:00:00. > :00:08.be tough. And that is it for me. Mike Embley

:00:09. > :00:12.will be here from two o'clock a.m. And now it is time for ABC World

:00:13. > :00:18.News. The death of Joan Rivers. Words of

:00:19. > :00:25.an investigation. Our interview with the comic legend. What she said

:00:26. > :00:30.about Johnny Carson and taking the inside her New York apartment. One

:00:31. > :00:34.of the most wanted man in the world. Who is the American man

:00:35. > :00:40.helping ISIS with their terror Pontsticill reservoir is he behind

:00:41. > :00:48.so many of their videos `` with their terror? And is he behind so

:00:49. > :00:54.many of their videos. A shark attack video in which two women were

:00:55. > :01:06.attacked in their kayaks. We will see what happens next.

:01:07. > :01:10.Good evening. We do begin with the headline that broke this afternoon,

:01:11. > :01:15.we learned that Joan Rivers, the Queen of comedy has died at the age

:01:16. > :01:21.of 81 after going into cardiac arrest a week ago. Tributes are

:01:22. > :01:27.pouring in from fellow comedians and her fans. For five decades, she

:01:28. > :01:34.wielded her wit like a weapon and told us her biggest break was her

:01:35. > :01:38.gig on Johnny Carson. Tonight, we are hearing from her daughter that a

:01:39. > :01:42.new investigation is under way. What Joan Rivers told me about Johnny

:01:43. > :01:49.Carson and the moment the friendship was lost. Now we go to our

:01:50. > :01:54.correspondent. Joan Rivers was admitted here

:01:55. > :01:57.exactly one week ago. She remained on life support and surrounded by

:01:58. > :02:06.family and friends and till the very end. `` until. Her only daughter

:02:07. > :02:22.broke the news of her mother's debt in a statement this afternoon,

:02:23. > :02:29.sharing the following. Her daughter, senior returning home this evening.

:02:30. > :02:32.Just hours before, news that an investigation was launched into this

:02:33. > :02:38.Manhattan clinic where Joan Rivers went into cardiac arrest during a

:02:39. > :02:42.routine outpatient procedure. They are looking into the unanswered

:02:43. > :02:45.questions of just what happened. Although there have been no evidence

:02:46. > :03:01.of wrongdoing, a separate autopsy will be conducted. Fans and friends

:03:02. > :03:09.now sharing their condolences. Ellen DeGeneres tweeted the following.

:03:10. > :03:15.Louis C.K. Said that he looked up to her and loved her. Her funeral is

:03:16. > :03:21.scheduled for this Sunday in New York. No words on whether or not it

:03:22. > :03:26.will be public but she said she always wanted it to be a huge

:03:27. > :03:31.showbiz affair. I sat down with Joan Rivers not long

:03:32. > :03:36.ago and she revealed the private pain behind her broken friendship

:03:37. > :03:40.with Johnny Carson. We will never forget her allowing us backstage

:03:41. > :03:52.here in New York City where she performed. Much of America first saw

:03:53. > :03:59.her on Ed Sullivan. She emerged from behind the curtain nearly 50 years

:04:00. > :04:09.ago. Weren't you pregnant? Yes and you weren't allowed to say it. It

:04:10. > :04:14.was breaking ground. It was. Hers was a groundbreaking and sometimes

:04:15. > :04:21.backbreaking journey. This is where my career has come to. She invited

:04:22. > :04:28.us to her New York City apartment. Photographed everywhere. I usually

:04:29. > :04:33.don't let people come up. I must have been very sad or very drunk.

:04:34. > :04:39.She took us back to her first days on the Tonight Show with Johnny

:04:40. > :04:48.Carson. I was the first permanent guest host, man, woman or child. And

:04:49. > :04:52.that gig would lead to another offer to do comedy on another network. I

:04:53. > :04:59.called him and told him and he hung up on me. Never spoke to me again.

:05:00. > :05:05.Her show was soon over and so was her friendship with Johnny Carson.

:05:06. > :05:13.As she struggled publicly, her husband struggled privately, taking

:05:14. > :05:21.his life in 1987. I am still not over his suicide. I am still furious

:05:22. > :05:35.with him. I'll kill him if I meet him in heaven. A

:05:36. > :05:43.was offered to her, up against Oprah in the Emmy's. Two years ago, I

:05:44. > :05:48.could not get a job in this business. It was my husband who

:05:49. > :05:52.always said, you can turn things around. Later she was on the red

:05:53. > :05:58.carpet, asking and talking openly about her multiple

:05:59. > :06:03.plastic surgeries and how she explained it in the beginning. My

:06:04. > :06:06.eyes were black and blue and I was carrying my daughter. But people

:06:07. > :06:13.would ask the what happened to me and I said the baby punched me in

:06:14. > :06:21.the eyes and they bought it! People were so stupid in those days. And it

:06:22. > :06:30.turned out, behind all of that humour, humility. I am proud of

:06:31. > :06:36.nothing. I am swimming upstream. If you don't do what you want to do,

:06:37. > :06:40.you are a fool. Joan Rivers sitting down with us and Barbara Walters

:06:41. > :06:47.with us now. Was she the same privately as she was publicly?

:06:48. > :06:52.Publicly she would say anything, all the things women wanted to say and

:06:53. > :07:04.perhaps didn't. By that late, she was very elegant with a house full

:07:05. > :07:06.of antiques `` privately. If she had any idea about all of these tributes

:07:07. > :07:12.coming in, what would she make of it? To know that she had this kind

:07:13. > :07:20.of an audience, I think she would have been smiling. I will miss her.

:07:21. > :07:24.Moving onto other breaking news. The international manhunt for American

:07:25. > :07:29.man and the question as to whether he is the mastermind behind the ISIS

:07:30. > :07:40.videos. Now we go to our correspondent.

:07:41. > :07:46.master of the 21st century internet propaganda. Tonight the hunt is on

:07:47. > :07:50.for an American who may have helped to create some of the graphic videos

:07:51. > :07:54.of battles, executions, even child recruits.

:07:55. > :08:02.All rolled out on Twitter, Facebook and other sites. Like some slick

:08:03. > :08:06.American media campaign. ISIS understands that for an act of

:08:07. > :08:10.terrorism to be effective, it needs to actually terrorise people, which

:08:11. > :08:16.is why law enforcement officials told us they are focusing on this

:08:17. > :08:20.former college student from Boston. He is believed to be one of the

:08:21. > :08:26.architects of the ISIS social media strategy. He was put on the FBI's

:08:27. > :08:30.most wanted terrorist last year, with this description posted online.

:08:31. > :08:36.He has a thin build and a high`pitched voice. This into a

:08:37. > :08:45.recording of his voice. `` listen now to a recording. He is the son of

:08:46. > :08:48.a prominent doctor. He went on to north`eastern university where he

:08:49. > :08:53.studied computer technology. The very skills authority say he is

:08:54. > :08:59.using now. The internet campaign authorities say he helped engineer,

:09:00. > :09:02.with its horrifying images, has been vital to the ability of ISIS to

:09:03. > :09:06.capture the world's attention and get new recruits from the US and

:09:07. > :09:14.elsewhere. It has energised their base. They feel they are now finally

:09:15. > :09:20.in a confrontation with the US. That is exactly what the FBI says he

:09:21. > :09:23.wanted to do when he fled this country and became a fugitive in

:09:24. > :09:29.Syria. Fight and kill his fellow Americans.

:09:30. > :09:34.Now to the severe weather on the move at this hour. Take a look at

:09:35. > :09:39.the weather wall tonight. Strong weather moving in across the

:09:40. > :09:44.midwest. We are getting pictures of flash floods in North Carolina.

:09:45. > :09:51.Inside the vehicle, a mother and son trapped. Later rescued. Ginger is

:09:52. > :09:57.tracking the storms and the hurricane gaining strength tonight.

:09:58. > :10:08.Severe storms shredding the northern great Lakes. Winds of up to 84 mph

:10:09. > :10:18.left this mess. The haunting clouds creeping across the horizon. Golf

:10:19. > :10:26.ball sized hail. And too much rain. One inch falling in six minutes. The

:10:27. > :10:31.hail wounding crops and cars. In South Carolina, up to four inches of

:10:32. > :10:36.rain overtaking the streets and this vehicle. I didn't even see the

:10:37. > :10:39.water, I just started flowing. Her five`year`old was inside.

:10:40. > :10:46.Firefighters pulling them to safety. The grace of God kept our say.

:10:47. > :10:55.Ginger is tracking the hurricane. We are watching it. Check this out.

:10:56. > :10:59.Winds of up to 90 mph. They will get close to LA but high surf will be

:11:00. > :11:08.the only thing we will see. Up to eight feet. Even potentially a

:11:09. > :11:09.bigger issue will be the monsoon. Thank you. Moving onto the

:11:10. > :11:22.developing Headline. Tonight, the justice

:11:23. > :11:25.department has said it will launch an investigation into the police

:11:26. > :11:27.practices in Ferguson to determine whether the predominantly white

:11:28. > :11:32.police force has a pattern of discrimination. Late word of a

:11:33. > :11:37.verdict in the case involving the one`time rising star in politics.

:11:38. > :11:45.Bob McDonnell on trial for taking money in gifts and spending it with

:11:46. > :11:48.his wife. `` McDonald. They had dreams of being president

:11:49. > :11:58.and first lady but denied they are convicted felons. They were found

:11:59. > :12:03.guilty of trading their power and prestige luxury gifts and cash.

:12:04. > :12:08.Accused of giving the owner of a diet company special access to

:12:09. > :12:11.government, in exchange for rights in a Ferrari, a Rolex watch, a

:12:12. > :12:16.shopping spree and tens of thousands of dollars. They once sold

:12:17. > :12:21.themselves as the ideal political couple. He carried her over the

:12:22. > :12:26.threshold of the governor's mansion. But in court he painted the picture

:12:27. > :12:29.of a broken marriage that left him spiritually and mentally exhausted.

:12:30. > :12:34.So bad, he said, there were barely speaking and could therefore not

:12:35. > :12:41.have conspired to accept favours. In court he smiled. When the verdict

:12:42. > :12:47.was read he sobbed. They face decades in prison.

:12:48. > :12:52.Pictures now of the experiment at a Science Museum that went terribly

:12:53. > :12:56.wrong. Children were running and screaming when a chemical explodes

:12:57. > :12:59.in front of their eyes. More than 12 were hurt by the explosion and

:13:00. > :13:05.tonight officials say that during the experiment the museum attendant

:13:06. > :13:08.poured the chemicals into the wrong container.

:13:09. > :13:13.Out of the case that made national headlines. The father accused of

:13:14. > :13:23.leaving his young son in a hot car to die `` to die. That father has

:13:24. > :13:27.been indicted for murder. Prosecutors here don't believe for a

:13:28. > :13:31.second that it was an accident. They convinced a jury today to charge the

:13:32. > :13:33.father with three different murder charges and other offences for

:13:34. > :13:40.leaving his son in his steaming vehicle. He could be fighting for

:13:41. > :13:45.his life. Prosecutors told me they will decide soon if they will try

:13:46. > :13:50.for the death penalty. Probably in the next two or three weeks. Police

:13:51. > :13:55.say he left his son in the SUV outside his office also rural hours

:13:56. > :14:00.while he was inside sending lewd pictures to women who were not his

:14:01. > :14:05.wife. One of them just 17. Police say he knew of hot car could kill,

:14:06. > :14:09.after watching these safety videos just days before his son died. If

:14:10. > :14:14.you see a child left alone in a vehicle, called 911. Outside the

:14:15. > :14:18.courthouse, his lawyers kept stressing the young father is not

:14:19. > :14:21.guilty and that he simply forgot to drop his son off at daycare. He is

:14:22. > :14:32.doing terrible. He has lost his son, his livelihood, his freedom. A

:14:33. > :14:37.bond hearing in July saw him pull into this parking lot in a panic.

:14:38. > :14:40.They say he looked devastated. I heard the desperate cries of a

:14:41. > :14:45.father who just lost his son. One thing that didn't happen, there were

:14:46. > :14:49.no charges against his wife. She has always maintained she and her

:14:50. > :14:51.husband are innocent and that they suffered a terrible loss.

:14:52. > :14:55.Thank you. The headline this evening about the

:14:56. > :14:59.advert `` third American infected with Ebola. The doctor from Boston

:15:00. > :15:04.is headed to Nebraska and expected to arrive tomorrow.

:15:05. > :15:10.And obituary this evening. Last night we showed you the American

:15:11. > :15:15.workers making those glasses. They are determined to keep creating new

:15:16. > :15:19.jobs. Within minutes, they tell us so many of you have gone to their

:15:20. > :15:23.website, their website crashing in four minutes. They say they were

:15:24. > :15:27.flooded with orders. Five times as many last night as they normally see

:15:28. > :15:28.in an entire day. Still much more ahead.

:15:29. > :15:41.The shark attack. Two young women and their 911 call

:15:42. > :15:46.from the water. The great white that suddenly takes a bite out of their

:15:47. > :15:51.kayak, flipping both of them. And Google paying back parents

:15:52. > :15:53.across America. If your children racked up huge bills downloading

:15:54. > :15:59.applications, what we learnt from that. And what an air plane pilot

:16:00. > :16:00.did to get the spectacular pictures. All of the passengers grabbing their

:16:01. > :16:47.cameras. You will see it right here. Next, two young kayakers and their

:16:48. > :16:54.dramatic Massachusetts when suddenly a great

:16:55. > :16:59.white shark takes a bite out of their kayak.

:17:00. > :17:05.Picture`perfect late summer's evening. Two women out in their

:17:06. > :17:09.kayak is just off the coast of Massachusetts when the great white

:17:10. > :17:24.shark attack. The women were in the water when they called 911.

:17:25. > :17:42.The operator told them to hang on, help is on the way.

:17:43. > :17:47.Luckily the shark did not come back and the pair made it to shore on

:17:48. > :17:51.harm. But look at the giant teeth marks in the kayak and this giant

:17:52. > :17:56.hole in the paddle. Back on dry land, they recalled the terror. We

:17:57. > :17:59.didn't know where it came from, we didn't see anything. We didn't know

:18:00. > :18:08.if it would come back. I'm screaming for help. The sightings of great

:18:09. > :18:11.white sharks are on the rise. The population is booming, especially in

:18:12. > :18:16.the north`east. Days ago, of another Massachusetts beach, this shark was

:18:17. > :18:21.seen from a police helicopter, prompting lifeguards to clear the

:18:22. > :18:26.beach. Later, this quote was inscribed in the sand. After this

:18:27. > :18:30.quote encounter, the two women are not eager to get back in the water.

:18:31. > :18:39.I don't think Irbil kayak again. Never? I might. `` I will ever.

:18:40. > :18:45.Tonight, a little payback for mum and dad. Google has agreed to pay at

:18:46. > :18:51.least $90 million to refund parents whose children racked up all of

:18:52. > :18:54.those charges downloading mobile apps without getting permission

:18:55. > :18:59.first. And have a look at this. That volcano in Iceland. The pilot of a

:19:00. > :19:03.passenger jet decides to take this `` take the scenic route, so the

:19:04. > :19:06.passengers can get a better look. The airline says that for once

:19:07. > :19:11.nobody was complaining about the delay.

:19:12. > :19:14.Five famous faces singled out this evening for their lifetime

:19:15. > :19:26.contribution to American culture, including Lily Tomlin, making us

:19:27. > :19:30.laugh. Al Gore in and Sting. `` Al Green.

:19:31. > :19:36.Tonight, Joan Rivers in her own words. As only she could do, she

:19:37. > :19:39.describes grand plans for her own farewell, using her trademark humour

:19:40. > :19:44.as she said she wanted to go out in style.

:19:45. > :19:53.When I die, and yes this will happen, yes, everything is still in

:19:54. > :19:56.my name, I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights and

:19:57. > :20:03.cameras and action. I want craft services, paparazzi, publicist

:20:04. > :20:09.making a scene. I want it to be Hollywood all the way. Don't give me

:20:10. > :20:13.some rabbi rambling on, I want Meryl Streep crying in five different

:20:14. > :20:22.accents. I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do live. I want

:20:23. > :20:28.to be buried in a gallon. `` gown. I want a wind machine that even in the

:20:29. > :20:32.casket my hair will be blowing more than Beyonce's on stage.

:20:33. > :20:43.Joan Rivers making a smile until the end.

:20:44. > :20:47.The weather patterns are slowly changing. Most of England and Wales

:20:48. > :20:48.will have a fine
