:00:39. > :00:40.on ABC World News. Recasting the viewers around the world. We start

:00:41. > :00:42.off with Chinese microblogging site Weibo. Dubbed China's Twitter, it is

:00:43. > :01:00.set to launch in the US later today. Weibo is set to make its debut on

:01:01. > :01:04.the tech heavy NASDAQ exchange in the US later today. But given that

:01:05. > :01:16.technology issues that have taken a beating, can Weibo follow in its

:01:17. > :01:20.footsteps is back? The in the short term, there are some answers. Tech

:01:21. > :01:23.stocks have been falling, because people are aware of the Chinese

:01:24. > :01:28.comedies and afraid of that. `` Chinese companies. Will investors

:01:29. > :01:33.want to make a bet on Weibo, when the company lost considerable

:01:34. > :01:43.amounts in the first quarter? After their earnings, it is just about $4

:01:44. > :01:46.million. Investors will buy it not because of current earnings but

:01:47. > :01:54.future monetisation potential. And what is the future monetisation

:01:55. > :01:59.potential of Weibo? It is one of the most important sorts sources of

:02:00. > :02:10.information dissemination in China. After MH 370, it has generated

:02:11. > :02:13.considerable traffic. They have some missteps in the past, in their

:02:14. > :02:15.strategy, but partnering with Ali Baba, and plans to monetise the

:02:16. > :02:36.platform show positive steps. More news on the technology front.

:02:37. > :02:40.Google shares have lost 6% following disappointing earnings result. It

:02:41. > :02:44.posted a net income of 3.5 billion dollars for the three months ending

:02:45. > :02:47.in March. Revenues were below estimates due to slower growth in

:02:48. > :02:50.its core advertising business. IBM stock also crumbled, falling due

:02:51. > :02:58.to worse than expected sales numbers. The world largest tech

:02:59. > :03:07.service companies saw revenues drop. Slower than analysts forecast.

:03:08. > :03:13.They are struggling with shrieking demand for their storage products as

:03:14. > :03:19.more users move to use cloud computer you. And one of the better

:03:20. > :03:22.performers was Coca`Cola, shares jumped by more than 4% during strong

:03:23. > :03:24.sales growth in China and other emerging markets.

:03:25. > :03:27.The world's largest beverage maker posted revenues of $10.6 billion for

:03:28. > :03:30.the first quarter. That beats analyst estimates. They have

:03:31. > :03:31.invested in healthier products such as fruit juice to help offset slower

:03:32. > :03:41.sales and market such as the US. Chinese technology giant handset is

:03:42. > :03:53.set to launch a local version of popular mobile game Candy Crush. The

:03:54. > :03:56.free game offers players to light up colourful pansies and it is hoped

:03:57. > :04:02.the new version will draw in millions of new users. The company

:04:03. > :04:06.owns the rights to Candy Crush and have started to see sales of light

:04:07. > :04:08.in the US and Europe. A big jump in first`quarter profits are expected

:04:09. > :04:14.for ZTE, one of the world's largest technology companies. They make

:04:15. > :04:16.mobile phones and technology equipment, and have recently changed

:04:17. > :04:25.their business strategy after posting a big loss.

:04:26. > :04:30.Our Hong Kong correspondent has more. Making cheap and cheerful

:04:31. > :04:36.products. ZTE was one of many Chinese companies to take this tried

:04:37. > :04:38.and true route to success. That strategy has made the company one of

:04:39. > :04:45.the world's top five manufacturers of telecommunications equipment.

:04:46. > :04:49.But in the competitive world of technology, business models which

:04:50. > :05:00.have worked for years sometimes come quickly obsolete. Wake`up call came

:05:01. > :05:03.in 2012, when ZTE posted its first ever annual loss. It offered low

:05:04. > :05:08.prices in order to expand and win market share, which was no longer

:05:09. > :05:10.making money. Since then, ZTE has focused on offering higher and

:05:11. > :05:21.product and cutting back on products. They reported a profit

:05:22. > :05:32.last year. It now boasts of filing more patents globally than any other

:05:33. > :05:34.company. Investors here in Hong Kong will be poring over its

:05:35. > :05:39.first`quarter earnings to see is the new strategy continues to be a

:05:40. > :05:45.success. Turning down less lucrative projects in developing countries has

:05:46. > :05:50.helped ZTE return to profit but it has also led to a decline in overall

:05:51. > :05:54.revenue. A potentially worrying trend that investors are watching

:05:55. > :05:59.closely. Labour disputes pop up readily in

:06:00. > :06:08.China. But one strike is a attracting attention because of its

:06:09. > :06:14.size. 40,000 workers walked off the job on Monday at a shoe factory. A

:06:15. > :06:16.minority have also been involved in vocal protest. Our correspondent,

:06:17. > :06:23.Celia Hatton, reports. We are just outside the gates of one

:06:24. > :06:26.of the world's largest shoe factories. They assemble sneakers

:06:27. > :06:38.for some of the top global brands. The factory is quiet, as the workers

:06:39. > :06:41.at are all outside. They have been protesting for days, demanding

:06:42. > :06:45.unpaid social security benefits. And they are absolutely furious. They

:06:46. > :06:49.say they will not leave the site until the government the company pay

:06:50. > :06:51.them the benefit of a say they deserve.

:06:52. > :06:57.TRANSLATION: Our goal is for them to pay us the 11% social security

:06:58. > :06:58.benefits the law requires. We also want them to compensate us for

:06:59. > :07:10.underpaid efforts and overtime. Strikers marched through the

:07:11. > :07:16.streets, shouting their demands on Monday until they clashed with

:07:17. > :07:22.restless riot police. Dozens of workers were injured, some

:07:23. > :07:28.seriously. This woman is begging for donations to pay her husband

:07:29. > :07:33.hospital bills. He was so badly wounded in a protest that he can't

:07:34. > :07:37.speak, she cried. Still, the violence has done little to scare a

:07:38. > :07:42.way to workers. TRANSLATION: Until they give us compensation, we will

:07:43. > :07:47.not leave. If we have to die here, we will. The manufacturer is

:07:48. > :07:52.offering to pay full benefits by 2015. But the workers say that is

:07:53. > :07:55.not enough to end the strike. As long as they stand outside the

:07:56. > :07:59.factory gates, police will wait here too.

:08:00. > :08:05.How many jobs have you had since you left school? According to a new

:08:06. > :08:11.report, millennial 's will be changing jobs more than previous

:08:12. > :08:15.generations. Younger workers expect to work for 13 different employees

:08:16. > :08:20.over their career which works out to an average of about three years per

:08:21. > :08:22.job. What's more? Strong economic growth in Asia means workers here

:08:23. > :08:26.even less likely to with their current job. We are some younger

:08:27. > :08:32.workers in India about their future plans. Since I left school, this is

:08:33. > :08:43.my second job. I have started a business of my own. I would not want

:08:44. > :08:53.to go back to a job. I will stick with the same job, unless there is

:08:54. > :08:58.no reason in salary. I think saturation at one job would be one

:08:59. > :09:05.reason for changing. Earlier I spoke to Brad Adams and asked which

:09:06. > :09:11.sectors are most affected by job hopping. Financial services, during

:09:12. > :09:14.during bonus seasons, also sales in Asia as well is digital market with

:09:15. > :09:17.emerging skills, regardless of what industry you are in, everybody is a

:09:18. > :09:27.technology company in one way or another.

:09:28. > :09:34.That is a high turnover, high demand area as well. Is it advisable to

:09:35. > :09:40.move from job to job in this current economic environment? It can be good

:09:41. > :09:43.as well as bad. As an employee, in your career, professionally, on the

:09:44. > :09:45.upside, you can command a significant switching premium to

:09:46. > :09:57.walk across the street to work for another company. How much of a

:09:58. > :10:05.premium? Depending on who you are, anywhere from ten to 20%. Compared

:10:06. > :10:07.with 2.5% annual pay increase. So significant economics to another

:10:08. > :10:20.company or pointed with the same company for another year.

:10:21. > :10:26.Asian stocks are mostly higher ahead of the Easter weekend. Thank you so

:10:27. > :10:38.much for investing your time with us. I Rico Hizon.

:10:39. > :10:47.The main news stories is out. Families are continuing their wait

:10:48. > :10:49.for news of those still missing when a ferry capsized off South Korea.
