:00:21. > :00:24.Good evening. Detectives have begun a nationwide hunt for a 47-year-old
:00:24. > :00:26.man in connection with the murder of a vicar in his home in
:00:26. > :00:29.Gloucestershire. Police say Stephen Farrow travels widely across the
:00:29. > :00:32.country using public transport and hitchhiking and is extremely
:00:32. > :00:35.dangerous and should not be approached. The Reverend John
:00:35. > :00:45.Suddards was found stabbed to death at his home in Thornbury on Tuesday,
:00:45. > :00:48.as Tim Reid reports. Thornbury is a village under a cloud, it remains a
:00:48. > :00:52.scene of crime five days after its vicar was brutally murdered. There
:00:52. > :00:57.is a high police presence on the streets. Police have today released
:00:57. > :01:01.an image of a man they seek in connection with the murder, six-
:01:01. > :01:06.foot four-inch Stephen Farrow, he was 47, and known to travel around
:01:06. > :01:12.England hitch-hiking and camping. He is a dangerous man and under no
:01:12. > :01:18.circumstances should he be approached. If sighted, I would ask
:01:18. > :01:22.that you dial 999 immediately. Reverend John Suddards had only
:01:22. > :01:26.moved here last July from Essex where he had been filled by the BBC.
:01:26. > :01:32.His body was discovered at St Mary's Vicarage on Tuesday, he had
:01:32. > :01:38.suffered multiple stab Boyens. A 43 year-old man arrested shortly after
:01:38. > :01:47.has been released on police bail. Tonight, while Thornbury mourns its
:01:47. > :01:50.vicar, every police force is on the lookout for his killer.
:01:50. > :01:55.The Foreign Secretary William Hague has warned that Iran's nuclear
:01:55. > :01:58.ambitions could plunge the Middle East into a new Cold War. In a
:01:58. > :02:01.newspaper interview, Mr Hague said that if Iran built an atomic bomb,
:02:01. > :02:03.it would trigger "the most serious round of nuclear proliferation
:02:03. > :02:06.since nuclear weapons were invented". Here's our World Affairs
:02:06. > :02:10.Correspondent Peter Biles. Iran's nuclear ambitions continue to be a
:02:10. > :02:14.matter of international concern. The West has long suspected Iran
:02:14. > :02:18.wants to develop nuclear weapons. Tehran insists its nuclear
:02:18. > :02:23.programme is purely for generating electricity and says it has a right
:02:23. > :02:26.to press ahead with these plans. William Hague says if Iran does
:02:26. > :02:36.develop a nuclear weapon at this could trigger an arms race in the
:02:36. > :02:46.
:02:46. > :02:50.region. In an interview with the Analysts agree that if Iran got the
:02:50. > :02:54.bomb, then Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Middle East would
:02:54. > :02:58.want to follow suit. Saudi Arabia would look to Pakistan to get its
:02:58. > :03:01.own, Egypt and Turkey would consider their Non-Proliferation
:03:01. > :03:06.policies, although both those countries probably would not obtain
:03:06. > :03:11.a bomb in any short-term. And other countries would look to the outside
:03:11. > :03:15.world for assistance. This week President Ahmadinejad attended an
:03:15. > :03:19.elaborate ceremony to show of new developments in the run's nuclear
:03:19. > :03:24.programme. It said it had used home-made nuclear fuel in a reactor
:03:24. > :03:29.for the first time. The West wants to know if Iran can go further.
:03:29. > :03:37.West should keep its nerve, keep in proper perspective the nature of
:03:37. > :03:42.any threat Iran may pose to other countries, to their in mind this is
:03:42. > :03:47.the time for diplomacy now rather than more high-flown language about
:03:47. > :03:53.military threats. Not for the first time, Iran has just sent a couple
:03:53. > :03:57.of naval ships through the sewers Canal into the Mediterranean. Today,
:03:57. > :04:00.Israel said a nuclear run was the threat to the whole world.
:04:00. > :04:04.Diplomats here at the Foreign Office have had a more complicated
:04:04. > :04:08.a relationship with Iran since the spat last year that led to the
:04:08. > :04:11.closure of the embassies in London and Tehran. But the diplomatic
:04:11. > :04:21.pressure is being maintained through sanctions and in dealing
:04:21. > :04:25.
:04:25. > :04:28.with Iran, all options remain on Syrian forces are reported to have
:04:28. > :04:30.opened fire with live ammunition to break up a protest against
:04:30. > :04:33.President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus. At least four people have
:04:33. > :04:37.been wounded according to witnesses. This unverified footage appears to
:04:37. > :04:44.show the shooting broke out at the funeral of three youths killed in
:04:44. > :04:47.earlier protests against Assad on Friday. In the last hour the
:04:47. > :04:51.funeral service of the signer Whitney Houston has begun at a
:04:51. > :04:53.church in New Jersey. She died a week ago, found unconscious in a
:04:53. > :05:01.hotel room in Beverly Hills. Our Correspondent Laura Trevelyan is
:05:01. > :05:05.outside the church in Newark. is the church where Whitney
:05:05. > :05:08.Houston's journey began. She used to sing here in the gospel choir
:05:08. > :05:14.when she was a child. That has been reflected in the congregation here,
:05:14. > :05:18.her journey from this deprived area of New Jersey all way to recording
:05:18. > :05:24.fame and Hollywood. Stevie Wonder is due to perform during the
:05:24. > :05:30.service and the actor Kevin Costner, who starred with her in a film,
:05:30. > :05:38.will also deliver an address. Let listening to what has been going on.
:05:38. > :05:43.We thank you for gathering here and again, I want to say we love you,
:05:43. > :05:48.Whitney Houston. Thank you. So this is an invitation only funeral, that
:05:48. > :05:52.is how the family wanted it. It is also being screened live on the
:05:52. > :05:57.internet to her millions of fans around the world. But many of her
:05:57. > :06:07.most dedicated fans wanted to be here in person today to witness the
:06:07. > :06:09.
:06:09. > :06:12.scene and reflect on her talent and turbulent life. Many thanks. After
:06:12. > :06:15.nearly 40 years, there are new claims this evening that Lord Lucan
:06:15. > :06:18.fled to Africa to avoid being questioned about the murder of his
:06:18. > :06:21.children's nanny and the attempted murder of his wife. The unsolved
:06:21. > :06:24.mystery of the peer's disappearance is one of the most infamous cases
:06:24. > :06:28.in British criminal history. But now a former employee of one of
:06:28. > :06:33.Lord Lucan's closest friends has shed new light on the case, as
:06:33. > :06:36.Glenn Campbell reports. Lord Lucan vanished on the night of 7th
:06:36. > :06:41.November, 1974 after murdering his children's nanny and attempting to
:06:41. > :06:46.murder his estranged wife at the couple's Belgravia home. His car
:06:46. > :06:51.was found abandoned here in New Haven in Sussex and detectives
:06:51. > :06:55.suspected he may have been smuggled abroad by powerful friends. Today
:06:55. > :07:02.that suspicion has finally been confirmed by a former personal
:07:02. > :07:11.assistant to Lord Lucan's close confidant, John Aspinall.
:07:11. > :07:19.Instructions were to make arrangements for Lord Lucan to see
:07:19. > :07:23.his children and to do that I had to book his two eldest children on
:07:23. > :07:28.flights to Africa. I do not know the exact dates, it was between
:07:28. > :07:31.1979 and 1981. The woman, who has asked not to be identified, said
:07:31. > :07:37.she arranged the flights twice to the children's Fugitive father
:07:37. > :07:42.could see them. As some stage their father would observe them and see
:07:42. > :07:48.them which is what he wanted to do, just see how they were growing up
:07:48. > :07:52.and look at them from a distance. It was quite clear he would not
:07:52. > :07:56.meet them, or speak to them, or make himself known to them because
:07:56. > :08:03.that would make it difficult for them going back to their mother
:08:03. > :08:07.saying I saw Daddy. That was it. The theory Lord Lucan fled to
:08:07. > :08:14.Africa has been confirmed by the detective who led the Lucan inquiry
:08:14. > :08:23.during the 1980s. I made a few inquiries and it was quite of this
:08:23. > :08:27.people were aware he was not dead. The word was he was in Africa.
:08:27. > :08:32.Aspinall never publicly admitted any involvement in Lord Lucan's
:08:32. > :08:35.disappearance. He died in 2000 of cancer. But his former personal
:08:35. > :08:44.assistant say she is now willing to talk to detectives about the role
:08:44. > :08:48.she played in a Lord Lucan's live abroad. And viewers in London and
:08:48. > :08:54.the South East can see more on the Lord Lucan mystery on Inside Out on
