0:00:00 > 0:00:00And the top story here in the UK:

0:00:00 > 0:00:03The government says there have been no reports of serious disruption

0:00:03 > 0:00:05to public services, following the collapse of the huge

0:00:05 > 0:00:07construction firm Carillion, which has gone into liquidation.

0:00:07 > 0:00:12Now on BBC News all the latest business news live from Singapore.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22America's auto giant showing a technology driven future at the

0:00:22 > 0:00:27opening of the Detroit auto show. And Israel's Prime Minister visits

0:00:27 > 0:00:35India, could this be a new era of co-operation?

0:00:39 > 0:00:46Good morning Asia. Hello world. It is Tuesday. Glad you could join us.

0:00:46 > 0:00:52We started the programme with the treat auto show and big trucks and

0:00:52 > 0:00:57smart cars are set to dominate this annual North American International

0:00:57 > 0:01:05auto show. America's three auto makers have enjoyed three show years

0:01:05 > 0:01:10of strong sales, but they are also in a race to stay ahead of foreign

0:01:10 > 0:01:13competition, at least when it comes to building high-tech autonomous

0:01:13 > 0:01:21vehicles. All the stories from Detroit. This is a self driving

0:01:21 > 0:01:26vehicle, tested by Ford to deliver pieces. It looks pretty much like a

0:01:26 > 0:01:31normal car but those spinning things on the top are sensors and I got to

0:01:31 > 0:01:35take you round the car to show you what it is seeing. Look at this

0:01:35 > 0:01:43here. That little red dot is me, that is what the car is seeing so it

0:01:43 > 0:01:46can make decisions on where to turn, where it stopped or accelerate. Ford

0:01:46 > 0:01:52is not the only car maker that is talking about these, pretty much all

0:01:52 > 0:01:56of them is and they are investing money into research and development.

0:01:56 > 0:02:00How will the government regulate it? We also have a transport secretary

0:02:00 > 0:02:05of the US government here yesterday saying they don't want to have a

0:02:05 > 0:02:08command and control approach. Saying they don't want to interfere with

0:02:08 > 0:02:14innovation, but of course safety is a big concern for them. Also very

0:02:14 > 0:02:19much saying that the onus is on Thai companies to make people feel

0:02:19 > 0:02:24confident about vehicles like these. It is incumbent upon these

0:02:24 > 0:02:29manufacturers and high-tech companies to share their enthusiasm

0:02:29 > 0:02:34and their competence in this new technology. Because unless they do

0:02:34 > 0:02:38so, the consumers will not accept it and this would not be a success.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41General Motors has already made a request to the US government to

0:02:41 > 0:02:46allow them to put this vehicle on the roads as early as next year. No

0:02:46 > 0:02:51steering wheel or paddles. Many other carmakers think the world is

0:02:51 > 0:02:57not ready for it just yet.It will take years before we see full

0:02:57 > 0:03:01autonomous drive, lot of things need to our legal environment and we

0:03:01 > 0:03:06believe that many customers are not ready for cars without steering

0:03:06 > 0:03:12wheels.But that future for cars with no passenger controls could be

0:03:12 > 0:03:16a reality pretty soon. Look at this vehicle, there is a screen in front

0:03:16 > 0:03:20of me, no steering wheel, no paddles beneath my feet. These shuttle buses

0:03:20 > 0:03:24are already being used on the streets of Detroit on fixed roads

0:03:24 > 0:03:32and will soon be used on others as well. The advances are coming at us

0:03:32 > 0:03:36faster than we had imagined and the question facing government and all

0:03:36 > 0:03:43of us, are we ready to concede control to machines and software?

0:03:43 > 0:03:48Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is on a six-day India to,

0:03:48 > 0:03:54aimed at deepening trade and defence ties between the two countries. He's

0:03:54 > 0:04:00been a company by the largest business litigation that has

0:04:00 > 0:04:07accompanied an Israeli PM on a tour. Joining us is this our reporter in

0:04:07 > 0:04:16Mumbai, how important is this trip? Very significant because he is

0:04:16 > 0:04:30coming to India just after eight months after the Prime Minister

0:04:30 > 0:04:36visited. They are keen to increase ties between the countries. He has

0:04:36 > 0:04:43the biggest delegation, 130 entrepreneurs have come with him and

0:04:43 > 0:04:46a lot of start-ups and some important ministers and officials

0:04:46 > 0:04:50from the government. It is a six day to us, not just restricted to the

0:04:50 > 0:04:58capital, they will be visiting the hometown of the Prime Minister, he

0:04:58 > 0:05:01will also be coming to Mumbai after that where he will be rubbing

0:05:01 > 0:05:09shoulders with some celebrities from Bollywood. It is a very long tour,

0:05:09 > 0:05:14the idea is to send a signal that Israel are keen to deepen ties on an

0:05:14 > 0:05:17economic and culture will front. This is being billed by both leaders

0:05:17 > 0:05:23as a new error of co-operation, what are some of the significant

0:05:23 > 0:05:30agreements that have been signed by the two countries?Last evening, on

0:05:30 > 0:05:41Monday evening, Mr Modhi and Benjamin Netanyahu announced an

0:05:41 > 0:05:47agreement on cyber security. No big deal is. We were expecting to hear

0:05:47 > 0:05:51something on defence because that is at the heart of this partnership.

0:05:51 > 0:05:59Israel is a big defence equipment maker but we haven't heard anything

0:05:59 > 0:06:05on that stop it an Israeli company had recently a few months ago struck

0:06:05 > 0:06:10a deal where it was going to send antitank missiles here for $500

0:06:10 > 0:06:14million, that got cancelled and we expected to hear something on it but

0:06:14 > 0:06:18it didn't happen. Overall, it is a trip where both of the leaders want

0:06:18 > 0:06:22to send out a message where in the long-term India and Israel will be

0:06:22 > 0:06:28strong economic partners. The start of bigger things to come. Thank you

0:06:28 > 0:06:37for that update. Let's take a look at the markets and a global stock

0:06:37 > 0:06:41bull run shows no sign of abating, despite Wall Street being on

0:06:41 > 0:06:44holiday, US markets are expected to restart trade later today at record

0:06:44 > 0:06:52highs. Here in Asia, stocks have had a strong start to the year but all

0:06:52 > 0:07:00of this euphoria, one regulator is one of market risks. Saying that a

0:07:00 > 0:07:04global economy is in a Goldilocks narrative and they need to watch out

0:07:04 > 0:07:11for the three beers, -- three heirs. I spoke to an investment strategist

0:07:11 > 0:07:15at LGT bank and I asked about him about the red flags and had.I think

0:07:15 > 0:07:20it is correct we are in a Goldilocks scenario, above trend GDP growth and

0:07:20 > 0:07:24below trend inflation. A very healthy and supportive backdrop for

0:07:24 > 0:07:30risky assets. What about the three Bears, are we already in the midst

0:07:30 > 0:07:34of it? Are people turning a blind eye to protectionism, to inflation

0:07:34 > 0:07:41and financial instability? In terms of inflation, what is remarkable is

0:07:41 > 0:07:44how unemployment has come down across the world and we can see the

0:07:44 > 0:07:47United States we have full employment but wage pressures have

0:07:47 > 0:07:52been very muted. It is during select pockets, Germany, where unemployment

0:07:52 > 0:07:57is very low, we are seeing wage inflation but it is a broad based in

0:07:57 > 0:08:05Manon. It doesn't put centre-backs -- central banks under pressure to

0:08:05 > 0:08:09inflate interest rates. In terms of protectionism, we will have Nafta

0:08:09 > 0:08:15rear dressed in Montreal later this month 's. If it were to be cancelled

0:08:15 > 0:08:18and the United States was to unilaterally pull out, that would be

0:08:18 > 0:08:24a shock to markets because that is not being priced in the.Despite the

0:08:24 > 0:08:30collapse of a floor at the Jakarta stock exchange on Monday, stock

0:08:30 > 0:08:33trading continued throughout the day. It was a shocking incident in

0:08:33 > 0:08:36which 70 people were injured. Rebecca Heng Chee has more from

0:08:36 > 0:08:45Jakarta.

0:08:45 > 0:08:50CCTV captures the moment a group of students on a study tour falls to

0:08:50 > 0:08:54the floor below as a walkway suddenly gives way. Outside, chaotic

0:08:54 > 0:09:01scenes of the injured captured on a mobile phone. This man works on the

0:09:01 > 0:09:0716th floor of the building, its bill felt the impact. Before lunchtime, I

0:09:07 > 0:09:19hear some voice and the building shakes and the staff panicked. This

0:09:19 > 0:09:23done at the building is also home to the World Bank and other key foreign

0:09:23 > 0:09:28businesses. Everybody was evacuated. Jakarta's. Changed is at the centre

0:09:28 > 0:09:34of Jakarta's central business district, a prestigious and wealthy

0:09:34 > 0:09:37area. Questions are now being asked how something like this could happen

0:09:37 > 0:09:42here. Later, officers will some workers that it is safe to come back

0:09:42 > 0:09:49inside one of the towers. But some are reluctant to do so.No, it is

0:09:49 > 0:09:56not advised from my colleagues and office management, don't invite me

0:09:56 > 0:10:01to go back into the building.-- advised. Police quickly ruled out

0:10:01 > 0:10:05terrorism as the cause of the collapse and are still investigating

0:10:05 > 0:10:09what went wrong. Indonesia is still actively trying to bring in more

0:10:09 > 0:10:13foreign investment. Things like this in the heart of its business

0:10:13 > 0:10:20district are not the image they want to portray.

0:10:20 > 0:10:24Thanks for watching Asia Business Report. Don't forget to follow us on
