:00:13. > :00:20.??NEWELEMENT What will renewed worries about the state of the

:00:21. > :00:27.global economy mean for investor sentiment for the remainder of the

:00:28. > :00:28.year? And China reveals a device with an additional option. Will this

:00:29. > :00:41.help to get more sales? Good morning, Asia, hello world.

:00:42. > :00:46.Glad you could join us for this Friday edition of Asia Business

:00:47. > :00:52.Report, I am Rico Hizon. We are seeing a weak start for markets

:00:53. > :00:56.across Asia at the end of the trading week, before the weekend,

:00:57. > :01:00.this follows a down day on Wall Street overnight. Earlier this week

:01:01. > :01:04.the World Bank lowered its global growth forecast and that has renewed

:01:05. > :01:09.worries among investors. We also have a slide in oil prices

:01:10. > :01:15.overnight, also waiting on US energy stocks. Japan's Nikkei is down by

:01:16. > :01:21.about 74 points, that is about 0.4%. The all ordinaries also in negative

:01:22. > :01:24.territory. So what is likely to be the tone for the markets for the

:01:25. > :01:29.second half of the year? Let get some direction from Michael

:01:30. > :01:34.McCarthy, joining us from Sydney. Thank you so much for joining us,

:01:35. > :01:39.Michael. First of all, if you take a look at the Asian market indices

:01:40. > :01:44.there is a lot of unevenness in the trends. Japan is up, Australia is

:01:45. > :01:47.up, but Hong Kong is down. The Philippines is in positive

:01:48. > :01:51.territory. So there is a lot of volatility in the first half. Is

:01:52. > :01:58.this likely to continue from the second half of the year? That seems

:01:59. > :02:02.very likely, acrid that volatility is being caused by differing

:02:03. > :02:10.standards around the globe. -- that seems very likely, Rico. Those

:02:11. > :02:14.crossflow is in markets mean that the volatility we saw particularly

:02:15. > :02:18.in the first quarter of this year is likely to be repeated again as

:02:19. > :02:23.investors and sentiment respond to those various central bank moves.

:02:24. > :02:27.This volatility is very good for traders like yourself and your

:02:28. > :02:33.colleagues behind you but a lot of a knees for medium and long-term

:02:34. > :02:38.investors. That's right, Rico volatility is the traders but was

:02:39. > :02:43.friend but it can spook investors and cause concerns. It is because of

:02:44. > :02:47.the heightened risks which occur in volatile markets, there can be more

:02:48. > :02:50.rewards. Those investors who can steal themselves to invest through

:02:51. > :02:55.the volatility can do very well in markets moving as rapidly as the

:02:56. > :02:59.markets we are seeing today -- steel themselves. Apart from global

:03:00. > :03:02.economic growth and the potential rate hike from the US Federal

:03:03. > :03:09.Reserve over the next few months, what other factors should investors

:03:10. > :03:14.be watching out for the second half? Quite clearly out of Europe you have

:03:15. > :03:17.the potential for the British to vote to leave the European Union,

:03:18. > :03:21.and while that is not a likely scenario it is a possibility and a

:03:22. > :03:24.risk for markets and the ongoing watch that we have in the

:03:25. > :03:28.Asia-Pacific region is on China and its growth prospects. We will get

:03:29. > :03:31.another read early next week on industrial production and retail

:03:32. > :03:36.sales and the demand we saw coming through on imports in the recent

:03:37. > :03:39.trade data gives us some reasons to be optimistic about the potential

:03:40. > :03:43.for retail sales and possibly even industrial production to surprise on

:03:44. > :03:47.the upside. That of course would be a real support for risk assets in

:03:48. > :03:51.the region and around the globe. Given this current market landscape,

:03:52. > :03:55.Michael, what are you telling investors and clients? How should

:03:56. > :04:01.they manage their money, briefly? Stay active and use the derivatives.

:04:02. > :04:04.The moment that tools available are important for investors who can do

:04:05. > :04:10.the hard work, to understand how they can do well in the current

:04:11. > :04:13.market. Michael McCarthy, joining us from the Sydney trading floor, thank

:04:14. > :04:18.you for your views. Honda is recalling 784,000 vehicles in Japan

:04:19. > :04:30.due to faulty airbag inflated as forefront passenger seats. --

:04:31. > :04:33.inflators. The faulty inflators have been responsible for at least 11

:04:34. > :04:41.fatalities worldwide and more than 100 injuries. Click for food. Amazon

:04:42. > :04:45.has launched a full online supermarket service in the UK,

:04:46. > :04:49.covering areas in central and East London. The service will be expanded

:04:50. > :04:55.to other areas but the company has not set a specific date for the

:04:56. > :05:04.rollout. The supermarket service has been running in the US since 2007. A

:05:05. > :05:07.French court has imposed a $900,000 fine on the right hailing

:05:08. > :05:15.application Uber for running an illegal taxi service, Uber POP, for

:05:16. > :05:19.non- professional drivers. It also slapped fines on two executives. The

:05:20. > :05:23.case is the first of its kind in Europe. A spokesman says the company

:05:24. > :05:29.will appeal against the court ruling. Motorola has announced a new

:05:30. > :05:34.telephone line up that lets users snap on optional hardware. The

:05:35. > :05:38.Chinese device maker slipped to number six among the world's top

:05:39. > :05:49.smartphone makers earlier this year but they are hoping their new model

:05:50. > :05:57.will be boosting their sales. A senior executive explained the idea

:05:58. > :06:00.to our technology reporter. You are from Motorola and your big

:06:01. > :06:10.announcement has been this phone here. Yes, this is the Moto Z, 5.2

:06:11. > :06:15.millimetres thin, and the Moto Z Force, available in the US. The

:06:16. > :06:20.thing we are most excited about besides these flexible phones is the

:06:21. > :06:24.16 pins on the back which allow you to extend the capability of the

:06:25. > :06:28.phone. Additional sensors and capabilities. What I brought here

:06:29. > :06:32.today is a sound booster which attaches to the back like this and

:06:33. > :06:37.snaps on, it becomes part of the device. What I was showing earlier,

:06:38. > :06:43.you start playing music, you can hear it from the front speakers. It

:06:44. > :06:48.is fairly quiet right now. Once you attach the speakers you can

:06:49. > :06:54.definitely hear it. Quite a difference. It has a nice little

:06:55. > :06:59.kickstand so you can... OK, so obviously there is plenty of

:07:00. > :07:03.Bluetooth speakers on the market. I have one in my kitchen at home. Why

:07:04. > :07:06.would I go to the bother of getting this phone to do that? Dust like the

:07:07. > :07:12.best camera is one that is always with you, the best loud speakers are

:07:13. > :07:17.the ones that are with you -- just like. Fitting in your pocket is

:07:18. > :07:21.fantastic. Secondly we have this projector. I still have Google Play

:07:22. > :07:27.music on here but let's start The Project. You can see it on the wall.

:07:28. > :07:31.It is a little bright and I am projecting on a projection, but you

:07:32. > :07:39.can see that everything we do here is high speed. And so these added

:07:40. > :07:44.accessories, how much would someone expect to pay to get the projector

:07:45. > :07:51.or the speakers, what is the type of price? We are not talking about

:07:52. > :07:54.prices on the modifications yet. Well, the luxury goods market has

:07:55. > :07:58.been through a boom but now we are seeing a slowdown in Asia and in

:07:59. > :08:01.parts of Europe. That has not stopped many of the big names

:08:02. > :08:08.continuing to expand their business, opening new and costly stores. The

:08:09. > :08:12.chief executive of the company was in London to open their new

:08:13. > :08:23.boutique. If you examine the history, we had some passage and

:08:24. > :08:29.flowing down in 2008 and 2009, but luxury for the big houses, the big

:08:30. > :08:34.names, have been reborn. From time to time it is flat, because you know

:08:35. > :08:39.what happened in Paris, for instance. Then you have the problems

:08:40. > :08:48.with Hong Kong, the Chinese market is still doing well domestically.

:08:49. > :08:53.But tourist are paying less. -- tourists. It is not the kind of

:08:54. > :08:58.gross we have in the last years, but I am confident with the luxury

:08:59. > :09:03.sector in the medium and long-term. You mentioned the challenge of store

:09:04. > :09:08.openings, during your tenure Dior has opened 200 stores globally. That

:09:09. > :09:12.is interesting because many of your competitors these days are choosing

:09:13. > :09:17.not to invest in the overheads related to physical stores, instead

:09:18. > :09:21.choosing to invest in the e-commerce site of their business. Why are you

:09:22. > :09:27.focusing on the stores themselves? When you buy perfume, when you come

:09:28. > :09:33.ready to order, and the type of ready to order we sell, you need

:09:34. > :09:37.advice, you need fitting. You may come with a boyfriend, it may come

:09:38. > :09:41.with your husband, you may come with your daughter. You may come alone,

:09:42. > :09:49.but you need to communicate. It is not just buying a jacket. It is

:09:50. > :09:54.about continuing the dream. And that was Dior's chief executive speaking

:09:55. > :09:59.to the BBC's Alice back staff. We are talking about the Asian markets,

:10:00. > :10:08.being in negative territory -- Alice Baxter. China's slowing growth, the

:10:09. > :10:12.Brexit. The markets are in broad decline in commodity and stock

:10:13. > :10:17.prices in major world markets, lifting the Japanese yen against the

:10:18. > :10:20.US dollar. It is always a safe haven currency during times of uncertainty

:10:21. > :10:25.and after reaching an 11 month peak, oil prices are taking a breather as

:10:26. > :10:32.you can see on your screens. Light crude, 50.47, Brent crude, 51.8

:10:33. > :10:35.five. Thank you for investing your time with us. I am Rico Hizon.

:10:36. > :10:39.Goodbye for now. The top stories this hour:

:10:40. > :10:41.Hillary Clinton has been publicly endorsed by President Obama

:10:42. > :10:45.in her bid to become the next
