:00:16. > :00:22.?1 billion, that is one big investment from a Chinese

:00:23. > :00:30.entrepreneur into the city of Sheffield. And sponsors of banking

:00:31. > :00:41.attempt to drive up sales as India goes crazy for Kabali. Welcome to

:00:42. > :00:45.the Asia Business Report. Finance ministers from the world's against

:00:46. > :00:50.economies have wrapped up the T20 summit with a pledge to support

:00:51. > :00:55.global growth and improve on sharing the benefits of trade. The meeting

:00:56. > :01:02.was somewhat dominated by the impact of Brexit and fears of rising

:01:03. > :01:07.protectionism. Britain's Finance Minister said the UK is keen on a

:01:08. > :01:11.free-trade deal with China. As for the mainland, there is no secret

:01:12. > :01:15.that foreign investment is on the rise as the country would explore

:01:16. > :01:20.opportunities overseas. But the decision by one entrepreneur to

:01:21. > :01:34.invest ?1 billion in Sheffield seems remarkable. Our correspondent went

:01:35. > :01:40.to meet him. Chinese -- this Chinese construction tycoon's office sits on

:01:41. > :01:47.top of a tower block he built himself. He is unlikely as a

:01:48. > :01:50.candidate to take interest in regenerating British cities, but he

:01:51. > :01:56.says he sees opportunity. TRANSLATION: Sheffield has a great

:01:57. > :02:00.prospect for development. It is an industrial city and is just at the

:02:01. > :02:06.beginning of transition. It doesn't even have a 5-star hotel. He plans

:02:07. > :02:13.to change that and shows us the 5-star hotel that he has just opened

:02:14. > :02:19.in China. But to the announcement is almost certainly not a coincidence.

:02:20. > :02:24.It comes hot the heels of Britain's Brexit vote, just as the UK

:02:25. > :02:30.government is looking for high profile examples to show that the

:02:31. > :02:34.economy is still open for business. Nonetheless, there are important

:02:35. > :02:40.questions to be asked about exactly where this fountain of funding is

:02:41. > :02:47.springing from. This first bit of investment money is more than ?200

:02:48. > :02:51.million, and yet, the total market capital of your company is not much

:02:52. > :02:55.more than that. Can you afford it? No, you have got that wrong. Our

:02:56. > :03:02.publicly listed company is not involved in this any more. The

:03:03. > :03:07.investment is coming from our parent company, and those finances are not

:03:08. > :03:12.public. Wouldn't it be better if this investment was coming from a

:03:13. > :03:17.public company, backed by shareholders with all the oversight,

:03:18. > :03:25.rather than from this rather vague, somewhat opaque financing vehicle

:03:26. > :03:30.controlled by you? If we had used our publicly listed company to

:03:31. > :03:33.invest, the red tape would have been too complicated and time-consuming.

:03:34. > :03:38.But every shareholder understands every decision we make and the board

:03:39. > :03:46.might not have voted for all of our decisions. Hanging with pride, these

:03:47. > :03:52.pictures show the investor meeting a young Xi Jinping. If there are any

:03:53. > :03:56.concerns over the financial complexities of the Sheffield deal,

:03:57. > :04:04.when it comes to his political credentials, he looks rock solid.

:04:05. > :04:22.In other news:: American telecoms giant, Verizon, will reportedly

:04:23. > :04:28.purchased Yahoo! For $5 million. An official announcement is expected on

:04:29. > :04:34.Monday for US markets opened for trading. Japan's latest trade

:04:35. > :04:46.figures showed a 7% fall in exports from one year ago. Imports fell by

:04:47. > :04:55.nearly 19% and the latest data also says there is a surplus. Now,

:04:56. > :05:02.Pokemon Go is not just leading players on a great adventure.

:05:03. > :05:08.Nintendo shares have been on the rise and companies that have similar

:05:09. > :05:11.products in their pipeline are also seeing trading gains even before

:05:12. > :05:19.they are launched. If the latest gaming crazed just a fad or here to

:05:20. > :05:22.stay? Here is the industry response. I personally think that Pokemon Go

:05:23. > :05:34.is here to stay. One reason is that it already has amassed a critical

:05:35. > :05:41.number of users in several dozen countries, and the other reason is

:05:42. > :05:45.that other keen markets in the world, such as China, have not even

:05:46. > :05:50.seen the game yet. At the moment, I think we are looking at 40 countries

:05:51. > :05:56.where the application is available, and the worldwide roll-out is not

:05:57. > :06:09.yet realised. Not all popular games have made companies rich, what did

:06:10. > :06:16.Nintendo to write with -- do right with Pokemon Go? It is not really a

:06:17. > :06:22.Nintendo game, it was made by a start-up in San Francisco. Nintendo

:06:23. > :06:28.was a very welcoming to the idea when it was pitched to them to bring

:06:29. > :06:36.Pokemon Go to mobile devices for the first time, and the critical point

:06:37. > :06:43.is that the game has not only found a big user base not just even after

:06:44. > :06:48.three weeks, but it is also making money. The monetisation techniques

:06:49. > :06:53.inside the game have been very successful. They have very

:06:54. > :06:59.successfully implemented this in the game. I think that is the key from

:07:00. > :07:03.an economic perspective. Over the weekend in India, hundreds of

:07:04. > :07:11.thousands of people flocked to the cinema to see a new film starring

:07:12. > :07:18.one of Asia's highest-paid actors. The film is estimated to have taken

:07:19. > :07:22.in at least $30 million since its release on Friday. It is not just

:07:23. > :07:24.the actor and producers who are set to profit. Companies are keen to tap

:07:25. > :07:36.in to the marketing potential. This is not just another film on an

:07:37. > :07:45.opening weekend. The actor on screen is the reigning superstar of India's

:07:46. > :07:55.film industry. And this is his latest film, Kabali. So slow that

:07:56. > :08:04.his face was painted on a plane. The airline sold special tickets to 180

:08:05. > :08:10.fans for around $100 each to fly from Bangalore to Chennai and watch

:08:11. > :08:14.the first showing of Kabali. The chief executive says the movie was

:08:15. > :08:18.the perfect way to showcase his brand. The plane is travelling

:08:19. > :08:26.across India and is certainly being noticed. They have at least 100

:08:27. > :08:31.people waiting outside for photographs. This is the most hotly

:08:32. > :08:35.anticipated film of the year, so it is not surprising to find people

:08:36. > :08:41.queueing up. At this cinema and many others like it, the opening weekend

:08:42. > :08:50.was sold out weeks in advance. It is not unusual for a big hit and India

:08:51. > :09:08.cinema lovers by nearly 3 million cinema tickets a year. -- buy.

:09:09. > :09:21.Cadbury's, Amazon and others are just some of the companies investing

:09:22. > :09:24.in the film. If you say Tamil, there is Malaysia, US, Germany, Singapore.

:09:25. > :09:32.There are pockets in Europe and Australia. There is a huge base in

:09:33. > :09:39.Canada. I think it is huge. I am sure it is only going to grow over a

:09:40. > :09:49.period of time when more companies are investing. More than half of

:09:50. > :09:53.India's films flop at the box offers, so commercial deals don't

:09:54. > :09:57.always pay off. But every now and then there is abuzz as big as this

:09:58. > :10:03.and it a gamble businesses are prepared to take.

:10:04. > :10:15.And a look at the markets before we go. Japan is hoping that stimulus

:10:16. > :10:21.measures will be announced fairly soon. There is also the Fred rule

:10:22. > :10:25.reserve meeting later this week. Thank you for watching. -- Federal

:10:26. > :10:33.reserve. The top stories this hour:

:10:34. > :10:35.An explosion in the southern German city of Ansbach has killed one

:10:36. > :10:39.person and injured several more.
