

:07:36. > :07:53.never happened before. Thank you. 22 years since they hurricane and now

:07:54. > :08:00.not one but two. Yes. Iselle is the first and Julio is coming behind.

:08:01. > :08:03.Iselle is stronger than Julio. We thought it was interesting to look

:08:04. > :08:12.at the topography and the two volcanoes. From midnight local time,

:08:13. > :08:17.the wind will reach 58 mph across much of the island. That is why we

:08:18. > :08:21.have a hurricane Island on the big Island and tropical storm warnings

:08:22. > :08:24.back off to the west. The biggest impact will be flash flooding,

:08:25. > :08:30.mudslides and rain as well as some of those wind gusts. Rain could

:08:31. > :08:34.reach up to 25 feet. Meanwhile some pictures out of Illinois. They got a

:08:35. > :08:41.lot of rain very quickly and some flash flooding. More details in a

:08:42. > :08:47.moment. This system moved in and to the east. Be on the look out. One

:08:48. > :08:56.more weather headline this evening, and this one in the west. A wildfire

:08:57. > :08:59.in Oregon. Firefighters say they will work through the evening.

:09:00. > :09:08.Hundreds of families have been forced to flee. This picture was

:09:09. > :09:11.taken six miles away. Now, the deadly Ebola outbreak and an

:09:12. > :09:16.exclusive report. We are hearing from a group of American students

:09:17. > :09:20.stuck in the hot zone. Their parents are waiting for them to board

:09:21. > :09:24.flights in the US. They have not been able to do so. Their flights

:09:25. > :09:28.have been cancelled. Authorities are still trying to contain the growing

:09:29. > :09:30.outbreak. Tonight, we hear from those students, who have a message

:09:31. > :09:46.for their parents. In this exclusive interview, we

:09:47. > :09:50.reached the student studying in Liberia, and now stranded in the

:09:51. > :09:54.danger zone after flights to the region were suspended. I personally

:09:55. > :10:00.would like everyone to know that we are safe. We are safe and we are

:10:01. > :10:04.healthy. They want to come home now. They have talked their parents

:10:05. > :10:07.into remaining calm, and are working with British Airways to fly home

:10:08. > :10:13.through Ghana before school starts on August 20. Until then they are

:10:14. > :10:20.staying inside. Have you all been tested, by any chance, for Ebola? We

:10:21. > :10:26.have not been in contact with anyone who has been tracking Ebola, so

:10:27. > :10:30.everyone is completely safe. And we are also taking preventative

:10:31. > :10:35.measures such as carrying around hand sanitiser and washing our hands

:10:36. > :10:39.frequently. Out side their circle of safety there is fear and thousands

:10:40. > :10:46.of deaths. So`called sanitation stations are just buckets and hand

:10:47. > :10:50.sanitiser. In the middle of the Street, a man believed to be secret

:10:51. > :10:54.Ebola. It took authorities five hours to get him help. A husband of

:10:55. > :11:01.one of the sick missionaries rescued this week.

:11:02. > :11:07.US health officials told Congress today they are sending in more

:11:08. > :11:13.workers, saying the best defence here at home is a good offence in

:11:14. > :11:18.Africa. The CDC says six people in the US have been tested for Ebola. I

:11:19. > :11:24.walked into emergency rooms with what looked like symptoms. All

:11:25. > :11:28.results have come back negative. And now to the breaking headline out of

:11:29. > :11:32.Detroit late today. A verdict, all of this entering around what really

:11:33. > :11:35.happened on one man's front porch. He shot a young woman who had come

:11:36. > :11:43.to his door, prosecutors say, looking for help. Prosecutors didn't

:11:44. > :11:49.agree, and he told the court he pleaded with his life. `` count one,

:11:50. > :11:53.murder in the second degree. Guilty of murder in the second degree.

:11:54. > :12:01.After only eight hours of deliberations, the defendant was

:12:02. > :12:05.found guilty, choosing her through his screen door as she stood on his

:12:06. > :12:10.front porch in the middle of the night. Afterwards, the defendant was

:12:11. > :12:14.stoical, the Vic's mother was brimming with emotion, hugging

:12:15. > :12:17.prosecutors. In a case that for some drew comparisons to the George

:12:18. > :12:23.Zimmermann case, a white shooter killing a black team, prosecutors

:12:24. > :12:27.argued McBryde was injured from a nearby car accident, and that

:12:28. > :12:37.Theodore Wafer was looking for trouble. And blew her face off. I

:12:38. > :12:43.just shot somebody on my front porch with a shotgun, banging on my door.

:12:44. > :12:48.The defence claimed Theodore Wafer, frightened by McBride, hadn't no

:12:49. > :12:53.choice but to act. `` had no choice but to act. And on the stand,

:12:54. > :12:58.Theodore Wafer was that fast in his explanation. I wasn't going to cower

:12:59. > :13:04.in my house. I didn't want to be a victim. And now, as one man sits in

:13:05. > :13:09.prison, a family feeling vindicated. Justice was served today. Theodore

:13:10. > :13:12.Wafer will be back in this courthouse on August 21 to face

:13:13. > :13:18.sentencing, at that time he could be sentenced to life in prison. And now

:13:19. > :13:21.to the deadly accident on the water making headlines tonight. Four high

:13:22. > :13:25.school friends, one of them at the wheel of a speedboat, pulling an

:13:26. > :13:32.inner tube, when it unthinkable happened. This evening, a life cut

:13:33. > :13:37.short, and it is raising questions about how little it takes to be

:13:38. > :13:41.allowed to run a boat. It is every family's worst nightmare on a boat.

:13:42. > :13:48.16`year`old Emily and her high school friend thrown from their

:13:49. > :13:53.tubes. Boat turned to pick them up, but collided with them instead,

:13:54. > :13:59.killing one and seriously injuring another. She was a great, funny

:14:00. > :14:03.girl. We miss her. It is a big loss to our community. Officials we

:14:04. > :14:08.talked to on the water said the problem is lack of experience. For a

:14:09. > :14:12.licence, you just need to pass a multiple`choice exam, it is pretty

:14:13. > :14:18.simple. That is all you need to drive a boat. Unlike a drivers

:14:19. > :14:22.license for a car, laws to drive a boat are more lenient. Several

:14:23. > :14:27.states require no certification at all. In Connecticut, certification

:14:28. > :14:31.is required, and the driver had it, but there is no minimum age for

:14:32. > :14:35.getting it, and class can be as little as one date. One of the girls

:14:36. > :14:38.on the boat tweeted this. Still can't believe what I witnessed

:14:39. > :14:42.today. You will never leave my heart, and I will miss you for ever.

:14:43. > :14:48.As you can imagine, the community here is still in shock. A second

:14:49. > :14:55.girl remains in the hospital, in a stable condition. There is still

:14:56. > :15:00.much more ahead on World News this is a night. Have you ever gone

:15:01. > :15:05.online to leave a bad comment about a business? What happens when they

:15:06. > :15:11.see it? Can they really fine you for a bad review? And have you seen

:15:12. > :15:16.this? Is that really about standing toll? Our correspondent in that

:15:17. > :16:02.neighbourhood, and what he found, what do you think? `` standing tall.

:16:03. > :16:08.Next tonight: if you have ever posted a bad comment about the

:16:09. > :16:12.business online, and they see it, can they really fine you for that

:16:13. > :16:19.unkind review? Here is Rebecca Jarvis. When Robbie checked into his

:16:20. > :16:24.hotel in upstate New York a wedding, he did not expect this. It's not

:16:25. > :16:28.bad, we kept a windows open for the entire time we were there. So he

:16:29. > :16:35.wrote a review on Yelp, and gave it just one staff. Then a surprise

:16:36. > :16:38.landed in his inbox. The hotel e`mailing Robbie that his negative

:16:39. > :16:45.review would cost just married couple $500. Fine print. The bride

:16:46. > :16:48.and groom had apparently missed it when they signed their contract. And

:16:49. > :16:52.that language in contract is becoming more common. It is an

:16:53. > :17:01.intimidation tactic that once discovered clearly gets shut down

:17:02. > :17:04.right away. It backfires. The hotel's raising plummeted, with one

:17:05. > :17:13.person calling it the worst hotel in history. On some levels you are what

:17:14. > :17:16.your Yelp reviews say you are. 100%. In some cases businesses have even

:17:17. > :17:23.taken the extreme step of suing reviewers. Yelp says Law is on the

:17:24. > :17:27.side of the consumer. They have a right to express their opinion and

:17:28. > :17:32.accurately and truthfully explained their experiences. The owner was not

:17:33. > :17:37.available to speak, but he expressed embarrassment and regret, now

:17:38. > :17:43.claiming the policy was a joke. If that was a joke, the reviewers

:17:44. > :17:48.tonight are not laughing about it. While this under only in New York.

:17:49. > :17:53.Consumers in the `` commuters on the a train getting quite a surprise.

:17:54. > :17:55.That is the cast of the Lion King on Broadway serenading the Sunday

:17:56. > :18:01.writers, surprising them a few weeks back. That video is taking off

:18:02. > :18:07.tonight. And there is a battle this evening over this monkey face that

:18:08. > :18:12.went viral. Take a lot, so cute. The monkey snapped this selfie himself,

:18:13. > :18:19.but the human who owns that camera says it is his. He says he owns that

:18:20. > :18:25.copyright, and since the monkey took it, that is disputed. We wanted to

:18:26. > :18:29.know whether this was the real deal. Our correspondent in the

:18:30. > :18:38.neighbourhood. See for yourself. That expert is not someone in a bear

:18:39. > :18:42.suit, they say it really is a bear, standing on his hind legs and

:18:43. > :18:54.walking as comfortably and smoothly as a human. It walks that a new,

:18:55. > :19:13.Donna. He started to walk. `` venue. `` than you. That is up `` a bipedal

:19:14. > :19:20.bear. In some areas are bare sighting is no big deal. But in

:19:21. > :19:25.other areas less so. Local residents have nicknamed this bear Vinnie. It

:19:26. > :19:31.turns out state wildlife officials have been monitoring Vinnie since

:19:32. > :19:37.June. They say he is a juvenile, under three years old, and weighs

:19:38. > :19:41.about ?250. He is walking upright as his front paws are injured. More

:19:42. > :19:45.than likely it was a car accident. There is can walk on their hind legs

:19:46. > :19:52.very well, but they choose not to. Officials say that there are and his

:19:53. > :19:59.bare reference `` officials say the bear, and his bear brethren are not

:20:00. > :20:03.a threat. He is said to be healing very nicely. It will take about a

:20:04. > :20:06.month before he is fully recovered, but we are told that eventually he

:20:07. > :20:12.will be back like any other bare roaming around here, at `` bear

:20:13. > :20:24.roaming around here on all fours. Good night.

:20:25. > :20:29.Good morning. Plenty of weather to talk about over the next few days.

:20:30. > :20:32.Keep watching the weather forecast if you've got outdoor plans. I

:20:33. > :20:36.suspect, through today, we could see some heavy spells of rain, all due

:20:37. > :20:40.to this area of low pressure moving into the extreme south`east. That is

:20:41. > :20:43.where the heaviest of the rain will be. At the same time, close to that

:20:44. > :20:45.low pressure in the north`west, plenty of sharp showers as well. So

:20:46. > :20:47.yes,
