:00:16. > :00:23.The world's biggest personal computer seller is about to release

:00:24. > :00:30.its latest earnings. Wheel it stemmed two years of profit falls?

:00:31. > :00:38.-- will it stem. And one in five women in India get paid work. Good

:00:39. > :00:40.morning, Asia. Hello, world. It's a Thursday. Welcome to today's edition

:00:41. > :00:51.of Asia Business Report. I'm Rico Hizon. We start off with Lenovo. The

:00:52. > :00:56.Chinese technology company reports its latest earnings and a few hours'

:00:57. > :01:02.time. Together with HP and Dell, they account for 50% of the PC

:01:03. > :01:08.market. Given that sales have fallen for two years, she did diversify

:01:09. > :01:15.more? I was told the man challenges of Lenovo. They have seen falling

:01:16. > :01:23.sales. When the market stabilises, it has to streamline its workforce.

:01:24. > :01:31.At the same time, it has to look at its portfolio. It has lost with the

:01:32. > :01:38.integration with Motorola. The purchase of IBM as well. Are they

:01:39. > :01:44.looking at bad bets in the medium term? We cannot say they are bad

:01:45. > :01:58.bets because Lenovo are still doing steps to ensure that the integration

:01:59. > :02:01.of Motorola is good. At the same time, the data centre business is

:02:02. > :02:04.pretty new and the sector is nascent for them. When will these two

:02:05. > :02:09.purchases bring in the cash for Lenovo? In the short to medium term,

:02:10. > :02:16.it is difficult and they may fall victim to consolidation. But it has

:02:17. > :02:21.to do a lot to grow its sale channel and work with customers and clients

:02:22. > :02:32.to ensure it is successful. They are being taken over by Huawei etc. What

:02:33. > :02:37.about the PC market? Is Lenovo going to get overtaken? In the first

:02:38. > :02:43.quarter, HP actually overtook Lenovo in the traditional laptop and

:02:44. > :02:50.notebook sectors. This is an interesting development because

:02:51. > :02:52.after HP's spin-off into two separate organisations, they have

:02:53. > :02:57.been very dynamic with integration and product design and aggressive

:02:58. > :03:01.marketing and have been able to catch up with Lenovo. And it is

:03:02. > :03:09.worrying for Lenovo because they have to improve in many aspects. For

:03:10. > :03:16.example, marketing, for example, in design, and most importantly,

:03:17. > :03:20.channel marketing has been weak. The US Federal Reserve has signalled it

:03:21. > :03:26.is close to raising interest rates once again. Fed policymakers meeting

:03:27. > :03:32.at the start of the month said another hike would soon be needed if

:03:33. > :03:38.the US economy stays on track. Minutes of the meeting showed they

:03:39. > :03:47.are also planning to reduce the 4.5 trillion dollars of US debt from the

:03:48. > :03:51.financial crisis. China's Radoslaw has been downgraded for the first

:03:52. > :03:56.time in three decades at the Beijing says its economic difficulties have

:03:57. > :04:01.been over exaggerated. There are concerns about the rising debt and

:04:02. > :04:09.slowing economic growth of China. A group of hackers say they have

:04:10. > :04:14.managed to trick the eye tech of Samsung using a contact lens. It is

:04:15. > :04:21.a security measure in venue smartphone. They say they are aware

:04:22. > :04:27.of the issue and it was to give them a fresh start after the faulty

:04:28. > :04:30.smartphones. Security is not just an issue for smartphone users, but

:04:31. > :04:40.content providers as well. New research shows they are said to be

:04:41. > :04:45.the largest piracy survey ever conducted from Columbia, Mexico,

:04:46. > :04:51.Ukraine, Indonesia, and Argentina. Latin America currently dominates.

:04:52. > :05:07.Numbers in Asia are expected to go, accounting for 70% of global

:05:08. > :05:10.Internet users. We have a tech security firm's opinion on how the

:05:11. > :05:12.problem will be tackled. In every country you need three things.

:05:13. > :05:17.Communication. Consumers need to know what is legal and what is not.

:05:18. > :05:20.We have people that don't know it is illegal. Then there is organised

:05:21. > :05:25.crime and everything in the middle. The second is a legal framework in

:05:26. > :05:35.the jurisdiction. The third is what we call a 360 degrees appreciation

:05:36. > :05:41.of technology. How high can the value of Bitcoin go? It has set a

:05:42. > :05:46.record high and is hovering under $200,500. It is seven years since

:05:47. > :05:54.the first transaction in the digital world. I asked why they are doing so

:05:55. > :05:58.well. Look at the global market for purchasing Bitcoin. Japan has

:05:59. > :06:03.recently recognised it as legal payment. Australia with the removal

:06:04. > :06:08.of VAT from transactions. There is positive sentiment for the world as

:06:09. > :06:12.far as acceptance of Bitcoin. It is gaining a lot of attention right

:06:13. > :06:19.now. But it is not the only digital currency. There are many crypto

:06:20. > :06:25.assets out there. Bitcoin has a market of $32 billion. The total

:06:26. > :06:30.market cap is somewhere around $50 billion for all of them. We still

:06:31. > :06:34.have a long way to go as far as traditional asset size is. Gold is

:06:35. > :06:38.trillions of dollars in volume in the market, for example. We still

:06:39. > :06:44.have a long way to go with crypto assets. With the markets seemingly

:06:45. > :06:51.at this point moving sideways, are many investors moving there assets

:06:52. > :06:56.into these digital currencies or crypto currencies? -- there. We are

:06:57. > :07:02.seeing movement into these assets. The early movers in the industry

:07:03. > :07:06.have been looking at Bitcoin and others for a couple of years and

:07:07. > :07:09.recommending it to their clients as well. Yeah. I think you will see

:07:10. > :07:15.more and more movement into the cryptocurrency world and crypto acid

:07:16. > :07:22.world. We will see more funding in it. The price is over $2000. What is

:07:23. > :07:26.the probability that it will crash? I don't think it would ever crashed

:07:27. > :07:36.20. There is always the possibility it will correct. -- crash to zero.

:07:37. > :07:41.They are a small market caps. It is volatile. I would not recommend it

:07:42. > :07:45.for anyone not comfortable taking on a high risk investment. A Bitcoin

:07:46. > :07:50.expert. One of the largest populations of working people in the

:07:51. > :07:54.world is India. A reports as fewer women are entering the workforce.

:07:55. > :08:01.Today, one in five women in urban areas are in paid employment. The

:08:02. > :08:04.gap in the market will have serious ramifications for the economic

:08:05. > :08:08.growth of India according to new reports. What is stopping them from

:08:09. > :08:14.working? I did not want to do a nine to five job. I wanted to pursue my

:08:15. > :08:18.dreams. I do not work any more because I want to look after my

:08:19. > :08:25.child, and that is more important to me. If you want something, you have

:08:26. > :08:33.to give up on something, right? My child is the first priority. Like I

:08:34. > :08:38.said, I want him to understand my love. I don't want to miss out on

:08:39. > :08:48.the fun things he does at home. I don't want to miss out on any of the

:08:49. > :08:53.things he says. Hats off to the women who manage to work. Raising a

:08:54. > :08:58.child is a lot of work. It is draining, emotionally and

:08:59. > :09:02.physically. We are trying to build our future and the future of our

:09:03. > :09:07.child on a road. There is a certain standard of living in Mumbai.

:09:08. > :09:14.Quitting my job would obviously have an impact on that. We like to go on

:09:15. > :09:22.holidays and we like to go out and party and dining. Everything is very

:09:23. > :09:27.expensive in Mumbai. I know a lot of families, I have seen many fathers,

:09:28. > :09:32.they don't help out supreme as soon as you have a child, they say take a

:09:33. > :09:36.break for a couple of years and let the child grow up a bit and when

:09:37. > :09:45.that child grows up, they say have another child. Women are expected to

:09:46. > :09:52.sort of look after children and the house and keep everything in order.

:09:53. > :10:00.I love my job. But I used to hate it a lot. It used to take me about two

:10:01. > :10:06.hours every day to get there, it was of changing buses and trains. We

:10:07. > :10:10.have to make sure that the females who are planning to quit, or who

:10:11. > :10:25.actually quit after having a baby, come back to work. And before we go,

:10:26. > :10:29.we will take a quick look at the markets. A lacklustre start for the

:10:30. > :10:34.regional stocks despite US equities finishing higher for a fifth

:10:35. > :10:40.consecutive session. Thank you so much for investing your time with

:10:41. > :10:48.us. I am Rico Hizon. Coming up next on the BBC is Sport Today. Let us

:10:49. > :10:49.bring you date with the current stories this
