:00:00. > :00:00.seen across the United States before the news broke of Robin Williams's

:00:07. > :00:14.death. Welcome. The breaking development

:00:15. > :00:17.tonight from Saint Lewis. The FBI launches an investigation as an

:00:18. > :00:22.unarmed teenager was shot and killed by police. The chaos that followed.

:00:23. > :00:27.What happened before the shooting? Developments in the death on the

:00:28. > :00:31.racetrack. The NASCAR champion who killed a driver walking on the

:00:32. > :00:37.track. That incredible image. What police say about the moment. The

:00:38. > :00:43.storms on the move tonight. The SUV is in a nosedive, flash flooding,

:00:44. > :00:47.and to search for a man swept away `` SUV's. Swimming with sharks, no

:00:48. > :00:57.cage or protective gear. Nearly 40 of them and white? `` why? Why are

:00:58. > :01:01.the Patriots cheerleaders, movie stars, and the Kennedy clan at the

:01:02. > :01:13.end of the line, or getting drenched tonight? `` all.

:01:14. > :01:21.Good evening. It is great to have you with us. We begin with the FBI

:01:22. > :01:25.investigation launched after a teenager was shot in Saint Lewis

:01:26. > :01:30.Street. So many questions about how it happened and what let to the

:01:31. > :01:35.moment. We saw the images overnight as anger spiralled into violence.

:01:36. > :01:40.Some smashing windows. People taking off with what they could grab. The

:01:41. > :01:46.tension in view tonight. This image from Saint Lewis as protesters come

:01:47. > :01:49.face`to`face with police. Our correspondent on the 18`year`old who

:01:50. > :01:53.was supposed to begin college. What he was accused of and the Mayor

:01:54. > :01:58.tonight who said that if the officer did something wrong, he wants

:01:59. > :02:03.accountability. Look closely, this was the peaceful

:02:04. > :02:09.protest outside the Ferguson misery police department. 500 demonstrators

:02:10. > :02:11.spitting in the eyes of police, demanding authorities charge one of

:02:12. > :02:20.their own with the murder of 18`year`old Michael Brown ``

:02:21. > :02:26.Misouri. It's got to stop. This was the chaos putting the city on the

:02:27. > :02:31.map. Thieves using the protest as an excuse to steal jeans, shoes and

:02:32. > :02:38.tyre rims. We couldn't stand and watch the looting and destruction of

:02:39. > :02:42.property. Details surrounding the shooting sparked this fire are in

:02:43. > :02:45.debate and the FBI is running a review. Neighbours believe the

:02:46. > :02:49.18`year`old was accused of stealing cigars on Saturday afternoon and say

:02:50. > :02:55.police were called. We are told that is why they don't store. Around the

:02:56. > :02:58.block, he was walking with a friend home when the friend says the police

:02:59. > :03:04.officer rolled up. When he pulled up he said, get the F on the sidewalk.

:03:05. > :03:09.And other recorded what she could and turned it over to police. I saw

:03:10. > :03:15.him turn around with his hands up and they shot him and he went down.

:03:16. > :03:21.Police say one of the men physically assaulted the officer, pushing him

:03:22. > :03:24.into his car and going for his gun. It was a physical altercation in the

:03:25. > :03:30.police car between the subject and the police officer at the time that

:03:31. > :03:34.extended out into the street. If the officer did something wrong, I want

:03:35. > :03:39.accountability. Brown's mother beyond devastated but hoping for

:03:40. > :03:43.peace in the city this evening. I wish I was there for him. The owner

:03:44. > :03:47.of this beauty shop and the store next or say they understand a young

:03:48. > :03:55.man was killed but it led to all of this and they worry it could happen

:03:56. > :03:57.again tonight. We turn to the deadly accident on

:03:58. > :04:05.the racetrack. We learnt NASCAR champion is due at pulls out of

:04:06. > :04:10.another race. They are looking closely at this video when Kevin

:04:11. > :04:15.Will Genia climbed out a walking across the track when another driver

:04:16. > :04:23.swerved to avoid him and hit him. Our correspondent has the latest.

:04:24. > :04:27.Good evening. He is one of NASCAR's biggest stars but right now his

:04:28. > :04:31.future is uncertain. That is because there is a key question as to

:04:32. > :04:37.whether he will face criminal charges over what happened on this

:04:38. > :04:41.track. This is the video investigators are poring over frame

:04:42. > :04:44.by frame. Searching for clues in the moments before NASCAR champ Tony

:04:45. > :04:50.Stewart struck 20`year`old Kevin Ward Jr on the track. Police ask the

:04:51. > :04:56.public to come forward with videos like this one shot by a spectator as

:04:57. > :05:00.Stuart bumps into his car on Saturday night, and it spins out of

:05:01. > :05:04.control. He gets out of the car, Stewart is completing another lap.

:05:05. > :05:11.As Ward works further into the track, pointing toward Stuart, one

:05:12. > :05:16.car zooms by and seconds later, Stewart hits him with the right side

:05:17. > :05:20.of the car. Investigators were at the scene today and tonight they

:05:21. > :05:29.said they are asking racing experts to review the tapes . There aren't

:05:30. > :05:33.facts at this point to support probable cause of any criminal

:05:34. > :05:38.behaviour. Was the track to dark? One fellow driver racing on the

:05:39. > :05:44.night tweeted: Extremely difficult to see on a dark and dusty track.

:05:45. > :05:50.When you are looking at this rate track, not a lot of light. ``

:05:51. > :05:54.racetrack. That is what investigators are looking at. They

:05:55. > :05:58.will take into consideration the clothing that he was wearing. The

:05:59. > :06:05.autopsy says that his official cause of death is massive want from.

:06:06. > :06:08.Stewart expressing grief: There aren't words to describe their Adis

:06:09. > :06:14.I feel. Widely considered one of the best in the country, he is known for

:06:15. > :06:20.his fiery temper `` describe the sadness I feel. The investigation is

:06:21. > :06:27.open and under way. Kevin Ward will be laid to rest on Thursday.

:06:28. > :06:31.We move on to the severe weather across much of the east. So much

:06:32. > :06:36.rain and flooding possible that some airlines are offering to waive fees

:06:37. > :06:42.and change flights. Heavy rain causes severe flooding in South

:06:43. > :06:47.Carolina. These two SUV's swallowed whole `` SUVs. From Michigan,

:06:48. > :06:52.pictures come in of cars and trucks pushing through deep water on

:06:53. > :06:56.Interstate 75. Look at the weather tonight. This is the system ringing

:06:57. > :07:04.rainfall days up the east coast. You know who we turn to, our

:07:05. > :07:08.correspondent. Bay City, Michigan, had four inches

:07:09. > :07:13.of rain and that is moving east. Let me show you where. Along the warm

:07:14. > :07:20.front, into Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and new England. It

:07:21. > :07:24.isn't just heavy rain coming, but it could be a severe storm tomorrow

:07:25. > :07:29.afternoon and evening from Lexington, Kentucky to Philadelphia

:07:30. > :07:39.`` New England. Primary fat, damaging wind. `` primary threat.

:07:40. > :07:42.Now, we have red flagged warnings with critical fire conditions from

:07:43. > :07:47.Sacramento to Montana and wind gusts could get up to 45 mph in the

:07:48. > :07:50.afternoon and evening. Then, a cold front comes through, which could

:07:51. > :07:53.spark lightning. You will be back on your report into

:07:54. > :07:59.the sharks tonight. Stunning images. In the meantime, we

:08:00. > :08:02.move overseas to the growing crisis in Iraq. Later today, President

:08:03. > :08:08.Obama warned that they need to come up with a political solution. We see

:08:09. > :08:11.the view this evening from an American F`18 military operation

:08:12. > :08:14.under way to support humanitarian aid and airstrikes. There is concern

:08:15. > :08:25.over Americans on the ground in Erbil and `` in Iraq. Thousands

:08:26. > :08:32.hiding in the mountains. The team is that he the stories.

:08:33. > :08:38.They are the faces of innocent victims, forced from their homes.

:08:39. > :08:42.This woman, old and frail, walked four days to get to this refugee

:08:43. > :08:56.camp only to find rusty tins of food left to eat. `` of Iraqi of Iraq's

:08:57. > :09:03.yet the Dees, surrounded by ISIS militants ready to kill them below

:09:04. > :09:07.`` easy diesel. This man managed to escape. He was an interpreter for

:09:08. > :09:11.American troops fighting in Iraq, now living in what he calls a metal

:09:12. > :09:16.cage, shared with six families, including a two week old baby. What

:09:17. > :09:23.would have happened if you had stayed on the mountain? We would

:09:24. > :09:27.die, no food, no he knows America is parachuting in food and water and

:09:28. > :09:33.carrying out airstrikes on ISIS targets. But today the Pentagon said

:09:34. > :09:37.it wasn't enough to stop them permanently. Do you feel let down by

:09:38. > :09:42.the same troops you served alongside?

:09:43. > :09:48.While talking with 21`year`old Haifa, she receives a phone call

:09:49. > :09:55.from a relative she says is now held captive by ISIS. She hears of

:09:56. > :10:04.unspeakable horrors. Here tonight at this camp, there are people who know

:10:05. > :10:09.they are lucky to be alive. I want to bring in our chief

:10:10. > :10:13.political affairs correspondent at our Washington bureau tonight. You

:10:14. > :10:16.were on the air with me with the president later today and any

:10:17. > :10:21.indication of how long this will last from your sources? There have

:10:22. > :10:25.been nearly 20 airstrikes now but the general who heads operations at

:10:26. > :10:30.the Pentagon said while the airstrikes have disrupted the

:10:31. > :10:34.advance on Irbil, ISIS remains very well organised and well`equipped and

:10:35. > :10:38.the general reiterated that the US has no intention of expanding those

:10:39. > :10:42.strikes to other areas unless Americans are directly threatened.

:10:43. > :10:46.Today we did see political progress. Iraq nominated a new Prime

:10:47. > :10:51.Minister, that is supposed to mean the end of power for Newry and the,

:10:52. > :10:57.Iran's leader for years, long accused of not sharing power and

:10:58. > :11:02.exacting political revenge `` Newry Al`Megrahi. Seemingly good news for

:11:03. > :11:05.Barack Obama, seen here huddling with his national security adviser

:11:06. > :11:11.at Martha's Vineyard, but it is not clear whether he will leave without

:11:12. > :11:17.a fight. Thanks very much. We're going to turn out to the heirs

:11:18. > :11:26.scare, some Jet Blue passengers still recovering from a terrifying

:11:27. > :11:34.takeoff `` Air scare. It was apparently due to a third. How

:11:35. > :11:37.common are they? `` Bird. For this family, landing at JFK this morning

:11:38. > :11:43.marked the end of a horrifying journey. It was touch and go. They

:11:44. > :11:47.were among the 186 people on board this JetBlue flight, an engine

:11:48. > :11:53.catching fire during a routine takeoff to JFK from Paul Taricco.

:11:54. > :11:58.People started screaming and they wanted to bust open the exits with

:11:59. > :12:08.their arms `` Paul Taricco. It caused the jet to abort takeoff.

:12:09. > :12:13.Everyone evacuated on slides. Today JetBlue confirms it was caused by a

:12:14. > :12:16.bird strike. Wildfires like this are rare, bird strikes are literally

:12:17. > :12:29.common `` while fires. Early this year, a pilot in Florida

:12:30. > :12:34.captured the moment a bird smashed into his cockpit. In the so`called

:12:35. > :12:40.miracle on the Hudson in 2009, a double bird strike took out both

:12:41. > :12:43.engines of a commercial plane. The majority happened during takeoff and

:12:44. > :12:48.landing, so airports around the country take a number of steps to

:12:49. > :12:53.keep wildlife awake. From scaring animals off with dogs to simply

:12:54. > :12:57.cutting the grass more often, making runways less attractive to birds and

:12:58. > :13:01.safer for planes. Now to an image being repeated

:13:02. > :13:03.across this country tonight, and all of it to raise awareness about a

:13:04. > :13:19.debilitating disease. Young reunion look like this? Across

:13:20. > :13:23.America it might? The Kennedy clan or dousing

:13:24. > :13:29.And Ethel Kennedy at the end of the line with a little help. It's not

:13:30. > :13:37.just the Kennedys, it's across the country. This movie star opening up

:13:38. > :13:47.the ice bags and then dumping the ice. Even the Patriots' cheerleaders

:13:48. > :13:52.getting the buckets ready. And just listen to their explanation. What do

:13:53. > :14:00.we want to do? Soak ourselves. They want to strike out ALS, the idea is

:14:01. > :14:03.simple. Dump it over your head before posting it online and then

:14:04. > :14:09.challenge somebody else to do it next. You have 24 hours to do it. It

:14:10. > :14:16.erupted when friends and family of this former college Boston captain,

:14:17. > :14:19.who was diagnosed with ALS, began challenging people to make a

:14:20. > :14:24.statement while shivering. His father was proud. It proves the

:14:25. > :14:30.goodness of human beings and the power of people, the power of

:14:31. > :14:35.positivity. His wife. This isn't your elderly grandfather that gets

:14:36. > :14:39.ALS, it is a young people's disease. Pete was diagnosed two

:14:40. > :14:46.years ago. He is paralysed now and can't speak on his own but his

:14:47. > :14:50.message is getting to so many. The ALS Association tonight has been

:14:51. > :14:55.flooded with calls, donations, up 6000%. Tonight his family is

:14:56. > :14:59.overwhelmed. Who knew that all we needed was a bucket and a bag of ice

:15:00. > :15:04.to create all the awareness we ever needed? Still much more ahead this

:15:05. > :15:09.Monday night. Billy Joel, the new video and the surprising face in the

:15:10. > :15:13.crowd. And the passengers stranded for five hours dangling in the air

:15:14. > :15:18.on a rollercoaster, why they got to them and why they gave them

:15:19. > :15:23.umbrellas and water. The 70 mph fast ball that had all the boys on the

:15:24. > :15:28.team cheering. You will hear from her show Jo coming up.

:15:29. > :16:04.`` you will hear from her coming Now to that amusement park scare in

:16:05. > :16:10.Maryland. Five hours in the blazing heat. We have more on the

:16:11. > :16:13.investigation and rescue. Thrill seekers stranded, a dizzying

:16:14. > :16:19.75 feet in the air. You don't know if it is going to fall. 17 adults

:16:20. > :16:25.and seven children tilting sideways, baking in the 85 degrees

:16:26. > :16:29.August heat. Firefighters climbing onto the tracks, handing out water

:16:30. > :16:36.and umbrellas. Then, five hours in, a delicate rescue. Attaching straps

:16:37. > :16:41.to each passenger and one at a time leading them back to solid ground. I

:16:42. > :16:47.was afraid it was going to fall. Of the ride at six flags, Maryland.

:16:48. > :16:51.Normally a high velocity tangle of twists and turns, suddenly stopped

:16:52. > :17:04.damp in its tracks. The right behind me is still closed `` dead in its

:17:05. > :17:09.tracks. Last month 22 people were left in Los Angeles. Last week in

:17:10. > :17:16.New Jersey, one rider recording his nerve wracking walk down after his

:17:17. > :17:21.rollercoaster theme parks around the country engaged in a kind of arms

:17:22. > :17:25.race of faster, ever more thrilling rides. But the industry points out

:17:26. > :17:29.the chance of being seriously injured in an American theme park is

:17:30. > :17:37.just one in 24 million. Still, seems like these leading critics to call

:17:38. > :17:41.for stricter safety regulations of themepark rides. Theme parks are

:17:42. > :17:47.only regulated by the industry, by themselves, it's time for regulators

:17:48. > :17:50.in Washington to take a closer look. Tonight the themepark promises a

:17:51. > :17:56.closer investigation and they say the safety of guests is the top

:17:57. > :18:00.priority. A 13`year`old girl making us all take notice, leading a team

:18:01. > :18:05.of boys to the Little League World Series. She has a blazing 70 mph

:18:06. > :18:10.fast ball, she threw a three hit shutout. Have a listen. It's

:18:11. > :18:15.unbelievable, kids from Philadelphia and now we are going to the final.

:18:16. > :18:20.They will play in front of their hometown fans this evening on ESPN.

:18:21. > :18:28.Now to the Billy Joel concert, the famous song and the famous face

:18:29. > :18:34.spotted. Uptown girl, we all know that song,

:18:35. > :18:38.the Internet going wild of Billy Joel singing and his ex`wife,

:18:39. > :18:43.Christie Brinkley. She was featured in the sun's original video in the

:18:44. > :18:51.early 80s. She posted this picture on Instagram, still looks amazing ``

:18:52. > :18:54.Song's original video. Here she is swaying and then there is this

:18:55. > :19:00.behind`the`scenes moment. Finally tonight, discovery shark week is

:19:01. > :19:06.back and meteorologist Ginger diving into the ocean, she is right there

:19:07. > :19:09.and swimming with sharks. Ripping at a bated chain almost 40

:19:10. > :19:24.sharks in a feeding frenzy. Just yards below, me. No cage, no

:19:25. > :19:30.chainmail suit. It is OK because I am with Stuart, a 30 year shark

:19:31. > :19:36.veteran. A native Fahey mien and a sharp lover, out to prove that

:19:37. > :19:41.sharks are predators but we are not their preferred prey `` a native of

:19:42. > :19:48.the Bahamas `` shark lover. They just want to eat fish. They are

:19:49. > :19:53.here, everybody. It's brilliant, oh my god. Still, jumping in with

:19:54. > :20:00.dozens of them? A wetsuit, flippers and a mask and I was in.

:20:01. > :20:10.Watch as the bait goes into the water.

:20:11. > :20:20.Then that 3000 beast of the deep turning tender `` 3000 lb. While I

:20:21. > :20:28.wasn't quite ready for a belly rub, I did get in a few pets. A magical

:20:29. > :20:36.oh, my God. Wow. Half of the species are near

:20:37. > :20:40.extinction because of unnecessary killing. We need to all become shark

:20:41. > :20:45.ambassadors. That was extraordinary. We were wearing

:20:46. > :20:49.wetsuits, flippers, making us not look like the fish they do want to

:20:50. > :20:53.eat. I'm happy to hear that, great to have you back. That's it tonight,

:20:54. > :20:58.we want to see you first thing in the morning on GMA and I will see

:20:59. > :21:06.you here tomorrow night. From all of us, good night.

:21:07. > :21:11.If it wasn't for the heat in the sun when and if it comes out, you would

:21:12. > :21:16.almost think it is April given the number of showers that we are

:21:17. > :21:21.experiencing. More of the same on Tuesday. There will be sunshine in

:21:22. > :21:25.between them. With the notable exception of parts of Scotland, were

:21:26. > :21:29.yet again we have this band of cloud and rain

:21:30. > :21:30.north, getting into the central belt and into the Southern uplands
