:00:00. > :00:14.Now on BBC News all the latest business news live from Singapore.

:00:15. > :00:22.More economic gloom ahead. The bank slashes its forecast for a global

:00:23. > :00:33.economy. And a look at how the lack of reporting on cyber security in

:00:34. > :00:37.Asia is affecting businesses. Hello world and hello Asia. I'm glad you

:00:38. > :00:46.could join us for this Thursday edition of Asian users -- business

:00:47. > :00:59.report. Growth may continue to limp along. It predicts that it will grow

:01:00. > :01:04.of 2.9%. In East Asia and the Pacific growth is expected to slow

:01:05. > :01:09.to 6.3% largely due to a sputtering Chinese economy. In south Asia it is

:01:10. > :01:16.a bright spot expected to grow by seven points 3% this year. My

:01:17. > :01:19.colleague spoke to one of the reporters who said that falling

:01:20. > :01:30.commodity prices were one of the big drags on global growth. Since 2011,

:01:31. > :01:35.even metal prices have fallen. All commodity exporting countries are

:01:36. > :01:41.really feeling the pinch and are struggling to adjust. Talk about a

:01:42. > :01:51.perfect storm in your report. This is a key risk to global growth. A

:01:52. > :01:57.number of emerging markets slow at the same time, and we estimate that

:01:58. > :02:18.a one percentage point decline will slow growth in other emerging

:02:19. > :02:23.markets I .8 -- .8%. The outlook is growing in this economy down from

:02:24. > :02:29.6.9% in 2050 26 points seven in this coming year. There are a lot of

:02:30. > :02:34.uncertainty. There is on Sol property in the city. There is a lot

:02:35. > :02:39.of debt in this economy and there are uncertainties about the stock

:02:40. > :02:45.market. Only on Monday, prices on the Shanghai market dropped by 7%.

:02:46. > :02:51.Last August the government of measures to prop up stock prices.

:02:52. > :02:56.And some of them are due to expire on Friday. So a slight slowdown in

:02:57. > :03:06.growth but lots of uncertainties which may yet derail that forecast.

:03:07. > :03:11.India is being seen as a bright spot in the region. The World Bank

:03:12. > :03:15.predicts it will grow by seven points eight said in the next

:03:16. > :03:21.financial year. The two elements working in favour of India are local

:03:22. > :03:25.prices and an improvement in the Western climate. A lot feel that if

:03:26. > :03:30.India is to sustain the growth in the long run then issues like poor

:03:31. > :03:38.infrastructure and tax reforms need immediate attention. In Brazil,

:03:39. > :03:42.policymakers have been hoping 2016 would be the year that this economy

:03:43. > :03:47.started to emerge from recession but that is not likely to be the case

:03:48. > :03:51.according to the World Bank. It is said that it will fall even deeper

:03:52. > :03:54.into crisis. Both consumers and investors are holding on to their

:03:55. > :03:57.money because they have no confidence that things will get

:03:58. > :04:02.better any time soon. One of the reasons for that is political

:04:03. > :04:08.uncertainty as the president fights against an impeachment process. Is

:04:09. > :04:13.not clear whether she will have the political capital to push ahead with

:04:14. > :04:27.her economic reforms. Let us have a look at oil prices and how they are

:04:28. > :04:36.keen fairing today. We are seeing it at 33.97. The movie streaming

:04:37. > :04:42.service, Netflix, has gone live throughout the world. It is still

:04:43. > :04:52.trying to expand into China. The other exceptions are North Korea,

:04:53. > :04:59.serial and Crimea -- Syria. The shares jumped in the news. Microsoft

:05:00. > :05:04.would tell its customers if they suspect they are being hacked by

:05:05. > :05:12.someone working for a government. Many technology companies in this

:05:13. > :05:15.region, however, and not required to tell customers about any security

:05:16. > :05:22.breaches at all. Earlier, I asked this man, the chief executive of our

:05:23. > :05:40.networks if this is why there seems to be so few companies in Asia. I

:05:41. > :05:49.think part of that is there are limited reports. Would Asia be

:05:50. > :05:58.better off if customers -- companies went public with these breaches? You

:05:59. > :06:04.are more likely to take action in order to stop those things for from

:06:05. > :06:07.occurring in the future and that seems to work that way. It has been

:06:08. > :06:15.more than a year since the major Sony incident. Why are cyber attacks

:06:16. > :06:19.taking place so frequently? Have they changed what they do since the

:06:20. > :06:23.incident? They happen more thing very quickly and part of the problem

:06:24. > :06:27.is that if we continue to use all fashion technology we can never keep

:06:28. > :06:30.up with that. Part of it is part of the divergence of using the next

:06:31. > :06:42.stage technology or using old technology that does detection. The

:06:43. > :06:46.key is to stay ahead of the curve against the hackers. Is very hard

:06:47. > :06:50.because it is a technology battle. We have a highly automated

:06:51. > :06:57.adversarial and we have manual responses. If it is people versus

:06:58. > :07:06.technology is very hard to stay ahead. Apple shares dropped below

:07:07. > :07:10.$100 per share for the first time in nearly five months. On Wednesday its

:07:11. > :07:23.shares recovered some of that ground closing at $100 and 70 cents. Having

:07:24. > :07:28.lost 2%. It came at the back of slowing shipments of its newest

:07:29. > :07:32.phones. They failed to decline. Your choice goes towards funding a huge

:07:33. > :07:39.industry that is growing ever bigger. Especially in Asia. The

:07:40. > :07:45.Chinese film market is forecast to overtake the US is the largest

:07:46. > :07:50.within two years. We have been speaking to the executive director

:07:51. > :07:55.of the Asian film Festival about the challenges of making films in Asia.

:07:56. > :08:02.I feel it is quite important that we create our own market for our film.

:08:03. > :08:05.Whether that is able to share our resources and travel to the other

:08:06. > :08:09.country, that is still an experiment. But the energy and the

:08:10. > :08:15.willingness to do it is their right now. We realise that we need to have

:08:16. > :08:20.our films travel out of our country. How tough is it for a film

:08:21. > :08:28.maker here in Southeast Asia, Malaysia or Singapore to be able to

:08:29. > :08:31.find investment for their films? Finding funds for a movie is hard

:08:32. > :08:38.everywhere. Mainly because the business of film does not quite make

:08:39. > :08:44.sense. One plus one does not necessarily equal two. What you get

:08:45. > :08:49.the elements right place it an amazing success and could make

:08:50. > :08:58.history in your own country because our cinemas are still developing. I

:08:59. > :09:04.suppose that in terms of funding, people are looking for a global

:09:05. > :09:09.story. I think there is a sense of adventure to try to use cast from

:09:10. > :09:15.different countries and cinematographers. I think that

:09:16. > :09:18.collaboration will only grow and make our films better. You were

:09:19. > :09:23.involved in one of Singapore's most successful movies in recent years

:09:24. > :09:28.but did very well at the Cannes film Festival. What lessons did you

:09:29. > :09:38.learn? It was really a magical project that had a life of its own.

:09:39. > :09:50.I will watch your hair. We were very lucky that it's one a award at the

:09:51. > :09:55.festival. It also won one at a Chinese film Festival. The Golden

:09:56. > :09:59.horse award. We were able to hit both markets in terms of the critics

:10:00. > :10:08.and it translated into commercial success as well. For films you need

:10:09. > :10:15.to recuperate your budget to see any profits. Before we got here is a

:10:16. > :10:19.quick look at the market. Asia is retreating on early Thursday trade

:10:20. > :10:25.after a Wall Street rout overnight due to poor Chinese economic data.

:10:26. > :10:28.The North Korean nuclear test and tensions in the Middle East. Make

:10:29. > :10:38.you very much for investing your time with us. Goodbye for now. You

:10:39. > :10:41.are watching BBC News.
