:00:23. > :00:28.Good afternoon. Libya's interim Prime Minister,

:00:28. > :00:33.Mahmoud Jibril, says that elections will be meld held in the country in

:00:33. > :00:39.eight months' time. He is facing pressure to explain how Colonel

:00:39. > :00:44.Muammar Gaddafi died. A coroner is expected to carry out a postmortem

:00:44. > :00:49.later today in Misrata, where his body is being held.

:00:49. > :00:55.This reports contains strong images. Libyans, young and old have been

:00:55. > :01:03.queuing up to see what has become of their old leader. Not liing in

:01:03. > :01:07.state, but alongside his son in a cold storage unit unit. For Colonel

:01:07. > :01:11.Muammar Gaddafi there will be no state funeral and few, if any

:01:11. > :01:16.mourners. For the people here, there is no controversy over the

:01:16. > :01:24.way in which he met his end. He has been killing us for eight

:01:24. > :01:30.mons to rule ut us, I mean, he was ruling Libya with steel fists.

:01:30. > :01:38.REPORTER: So he deserved what he got? Yes, of course! He deserved it

:01:38. > :01:42.in my opinion. Yes. We want this to end.

:01:42. > :01:47.Some human rights groups have called for an inquiry in to what

:01:47. > :01:52.looked to many like a killing, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi allegedly

:01:52. > :01:58.shot dead by his captors. Last night in Misrata, a huge party in

:01:58. > :02:04.the city centre, celebrating the demise of the hated tyrant and the

:02:04. > :02:09.prospect of a new Libya. New elections were announced by the

:02:09. > :02:12.interim government. The first elections should take

:02:12. > :02:18.place within a period of eight months maximum.

:02:18. > :02:24.This is a sad, sorry and rather pathetic end to the life of one of

:02:24. > :02:28.the most feared and hated dictators in the Middle East. Colonel Muammar

:02:29. > :02:32.Gaddafi's body, bloodied and bruised, liing in a fridge in

:02:32. > :02:36.Misrata. The Chancellor, George Osborne, has

:02:36. > :02:40.warned that the eurozone debt crisis pose as real danger to

:02:40. > :02:42.Britain's economy. He was speaking as he arrived in Brussels for a

:02:42. > :02:47.meeting with the European finances ministers where they are to discuss

:02:47. > :02:51.a solution to the crisis. Our correspondent is in Brussels,

:02:51. > :02:56.what are they hoping to achieve? They have given themselves five

:02:56. > :02:59.days of what amounts to a crisis meeting. They are trying to come

:02:59. > :03:05.come up with a solution that is workable and credible to the

:03:05. > :03:11.following host of problems. The facts that governments across the

:03:11. > :03:17.continent are mired in debt. The banking system is deep in debt.

:03:17. > :03:20.There are, even in Germany, Spain, Greece, the southern economies are

:03:20. > :03:25.stagnating. They are looking at trying to work

:03:26. > :03:30.out a way of coming up with a big enough bail out fund to manage with

:03:30. > :03:34.the problem of all of this debt. It is now five days rather than the

:03:34. > :03:38.original two days for this summit. I don't think that anybody is

:03:38. > :03:41.expecting come Wednesday, in the final day of the summit, that there

:03:41. > :03:46.will be a total solution to the crisis.

:03:46. > :03:53.George Osborne has said that this has to make were gres, is there is

:03:53. > :03:56.sense it is -- has to make progress, is there a sense it is doing so?

:03:56. > :04:00.saying that it will move to a conclusion. They are dealing with

:04:00. > :04:04.the problem of trying to ensure that the banking sector has the

:04:04. > :04:08.capital inside of it to make sure that the banks do not collapse

:04:08. > :04:12.under the weight of all of the government debt that is around. It

:04:12. > :04:16.looks like they are moving towards a solution of being able to

:04:16. > :04:21.recapitalise the banks in such a way as to save them, but again,

:04:21. > :04:25.there is a lot of becomes-ticking to be done on that. We still don't

:04:25. > :04:30.know if they are making significant progress.

:04:30. > :04:37.An elderly British couple have been killed in flash-floods near the

:04:37. > :04:41.Spanish resort of Benidorm. The pair were swept away from a cafe

:04:41. > :04:50.bar in a street market town called Finestrat.

:04:50. > :04:54.Alex Salmond is expected to tell the SNP's conference meeting in

:04:54. > :05:00.Inverness, that independence will give Scotland the opportunity to

:05:00. > :05:05.flourish as never before. James Cook is there for us. Some

:05:05. > :05:09.people may say that the SNP is hedging its bets here? Alex Salmond

:05:09. > :05:13.will not see it like that he is making a point this afternoon of

:05:13. > :05:20.stressing that he still cease independence as his and his party's

:05:20. > :05:25.primary option. As you say, the quote that we know he is to use is

:05:25. > :05:31."it will see our nation flourish as never before" but he is to talk

:05:31. > :05:38.about the second option, a light or devolution max, what thauld would

:05:38. > :05:44.do is to have powers for tax, tax- raising powers transferred to

:05:44. > :05:47.Edinburgh and to control donk spending, while defence and foreign

:05:47. > :05:52.affairs would remain the reserve of Westminster. Alex Salmond is

:05:53. > :05:57.expected to say that is a legitimate proposal and he women

:05:57. > :06:05.signal his willingness to include that along those lines.

:06:05. > :06:10.How is it likely to go down with the grass roots? They are inclined

:06:10. > :06:15.to trust the man who has delivered them with a stunning victory. They

:06:15. > :06:19.are riding high here. One described what he is doing have having this

:06:19. > :06:23.is an insurance policy. So there is a feeling if they won the second

:06:23. > :06:29.option but did not win full independence in the referendum,

:06:29. > :06:34.that they may get a chance for the push for the final powers to be

:06:34. > :06:38.give no-one the future. This has been said that this is a once in a

:06:38. > :06:45.generation experience for the party, that they must focus on this. This

:06:45. > :06:50.party was formed 1934, the delegates are feeling in fine mood

:06:50. > :06:55.that perhaps their goal of independence is there.

:06:55. > :06:58.There are talks to find the resolution to the anti-capitalist

:06:58. > :07:02.demonstration that has forced St Paul's Cathedral to close for the
