:00:14. > :00:20.President Trump is set to sign an executive order repealing

:00:21. > :00:35.environmental regulation. What could this mean for business? And American

:00:36. > :00:38.Airlines is looking to spread its wings and expand its roots to

:00:39. > :00:40.mainland China. Good morning, Asia. Hello, world. Welcome to Asia

:00:41. > :00:45.Business Report. Thank you for joining us. I'm Rico Hizon. It's a

:00:46. > :00:48.Tuesday. US markets ending flights overnight after some initial selling

:00:49. > :00:55.in reaction to President Trump's failed effort to overturn Obamacare.

:00:56. > :01:00.President Trump is expected to sign an executive order today that would

:01:01. > :01:04.dismantle environmental regulations put in place by his predecessor. His

:01:05. > :01:09.controversial move highlights achievements between the Donald

:01:10. > :01:14.Trump administration and climate change. Michelle Fleury was asked

:01:15. > :01:21.what we know about this executive order. Donald Trump is trying to

:01:22. > :01:27.make good on a promise, and that is to undo Barack Obama's climate push.

:01:28. > :01:31.He wants to focus on something called the Clean Power Plan which

:01:32. > :01:37.restricted greenhouse gas emissions from coal fired power plants. That

:01:38. > :01:44.is where it a significant amount of emissions come from in America. This

:01:45. > :01:51.rule, to give context, was targeted by Republicans, and they called it a

:01:52. > :01:56.jocular and overreach by Barack Obama. -- job killer. We should not

:01:57. > :02:00.be surprised it is on the chopping block. There is talk on a moratorium

:02:01. > :02:06.on coal mining on Federal land. That is expected to be reversed. You may

:02:07. > :02:11.recall that the president wanted to restore jobs in the coal industry

:02:12. > :02:13.during his campaign. There is doubt over whether this would achieve

:02:14. > :02:18.that. What about cultural implications over the new executive

:02:19. > :02:27.order? If you are talking about the coal power plant for, example, a way

:02:28. > :02:36.that America was going to meet the climate agreement, an agreement on

:02:37. > :02:39.trying to address climate change. What this executive order does,

:02:40. > :02:43.though we are not sure whether it will mention the Paris climate

:02:44. > :02:46.agreement, is it signals that fighting by no change is not a

:02:47. > :02:52.priority for this administration. That certainly America first applies

:02:53. > :02:56.more to the economy than it does to climate change. Michelle Fleury in

:02:57. > :03:01.New York. Future trade relations between China and the Donald Trump

:03:02. > :03:07.administration may be uncertain, but it is not stopping some carriers

:03:08. > :03:11.from charting new territory on the mainland. American Airlines could

:03:12. > :03:18.take a stake in the state-owned airline. Earlier, I took them I

:03:19. > :03:25.talked to break from Flight Global and asked him why they were

:03:26. > :03:28.interested in China. -- Greg. This follows a pattern we have seen

:03:29. > :03:37.recently. United airlines is interested in Beijing. There was a

:03:38. > :03:44.small stake taken in China Eastern in Shanghai. They want to improve

:03:45. > :03:53.their China access. They will take a small stake similar to what Delta

:03:54. > :03:58.did with China Eastern. Could be see US carriers increasing holdings and

:03:59. > :04:02.shareholdings in Chinese mainlands? That is contingent to open skies

:04:03. > :04:06.agreements forming between the United States and China. If you see

:04:07. > :04:12.that, you can see these carriers working more closely together. You

:04:13. > :04:20.might see some code-sharing. If this deal goes through between China

:04:21. > :04:23.Airlines and American Airlines. Unless they can have a joint

:04:24. > :04:40.venture, they will not be able to talk about price scheduling and

:04:41. > :04:43.other key things. If you see an increase in stakes in China, could

:04:44. > :04:47.this impact the likes of Cathay Pacific, Chinese carriers having a

:04:48. > :04:53.stake in the Hong Kong carrier? Hong Kong Airlines has a large

:04:54. > :05:01.codesharing deal with Cathay. If you see American Airlines trying to

:05:02. > :05:05.shift some of that traffic to China Southern and a stronger relationship

:05:06. > :05:10.between China Southern and Cathay, major competitors, I cannot imagine

:05:11. > :05:15.Cathay will be happy with that. In other news, Korean technology giant

:05:16. > :05:23.Samsung has revealed plans to sell refurbished versions of the Galaxy

:05:24. > :05:31.Note smartphones pulled from the markets due to battery issues. They

:05:32. > :05:35.took a huge hit over the trouble from the Note seven. Samsung said it

:05:36. > :05:41.will choose which markets to sell them after discussions with red Tory

:05:42. > :05:53.authorities and airlines. -- regulatory. Brazil's administration

:05:54. > :05:59.has ordered three more meatpacking and processing facilities to close,

:06:00. > :06:04.bringing it up to six, after risks of contamination. Import suspensions

:06:05. > :06:11.were lifted recently, though they are still in place in Europe and

:06:12. > :06:13.Hong Kong. Well, you have to have an iron stomach to succeed in the

:06:14. > :06:20.restaurant business in the Philippines. Robert runs the largest

:06:21. > :06:26.company in the country and is branching out to other countries in

:06:27. > :06:30.the world. As part of Two Minutes With, I spoke to their CEO to ask

:06:31. > :06:35.them how they stay ahead of the competition? With many competitors

:06:36. > :06:41.bringing up walls and other areas, a lot of inflow of remittances which

:06:42. > :06:46.we use increases the market. People who could not afford our food before

:06:47. > :06:53.can now. That is why we have expanded aggressively. But, Robert,

:06:54. > :06:57.it is extremely competitive in the Philippines. Every week there is a

:06:58. > :07:02.new franchise to be how do you stay ahead of the curve? We have 70 plus

:07:03. > :07:06.years of experience and have very good brands under our portfolio.

:07:07. > :07:12.With that leverage you get all the great spots in malls and other

:07:13. > :07:16.areas. When you have been there proving yourself time and time

:07:17. > :07:20.again, it will also be a repeat of other loyal customers. They will all

:07:21. > :07:23.come back and enjoy our great food. You have plans, basically, of

:07:24. > :07:32.increasing your international portfolio to 200 stores by 2020. How

:07:33. > :07:40.will you achieve this? We showcase and bring our brands all over the

:07:41. > :07:44.world. The difference with the Maxis Group is we have the portfolio,

:07:45. > :07:48.pizza, chicken, pancakes, and Japanese food. We have a lot of

:07:49. > :07:54.variety to bring towards the international market. Robert, you

:07:55. > :08:00.are a successful businessman in the Philippines. What implications of

:08:01. > :08:11.the policies of Rodrigo Duterte have on this? The business fundamentals

:08:12. > :08:17.are intact We are looking at a 6.5- 7.5 projected growth for 2017. High

:08:18. > :08:21.consumer spending is still there. We are in the right area and I think

:08:22. > :08:32.this will help us grow our business more. And that is our two minutes

:08:33. > :08:35.with Robert, CEO of Maxis Group in the Philippines. In the future, many

:08:36. > :08:39.jobs carried out by humans will instead be looked after by robots.

:08:40. > :08:42.In San Francisco, a glimpse of the future is on show, where a robot

:08:43. > :10:02.barista is turning heads. Let us take a look. ELECTRONIC MUSIC.

:10:03. > :10:10.Before we go, a quick look at the markets. Asian stocks are positive

:10:11. > :10:13.territory in early Tuesday training despite the Dow Jones industrial

:10:14. > :10:18.average falling for the eighth consecutive session. The Tokyo

:10:24. > :10:30.turning down against the dollar. The All Ords Index also higher by 43

:10:31. > :10:32.points. That is it for Asia Business Report. . I am Rico Hizon. See you
