:00:26. > :00:30.Good afternoon. Staff are preparing to deep-clean a

:00:30. > :00:33.neonatal unit in Belfast where throw babies have died from a

:00:33. > :00:36.bacterial infection. Efforts are continuing to identify the source

:00:36. > :00:41.of the pseudomonas outbreak at the Royal Victoria Hospital. A fourth

:00:41. > :00:45.child is being treated for the infection. We have this report.

:00:45. > :00:49.The results of tests carried out on all of the babies in the unit at

:00:49. > :00:55.the time of the outbreak have come back. A further four newborns were

:00:55. > :00:59.found to have been affected by the bug. Two have recovered, one is

:00:59. > :01:03.receiving treatment, but another died of an unrelated cause.

:01:03. > :01:08.Pseudomonas is a bacteria that can be carried on the skin and spread

:01:08. > :01:11.by touch it is most dangerous to those already ill, especially

:01:11. > :01:17.infants and those with lung problems as it causes severe

:01:17. > :01:21.breathing difficulties. The source of the jub is yet to be identified.

:01:21. > :01:26.The hospitals here in this complex in Belfast makes up effectively,

:01:26. > :01:29.the centre of healthcare in Northern Ireland. The Royal Jubilee

:01:29. > :01:32.Maternity Hospital has a strong reputation. Healthcare

:01:32. > :01:37.professionals from outside of the Belfast Trust have expressed

:01:37. > :01:41.confidence that everything that can be done is being done.

:01:41. > :01:45.The, obviously, trying to track the source of the organism. They are

:01:45. > :01:50.doing a deep-clean. They are obviously monitoring all of the

:01:50. > :01:54.babies who could possibly have been infected thoroughly indeed. Clearly

:01:54. > :01:59.one baby is being treated for infection. It is hard to say

:01:59. > :02:04.anything else that they could do. Consultants have not ruled out

:02:04. > :02:09.further testing. Hospitals across the UK are well versed in carrying

:02:09. > :02:12.out deep cleans where bacterial outbreaks occur, a similar protest

:02:12. > :02:17.is under way at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

:02:17. > :02:21.Lawyers for some of the survivors of the Italian cruise liner, the

:02:21. > :02:26.Costa Concordia claim that passengers should be given 100,000

:02:26. > :02:30.each in compensation. This morning a search and rescue team has

:02:30. > :02:34.boarded the ship. At least 11 people are known to have died in

:02:34. > :02:39.the accident, 24 are unaccounted for. Officials say that they will

:02:39. > :02:43.not stop looking until the whole ship has been searched. We are live

:02:43. > :02:49.at the scene now with Luisa Baldini. What is the latest on the search

:02:49. > :02:54.operation? There has been a lot of activity. It started at dawn. We

:02:54. > :03:00.saw scuba divers getting into their wet suits. The first team went to

:03:00. > :03:05.the wreck at David Beckham, the main aim to gain access to the

:03:05. > :03:09.fifth deck on the submerged side of the ship. This do that they carried

:03:09. > :03:14.out explosions to make holes inside of the vessel. It was then up to a

:03:14. > :03:18.separate group of divers to get in and start the search. I asked a

:03:18. > :03:24.colleague of theirs, if up until now on any of the dives they have

:03:24. > :03:27.found an air pocket, but the answer was that there were no air pockets,

:03:27. > :03:32.just water. Have they given an indication as to how long the

:03:32. > :03:35.search operation will continue? There is a news conference being

:03:35. > :03:39.held at the moment. A type of briefing. We are hoping to hear

:03:39. > :03:44.more, but this morning, certainly, the coastguards told me that they

:03:44. > :03:47.will not stop until they are confident that every part of the

:03:47. > :03:51.shy has been everyone ised, but they keep stopping and starting

:03:51. > :03:56.because of fears that the ship is moving, so it is taking a very long

:03:56. > :04:00.time. Until they have completed the search phase, the salvage teams

:04:00. > :04:03.can't start pumping out the 2,000 tonnes of oil. While the oil

:04:03. > :04:09.remains on board, there are concerns for the environment,

:04:09. > :04:15.should there be a leak. To that end, an Italian Naval ship has been

:04:15. > :04:18.deployed here that specialises in oil spills. It is moored close to

:04:18. > :04:22.the wreck of the Costa Concordia. I was taken on board this morning,

:04:22. > :04:25.but the commander said that they are just waiting, they are here as

:04:25. > :04:30.a precaution. Thank you very much.

:04:30. > :04:33.The widow of a British hostage whose body has been handed over to

:04:33. > :04:38.British officials in Baghdad have said that the family can now grieve

:04:38. > :04:42.for him properly. Alan McMenemy was one of four security guards taken

:04:42. > :04:47.hostage along with an IT consultant Iraq in 2007. The bodies of the

:04:47. > :04:51.three other guards were handed over in 2009. The consultants Moore, was

:04:51. > :04:54.later released alive. The Foreign Office says it is

:04:54. > :04:59.helping a woman and her daughter from Birmingham after her husband

:04:59. > :05:03.was shot dead in front of them in Pakistan.

:05:03. > :05:10.The man died after he and his wife were attacked by masked gunmen

:05:10. > :05:14.during a family visit to Rawalpindi earlier in the month.

:05:14. > :05:21.Eye witnesses in Nigeria have told the BBC they have counted more than

:05:21. > :05:25.20 bodies after a series of blasts in the city of Kano.

:05:25. > :05:30.The militant Islamist group, Boko Haram said that it carried out the

:05:30. > :05:35.attack. We have this report from the capital, Abuja.

:05:35. > :05:40.Fires and chaos, the immediate after math of the attacks. This was

:05:40. > :05:46.one of several police stations targeted in Kano. The assault by

:05:46. > :05:48.the armed militants spread panic across this huge northern Nigerian

:05:48. > :05:53.city. The sounds of explosions, four of

:05:53. > :05:59.them before I came out. Then I saw a dead body on my way out. A young

:05:59. > :06:03.man was lying dead. I proceeded for then to the emigration office, that

:06:03. > :06:08.was where the first bomb-blast started in front of the gate.

:06:09. > :06:13.This was perhaps the most brazen attack yet by Boko Haram, an shrath

:06:13. > :06:18.International Cricket Council group that's emerged a -- an Islamist

:06:18. > :06:26.group that has emerged, a group responsible for a wave of attacks

:06:26. > :06:31.across northern Nigeria. On Christmas Day, the Boko Haram

:06:31. > :06:36.group attacked churches, the group, its name means forbidden, warned

:06:36. > :06:40.all Christians to leave the north. The President here has called the

:06:40. > :06:45.crisis worse than a Civil War. Today, the city of Kano is under

:06:45. > :06:51.strict curfew, but the attacks, designed as a show of force, have

:06:51. > :06:55.exposed the limitations of Nigeria's security services.

:06:55. > :07:01.Britain is to give five times more money to help rid the world of

:07:01. > :07:06.neglected tropical diseases it is raising aid from 50 million to
