:01:04. > :01:09.forensic work was going on, prosecutors in France confirmed
:01:09. > :01:13.that each of the victims was shot twice in the head. Over 40 French
:01:13. > :01:17.police officers are working on the case and it has emerged they are
:01:17. > :01:22.being helped by colleagues from Switzerland and Italy. We'll have
:01:22. > :01:26.the latest from France in a moment. First, this report from Tom Symonds.
:01:26. > :01:32.The smart house belonging to the al-Hilli family in Claygate Surrey
:01:32. > :01:36.has been sealed off. A close forensic examination has begun. The
:01:36. > :01:41.facts that British officers are now involved shows this has become an
:01:41. > :01:44.international inquiry, straddling the English Channel. This evening,
:01:44. > :01:48.British and French officers promised full co-operation. The
:01:48. > :01:53.Surrey force is offering the UK's specialist officers to help the
:01:53. > :01:58.surviving daughters of the family. I want to place the emphasis on the
:01:58. > :02:03.victims of this tragic incident and Surrey Police working with our
:02:03. > :02:08.French colleagues are ensuring that all those who need support will get
:02:08. > :02:12.the support specifically Surrey Police deployed specially trained
:02:12. > :02:17.family liaison officers both in the UK and abroad in France. French and
:02:17. > :02:20.British police have refused to say if there is a theory as to why the
:02:20. > :02:24.killings happened, but the possibility it resulted from a
:02:24. > :02:27.family feud requires that all members of the al-Hilli family be
:02:27. > :02:33.questioned as part of the investigation.
:02:33. > :02:37.They will be combing Saad al- Hilli's finances. There were
:02:37. > :02:42.suggestions he and his brother were involved in a property dispute.
:02:42. > :02:47.Police say the brother denied that. They will be looking at Mr Al-
:02:47. > :02:52.Hilli's friends, businesses. Senior officers arrived in London last
:02:52. > :02:56.night, but co-ordinating an inquiry that may stretch across Europe
:02:56. > :02:59.maybe tricky. It is a French inquiry so Surrey
:02:59. > :03:02.Police would not be wanting to do anything that would interfere with
:03:02. > :03:05.anything the French will be doing. Surrey Police will have a
:03:05. > :03:08.responsibility to inform the British coroner as to what happened
:03:08. > :03:13.to British nationals abroad. Forensic work continues at the
:03:13. > :03:22.house, but police are focusing on the life of this family and Mr Al-
:03:22. > :03:25.Hilli in particular in the search Relatives of the two girls who
:03:25. > :03:27.survived the shooting have arrived in France to be with them. Four-
:03:27. > :03:31.year-old Zeena al-Hilli is being looked after by the French
:03:31. > :03:34.authorities. Her seven-year-old sister, Zainab, remains in a
:03:34. > :03:41.medically induced coma in hospital. Our correspondent, Jon Kay, is in
:03:41. > :03:46.Well, Matthew, it is clear here tonight that this investigation is
:03:46. > :03:48.getting much wider. Tom was describing the UK end of things. It
:03:48. > :03:52.is based, the investigation, here in France, where the shootings
:03:52. > :03:57.happened, but it is now questions being asked in neighbouring
:03:57. > :04:01.countries in Europe, even in Iraq where its al-Hilli family came from.

:04:05. > :04:14.country lane not far from here where two little girls saw their
:04:14. > :04:19.parents shot and they were shot On this Alpine campsite, there is
:04:19. > :04:23.one abandoned caravan. The al-Hilli family family left their pitch for
:04:23. > :04:27.a day-trip, but never returned. Police have now searched their
:04:27. > :04:33.vehicle, for any clues about what happened, but all that's visible
:04:33. > :04:39.are the handle bars of a little girl's bike and DVDs of cartoons.
:04:39. > :04:44.The older daughter, seven-year-old, Zainab is in a coma at this
:04:44. > :04:48.hospital. Her little sister, Zeena, who is only four, wasn't physically
:04:48. > :04:52.hurt, but she has been cared for by psychiatrists elsewhere.
:04:52. > :04:57.Family members have now arrived in France to support the young sisters
:04:57. > :05:00.who saw their parents shot in the head in this lay-by. It is
:05:00. > :05:06.understood a male and female relative arrived in the region
:05:06. > :05:10.today, but it maybe sometime before they are allowed to see the
:05:10. > :05:15.children. This afternoon the local prosecutor
:05:15. > :05:18.said the aim was for the girls to be back in the arms of their family.
:05:18. > :05:21.Police said that would have to be done sensitively and without
:05:21. > :05:27.compromising the investigation. He added that for security reasons,
:05:27. > :05:31.he could say no more. There are no obvious signs of
:05:31. > :05:37.police activity at the crime scene anymore. It seems the authorities
:05:37. > :05:42.are now looking beyond this part of rural France, co-ordinating with
:05:42. > :05:50.their counterparts in Switzerland and Italy, checking border records
:05:50. > :05:54.and CCTV for any sign of a getaway Hundreds of thousands of tourists
:05:54. > :05:59.from across Europe come come to this part of the world every year.

:06:31. > :06:35.learn about the assailants. The the difference and the change that we
:06:35. > :06:40.will notice is we are going to get less information. It has been clear
:06:40. > :06:43.to us today that the police are very, very very frustrated by the
:06:43. > :06:48.speculation and by the coverage. They want to close this down,
:06:48. > :06:51.concentrate on the job in hand and solve, they hope, what they have
