0:00:00 > 0:00:02Prime Minister, saying it would safeguard jobs and living

0:00:02 > 0:00:07Now on BBC News, all the latest business news live from Singapore.

0:00:15 > 0:00:21Day two of the world mobile Congress in Barcelona. We find out what they

0:00:21 > 0:00:26have to say about the US ban on its product. New Zealand public finance

0:00:26 > 0:00:30minister tells us what the GBP would mean for the best TPB would mean for

0:00:30 > 0:00:40the country's economy. Good morning, Asia, and hello world. Clad you

0:00:40 > 0:00:43could join us for this edition of Asia business report. It is Tuesday,

0:00:43 > 0:00:49and I am Rico he's on. We start off with the world mobile Congress in

0:00:49 > 0:00:54Barcelona today, and American politicians have been accused of

0:00:54 > 0:00:58barring the company from the US market for commercial reasons.

0:00:58 > 0:01:05Operators have been warned from stalking him, mobile phones over

0:01:05 > 0:01:08concerns that the company is too close to the Chinese government. The

0:01:08 > 0:01:12firm insists it's independent that it's mobile boss told Rory Katlyn

0:01:12 > 0:01:20Jones that they have big ambitions, whatever happens in America.Every

0:01:20 > 0:01:25year, we have strong growth, every year. We have a chance to be number

0:01:25 > 0:01:31one, not far away. You think you can be number 11 date with global

0:01:31 > 0:01:35smartphones?For sure. We have a chance.What are the problems with

0:01:35 > 0:01:40you achieving that, trying to get into the United States market. You

0:01:40 > 0:01:43are nowhere in the Dutch in the united states market because

0:01:43 > 0:01:46American politicians do not trust you. Why do you think that is?

0:01:46 > 0:01:53Because some guy, some political things are trying to keep us out

0:01:53 > 0:01:59because we are too competitive. We have leading technology, so they

0:01:59 > 0:02:03worry about that, we are too strong. Is that why American politicians

0:02:03 > 0:02:07want to keep you out, because you are too competitive, or they worry

0:02:07 > 0:02:10that you are too close to the Chinese government? They are trying

0:02:10 > 0:02:18to say that, but we are actually independent of the company, so those

0:02:18 > 0:02:23political things, to keep us out... You are one of the leading Chinese

0:02:23 > 0:02:26companies in advancing artificial intelligence. Is China going to be a

0:02:26 > 0:02:37superpower in AI? One of the things you are showing off this week is a

0:02:37 > 0:02:42car with a phone in it, which is basically making the autonomous car

0:02:42 > 0:02:47work. What are you trying to demonstrate there? We are

0:02:47 > 0:02:51demonstrating AI capability on a smartphone, how AI on a smartphone

0:02:51 > 0:02:59is really amazing. It is not smart enough, the smartphone, and we hope

0:02:59 > 0:03:02that in the future, and AIA smartphone to be an intelligent

0:03:02 > 0:03:07phone.What is your prediction in five years from now, will you

0:03:07 > 0:03:11dominate the mobile phone industry, and will it be in an American market

0:03:11 > 0:03:23in a significant way?I think both. We can be number one globally.He

0:03:23 > 0:03:28was speaking to Rick Allen Jones. A recent government report says New

0:03:28 > 0:03:33Zealand could see $4 billion added to the economy with a revised

0:03:33 > 0:03:37transpacific partnership kicks in later this year. Let us -- that is

0:03:37 > 0:03:39welcome news for the New Zealand economy, where growth is inspected

0:03:39 > 0:03:44to slow out -- slow donated this year. Earlier I spoke to the country

0:03:44 > 0:03:48-- company's new finance minister, I asked him if the TPB would make a

0:03:48 > 0:03:52difference to the country's bottom line.I think the countries that

0:03:52 > 0:03:56have stayed the course with New Zealand, Canada, Chile, countries

0:03:56 > 0:04:00like that, Singapore, they know that there are good benefits for them in

0:04:00 > 0:04:04this agreement. An actual effect for some countries, the US withdrawal

0:04:04 > 0:04:10means is area is easier to sign up other areas. Buffer New Zealand, we

0:04:10 > 0:04:12are a small country, a trading nation, and we need agreements like

0:04:12 > 0:04:17this to grow our prosperity. But if the United States was of the TPP,

0:04:17 > 0:04:24this should be adding a lot more cash into the coffers. Do you think

0:04:24 > 0:04:28President Trump will ever change his mind and rejoin TPP?That is very

0:04:28 > 0:04:32difficult to know the answer, but what we are pleased about is a good

0:04:32 > 0:04:36quality agreement has been signed by 11 countries. If the US wants to

0:04:36 > 0:04:39come back and to the agreement at some point in the future, that

0:04:39 > 0:04:43remains possible, but we have an agreement that will open up access

0:04:43 > 0:04:47to markets for our exporters and service providers, as it will for

0:04:47 > 0:04:50other countries. It is a high quality agreement now, and New

0:04:50 > 0:04:54Zealand is proud to be a part of the. There is lots of talk will be

0:04:54 > 0:05:00-- that the UK will be interested in joining the revised TPP after

0:05:00 > 0:05:04Brexit, are they welcomed? All countries who want to be part of the

0:05:04 > 0:05:08agreement are welcome to be there. We have to get it signed obviously

0:05:08 > 0:05:12and ratified first, but New Zealand is looking forward to discussing

0:05:12 > 0:05:17with the UK a possible trade agreement. It is important for New

0:05:17 > 0:05:23Zealand to develop agreements with the EU following Brexit, both are

0:05:23 > 0:05:26important markets for our exporters. Let's look at the New Zealand

0:05:26 > 0:05:31economy, the new government is taking a tough stance towards

0:05:31 > 0:05:35immigration and property purchases by foreigners. Would this second --

0:05:35 > 0:05:39impact economic growth? But we have had for the last nine years is a

0:05:39 > 0:05:43major housing crisis. New Zealand has had high homeownership rates in

0:05:43 > 0:05:49the past, we are many tens of thousands of houses were of all we

0:05:49 > 0:05:53need. So part of what we have done is put in some new rules and

0:05:53 > 0:05:58criteria around existing residential housing, similar to the rules in

0:05:58 > 0:06:00Australia, and we are putting them in place now to ensure that New

0:06:00 > 0:06:05Zealanders can buy their own homes. What we still want our people coming

0:06:05 > 0:06:10from countries around the world to invest in building new housing and

0:06:10 > 0:06:12supporting us to build our infrastructure. We very much need

0:06:12 > 0:06:18that kind of investment.It was New Zealand's finance Minister Greg

0:06:18 > 0:06:22Roberson. China's top economic adviser of drives into the USA today

0:06:22 > 0:06:28to try to smooth tensions between the two countries over trade.

0:06:28 > 0:06:32Discussions between the White House will take place as President Trump

0:06:32 > 0:06:39continues this considers new tariffs on Chinese steel imports. So what

0:06:39 > 0:06:45kind of reception can he expect? Is likely to be quite frosty because we

0:06:45 > 0:06:51have seen increasingly tough talk on both sides. Not just that, on the US

0:06:51 > 0:06:56side of talks, we have Robert light, who is known to be a China hawk,

0:06:56 > 0:07:01meaning he is very aggressive in the stance towards China, and trying to

0:07:01 > 0:07:04address trade imbalances. The US side, the trust and believes there

0:07:04 > 0:07:07has been more talk about reform and not enough action to the dish to

0:07:07 > 0:07:11address the fact that China has a huge trade surplus with America, and

0:07:11 > 0:07:16they want to narrow that. Now the man traveling is hopefully the right

0:07:16 > 0:07:19person to smooth over -- over these tensions, because he is very senior.

0:07:19 > 0:07:23He is a trained at Harvard economist, he is also a very trusted

0:07:23 > 0:07:30confidant of President seizing ping, and China's annual meeting, he is

0:07:30 > 0:07:36inspected to be promoted to vice Senior Premier. According to

0:07:36 > 0:07:40Reuters, he is also the front runner to be the next governor of China's

0:07:40 > 0:07:43Central Bank after the current governor -- Governor retires. There

0:07:43 > 0:07:48is a lot more for him destined to discuss, including the possibility

0:07:48 > 0:07:53of the US putting new tariffs on Chinese steel, as well as this fight

0:07:53 > 0:07:56over intellectual property practices in China. So lots for them to talk

0:07:56 > 0:08:01about.China and the US are always at loggerheads in many ways --

0:08:01 > 0:08:07issues. They you for the update. A few years ago, it was revealed that

0:08:07 > 0:08:12North Korea had just a handful of websites, and minimal

0:08:12 > 0:08:16infrastructure. A new report from cyber security firm fire eyes

0:08:16 > 0:08:19suggests that has not stopped the country from making trouble.

0:08:19 > 0:08:23Business reporter Monica Miller spoke to Bryce Bolton, the firm's

0:08:23 > 0:08:29Asia-Pacific -- chief officer, who told her the hackers from the hermit

0:08:29 > 0:08:33state are becoming more sophisticated. You do not need to

0:08:33 > 0:08:36have a massive investment in informational warfare to be very

0:08:36 > 0:08:41effective. In North Korea, to recognize that a decade ago, and

0:08:41 > 0:08:45started investigate that investing in their cyber warfare. What we're

0:08:45 > 0:08:49seeing today is the fruits of their investment. Are there third parties

0:08:49 > 0:08:53involved? Are the North Koreans working with another country or

0:08:53 > 0:08:56individuals or corporations to make this all happened? It is clear that

0:08:56 > 0:09:02they are able to learn from what other countries have been doing, and

0:09:02 > 0:09:05they have had relationships in the past with China and Russia, and they

0:09:05 > 0:09:12may well be also using relationships with ironic, also an emerging cyber

0:09:12 > 0:09:16power over the last few years. You are describing something that flies

0:09:16 > 0:09:21under the radar, it if it is tough to detect, what are signs that your

0:09:21 > 0:09:29computer has been impacted.Today, you have two modes of operation for

0:09:29 > 0:09:31attackers, a targeted attack going under the radar to steal information

0:09:31 > 0:09:35that could be used for your advantage in informational warfare,

0:09:35 > 0:09:41but we also now have crypto currencies, creating a massive

0:09:41 > 0:09:45opportunity for countries like North Korea to extract value from

0:09:45 > 0:09:50computers anywhere in the world, they can turn this computers into

0:09:50 > 0:09:55crypto currency minors, and use those to extract money from the

0:09:55 > 0:09:59compute power that they have co-opted. There is a term for this

0:09:59 > 0:10:04called crypto jacking, and it is becoming a new nuisance for

0:10:04 > 0:10:07organizations, and what you are seeing with crypto jacking is your

0:10:07 > 0:10:12CPU system will... That is relatively easy to find and easy to

0:10:12 > 0:10:26stop.Let's look at the Asian stock markets, currently all headed north.

0:10:26 > 0:10:29After major gains on Wall Street overnight. Thank you so much for

0:10:29 > 0:10:33investing your time with us, I am Rico Hizon, sport today is
