:00:14. > :00:15.Welcome to Washington, where Donald John Trump is soon

:00:16. > :00:20.to be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States.

:00:21. > :00:23.Hello, I'm Katty Kay - with you on BBC News

:00:24. > :00:27.for this momentous day of ceremony and celebration.

:00:28. > :00:30.The crowds are gathering and we are now little more

:00:31. > :00:33.than an hour away from the formal ceremony.

:00:34. > :00:35.Donald Trump will take the presidential oath just before

:00:36. > :00:37.noon, Washington time - before delivering his

:00:38. > :00:46.That will signal the end of President Obama's term of office -

:00:47. > :00:55.the two men are now holding a final meeting ahead of the ceremony.

:00:56. > :01:01.The inaugural platform is ready and waiting for Donald Trump to utter

:01:02. > :01:07.the 35 words written by America's founding Fathers, the Oath of Office

:01:08. > :01:10.which will make him the 45th president of the United States.

:01:11. > :01:17.Here on the National Mall, excitement is mounting.

:01:18. > :01:20.Hundreds of thousands from across the United States gather here on the

:01:21. > :01:23.National Mall to witness history. Dignatories, senate leaders,

:01:24. > :01:24.military leaders are already taking their seats on the platform -

:01:25. > :01:27.ahead of the ceremony - In less than two hours,

:01:28. > :01:36.Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 45th President

:01:37. > :01:40.of the United States. The property tycoon won

:01:41. > :01:42.an unexpected victory in November's election

:01:43. > :01:45.after a controversial campaign. Hundreds of thousands

:01:46. > :01:49.of supporters - and protesters - are in Washington DC for the event -

:01:50. > :01:53.an event that will also be The ceremony is being attended

:01:54. > :01:59.by former presidents and first ladies, including Bill Clinton

:02:00. > :02:02.and his wife Hillary, Mr Trump's In keeping with the new style

:02:03. > :02:08.of politics in the Trump era, he posted a message on Twitter

:02:09. > :02:10.earlier today - saying "the movement continues -

:02:11. > :02:22.the work begins!" Let's go over to Capitol Hill and my

:02:23. > :02:25.colleague Nick Bryant who is where the president will be taking his

:02:26. > :02:32.oath of office. What is the scene at the moment? It was very wet until

:02:33. > :02:35.recently, the weather forecasters have proved themselves to be more

:02:36. > :02:38.accurate than the political forecasters who did not expect

:02:39. > :02:42.Donald Trump to be taking the oath of office today, they thought it

:02:43. > :02:45.would be Hillary Clinton but the weather forecasters have predicted

:02:46. > :02:50.rain and it has been raining. People have been coming in their ponchos

:02:51. > :02:58.and in the scarlet red Make America Great Again hats which were a

:02:59. > :03:03.feature of Donald Trump's campaign. There is the beta of the military

:03:04. > :03:08.band behind me, it is an extravaganza here as they go through

:03:09. > :03:12.the repertoire that is familiar on these national pageants. They have

:03:13. > :03:19.taken off the cellophane which was covering the inaugural lectin from

:03:20. > :03:22.which Donald Trump will deliver his long-awaited speech, it is said that

:03:23. > :03:27.he has written his speech himself. -- inaugural

:03:28. > :03:34.lectin. They are sat in the White House as part of the tradition, they

:03:35. > :03:37.have had their church service, it is the last time that Michelle and

:03:38. > :03:42.Barack Obama will be in their home of the last eight years before

:03:43. > :03:47.accompanying Donald Trump to the Battle, where you are now, for the

:03:48. > :03:52.services. -- to the Capitol building. What do you think Barack

:03:53. > :03:59.Obama is passing on to his successor now? Wouldn't you love to know! ?

:04:00. > :04:03.Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall in that conversation... Never

:04:04. > :04:08.before has an incoming president had such a different personality and

:04:09. > :04:12.political agenda than an outgoing president. You will remember Barack

:04:13. > :04:17.Obama thrust himself into the midst of this campaign, so too did

:04:18. > :04:18.Michelle Obama in an emotionally powerful way. Both said that Donald

:04:19. > :04:31.Trump was tempering -- temperamentally. This is not how

:04:32. > :04:37.Barack Obama wanted to end his presidency, handed over to somebody

:04:38. > :04:41.who has vowed to dismantle and demolish his signature achievements,

:04:42. > :04:44.like health care. But it has been a peaceful transition, Americans pride

:04:45. > :04:50.themselves on this and one suspects it will be a civil conversation as

:04:51. > :04:54.they have a chat and a coffee at the White House. It was a nice moment

:04:55. > :04:59.when Melania Trump arrived at the White House, and the couples were

:05:00. > :05:03.met. We can bring in these pictures from moments ago, of Melania Trump

:05:04. > :05:06.and Donald Trump meeting Barack Obama and Michelle Obama on the

:05:07. > :05:14.steps of the White House, and Melania Trump offering Michelle

:05:15. > :05:19.Obama a nicely wrapped gift, it looked suspiciously like Tiffany box

:05:20. > :05:24.to me! A nice gesture, the crowds are gathering and there were tears

:05:25. > :05:28.of invitation to inauguration cheap seats and the less cheap seats!

:05:29. > :05:32.These are people who have come from all over the country, who have long

:05:33. > :05:37.been supporters of Donald Trump, handing him victory and who believed

:05:38. > :05:42.in him early on. They are here in Washington, DC, and are here ready

:05:43. > :05:45.for the inauguration services. I am joined here up on the podium on our

:05:46. > :05:51.perch over Capitol Hill... Carlos Watson is

:05:52. > :05:53.Founder of OZY Media. former speech writer

:05:54. > :06:02.for President George W Bush. Carlos Cuellar you predicted that

:06:03. > :06:03.Donald Trump would become the President of the United States. You

:06:04. > :06:16.can see him now on Inauguration Day, is he now

:06:17. > :06:18.President Trump? We have been surprised by President-elect Trump

:06:19. > :06:22.and President Trump regularly but in the transition of the last 60 days,

:06:23. > :06:26.the candidate you saw for the last 15 months is

:06:27. > :06:33.likely to be the president you will get. Some of these early fights,

:06:34. > :06:38.most significantly a supreme court battle, and fights over immigration,

:06:39. > :06:41.in some way, will that temper his approach? I doubt it but we will

:06:42. > :06:49.see. And you are a former speech writer, he will be on the podium,

:06:50. > :06:52.George W Bush, his father is in hospital sick with pneumonia, but

:06:53. > :06:56.George W Bush will be there. How much pressure is there on the

:06:57. > :07:00.President-elect, on this day, to say the right thing to the American

:07:01. > :07:05.people? This is the most pressure that he has faced to date in his

:07:06. > :07:07.speech, for the longest time he was not taken seriously and I think that

:07:08. > :07:12.the pressure was not as high profile but now the eyes of the world and

:07:13. > :07:16.the nation are on him. This is his first address to a country, half of

:07:17. > :07:18.whom did not support him and he has to explain to them why he is

:07:19. > :07:24.everybody's president and how he will work to make America a nation

:07:25. > :07:28.everyone is proud of. We know that the country is divided, a recent

:07:29. > :07:31.poll showed that more than 80% of Americans think that the country is

:07:32. > :07:34.more divided than it used to be and they do not feel very optimistic

:07:35. > :07:38.that it will get less divided over the next four years. This is

:07:39. > :07:43.something that George W Bush thought about in his presidency, and he did

:07:44. > :07:46.reach out after a very contentious election in 2000, when he gave his

:07:47. > :07:54.inaugural address to those people who have lost the election campaign.

:07:55. > :07:57.Do you think that it matters to Donald Trump, to be seen as a

:07:58. > :07:59.president who tries to unite the country, or not the ticket Lily?

:08:00. > :08:04.Absolutely, in many of his speeches he spoke about it being a divided

:08:05. > :08:07.nation, this is something that has been on his mind and he will be

:08:08. > :08:14.looking to draw on the common themes of what makes Americans a common

:08:15. > :08:18.people, what resonates with them, and how they can appreciate

:08:19. > :08:24.unifying, even around something as amazing as a peaceful transition of

:08:25. > :08:29.power. The average American, myself included, you feel overwhelmed by

:08:30. > :08:32.the patriotism from these traditions that we observe today, regardless of

:08:33. > :08:37.who was sworn into office, that remains true, and he will draw on

:08:38. > :08:41.that. He will have, Carlos Watson, behind his sales, if you like, the

:08:42. > :08:45.wind of the whole Republican party. He has the Senate and the House of

:08:46. > :08:48.Representatives, and the Supreme Court, and of course he has the

:08:49. > :08:53.White House. It gives Donald Trump an awful lot of power? It does, and

:08:54. > :08:57.the power is strengthened further by the fact that many of them did not

:08:58. > :09:01.support him. You will remember the House Speaker, Paul Ryan, famously

:09:02. > :09:04.said would one month to go committee all but walked away from the Dem

:09:05. > :09:13.candidate Donald Trump. -- he all but walked away. In states like

:09:14. > :09:21.Wisconsin and Ohio, where they were not supporting him, it will give him

:09:22. > :09:25.a lot of sway and a bit of power. Reince Priebus, the former National

:09:26. > :09:30.committee chair, coming in as chief of staff, will be very valuable. And

:09:31. > :09:35.Kellyanne Conway has distinguished herself as a thoughtful counsellor,

:09:36. > :09:40.and a spin master for him. Let's pause and we will talk about what we

:09:41. > :09:44.are seeing in these pictures from Capitol Hill. There is the former

:09:45. > :09:50.Republican Speaker of the house John Baena. What is happening on Capitol

:09:51. > :09:54.Hill, the members of Congress, Donald Trump supporters, former

:09:55. > :09:57.presidents, Republicans and Democrats, are making their way to

:09:58. > :10:04.the platform on the west side, just behind where we are seated, of

:10:05. > :10:09.Capitol Hill itself. They are making their way down and awaiting the

:10:10. > :10:16.arrival of President-elect Trump and President Obama, John Baena on his

:10:17. > :10:17.way out. The top dignitaries, you President-elect, Vice

:10:18. > :10:23.President-elect, President Obama, Michelle Obama, they will all be

:10:24. > :10:27.announced by a Herald who will call them individually onto the platform.

:10:28. > :10:35.At the moment, the seats are filling up with the political and military

:10:36. > :10:40.dignitary, Newt Gingrich and his wife, a long-time supporter of

:10:41. > :10:48.Donald Trump, part of the campaign as well, making their way to the

:10:49. > :10:52.podium. It's not a very cold day, I have covered much colder in

:10:53. > :10:56.operations for right have won what I would have wanted goalie skiing

:10:57. > :11:02.holiday! This is damp but not that cold? -- I would have worn on a

:11:03. > :11:11.skiing holiday! It was frightful the last time! The campaign chairman for

:11:12. > :11:18.Donald Trump, will be a special adviser. It is fair to say, Anita

:11:19. > :11:23.Green, one of the more controversial figures entering the White House? He

:11:24. > :11:31.was the CEO of Breitbart News, who has published very far right things.

:11:32. > :11:34.It was the third shift in the campaign that Rob had undergone, and

:11:35. > :11:41.he had been doing poorly at that point. -- Donald Trump. He and

:11:42. > :11:43.Kellyanne Conway were seen as resurrecting a campaign that was

:11:44. > :11:51.flagging and ultimately went on to victory. Newt Gingrich and his wife,

:11:52. > :11:54.making their way through the Capitol Building, you go through on the red

:11:55. > :12:01.carpets, and get onto the viewing platform. And Steve Bannon, he has

:12:02. > :12:04.been a strong supporter of nationalist movements in Europe,

:12:05. > :12:09.this is an interesting moment in history that we are at, not just

:12:10. > :12:13.here in the USA, but we've seen this populist wave, which you could argue

:12:14. > :12:17.started with the Brexit movement in the UK and came to the election with

:12:18. > :12:22.Donald Trump, and people watching other countries in Europe now to see

:12:23. > :12:27.if they will be the next dominoes to fall in the populist wave, or if you

:12:28. > :12:30.are a supporter of populism, the rising movement, which Steve Bannon

:12:31. > :12:35.has specifically said that he hoped it would be? As you know, in May,

:12:36. > :12:39.the French will vote, and that could be quite a significant... Steve

:12:40. > :12:43.Bannon has reached out to Marine Le Pen, they have been in contact with

:12:44. > :12:49.one another? And Nigel Farage has been over, I saw him in DC not long

:12:50. > :12:53.ago, no doubt about it, much like we saw in some ways with the Tony Blair

:12:54. > :12:58.and Bill Clinton movement, the third wave movement some 20 years ago,

:12:59. > :13:01.there is clearly a uniting across the Atlantic among various European

:13:02. > :13:07.efforts and various US efforts as well. He will need to get off to a

:13:08. > :13:11.good start that is credible enough, others will follow and mimic him,

:13:12. > :13:17.and his candidates and in his policy, that is not clear, but Steve

:13:18. > :13:24.Bannon, it is incredible. Katty comes you been here long enough to

:13:25. > :13:28.show that -- to know that he covered the things that Breitbart News did,

:13:29. > :13:42.and consistently, we clean it up and call it the alt-right, it is a

:13:43. > :13:49.factual viewing of it, the fact that that person is literally just down

:13:50. > :13:52.the hall is typical, the other thing that Steve Bannon symbolises is a

:13:53. > :13:57.return of Goldman Sachs to power. There was a time when Goldman Sachs

:13:58. > :14:02.could not participate in senior levels of government, along with

:14:03. > :14:08.Gary Cullen and several others, they are now back. You've worked with

:14:09. > :14:11.President George W Bush's White House committee came in on an ethos

:14:12. > :14:18.of compassionate conservatism. He had high ratings with Hispanic

:14:19. > :14:22.groups can he did well in the 2004 election with Hispanic groups, how

:14:23. > :14:27.different is the philosophy and tone and political style of the Trump

:14:28. > :14:32.administration, compared to the Bush administration? It's been very

:14:33. > :14:37.direct, in ways that the Bush administration did not embrace.

:14:38. > :14:41.There was that emphasis, like you said, on compassionate conservatism,

:14:42. > :14:44.they had to figure out a way forward, we all did, with the

:14:45. > :14:50.attacks of 9/11, President Bush came in with a domestic agenda and then

:14:51. > :14:55.became a wartime president, he was not looking for that. It was

:14:56. > :14:59.different, President Trump, in one hour, will be President Trump, not

:15:00. > :15:02.President-elect Trump, he has been himself, he shoots from the hip, you

:15:03. > :15:06.can see that from his Twitter feed and his own advisers don't know at

:15:07. > :15:10.times what he will say which is very different from the Bush

:15:11. > :15:15.administration. What about what Carlos was touching on? Some of the

:15:16. > :15:18.things that Donald Trump said about women and allegations about

:15:19. > :15:22.Breitbart News gritter muck that it was anti-Semitic and wrote

:15:23. > :15:25.anti-Semitic headlines at time? There were accusations of racism

:15:26. > :15:29.about Breitbart News as well? What would George Bush have made about

:15:30. > :15:34.that if it was in his White House? When he sits there in one hour's

:15:35. > :15:37.time and watches Donald Trump become president, as a former speech writer

:15:38. > :15:42.to his, what will be going through his mind? He is there to support the

:15:43. > :15:46.next president and the process, he was very supportive of Barack Obama

:15:47. > :15:50.and President Obama has mentioned it several times, how he appreciated

:15:51. > :15:55.it. I know that one of President Bush's worst moments in his

:15:56. > :16:02.presidency was when can you West says George Bush hates black people,

:16:03. > :16:05.which could not be further from the truth -- Kanye West. He took it

:16:06. > :16:09.seriously, and Donald Trump, if that kind of charge was levelled at him,

:16:10. > :16:12.he would have thought that it was the media being hyper partisan and

:16:13. > :16:17.would not have taken it to heart in the same way... Let's run through

:16:18. > :16:21.what we will see... There are the members... You are looking at the

:16:22. > :16:26.platform filling up where Donald Trump will give

:16:27. > :16:33.his inaugural address. That is the young lady who will sing the

:16:34. > :16:37.national anthem, it looks like? We will see her, she was the winner of

:16:38. > :16:45.America's Got Talent, and she will sing the national anthem.

:16:46. > :16:48.President-elect Trump and Barack Obama are in the White House having

:16:49. > :16:53.a cup of coffee and a final meeting between the two of them. They will

:16:54. > :16:58.make their way in a brand-new version of the Beast, the

:16:59. > :17:01.presidential limousine, which has been refitted for Donald Trump. The

:17:02. > :17:10.President-elect and the president will drive together to Capitol Hill,

:17:11. > :17:13.in the Beast, and they will make their way onto the podium,

:17:14. > :17:18.President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect pence, President

:17:19. > :17:25.Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, they will come into the Capitol

:17:26. > :17:29.complex, taking their seats, and the official services will begin at

:17:30. > :17:39.midday local time, that's 5pm London time. President Trump will become

:17:40. > :17:41.President Trump when he takes the oath of office, and will give his in

:17:42. > :17:52.your -- give his inaugural address, we do

:17:53. > :17:57.not know how long it will be, some presidents before have given very

:17:58. > :18:05.short addresses previously, having given that, the Vice

:18:06. > :18:10.President-elect, Vice President, president and President Obama will

:18:11. > :18:16.depart, the Obama family will head to Andrews Air Force Base, where he

:18:17. > :18:20.will depart the scene, he will then be ex-president, and President Trump

:18:21. > :18:30.will go back to Capitol Hill for lunch with supporters. We will look

:18:31. > :18:35.out for that in the next couple of hours in Washington as the services

:18:36. > :18:41.begin. We are currently waiting for President Trump and President-elect

:18:42. > :18:54.Trump to leave the White House and head down towards the Capitol. It's

:18:55. > :18:58.a very formulaic day? Yes, Ronald Reagan encountered bad weather in

:18:59. > :19:02.1981 which calls for a variation in plans, and other kinds of things

:19:03. > :19:08.have happened in the past. Other than that, it's largely formulaic.

:19:09. > :19:12.At one point, we expected that... Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton are

:19:13. > :19:16.going in to the Capitol Building, the building where she used to work

:19:17. > :19:24.as a senator for the New York State. This is an extraordinary moment,

:19:25. > :19:28.seeing Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton, when George Bush took over,

:19:29. > :19:32.it's not unusual for your rifle to be sitting there, Al Gore would have

:19:33. > :19:40.been sitting on that platform as Bill Clinton's vice president as

:19:41. > :19:46.well? -- it is not unusual for your rival. I'm sure that John McCain

:19:47. > :19:54.will be there, it is unusual, historically speaking, to have so

:19:55. > :19:58.many political rival pull for power,. What will it be like for

:19:59. > :19:59.Henry Clinton sitting and watching Donald Trump take the oath of office

:20:00. > :20:10.gritter muck it will -- what will it be like for Hillary

:20:11. > :20:15.Clinton sitting and watching Donald Trump take the oath of office? No

:20:16. > :20:19.matter what, when you are on the losing side, it cannot feel good...

:20:20. > :20:23.But they had to be there, Bill Clinton is a former president, he

:20:24. > :20:28.has two B there and there will be some tight handholding between the

:20:29. > :20:34.two of them? It sends a terrible message, if she was not to be there,

:20:35. > :20:39.her whole question was, will you do the presidential dignified thing,

:20:40. > :20:44.when you lose, and attend my inauguration? One thing that you can

:20:45. > :20:48.say is that she is incredibly disciplined? She is, she's been seen

:20:49. > :20:59.around town in New York recently, any kind of loss, whether you are Al

:21:00. > :21:03.Gore, or Hillary Clinton, it hurts, but people saw her in bakeries and

:21:04. > :21:17.in restaurants around New York. She has got a lot of love, and that

:21:18. > :21:23.discipline is taking place. President Obama has tweeted, from

:21:24. > :21:27.his Twitter account @POTUS, I do not know how long he will have that

:21:28. > :21:32.for... "It has been the honour of my life to serve you, you have made me

:21:33. > :21:37.a better leader and a better man". We should spend a moment talking

:21:38. > :21:43.about President Obama, he is president for another hour and 40

:21:44. > :21:46.minutes? Incredible in so many ways, it's an unusual time in American

:21:47. > :21:50.history, when you think about the people elected to the highest office

:21:51. > :21:56.in the last few years, you've had Bill Clinton, the son of a single

:21:57. > :22:08.mother, who grew up in working-class Arkansas, not immediately the kind

:22:09. > :22:14.of guy like his predecessor, there was controversy with the Supreme

:22:15. > :22:20.Court, you get the first African-American elected, and very

:22:21. > :22:27.few people expected a 70-year-old reality star... He will be the

:22:28. > :22:32.oldest president to take office? Yes, Barack Obama goes out on a wave

:22:33. > :22:36.of enthusiasm, with very high approval ratings, as does the first

:22:37. > :22:40.Lady. When you think back on his record, even if you disagree with

:22:41. > :22:45.him, a lot got done. If you think about what happened with health care

:22:46. > :22:49.and immigration, and the movement between the two wars... Thing about

:22:50. > :22:54.the economy? Former Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, and

:22:55. > :22:59.Kellyanne Conway, campaign manager, wearing a very patriotic coat, she

:23:00. > :23:06.will be senior adviser to President Bush, she is the first woman to have

:23:07. > :23:09.run a presidential election campaign and the first woman to have led a

:23:10. > :23:13.winning presidential election campaign.

:23:14. > :23:19.A very important figure in this transition process. Kellyanne, she

:23:20. > :23:22.told me on election morning very confidently that Donald Trump at

:23:23. > :23:27.seven different parts to the White House. Few people believed her on

:23:28. > :23:30.that election morning. And the poll suggested that this would be a

:23:31. > :23:34.victory for Hillary Clinton but, I have to say, that morning Kellyanne

:23:35. > :23:38.Conway sounded confident and she was absolutely right? She certainly will

:23:39. > :23:43.be remembered as one of the most valuable players, as you pointed out

:23:44. > :23:49.earlier, she was part of the third set of changes which is unusual in a

:23:50. > :23:52.general election... It was quite a choppy campaign? Yes, and yet again

:23:53. > :23:58.someone who started something called The Apprentice, and was regularly

:23:59. > :24:03.firing people, it's not that surprising... But Kellyanne Conway

:24:04. > :24:06.is clearly an important person internally and externally. It's not

:24:07. > :24:10.unprecedented to change your campaign manager. Hillary Clinton

:24:11. > :24:15.didn't, I wonder she regrets that, given the strategy that was pursued

:24:16. > :24:18.to neglect entire states at times, like Wisconsin? Whenever someone

:24:19. > :24:23.loses, you hear the recriminations and now you are hearing them about

:24:24. > :24:27.the campaign manager, and incredibly young campaign manager in his early

:24:28. > :24:32.30s, and former President Bill Clinton who argues he repeatedly

:24:33. > :24:43.went to the campaign manager and encourage them to go after the

:24:44. > :24:52.states that he used to call "But -- Bubbas". That looks like

:24:53. > :25:01.the Beast. We did not see pictures of President Obama and

:25:02. > :25:04.President-elect Trump leaving the White House but this cavalcade looks

:25:05. > :25:07.very presidential... They may well be on their way to the White

:25:08. > :25:12.House... A little earlier than we may have thought. I'm not going to

:25:13. > :25:15.swear by that! I have not seen evidence with my own eyes, what do

:25:16. > :25:22.you think? I'm trying to figure out... No, I understand that they

:25:23. > :25:26.have not left the White House yet, they were random pictures, maybe

:25:27. > :25:32.that was the Beast going to pick them up? It could be President

:25:33. > :25:36.George W Bush? It could be. Let's go down to the national more now, where

:25:37. > :25:42.of course the supporters are already beginning to gather. Mike colleague

:25:43. > :25:46.Rajini Vaidyanathan is down there. -- my colleague. When I saw you

:25:47. > :25:53.there earlier, it was not looking very packed. It is a wet day but

:25:54. > :25:56.what is it like there now? I am in the middle of the national more

:25:57. > :26:01.because we are near the broadcast position. But, much further down it

:26:02. > :26:08.is filling up -- National Mall. From the Capitol onwards, I do not know

:26:09. > :26:13.if you can see that, but it is filling up. Even in the area that we

:26:14. > :26:18.are, their people streaming past in greater numbers, they are estimating

:26:19. > :26:27.some 900,000 people will be on the National Mall for the inauguration

:26:28. > :26:32.of Donald Trump. I'm joined by two Trump supporters who have come here.

:26:33. > :26:36.I'm joined by John and Charles. Let's start with you, John. You are

:26:37. > :26:42.a trump supporter from the liberal state of Massachusetts? Yes. How

:26:43. > :26:46.does it feel to be here today? You supported Donald Trump from the

:26:47. > :26:51.start? Yes, I supported him from the start, and I decided two days ago to

:26:52. > :26:57.fly here, and I feel ecstatic that he has been sworn in as the

:26:58. > :26:59.president. And I'm quite excited. Massachusetts went for Hillary

:27:00. > :27:03.Clinton, do you think that there were more people who actually, even

:27:04. > :27:09.in liberal areas, voted for Donald Trump than people may have expected?

:27:10. > :27:14.Yes, I do. A lot of the people I grow up with voted for him. I quite

:27:15. > :27:17.frankly, despite the polls, thought Massachusetts would have voted a bit

:27:18. > :27:22.more for Donald Trump, they did not. But we did not need their votes

:27:23. > :27:29.anyway! Charles, you are from the state of Maryland? Let's have a look

:27:30. > :27:37.at your heart. You have a badge on it saying" President Trump, get used

:27:38. > :27:43.to it!". How can Donald Trump unite the country for everyone? He has

:27:44. > :27:48.made a good start, he has got... What's his name, Brown and Ray

:27:49. > :27:56.Lewis, to help him out with the inner cities and Ben Carson as his

:27:57. > :28:00.secretary, if the Democrats let him get approved. He has made some good

:28:01. > :28:04.starts. What is the biggest priority that you personally have four

:28:05. > :28:12.President Trump? Was the first thing that you want him to do? I think

:28:13. > :28:17.jobs and tax reform. It would be nice not to face so much taxes, and

:28:18. > :28:20.get some jobs back in the country. There have been jobs coming back,

:28:21. > :28:30.corporations have seen the writing on the wall. We have companies

:28:31. > :28:36.making plans to expand in the US, he is making inroads into the economy.

:28:37. > :28:39.John, what do you think Donald Trump's weaknesses are? What

:28:40. > :28:43.concerns do you have for him, if any? As for concerns, the only

:28:44. > :28:52.concern that I have, I do not know if it is so much his weakness as it

:28:53. > :28:57.is the desire to not work with him from the left, I think that he is

:28:58. > :29:04.willing to work and his biggest weakness, from his opponent side, is

:29:05. > :29:08.that he may need a bit of a filter! Instead of coming out as hard as he

:29:09. > :29:13.is, even though I enjoy it, in order to get it all to work together, I

:29:14. > :29:20.think he needs to filter a bit but he is the king of the deal. I think

:29:21. > :29:24.that he will get it done. Thank you to both of you for joining us and

:29:25. > :29:30.enjoy the inauguration. The point that John made there, I have spoken

:29:31. > :29:34.to several Trump supporters since he won the election, some have concerns

:29:35. > :29:39.about his tweeting and think perhaps that he should bring back on that a

:29:40. > :29:42.bit but certainly, there is definitely a celebration spirit here

:29:43. > :29:46.on the National Mall from the many people who voted for him, people

:29:47. > :29:52.have travelled from across America to make it here today to be part of

:29:53. > :29:55.Donald Trump's inauguration. OK, Rajini Vaidyanathan on the Mall for

:29:56. > :29:59.us, it's always extraordinary how many people come from all over the

:30:00. > :30:04.country, they turn out to vote and months later they get on buses, get

:30:05. > :30:08.into cars, get on planes and trains and come here for this extraordinary

:30:09. > :30:11.day where there is this peaceful transfer of power. It is a

:30:12. > :30:17.fundamental tenant of American democracy. Something Americans are

:30:18. > :30:23.incredibly proud of, especially when they watch other countries around

:30:24. > :30:26.the world. We can see it happening in the Gambia today, that transition

:30:27. > :30:30.of power is not happening peacefully. Whether it is a change

:30:31. > :30:36.of administration or the successful second term of an existing

:30:37. > :30:42.president, inauguration sorry big day for celebration. That is the

:30:43. > :30:49.White House where Donald Trump, Michelle Obama, Barack Obama and

:30:50. > :30:54.Melania Trump will be wrapping up their coffee morning and getting

:30:55. > :31:00.into their cars to come to Capitol Hill -- inauguration day. You cannot

:31:01. > :31:04.have an inauguration ceremony without a fairly strict schedule!

:31:05. > :31:10.People do not show up late to these events, Donald Trump will be heading

:31:11. > :31:14.down to the Capitol very shortly... In the Beast, which has been read

:31:15. > :31:19.version for his successor, that will be the last time the Obamas, I do

:31:20. > :31:23.not know if they will take a moment before stepping out, saying goodbye

:31:24. > :31:27.to the home of the last eight years, it is where they have raised their

:31:28. > :31:31.two daughters here in Washington. It has been a family home and Michelle

:31:32. > :31:36.Obama's mother has lived with them as well. They had to say goodbye to

:31:37. > :31:38.their family home, moving a couple of miles down the road to a rented

:31:39. > :31:50.house here in Washington, DC. Anna Kerr, tell us about the White

:31:51. > :31:56.House and what it will be like for the Obama is to be leaving it as

:31:57. > :32:02.George Bush did in 2009 himself? It is a bitter ex-variants, to be

:32:03. > :32:08.short. I didn't live there but I worked there. I slept on the couch

:32:09. > :32:16.in the West Wing, that happened! It is incredible to be there. You slept

:32:17. > :32:24.on the house ash on the couch in the West Wing, let's pause for a moment!

:32:25. > :32:29.We are expecting the president and the president elect. They dry

:32:30. > :32:35.together in the Beast and the First Lady will dry separately and the

:32:36. > :32:38.vice president and the vice president elect. That is not

:32:39. > :32:43.Michelle Obama, that is somebody coming out to check everything is

:32:44. > :32:48.ready. This is a day that has two work very well. Anna Carr, you were

:32:49. > :33:00.telling us about sleeping in the White House. -- Anneke. When I left

:33:01. > :33:10.the White House, I took a pic of everything. George Bush's little dog

:33:11. > :33:16.was a Scottie dog. I walked around, Leo -- realising I was leaving, and

:33:17. > :33:24.you cannot just walk back in again. The Obama daughters, a significant

:33:25. > :33:30.portion of their lives was spent growing up there. A playground that

:33:31. > :33:38.was donated to them, they have given that away to an organisation. Each

:33:39. > :33:42.first family makes it their own and the staff that go in there with them

:33:43. > :33:49.really see themselves as a part of it. Talk to us about what happens to

:33:50. > :33:54.the staff? They hand in their passes and that is it? There are a few

:33:55. > :33:58.people who stay through to the very end and the chief of staff is one of

:33:59. > :34:03.them. Many have already left, they have packed up their offices. I

:34:04. > :34:08.would be surprised if anyone was still there, saving file, or

:34:09. > :34:11.printing documents. Everyone has patched their things and are just

:34:12. > :34:20.waiting. When the Obama is leave, they will film that. There will be

:34:21. > :34:25.staff there, in the corner, crying, and watching that happened, and

:34:26. > :34:32.saying thank you. That is true, regardless of what your politics

:34:33. > :34:38.are. A friend from Barack Obama's Chicago days we could picture of

:34:39. > :34:42.herself taking a final walk the White House grounds with a it'll

:34:43. > :34:47.message saying, after tomorrow, I will be a citizen and watching from

:34:48. > :34:54.the outside in. You literally lose your privileges. You cannot go back

:34:55. > :34:58.in. As Anneke said before, so many have people have given so much. They

:34:59. > :35:03.are looking forward to it all down time and for the most part, that is

:35:04. > :35:08.the feeling. We have had in recent years a few presidents in

:35:09. > :35:12.particular... We have pictures of what seemed to be President Obama in

:35:13. > :35:16.the Oval Office, wow, leaving. Perhaps there is a custom, the

:35:17. > :35:25.president leaves a note for his successor. George W Bush and Bob

:35:26. > :35:30.Barack Obama and Barack Obama is doing it. Mr Obama, leaving the Oval

:35:31. > :35:37.Office. His time as a resident almost at an end. He leaves that

:35:38. > :35:43.node in the draw of the desk that was made from the timber of the ship

:35:44. > :35:53.that was donated by the British. Not when we but it down. No! This is a

:35:54. > :35:59.remarkable moment. This is the transfer of power. President Obama

:36:00. > :36:06.in the Oval Office. Walking out of the Oval Office. He has been

:36:07. > :36:09.resolutely... You have to wonder what he and his wife are going

:36:10. > :36:13.through in these final moments. There has rarely been a transition

:36:14. > :36:18.web people with such different worldviews and a lot of it between

:36:19. > :36:22.these two men, during the course of the last two years. But he has

:36:23. > :36:27.during the last few weeks been resolutely positive and up beat

:36:28. > :36:33.about his time and the state of America. Indeed. And for several

:36:34. > :36:38.each reasons. One is the reference for office love of democracy. I

:36:39. > :36:42.remember his campaign manager telling me that the loss that the

:36:43. > :36:46.Obama campaign had in 2008 in New Hampshire was critical because from

:36:47. > :36:50.that point forward, he never had to remind his team again not to take

:36:51. > :36:56.anything for granted. I am sure part of what President Obama is saying to

:36:57. > :37:00.lots of young people and particularly young progressive women

:37:01. > :37:06.is that after this campaign, you will never listen to polls and you

:37:07. > :37:11.will never listen -- take things for granted again. The end of the world

:37:12. > :37:20.only happens when it is the end of the world and everything so

:37:21. > :37:28.something you learn and grow from. He has spent a lot of time on the

:37:29. > :37:31.phone with president-elect Trump. They have worked closely with

:37:32. > :37:40.Kellyanne Conway. She has said that a number of times. All of that

:37:41. > :37:47.point. Carlos Watson and Anneke point. Carlos Watson and Anneke

:37:48. > :37:52.Green, thank you for joining us. That's go to Nick Bryant. You do

:37:53. > :37:54.know a lot about American politics. How does this rank in historic

:37:55. > :38:36.terms? This will be memorable for the

:38:37. > :38:42.surreal nature of it. Nobody really expected this moment to happen. We

:38:43. > :38:44.are seeing gathering behind me senators and congressmen from both

:38:45. > :38:50.parties. On both sides here in Washington, very few people gave him

:38:51. > :38:54.any chance of winning. He set out for the presidency back in June 2015

:38:55. > :38:57.and even on the morning of the election itself, some people, senior

:38:58. > :39:00.Republicans saying, it would take a miracle for him to winds but he has

:39:01. > :39:07.John just that. And what seemed to be the physically impossible is

:39:08. > :39:10.about to come true. I'm going to interrupt you. We can see pictures

:39:11. > :39:15.of the protesters. We have been speaking a lot... They seem to have

:39:16. > :39:20.frozen. We are getting rather grainy pictures of protests in the city. We

:39:21. > :39:24.have been talking a lot about the supporters. There are hundreds of

:39:25. > :39:28.thousands of Trump supporters in the city as well. Let's not forget that

:39:29. > :39:32.this is a very divided country. Donald Trump has the lowest approval

:39:33. > :39:37.rating is on record of any president-elect. A lot of people in

:39:38. > :39:39.the country are very angry at the moment, who do not feel that Donald

:39:40. > :39:45.Trump represents American values and who are fearful about what the Trump

:39:46. > :39:49.presidency will mean for this country. There are people who feel

:39:50. > :39:52.that he ran a very divisive and negative campaign, minorities who

:39:53. > :39:59.say they feel threatened by the this Administration's tone, and Muslim

:40:00. > :40:04.Americans who feel they are in some jeopardy, of course, now what we are

:40:05. > :40:08.seeing is that some of these protesters, it is hard to know

:40:09. > :40:12.exactly how many there are, I can hear them from where I am, some of

:40:13. > :40:18.these protesters. Apparently, we are hearing that shop windows have been

:40:19. > :40:23.smashed. This seems to be a fairly violent protest that has taken

:40:24. > :40:27.place, which is unusual on inauguration day. I have not seen

:40:28. > :40:33.violent protests take place on inauguration day since I have been

:40:34. > :40:58.reporting. People in balaclavas. They are running away, perhaps, from

:40:59. > :41:01.the police. This is a couple of blocks from where I am, so very

:41:02. > :41:03.close to the parade route and capital help stop it looks like

:41:04. > :41:05.there are several dozen protesters there are several dozen protesters

:41:06. > :41:08.running away from the scene. It looks like people have come prepared

:41:09. > :41:09.looks like an organised and looks like an organised and

:41:10. > :41:10.potentially violent protest. We are potentially violent protest. We are

:41:11. > :41:12.getting reports of shop windows getting reports of shop windows

:41:13. > :41:14.being looted. OK, let's bring in Ron Christie, a Republican strategist

:41:15. > :41:19.who is here with me, up on our perch above the parade route. We spent

:41:20. > :41:27.election night together. It was a long night. And an unexpected

:41:28. > :41:30.result. And we made it through. I think it is an amazing day for

:41:31. > :41:35.America. Whether you support or oppose Donald Trump, one of the

:41:36. > :41:40.things that makes us a hallmark is our beacon of democracy. I'm going

:41:41. > :41:44.to get you to talk about these pictures. This is fairly dramatic.

:41:45. > :41:52.It looks organised and liberty violent. Looks like they know what

:41:53. > :41:57.they are doing. Look at that, people smashing windows of a McDonald's

:41:58. > :42:06.downtown. This is very unusual. We can hear this from where we are. We

:42:07. > :42:13.can hear the yelling going on. This is unprecedented. None of us

:42:14. > :42:18.expected this today. There is a lot of security in town. We have been

:42:19. > :42:26.hearing. It looks like the police are responding as well. Using water

:42:27. > :42:29.to try and disperse the protest is, getting them out of the area. I

:42:30. > :42:32.think this is very close to where we are sitting at the moment. I know

:42:33. > :42:36.that Macdonald is very well. It is a couple of blocks away from here.

:42:37. > :42:39.During the day, if there wasn't an inauguration going on, there would

:42:40. > :42:49.be a lot of people there. Wow. Look at that picture. Carlos. As you have

:42:50. > :42:53.said, your people have -- fewer people have turned up in support of

:42:54. > :43:01.this resident. We may see as many of the couple of hundred hours and

:43:02. > :43:08.protesters. There was a sense on the part of the number of the protesters

:43:09. > :43:16.from the access Hollywood remarks to the disagreement with the con family

:43:17. > :43:22.and the arguments in terms of the Muslim registry that Donald Trump

:43:23. > :43:25.talked about, and I think that has caused a greater level of agitation

:43:26. > :43:34.and protest than you might normally have seen in 2000 and one or in

:43:35. > :43:39.2009. We were having a party switch but there is more than a party

:43:40. > :43:41.switch going on here. These are clearly organised protests, they had

:43:42. > :43:46.come prepared with their bases covered, there are all night

:43:47. > :43:51.security measures which is why we are seeing these protesters running

:43:52. > :43:58.away from the scene. We saw some of them smashing shop windows. Also on

:43:59. > :44:03.the streets of Washington, DC today, they will work hard to dispel these

:44:04. > :44:07.protests as quickly as possible. I think you will see a fair number of

:44:08. > :44:12.protests over the next year. We often focus on the first 100 days,

:44:13. > :44:18.in terms of what the president will do but I think one of the hallmarks

:44:19. > :44:23.of this next year, and for some, they will feel it is unfortunate, I

:44:24. > :44:27.think you will see very strong, very frustrated, very angry protests. I

:44:28. > :44:31.don't think they will be small and I don't think they will be limited to

:44:32. > :44:35.Washington DC. The level of frustration, I think, that you see

:44:36. > :44:40.in some of the polling going on, is significant. The last 60 days of

:44:41. > :44:42.transition, it is normally a time when the president-elect bills more

:44:43. > :44:48.support, and unfortunately in the case of resident elect Trump, you

:44:49. > :44:54.see fewer people supporting him so he hasn't gone from 46% to 60%

:44:55. > :45:01.support, is dead he went from 46% of the vote to 40%. I think we are

:45:02. > :45:07.going to see a fair amount of protest. I think it unfortunate. The

:45:08. > :45:11.way we have the electoral college system, it is not the popular vote

:45:12. > :45:19.that winds. You have seen this several times over the last hundred

:45:20. > :45:27.years. We are coming away from the protests now. Jimmy Carter, Alderley

:45:28. > :45:39.and recovering from cancer. That is a beautiful shot of. Chief Justice

:45:40. > :45:43.John Roberts who would live the oath of office and there are the Supreme

:45:44. > :45:48.Court justices following him in. There are only eight of them at the

:45:49. > :45:52.moment since the death of one of them last year. This is a very

:45:53. > :45:57.moment fought President Trump as well because he has the chance to

:45:58. > :46:02.put in place a Supreme Court justice and tilt the Supreme Court in favour

:46:03. > :46:06.of conservatives. He hasn't named who that will be but we expect that

:46:07. > :46:10.to be one of the first things that he does, Ron, in the next couple of

:46:11. > :46:15.weeks. We should point out these are unelected people at, my goodness,

:46:16. > :46:20.are they powerful, in the way they affect American life and possibly

:46:21. > :46:25.one of the most important things out of the selection will be that they

:46:26. > :46:30.will be more conservative for the next generation. And once you are a

:46:31. > :46:35.federal judge, you are appointed for life. It is not a term, you are

:46:36. > :46:39.there for life. There is a lot of speculation that the new president

:46:40. > :46:46.will select someone who is very young, could be on the court for 40

:46:47. > :46:51.years that could have a rheumatic impact on jurisprudence. --

:46:52. > :47:00.dramatic. He could get as many as four. The reality is some -- several

:47:01. > :47:06.of them are elderly and have had public struggles with health issues.

:47:07. > :47:11.We know that in the case of Justice Ginsburg. Some of them are 80 or

:47:12. > :47:17.close to 80 and they will step down. This is something which point out. I

:47:18. > :47:24.think we are going to start getting the pig just when the White House as

:47:25. > :47:30.well. -- the pictures. President Jo Biden's wife has already left. Vice

:47:31. > :47:39.President Jo Biden's wife, they are starting to get ready, all of them,

:47:40. > :47:47.to get -- make their way down. You will hear the helicopters, down

:47:48. > :47:54.Pennsylvania Avenue, you will hear protests from others. A remarkable

:47:55. > :48:00.sight. And the former president Jimmy Carter, the oldest living

:48:01. > :48:07.former president. She flew up yesterday from Atlanta on a

:48:08. > :48:13.commercial ELT airlines. He made a point on his flight of saying hello

:48:14. > :48:20.to every single person on the -- every single person's hand. 40 years

:48:21. > :48:25.ago, he was a surprise winner. Or one term governor from Georgia. And

:48:26. > :48:31.there we have Melania Trump and Michelle Obama leaving the White

:48:32. > :48:36.House. This will be the last time Michelle Obama is in the White House

:48:37. > :48:42.as First Lady. This is an emotional moment for her. This has been her

:48:43. > :48:46.home for eight years. She gets into the car, without a look back she

:48:47. > :48:52.gets into the limousine and she and Melania together will drive down

:48:53. > :48:59.Pennsylvania Avenue. Donald John Trump and Barack Obama, two very

:49:00. > :49:02.different men and two very different agendas, leaving the White House

:49:03. > :49:10.together, as is part of the custom. Here they go. No. Jo Biden and Mike

:49:11. > :49:14.Pence come out first. Full start! The vice president and the vice

:49:15. > :49:20.president elect. Getting into their limousine. Jo Biden, one of the more

:49:21. > :49:27.consequential Bice presidents. A very close duration ship with Barack

:49:28. > :49:30.Obama and he himself thought of running for the presidency and there

:49:31. > :49:40.was a lot of speculation between Democrats. If it had been Mr Biden,

:49:41. > :49:45.would be Mr Biden taking office now? I think he would have. The support

:49:46. > :49:52.he had. He is very popular amongst them American people and sadly with

:49:53. > :49:56.the passing of his son, I think he would have had a groundswell of

:49:57. > :50:02.popular support. It might have been him in the limousine. And what a

:50:03. > :50:07.different moment, what a different day that would have been in American

:50:08. > :50:16.history. An even older president than Donald Trump. And here we go.

:50:17. > :50:22.Donald John Trump and Barack and saying Obama coming out of the White

:50:23. > :50:29.House. That is the last time they will come out. Too sombre looking

:50:30. > :50:35.men. This is an important sombre looking -- sombre day. A moment of

:50:36. > :50:44.advice there, perhaps, from Barack Obama to his successor. And in they

:50:45. > :50:48.get, into the Beast. 90 days ago, very few people thought we would be

:50:49. > :50:56.seeing that scene. You have to wonder what is going on in the mind

:50:57. > :51:06.of those two men. A sense of relief... The expectation is now on

:51:07. > :51:11.him, he is going to be our president and he has to lead us forward. He

:51:12. > :51:15.will spend the next four years at least travelling in this limousine.

:51:16. > :51:20.This is his life now. He is about to become the president with all the

:51:21. > :51:25.trappings of office and all the seriousness of office and as you

:51:26. > :51:31.said earlier, Carlos, he has not necessarily made the progression yet

:51:32. > :51:34.from candidate Trump in his behaviour to President Trumper.

:51:35. > :51:41.Today is the day he has to do that. He becomes the 45th President of the

:51:42. > :51:50.United States. -- President Trumper. -- President

:51:51. > :52:04.Trump. They are leaving the White House. A mile down the road. They

:52:05. > :52:15.head down Pennsylvania Avenue, they come down to, and the honour guard

:52:16. > :52:19.is all out, there are no press to -- no protesters anywhere near this

:52:20. > :52:24.route, they have been moved swiftly along, I don't know whether Donald

:52:25. > :52:30.Trump will be aware that there were violent scuffles on the morning of

:52:31. > :52:35.his inauguration. He is talking firmly to his supporters are the

:52:36. > :52:39.moment. There you can see Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. Of

:52:40. > :52:46.course, all of the former president apart from George HW Bush who is

:52:47. > :52:51.sick in hospital. There is George W Bush and Laura Bush as well. George

:52:52. > :52:58.Bush has made it even though his father and his mother are both in

:52:59. > :53:05.hospital. George H Bush sent a nice note. He said his doctor said if he

:53:06. > :53:12.sat outside, he would be six speed under. His sense of humour still in

:53:13. > :53:19.evidence there! A true gent. And George Bush himself who went through

:53:20. > :53:25.this recess in 2001 after a very contested election. He too lost the

:53:26. > :53:29.popular vote but by much less than Donald Trump has lost the popular

:53:30. > :53:35.vote, and his wife Laura. They have had eight years out of the public

:53:36. > :53:42.eye by and large, and I've actually had a very good relationship with

:53:43. > :53:48.the Obama is. George Bush has had a very good relationship with ill

:53:49. > :53:56.Clinton working on things like Haiti and international aid efforts. I was

:53:57. > :54:01.there on the last day, eight years ago, and when you go through this,

:54:02. > :54:08.it is so emotional from the sense of the president is going through a lot

:54:09. > :54:12.of emotions and he will fly out on a helicopter to Andrews Air Force Base

:54:13. > :54:18.and the staff is there to wish the president well but I have to say, it

:54:19. > :54:21.is a remarkable feeling, Katty, to be there with them when they

:54:22. > :54:33.transition from resident to private citizen. -- President. It will be...

:54:34. > :54:40.Former president Bush Dr sell-off in the sunset, several thousand miles

:54:41. > :54:44.away to Texas but Obama is staying in DC, in part because one daughter

:54:45. > :54:50.is still in school. I wonder whether that will be making the transition

:54:51. > :54:54.easier or more difficult. And that has never happened before. You have

:54:55. > :55:01.never had a former president decamping a couple of drops down the

:55:02. > :55:06.road from the president. This is the cavalcade, it is heading along

:55:07. > :55:11.Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House. At some point, I ink, on

:55:12. > :55:16.their route, they will pass Donald Trump's new hotel, which is also

:55:17. > :55:21.quite a thing, the fact that Donald Trump has this big, swanky hotel,

:55:22. > :55:30.which is a couple of hundred yards from the White House. The new

:55:31. > :55:39.residence for Trump will be in Pennsylvania Avenue. I have a

:55:40. > :55:50.feeling we will see him a little bit there over the next fool years. The

:55:51. > :55:55.helicopters. -- the next four years. Here they are, the cavalcade,

:55:56. > :56:01.carrying the 44th President of the United States and the 45th President

:56:02. > :56:09.of the United States, two very different men, with two very

:56:10. > :56:11.different world views sharing a car together in this important process

:56:12. > :56:18.of the transfer of power here in America. There is a new government

:56:19. > :56:23.on its way, a new way of doing business coming into town, and there

:56:24. > :56:29.you go, the Trump Hotel, they just drove straight past it. Maybe Mr

:56:30. > :56:37.Obama will stay there one day when he is a private citizen. Some of the

:56:38. > :56:42.tape I saw when LBJ was in office and you hear him talking about

:56:43. > :56:46.former come editors and Eisenhower and Truman and you know it is a rare

:56:47. > :56:51.fraternity and you know that President Trumper will be talking to

:56:52. > :57:03.former resident of Obama and seeking advice. They have both said that

:57:04. > :57:06.conversation had been cordial. The Obama team has left stacks of

:57:07. > :57:12.national security documents, who knows whether the Trump team has

:57:13. > :57:18.read them. Everything from North Korea to Iran. To the state of the

:57:19. > :57:25.rest of the world. China, relations with China. Russia, I imagine. And

:57:26. > :57:30.those documents sitting on the desk now are heading on their way. I can

:57:31. > :57:36.look over my shoulder, I can start to see the motorcade. There are the

:57:37. > :57:43.outriders on the motorbikes and police cars. They are all starting

:57:44. > :57:49.to head our way. Coming to Capitol Hill. It is worth pointing out that

:57:50. > :57:57.Donald Trump comes into office in quite a storm of controversy is.

:57:58. > :58:03.This is not a smooth, calm, quiet, necessarily dignified transition.

:58:04. > :58:09.You can lift them from Russia to his taking on civil rights leaders, this

:58:10. > :58:14.is quite... It is a troubled transition, would you say? I big you

:58:15. > :58:21.would. I think you would look at everything that Donald Trump ran on,

:58:22. > :58:24.I think are Kabbalah who is leaving will say is this man going to and do

:58:25. > :58:30.this legacy. Will this man this legacy. Will this man

:58:31. > :58:37.transformed the artist Steve and harm my legacy -- there is

:58:38. > :58:43.investigation of the Russian involvement. It is a relatively

:58:44. > :58:48.small number of people who have been nominated head. More important

:58:49. > :58:54.people have denominated and will move through the process. Not only

:58:55. > :59:01.is there significant dissension and their buck he won't have a full team

:59:02. > :59:05.as soon as he might want it. It will be interesting to see what kind of

:59:06. > :59:09.support he gets from Paul lying and Mitch O'Connell, the two leaders of

:59:10. > :59:19.the House of Representatives. -- Paul Ryan. Will they be supportive

:59:20. > :59:26.as Trump takes on if a cult policies and takes a different approach. One

:59:27. > :59:31.of the things that will be difficult for Donald Trump is what will his

:59:32. > :59:38.relations be with those two leaders, can he govern with them or will they

:59:39. > :59:43.try to support his Administration's plans, along with the Democrats?

:59:44. > :59:47.Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton there, the woman who wanted to be

:59:48. > :59:56.the first female President of the United States. There is the beast.

:59:57. > :59:58.The president and the President elect inside the car, making their

:59:59. > :00:02.weight to the capital.
