:00:00. > :00:00.Office says the company has been sold off to cheaply. Now time for

:00:00. > :00:13.the latest business news live from Singapore.

:00:14. > :00:21.In the limelight, find out why the Indonesian currency is the best

:00:22. > :00:25.performing in Asia. Aviation safety industry 's trade body warns against

:00:26. > :00:41.airlines being complacent. We start things off with a focus on

:00:42. > :00:47.currencies and the recent transformation of the Indonesian

:00:48. > :00:51.currency. Lastly it fell by 20% against the US dollar and was

:00:52. > :00:57.labelled the worst performing currency in the region. Now, it has

:00:58. > :01:01.emerged as Asia's best with recent gains due to an unexpected trade

:01:02. > :01:02.surplus banks to eight jump in pole oil prices and a slowdown in

:01:03. > :01:23.imports. Last year there were concerns about

:01:24. > :01:29.the Indonesian currency. When the facts started appearing about

:01:30. > :01:32.tampering, the focus started to go on vulnerable countries and

:01:33. > :01:38.Indonesia was the most vulnerable so the currency fell by 20%. They took

:01:39. > :01:44.active steps to address the situation. They made interest rates

:01:45. > :01:48.higher. This year we are starting to see some of the benefits of that.

:01:49. > :01:58.You mentioned that trade accounts turning into surplus so that is a

:01:59. > :02:02.real positive. Can this be sustained as it will not be as extensive going

:02:03. > :02:11.forward. The other thing that has affected the currency is the

:02:12. > :02:21.premium. We have seen the currency respond very positively. A lot of

:02:22. > :02:32.activity around Chinese currency. Is this an introduction for the yuan to

:02:33. > :02:36.move into full convertibility. The by 2020 it seems most likely, they

:02:37. > :02:46.have taken another step two weeks ago with the doubling of the yuan

:02:47. > :02:51.trading band. We will seek further steps in that direction. Are we

:02:52. > :02:56.likely to seek the band falling below six against the US dollar? I

:02:57. > :03:02.do not think the yuan will appreciate that strongly but the

:03:03. > :03:06.recent weakness looks to be done. I expect it to stabilise and show some

:03:07. > :03:19.appreciation eventually. Living up to a virtual currencies.

:03:20. > :03:24.The CEO of MtGox has been ordered by a US judge to appear in Dallas in

:03:25. > :03:30.two weeks time. At the offices of the law firm that represents the

:03:31. > :03:35.Bitcoin exchange. They want him to explain why the exchange shut down

:03:36. > :03:41.in February and what happened to their 750,000 Bitcoin. The exchange

:03:42. > :03:46.said that those coins was stolen in a computer hacking attack the

:03:47. > :03:53.customers are alleging that MtGox insiders may have stolen their

:03:54. > :03:58.Bitcoin. Singapore 's Noble group is selling 51% of its agricultural unit

:03:59. > :04:02.to Chinese state`owned twopenny. The final price is yet to be determined.

:04:03. > :04:06.They said they will make an initial payment of one half billion dollars

:04:07. > :04:13.in cash. This deal gives China access to a stable supply of

:04:14. > :04:17.agricultural resources. Oil giant, BP will be ceasing production at a

:04:18. > :04:21.refinery in Brisbane due to competition from bigger and more

:04:22. > :04:27.cost effective refineries in Asia. Operations at BP's Island will stop

:04:28. > :04:32.by the middle of next year. Australia's refineries are mainly

:04:33. > :04:38.owned by EP, Shell and Caltex. Many of them have recorded losses over

:04:39. > :04:44.the last few years due to a high Australian dollar and the rise of

:04:45. > :04:52.mega refineries in the region. In aviation, Germany has cancelled

:04:53. > :04:58.thousands of flights in anticipation of a strike. The cancellations will

:04:59. > :05:01.affect 425,000 passengers. The carrier said earlier this week that

:05:02. > :05:06.the industrial action will cost the airline tens of millions of Euros.

:05:07. > :05:10.The dispute with its pilots over pay has been going on now for if you

:05:11. > :05:13.months. The airline has been trying to cut costs amid tougher

:05:14. > :05:20.competition from European budget carriers and aggressively expanding

:05:21. > :05:24.government owned Gulf airlines. How is it that a plane goes missing and

:05:25. > :05:29.despite best efforts cannot be found? The International air

:05:30. > :05:34.transport Association have called on government and industry to improve

:05:35. > :05:38.global tracking of aircraft and make more effective use of passenger

:05:39. > :05:45.data. In 2013, there were over 29 million flights with 12 Hull

:05:46. > :05:50.losses. That is one accident for every 2.4 million flights. Accident

:05:51. > :05:53.are rare but the current search for MH370 is a reminder that we can

:05:54. > :06:01.never be complacent on safety. Earlier I spoke with an aviation

:06:02. > :06:06.expert from the Singapore Management University. That are lots of

:06:07. > :06:11.improvements that could be made. The industry organisation will have to

:06:12. > :06:17.get together and make sure that they can advance the agenda. You have to

:06:18. > :06:20.understand also that the airlines are subject to the regulations of

:06:21. > :06:24.the respective government. An industry body can push but it is

:06:25. > :06:30.ultimately up to the local government to decide what

:06:31. > :06:37.regulations they will put in. These types of multilateral actions takes

:06:38. > :06:43.times, once and years. Shouldn't this type of incident, what happened

:06:44. > :06:47.to MH370, shouldn't there be changes to prevent another plane

:06:48. > :06:53.disappearing? I agree. They should make sure that the conclusions of

:06:54. > :06:59.such suggestions be readied by the end of 2014. We are still talking

:07:00. > :07:01.about months but we at talking about authorities that... This is still

:07:02. > :07:07.from the industry body and we have to wait for the regulatory

:07:08. > :07:12.authorities to make the decision. Cut the red tape! All of these

:07:13. > :07:19.airlines should have these tracking system. I fully agree with you. The

:07:20. > :07:24.question operationally. Once we have a new system, they must be certified

:07:25. > :07:33.and put into existing air planes. And that will take a lot of time to

:07:34. > :07:41.a low of the revelatory measures take time.

:07:42. > :07:48.They say that laughter is the best medicine. Some are born with the

:07:49. > :07:51.gift of comedy and others think they could learn from it but can you make

:07:52. > :07:56.a career out of teaching people to be funny? In a look at some of

:07:57. > :07:58.Asia's coolest jobs, our correspondent beat a stand`up

:07:59. > :08:09.comedian. My wife is British and so polite

:08:10. > :08:13.that she got money from the ATM and she said thank you. If you want to

:08:14. > :08:19.be a comedian, you had better feel comfortable poking fun at your

:08:20. > :08:22.spouse. Making strangers laugh can be a tough gig but it is something

:08:23. > :08:29.that this man thrives on. I always wanted to be a comedian, laughing

:08:30. > :08:36.and being the first one to tell a joke. He started out more than two

:08:37. > :08:41.decades ago at a university competition. But it was not until

:08:42. > :08:49.years later that he got the courage to take a chance at going

:08:50. > :08:54.professional. He now owns a comedy are in Asia where revenue has

:08:55. > :08:58.tripled over the past seven years. His club is in Hong Kong's Soho

:08:59. > :09:05.district. A bustling neighbourhood known for its fine dining and

:09:06. > :09:09.nightlife. Most of his customers are young professionals, looking for a

:09:10. > :09:14.fun night out. He lives to perform and it is obviously his first love.

:09:15. > :09:18.He is also an entrepreneur, creating a sustainable business will stop

:09:19. > :09:27.that is why his club welcomes not just established performers but also

:09:28. > :09:29.trains complete newcomers. The first 30 seconds is when the audience

:09:30. > :09:35.decides whether they like you or not. He teaches comedians.

:09:36. > :09:37.Microphone techniques, how to deliver a punchline and what to do

:09:38. > :09:44.if the audience just is not laughing. About four minutes is

:09:45. > :09:53.better than a bad six minutes. If you are not having it, don't keep

:09:54. > :09:59.digging it. Walk off. You a pig in `` digging a big hole for the next

:10:00. > :10:03.comedian. Is just one of the challenges that he faces as a comedy

:10:04. > :10:08.teacher. So what is the worst part of the job? Paperwork and

:10:09. > :10:15.accounting, associated with running a business. In spite of the

:10:16. > :10:19.pitfalls, many comedians feel stand`up is the coolest job around.

:10:20. > :10:27.When you get it right, it might just be worth quitting your day job for.

:10:28. > :10:42.Thanks for watching Asia Business Report. Sportsday is up next. A new

:10:43. > :10:43.story is this hour. Authorities
