:00:08. > :00:14.for the last addition of Diane Sawyer's ABC World News. An appeal
:00:15. > :00:20.to the terrorists, an American mother's plea to ISIS for the life
:00:21. > :00:28.of her son. A monster wave bowls over a crowd gathered on the beach.
:00:29. > :00:32.Powerful storms on the move. They made in America investigation as we
:00:33. > :00:37.reveal products that say they are made in America but are actually
:00:38. > :00:46.made in China. American workers who want their jobs back tonight. A
:00:47. > :00:57.personal note, a thank you to all of you as I leave the anchor desk at
:00:58. > :01:04.ABC World News. Good evening to you. The new video
:01:05. > :01:08.from one American mother asking the terrorists of ISIS to show
:01:09. > :01:13.humanity, asking that they be merciful and let her son live. These
:01:14. > :01:16.are the same killers who executed James Foley and we are learning more
:01:17. > :01:20.about them as the other American journalist released after two years
:01:21. > :01:29.is home and speaking for the first time. Now we go to our
:01:30. > :01:39.correspondent. My son is in your hands. A mother's emotional tweeting
:01:40. > :01:43.eight days after ISIS said it would execute her son, shown in the same
:01:44. > :01:47.video that showed the execution of James Foley. I want what every
:01:48. > :01:55.mother wants, to see her children's children. The plea was directly
:01:56. > :02:01.addressed to the leader of ISIS, a man who claims he is the prince of
:02:02. > :02:05.the Muslim world. That is how he was addressed. I have always learned
:02:06. > :02:10.that you can grant amnesty and I ask you to these release my child. For
:02:11. > :02:16.another American mother today, anguish turned to joy as her son,
:02:17. > :02:21.Peter Theo Curtis returned home to Cambridge, Massachusetts after being
:02:22. > :02:27.held by a different Jihadist group in Syria. I had no idea that so much
:02:28. > :02:33.energy was being expended on my behalf and I am overwhelmed. As much
:02:34. > :02:36.as the American hostages have focused attention on the Syrian
:02:37. > :02:41.terrorist groups, it is the American troops that have joined them that
:02:42. > :02:46.most worry authorities. New details emerged about this American
:02:47. > :02:51.Jihadist, killed fighting for ISIS in Syria over the weekend. It turns
:02:52. > :02:57.out his high school, in suburban Minneapolis, got together at least
:02:58. > :03:03.two Midwestern boys who went on to become terrorists. This family photo
:03:04. > :03:15.shows him and his high school classmate who later died fighting
:03:16. > :03:19.for the Al`Qaeda group in Somalia. We never thought they would turn to
:03:20. > :03:27.violence. Would there be a word jihadists from this high school?
:03:28. > :03:35.This video shows the militant wearing a sweatshirt with the same
:03:36. > :03:38.insignia as the high school. As the journalist's mother awaits word of
:03:39. > :03:41.her son, the White House announced that it has carried out more
:03:42. > :03:47.airstrikes against ISIS on the ignoring the terrorist threat to
:03:48. > :03:53.kill him if rocket strikes continue. Another big story
:03:54. > :03:59.developing in the Midwest, officials are warning to stay out of the
:04:00. > :04:03.water. Monster waves and powerful riptides fuelled by a storm
:04:04. > :04:09.offshore. At least one person has died and our correspondent is
:04:10. > :04:17.there. Here at the infamous wage in Newport Beach California, 20 foot
:04:18. > :04:28.waves are crashing in. The water is treacherous and so is the sand. I
:04:29. > :04:34.have never seen something like this this tropical storm is drawing

:04:47. > :04:52.overnight a little further north yesterday, a server in Malibu died
:04:53. > :05:03.after being dragged under by this well and today another was rescued

:05:23. > :05:28.the beach, they know the risks. A bit frightening? Yes, but fear is

:05:40. > :05:50.to leave this to people who know what they are doing `` there.
:05:51. > :05:56.California will continue seeing waves at least through Friday. Now
:05:57. > :06:04.we are talking to our meteorologist. As was mentioned, this is the path
:06:05. > :06:08.of the tropical storm, weakening but still pushing into Southern
:06:09. > :06:13.California. What you are seeing is wave heights, so close to the
:06:14. > :06:24.centre, their 25 feet. Close to the centre, their 25 feet. Close to the
:06:25. > :06:35.sure it is up to 15 `` and they are, close to the shore. The timing
:06:36. > :06:44.for this is Thursday for the Southeast, and it will get worse
:06:45. > :06:52.over the weekend. Thank you so much. Heading back overseas where our
:06:53. > :06:55.correspondent continues his extraordinary reporting. He has
:06:56. > :07:02.travelled to Liberia, hot zone of Ebola and tonight the CDC is on the
:07:03. > :07:09.ground and he is reporting. The head of the CDC is touring Liberia,
:07:10. > :07:14.assessing the Ebola outbreak and I caught up with him at the country's
:07:15. > :07:20.'s largest Ebola treatment centre. 120 beds and totally full. This is a
:07:21. > :07:26.threat not just to the region but to the entire world, at the set, and if
:07:27. > :07:35.we do not take distinctive action, this could be causing problems for
:07:36. > :07:40.years to come. Today, I saw the construction of a 400 bed Ebola
:07:41. > :07:43.treatment centre from Medecins Sans Frontieres. This could provide type
:07:44. > :08:05.of care that could save lives. rages across the country tonight
:08:06. > :08:12.after video footage emerged of a nine`year`old girl being taught how
:08:13. > :08:16.to hire a powerful weapon. They are visiting a popular tourist
:08:17. > :08:22.attraction near Las Vegas more a shooting range called Bullets and
:08:23. > :08:27.Burgers. The instructor switches begun to four automatic but when she
:08:28. > :08:35.fires, she loses control, accidentally shooting him dead. It
:08:36. > :08:40.was like losing a brother. The shooting is tragically similar to
:08:41. > :08:45.this one in 2008, when an eight`year`old boy fired a uzi and
:08:46. > :08:48.recoiled, killing him. There is no federal law prohibiting children
:08:49. > :08:55.from shooting ranges. In Pennsylvania, kids have to be 12 or
:08:56. > :08:58.older. In California, seven. One Texas Ranger allows children to fire
:08:59. > :09:04.guns from as young as six years old. Some firing ranges like this
:09:05. > :09:10.one in Colorado say that is too young. We will not allow that in
:09:11. > :09:15.this club. They are still developing and there is a strength issue, there
:09:16. > :09:21.is a maturity issue and a competency issue. Today, we fired the same
:09:22. > :09:26.calibre bullet. You can see the kick. A powerful force that some
:09:27. > :09:37.firearms experts say maybe too much for children to handle.
:09:38. > :09:40.Tonight, a lawsuit filed by parents across the country worried about
:09:41. > :09:46.children, sports and concussion. The parents are asking soccer leagues to
:09:47. > :09:50.ban any player under 14 years old from heading a soccer ball. They
:09:51. > :09:55.also want the leagues to monitor the medical condition of current and
:09:56. > :09:59.former players. Next, celebrating with the people of Chicago and
:10:00. > :10:06.Philadelphia. A parade for the US Little League champions. They fell
:10:07. > :10:09.short of winning the World Series but the non`stop thousands of fans

:10:18. > :10:21.welcome for the girl with a 70 mph fastball and all of her team`mates
:10:22. > :10:26.as well. Next, our special investigation. Products that say
:10:27. > :10:29.they are made in America but are really made in China. Tonight, the
:10:30. > :11:13.people fighting back. Now, our Made in America
:11:14. > :11:16.investigation. Customers who believe they are buying products made in
:11:17. > :11:21.America, right down to the packaging. But despite the
:11:22. > :11:31.packaging, they are actually made in China. And the American workers are
:11:32. > :11:36.fighting back tonight. We know the power of those three words, Made in
:11:37. > :11:40.America. But what happens when that label does not mean what it says? So
:11:41. > :11:49.many have contacted us with pictures, dish towels with the
:11:50. > :11:57.American flag on the label. These were made in Pakistan. And these
:11:58. > :12:10.made in Vietnam. The American flag is all over this packaging but it is
:12:11. > :12:13.made in China. Many companies that are not made in America are putting
:12:14. > :12:19.the American flag all over their product even when they are not made
:12:20. > :12:21.here. Made in America sells. At the International property rights
:12:22. > :12:30.Centre, we were given a first`hand look. Would Americans this ``
:12:31. > :12:35.shocked at this? Most of them would have no idea. One of the most eye
:12:36. > :12:40.opening examples is the language learning tool which is made in
:12:41. > :12:44.America by American workers. But it turns out that some people are
:12:45. > :12:48.it is not. This looks like the one it is not. This looks like the one
:12:49. > :12:53.you would order from the American company but this one came instead.
:12:54. > :13:04.From China. This one came from China. Look closely at the spelling
:13:05. > :13:09.errors. Who made this? These are two websites side`by`side. One is the
:13:10. > :13:16.real thing and one is the fight. Can you tell which? We were stumped. It
:13:17. > :13:22.is really hard to tell which one is fake and which one is real? All
:13:23. > :13:26.dissent website selling `` all different websites selling the
:13:27. > :13:30.programme and all of them fake. They have stolen this picture of the
:13:31. > :13:35.woman from the real website. And imagine how those American workers
:13:36. > :13:45.feel. There is someone out there who was making their own money of our
:13:46. > :13:49.hard work. Tonight from `` tonight, with help from federal authorities,
:13:50. > :13:51.they are getting those jobs back. They show us the counterfeit
:13:52. > :13:57.products sent in by customers who thought they were made here. All of
:13:58. > :14:00.these are counterfeit programmes. It angers them to think of workers
:14:01. > :14:07.overseas putting these boxes together. People who did not care
:14:08. > :14:11.half as much as these people care. 35% of their business has been lost
:14:12. > :14:18.to counterfeiters and they want that business and those American jobs
:14:19. > :14:22.back. Just incredible to think of the jobs they could add if they
:14:23. > :14:26.could knock down a fraction of this. The spelling errors on the box.
:14:27. > :14:32.Check the box at home. And that is where we began, trying
:14:33. > :14:35.to help create American jobs. How many reports on Made in America have
:14:36. > :14:40.we done over the years? We asked them to crunch the numbers.
:14:41. > :14:46.150 reports and updates since we started these smalltown reports.
:14:47. > :14:49.Will you have something next week? Yes. Another Made in America and it
:14:50. > :14:55.involves something all our fighter pilots rely on.
:14:56. > :14:59.And I just want to say to everyone watching that you have seen David at
:15:00. > :15:02.this desk and on this chair of so many times and you know his
:15:03. > :15:06.commitment to bringing you the news and may I just say to you,
:15:07. > :15:11.personally, right here, I cannot wait to see you in high gear. Let it
:15:12. > :15:13.begin. It has been an honour sitting across
:15:14. > :15:18.from you. Now, I would like to take you behind
:15:19. > :15:26.the scenes to need some true friends who are at the heart of world. Night
