:00:00. > :00:00.in Hackney. Shereka Marsh was killed with a single gunshot wound to the

:00:00. > :00:17.back. Now we have all the latest in business.

:00:18. > :00:21.Pivotal tour. China's President leads a business delegation to

:00:22. > :00:25.Europe as manufacturer data also an eight`month low.

:00:26. > :00:35.And why authorities in India want to tackle the problem ahead of national

:00:36. > :00:40.elections. Welcome to this edition of Asia

:00:41. > :00:46.Business Report. Before we look at President Xi Jinping's visit to

:00:47. > :00:52.Europe, news in the last hour. Key Chinese manufacturing data shows a

:00:53. > :01:07.four to eight month lows. China's economy is headed to a slowdown.

:01:08. > :01:14.Asian stocks which had been rising following the data offer an early

:01:15. > :01:23.indicator of where china's economy is headed. An eight`month low, is

:01:24. > :01:26.this something to worry about all is this a signal that china's economy

:01:27. > :01:32.is on the trajectory the government is hoping for? I can assure

:01:33. > :01:36.investors will not be pleased with the news. Higher numbers are always

:01:37. > :01:48.more welcome. But the Chinese Premier did warn that expectations

:01:49. > :01:55.were being adjusted this year. Targets had been set much lower than

:01:56. > :02:04.the Golden figure. It is the figure that the government would need to

:02:05. > :02:07.reach to hit domestic stability. The Premier has already said that the

:02:08. > :02:15.government will tolerate a slower pace of growth. That is what this is

:02:16. > :02:21.indicated. You see that they will tolerate that. The leadership at the

:02:22. > :02:27.National People's Congress said they were keen to clamp down on

:02:28. > :02:32.pollution. How might this impact the manufacturing industry? It will

:02:33. > :02:41.absolutely impact, particularly in the north`east, a traditional

:02:42. > :02:47.manufacturing belt. Many factories that produce things like steel have

:02:48. > :02:53.already been told that they need to clean up their act. Many of the

:02:54. > :03:03.factories have been told they need to simply shut down and move inland

:03:04. > :03:07.waterway from Beijing. A lot of effort has focused on cleaning up

:03:08. > :03:15.the air. That will have an impact on the dirty industries.

:03:16. > :03:19.China's Xi Jinping is making his first visit to Europe as president.

:03:20. > :03:32.He will be meeting with President Obama. Comes after years of trade

:03:33. > :03:37.tensions. Still big deals in the offering.

:03:38. > :03:48.The Chinese leader on a landmark offer to deals in which it would

:03:49. > :03:55.feature prominently. The Netherlands is offering a sumptuous welcome.

:03:56. > :04:00.They will then visit Paris. Nothing is confirmed, but it is hoped that

:04:01. > :04:05.Airbus may get a major deal to sell 150 passenger jets to China. A deal

:04:06. > :04:16.linked to the opening of the new Airbus. Several sectors are being

:04:17. > :04:25.eyed by Paris. A carmaker will sign a long`awaited deal, opening up the

:04:26. > :04:32.capital to the Chinese. He will then had to Brussels for the first ever

:04:33. > :04:34.visit. Trade deals have improved since the resolution of an

:04:35. > :04:42.anti`dumping row of Chinese solar panels. The visit comes at a crucial

:04:43. > :04:48.time in international affairs. The EU is downgrading ties with Russia

:04:49. > :04:52.because of its actions in Crimea. For China that can only be an

:04:53. > :04:57.opportunity. A favoured reception leading to better trading terms and

:04:58. > :05:05.perhaps to that particular prize in Beijing, more transfers of Western

:05:06. > :05:10.technology. India has seen a growing phenomenon

:05:11. > :05:14.called page news, where money changes hands in return for

:05:15. > :05:17.sympathetic media coverage. There have been hundreds of cases

:05:18. > :05:25.involving politicians, celebrities and businessmen paying for reports

:05:26. > :05:31.dressed up as news. They are trained to tackle the problem.

:05:32. > :05:41.It is early in the morning and thousands of newspapers arrive in

:05:42. > :05:44.this deli ready for delivery. Like me, most of India's 800 million

:05:45. > :05:47.voters would depend on newspapers voters would depend on newspapers

:05:48. > :05:53.for a source of news. What is printed really matters. Especially

:05:54. > :05:59.in an election year. But now some people are concerned what is printed

:06:00. > :06:06.is not always the truth. And they point to a phenomenon known in the

:06:07. > :06:12.country as paid news. It started almost ten years ago. These presses

:06:13. > :06:21.belong to one of India's guest media houses. And to keep them busy, the

:06:22. > :06:27.company had an idea. It began charging celebrities and businessmen

:06:28. > :06:38.to cover show business and products in special supplements. It was

:06:39. > :06:40.unique because it offered advertisers something, more

:06:41. > :06:49.visibility. They wanted a comfortable, believable advertorial

:06:50. > :06:53.environment. We provided that. Increasingly politicians have paid

:06:54. > :06:59.to appear in print. Papers do not always like that. There is no law

:07:00. > :07:03.against it. `` do not always advertise that. The electoral

:07:04. > :07:13.commission has monitored this. But that is for exceeding election

:07:14. > :07:18.expenses, not misleading voters. This man stood in the assembly

:07:19. > :07:24.election last December. He was fined for paying for beneficial coverage.

:07:25. > :07:32.He wants to fight the seat again and is angry at what he insists was a

:07:33. > :07:37.false indictment. TRANSLATION: The commission is absolutely wrong. They

:07:38. > :07:43.helped me guilty. This is not my fault. I am famous. If I visit, some

:07:44. > :07:50.local newspapers want to cover that. I have not paid a single penny.

:07:51. > :07:54.Whether you think page news is acceptable or not, the reality is

:07:55. > :08:00.that many these newspapers you will find examples of stories that have

:08:01. > :08:06.been paid for. You would not know about it. That is why it has become

:08:07. > :08:11.one of the big topics. The world 's retail Congress kicks

:08:12. > :08:17.off today in Singapore Asia's growing e`commerce sector will be

:08:18. > :08:20.high on the agenda. It has outpaced any other, but it also poses

:08:21. > :08:32.challenges of the wall's largest retailer. `` for the world's. . In

:08:33. > :08:39.the US and Europe, they are 10% of total sales. In Asia, it is three

:08:40. > :08:44.`4%. But we think it will rise to something like 10%. Many of the

:08:45. > :08:58.trends that the US and Europe are being felt. What kinds of issues?

:08:59. > :09:04.For most retailers it is, how do the stores, how those coexist with smart

:09:05. > :09:09.phone and Internet. Thinking up strategies to make sure that

:09:10. > :09:13.customers do not just online. They have strategies in terms of customer

:09:14. > :09:22.experience and marketing to make them come in. As you said, there are

:09:23. > :09:33.so many different variants and ways people can pay. What will be the

:09:34. > :09:38.true mode? There will not be one mode. The challenge for retailers is

:09:39. > :09:42.to create multiple modes. Some people will want to continue to shop

:09:43. > :09:52.in store. Retailers have systems that a future proof and allow them

:09:53. > :10:00.to integrate. And not just manage a transaction in store.

:10:01. > :10:11.A quick look at the markets. We are still seeing some healthy gains

:10:12. > :10:25.across the board in Asia. That is essentially due to that weaker

:10:26. > :10:28.number that we saw from China. A little bit of caution. That is it

:10:29. > :10:31.for this addition of Asia Business Report.

:10:32. > :10:38.`` edition. You are watching BBC News. Here are

:10:39. > :10:40.the
