:00:29. > :00:32.Good evening. Police in the US state of Colorado have managed to

:00:32. > :00:37.disable some of the booby-trapped devices inside the home of the

:00:37. > :00:45.gunman who shot 12 people dead and injured dozens more at a cinema.

:00:45. > :00:49.Other explosive and chemical devices inside James Holmes's

:00:49. > :00:53.department -- apartment remain and may need controlled explosions.

:00:53. > :00:56.We have seen some pretty tense scenes with the police and

:00:56. > :01:01.authorities having to deal with the immediate threat of a possible

:01:01. > :01:06.explosion at the apartment of a man being blamed for the killings at a

:01:06. > :01:10.cinema on Friday night. It was here at his apartment that police say

:01:10. > :01:14.James Holmes planned the attack on the cinema. But it is rigged to

:01:14. > :01:17.blow up. Booby-trapped with explosives and fuel. Surrounding

:01:17. > :01:22.buildings have been evacuated as the authorities move very slowly

:01:22. > :01:26.and carefully. The operation has now switched to trying to get as

:01:26. > :01:30.much evidence from his flat as possible without setting off the

:01:30. > :01:35.booby-trap. Police have told us that at the moment the bomb-

:01:35. > :01:42.disposal robot is inside the apartment trying to establish the

:01:42. > :01:44.best way to do that. We have been successful in defeating the first

:01:44. > :01:50.threat, that require and the first incendiary device. The cinema where

:01:50. > :01:54.the attack happened in the early hours of Friday morning is still

:01:54. > :01:58.sealed off by police. People have been traumatised here by the extent

:01:58. > :02:02.and brutality of the killing. Hundreds of bullets were fired into

:02:02. > :02:07.the crowds of people trapped in the building. Doctors are still trying

:02:07. > :02:10.to save the lives of some of the most badly injured. We still have

:02:10. > :02:16.seven patients in the hospital. We have three patients on the regular

:02:16. > :02:20.floor, the trauma floor. We have four in the intensive care unit. Of

:02:20. > :02:25.those four in the ICU, two remain in a critical condition but they

:02:25. > :02:30.are stable. Jessica was one of those killed. A sports writer who

:02:30. > :02:34.recently escaped a shooting in Canada. Matt McQuillan died as he

:02:34. > :02:40.tried to shield his girlfriend from the hail of bullets inside the

:02:40. > :02:45.cinema. She was shot in the leg. And Michaela was also killed, 23

:02:45. > :02:48.year-old who had gone to the Batman premiere with a group of friends.

:02:48. > :02:52.Questions are again being asked about the gun control laws. Police

:02:53. > :02:57.say that James Holmes bought an assault rifle, shot gun and two

:02:57. > :03:01.pistols legally in the weeks before the attack. I immediately

:03:01. > :03:08.recognised him when I saw his picture. The first words out of my

:03:08. > :03:11.mouth work, oh my God, he looks very familiar. The focus now is on

:03:11. > :03:15.clearing the Department of explosives, making the area safe

:03:15. > :03:21.and continuing the investigation into what led this lone gunman on

:03:21. > :03:24.into a killing spree. The police expect to carry out some

:03:24. > :03:29.form of controlled explosion in the apartment in the next few hours.

:03:29. > :03:33.Thank you. Dairy farmers say they will

:03:33. > :03:39.continue to protest outside milk processing plants unless their

:03:39. > :03:42.demands for fat milk prices are met. Demonstrations were held in

:03:42. > :03:46.Worcestershire and Derbyshire. The farmers will meet ministers on

:03:46. > :03:51.Monday and say that cuts in the price they receive will force

:03:51. > :03:54.hundreds out of business. James is one of the farmers involved in the

:03:54. > :04:00.protests. His family has been in the industry in Somerset for three

:04:00. > :04:06.generations. He has young children to provide for telling his milk at

:04:06. > :04:12.a shop loss, with some producers expecting more cuts next month. --

:04:12. > :04:16.selling his milk. To produce milk at 5p per litre below the cost of

:04:16. > :04:19.production is just not going to happen. The focus has been on keep

:04:19. > :04:24.milk processors. They have to cut what they pay because of the

:04:24. > :04:27.falling market value of cream. Supermarkets buy their milk through

:04:27. > :04:32.the big dairies and some of paying farmers extra to make up for

:04:32. > :04:36.falling prices. Morrisons, targeted by protesters in Cardiff today, has

:04:36. > :04:40.announced it is raising that premium to six pence per litre.

:04:40. > :04:43.have done the right thing today to take farmers through a difficult

:04:43. > :04:48.period with bad weather and low market prices. That situation might

:04:48. > :04:52.change but we will review it in October. This move by Morrisons

:04:52. > :04:55.follows a similar decision by the Co-operative yesterday and other

:04:55. > :05:00.supermarket chains have long-term agreements in place to make sure

:05:00. > :05:03.farmers get at least what it costs them to produce the milk. The

:05:03. > :05:08.farmers have been protesting for the last two nights and say they

:05:08. > :05:11.need sustainable prices to survive. Ministers are to meet supermarkets,

:05:11. > :05:15.processors and producers on Monday to meet a voluntary code of

:05:15. > :05:19.practice on pricing to end the dispute.

:05:19. > :05:26.There has been more fierce fighting in the Syrian capital Damascus

:05:26. > :05:30.between Government troops and rebel forces. Clashes have also spread to

:05:30. > :05:35.Syria's second city Aleppo. Until now it had remained under

:05:35. > :05:37.Government control. The Muslim Brotherhood says that the state's

:05:37. > :05:40.authority is collapsing in many areas.

:05:40. > :05:44.Bradley Wiggins stands on the brink of becoming the first British

:05:44. > :05:49.cyclist to win the Tour de France after storming to victory in the

:05:49. > :05:53.race's penultimate stage today. He will confirm his place in history

:05:53. > :05:57.tomorrow on the Champs Elysees in Paris. From Chartres in northern

:05:57. > :06:01.France, Tim Franks reports. The ancient town of Chartres provided

:06:01. > :06:05.brand new territory, at least for British sports fans. What lies

:06:05. > :06:12.before them, Britain's first triumph in the Tour de France, now

:06:12. > :06:16.in the hands, or legs, of Bradley Wiggins. And today, after 2000

:06:16. > :06:19.miles of hard racing, the penultimate stage of the tour was

:06:20. > :06:26.about playing to his greatest strength. A simple race against the

:06:26. > :06:30.clock. This has been uncharted territory for British fans in

:06:30. > :06:35.another sense. The prospect of a victory that can be savoured

:06:35. > :06:39.without first having to bite your fingers to the bone. Bradley

:06:39. > :06:45.Wiggins and his team have not just exhibited class. They have shown an

:06:45. > :06:48.iron grip. He has obviously got his body in shape for it and he

:06:48. > :06:53.delivered it sooner than lots of people probably imagined he would.

:06:54. > :06:58.It is great. I would rather have a French guy win but that is not

:06:59. > :07:03.going to happen this year. It is OK. Amazing. I think one of the most

:07:03. > :07:07.credible achievements ever, frankly. Bradley Wiggins did not have to

:07:07. > :07:11.extend his lead today, but he did, whizzing through the French

:07:11. > :07:16.countryside at 30 mph. His back so straight you could have balanced

:07:16. > :07:21.claret on it. He posted the fastest time of the day and cemented a

:07:21. > :07:27.victory claimed by his peers as the best British sporting achievement

:07:27. > :07:33.ever. Head blows you away a bit. You never imagine it will be you

:07:33. > :07:37.from when you are wicked. It is brilliant. Tomorrow, the cyclist's

:07:37. > :07:41.80 mile route into central Paris will be a victory procession for

:07:41. > :07:47.Bradley Wiggins but the celebrations for a moment of

:07:47. > :07:50.unprecedented British success can begin today.

:07:51. > :07:54.Large crowds have turned out in London on the opening day of the

:07:54. > :07:57.Olympic torch relay in the city. The Olympic Flame will tour every

:07:58. > :08:01.borough in London before the start of the games next Friday. This

:08:01. > :08:06.report begins with the oldest person to carry the flame.

:08:06. > :08:13.A limbering up for London's first sight of the relay, torch-bearer

:08:13. > :08:18.number 72. But look again. Pounding the pass near his home, he is 101

:08:18. > :08:22.and he has only just given up marathon running. I don't think of

:08:22. > :08:26.myself as old, so that is not an issue. Everybody does their bit and

:08:26. > :08:33.the moment I feel old, that will be the end of it and so I refused to

:08:33. > :08:37.believe it. From the moment 15 year-old Natasha raised the flame

:08:37. > :08:42.at the Greenwich Observatory, this was a day packed with remarkable

:08:42. > :08:48.images. Sir Robin Knox Johnston, circling the Cutty Sark at

:08:48. > :08:58.Greenwich. An injured soldier from Afghanistan requiring the

:08:58. > :08:59.

:08:59. > :09:05.ceremonial procession. And the first gymnast to score a perfect 10

:09:05. > :09:08.back in 76. Throughout his long journey there has been a sense of

:09:08. > :09:11.competition between different communities as they mount a welcome

:09:11. > :09:17.for the torch. In Hackney they have brought in 70 street performers

:09:17. > :09:21.from Rio to mount their own all day carnival. This event looked forward

:09:21. > :09:25.to the 2016 Olympics. In Stratford, where triple jumper Phillips Idowu

:09:25. > :09:30.was passing in the street below, the British Olympic Association had

:09:30. > :09:35.high hopes for the Games that are now so close. The team that we will

:09:35. > :09:41.be sending to these games will be the best prepared, best-supported,

:09:41. > :09:47.British Olympic team ever. Newham they had only one athlete on
