:00:26. > :00:31.Good afternoon. The security forces in Bahrain have

:00:31. > :00:35.moved armoured vehicles on to the streets of the capital. As the

:00:35. > :00:38.political opposition claims that a protester there has been killed in

:00:38. > :00:40.antigovernment demonstrations. Qualifying is taking place for

:00:40. > :00:47.tomorrow's controversial Grand Prix. The race authorities are insisting

:00:47. > :00:52.that the race will go ahead. We have this report from Dan Roan.

:00:52. > :00:55.It is Bahrain's fortress in the desert. This, the ramped up

:00:55. > :00:59.security presence on the road surrounding the island's

:00:59. > :01:05.motorracing circuit this morning. The authorities leaving nothing to

:01:05. > :01:10.chance as Bahrain braced itself for this, the second of three days of

:01:10. > :01:14.rage. The drivers are here to drive. They are focused on the race,

:01:14. > :01:22.leaving those that run the sport to defend the wisdom of rirning here

:01:22. > :01:28.after last year's cancellation. I feel very comfortable having the

:01:28. > :01:35.race in Bahrain after a great Grand Prix we had in China last week.

:01:35. > :01:38.Also before throw weeks ago in Barcelona for the first Grand Prix

:01:38. > :01:43.in Europe. This is not the build up to the

:01:43. > :01:48.race that the organisers wanted. Antigovernment protesters marched

:01:48. > :01:53.along a highway until they were dispersed. Today came the reports

:01:53. > :01:58.that a body of a protester had been found in a village.

:01:58. > :02:02.A man was taken yesterday as he was protesting at 7.00pm. Today the

:02:02. > :02:06.government claims they have found his body. At the same time, the

:02:06. > :02:10.villagers are now surrounded by armoured vehicles. There are more

:02:11. > :02:15.than 100 youths arrested in the past three days, just because the

:02:15. > :02:20.government want it to seem like it is quiet in Bahrain while the

:02:20. > :02:25.Formula One takes place. Later, activists from the Shia

:02:25. > :02:28.majority are expected back on the streets. The divided island Sunni

:02:28. > :02:36.leaders struggle to contain the anger.

:02:36. > :02:41.Bahrain's most prestigious sporting event helps the rulers to pro tray

:02:41. > :02:44.stability to the outside world. They are in no mood for a U-turn.

:02:44. > :02:50.With the Grand Prix fast- approaching, this is a racing

:02:50. > :02:54.weekend like no other. F1 is a sport famous for risk-taking but

:02:55. > :02:58.this could be the biggest gamble it ever takes.

:02:58. > :03:05.The Chancellor, George Osbourne, has been defending his decision to

:03:05. > :03:09.make a further loan of 10 billion to the -- International Monetary

:03:09. > :03:15.Fund. It is used to help economies in

:03:15. > :03:18.trouble, including in the eurozone. Some have criticised his decision.

:03:19. > :03:22.With the world's economic recovery fragile, the finances ministers

:03:22. > :03:26.have been under pressure from the International Monetary Fund to top

:03:26. > :03:29.up the war chest. Britain has contributed already about 30

:03:29. > :03:33.billion, but with fears that more countries may face difficulties,

:03:33. > :03:39.the Chancellor is convinced that loaning an additional 10 billion

:03:39. > :03:44.is in the country's best interest. It is in our interest to have a

:03:44. > :03:48.strong IMF. So Britain is making a loan, a loan that we expect to give

:03:48. > :03:58.back. Anyone WHO has given money to the IMF has gotten it back. It will

:03:58. > :04:01.make it stronger. There is controversy over last

:04:01. > :04:05.month's Budget, Euro-sceptics believe this is good money after

:04:05. > :04:11.bad to prop up a Euro that Britain is not a part of.

:04:11. > :04:15.I think that the decision to give another 10 billion is a bad

:04:15. > :04:20.decision. What has happened to all of the other billions we have

:04:20. > :04:24.given? It has not fixed the problem. Greece has received a bail out, but

:04:24. > :04:29.there are fears that other European nations are heading that way.

:04:29. > :04:34.Critics say that Britain should not give more funds until Europe gets

:04:34. > :04:39.its house in order. The IMF cannot step in and to

:04:39. > :04:43.become the Central Bank of theow area. Ossetias -- George Osbourne

:04:43. > :04:53.was right when he said before that there should be no support for

:04:53. > :04:54.

:04:54. > :05:01.theow until he has seen the colour of their money.

:05:01. > :05:06.Lord Ashley, the Labour peer and disability rights campaign Haas

:05:06. > :05:10.died at the age of 89. He was the first deaf member of Parliament. A

:05:10. > :05:13.passionate advocate for the rights of disabled people.

:05:13. > :05:18.The police in North Yorkshire Police have issued a warning

:05:18. > :05:24.following the death of a teenage girl who died after taking a drug,

:05:24. > :05:29.thought to contain an am feet mean. It is described as a yellowy-white

:05:29. > :05:34.paste, a 21-year-old man is in hospital seriously ill. The police

:05:34. > :05:37.have warned people in the area to avoid taking substances with a

:05:37. > :05:42.similar discription. Military planners have raised

:05:42. > :05:51.concerns that the Government could be planning to order an inferior

:05:51. > :05:55.version of a Royal Navy aircraft. It has been said that there are

:05:55. > :05:59.serious doubts about the capability of the Jump Jet.

:05:59. > :06:05.The last Labour government envisaged that Britain would fly a

:06:05. > :06:10.Jump Jet version of the latest fighter plane of its new aircraft

:06:10. > :06:13.carrier being belt. It would be launched off a ski jump and land

:06:13. > :06:18.vertically on the deck, but this Government reversed that decision

:06:18. > :06:22.and said it wanted to buy the carrier variant being tested. David

:06:22. > :06:24.Cameron argued that this version was the better plane because it had

:06:24. > :06:29.a longer range and could carry more weapons.

:06:29. > :06:34.But the cost of fitting catapults on a ship to launch the longer

:06:34. > :06:37.range plane has spiraled. In an effort to save money in the short-

:06:37. > :06:43.term, the Government is expected to announce another jufplt turn and

:06:43. > :06:46.confirm it will go back to buying the Jump Jet version instead, but a

:06:46. > :06:51.classified MoD document, seen by the Daily Telegraph is to raise

:06:51. > :06:57.concerns over the expected reversal. It notes that overall, the carrier

:06:57. > :07:02.version of the plane is more capable than the Jump Jet version.
