:00:49. > :00:51.Good afternoon. Jimmy Savile's nephew has spoken of
:00:51. > :00:58.his family's turmoil over allegations of sexual abuse
:00:58. > :01:01.surrounding the late TV presenter and DJ. Roger Foster - who at first
:01:01. > :01:04.defended his uncle - said the claims had now overwhelmed the
:01:04. > :01:07.family and made it difficult for them to reconcile their image of a
:01:08. > :01:14.man who did so much for charity with one who committed, what he
:01:14. > :01:17.called, indecent criminal acts. This report from Ed Thomas in Goole.
:01:17. > :01:23.He was the nation's entertainer, now police say he is one of the
:01:23. > :01:28.country's most prolific sex offenders. I wake up in the morning
:01:28. > :01:32.and wonder what's going to happen next. After weeks of allegations,
:01:32. > :01:37.Jimmy Savile's nephew says his family's been left in despair.
:01:37. > :01:43.Totally devastating, I cannot understand for the life of me how a
:01:43. > :01:46.guy who did so much good in his life with the work that he did, his
:01:46. > :01:54.charity work, his Trusts, the people that he helped, could have
:01:54. > :02:01.such a dark side to him that nobody knew about. Did you ever suspect
:02:01. > :02:05.your uncle, any doubts, any any sp -- suspicions? None whatsoever. I
:02:05. > :02:08.still have a part of me proud of him, not proud of the way things
:02:08. > :02:14.have turned out, but proud of the things that he did, in trying to
:02:14. > :02:18.help other people. And I am so absolutely devastated and
:02:18. > :02:24.disappointed that this dark side is the side that he will be remembered
:02:24. > :02:28.for. I am also devastated and disappointed and very sympathetic
:02:28. > :02:32.towards the people who have kept this dark secret all of their lives.
:02:32. > :02:35.Today, there was another sign of the past catching up with Jimmy
:02:35. > :02:41.Savile. The head of the Roman Catholic Church in England and
:02:41. > :02:46.Wales is trying to have his Papal knighthood removed. Police have
:02:46. > :02:55.over 300 potential victims. It's a lot to take in for the family left
:02:55. > :02:59.behind. We enjoyed life. We did so many good things. Brought so much
:02:59. > :03:04.happiness to many people and now all of that's gone. Jimmy Savile's
:03:04. > :03:08.nephew said he felt like he had to speak out on behalf of his family.
:03:08. > :03:16.He said the repercussions of this scandal were enormous. He also
:03:16. > :03:20.asked one question - where will it all end?
:03:20. > :03:22.Women who quit smoking by the age of 30 will almost completely avoid
:03:22. > :03:25.the risks of dying early from tobacco-related diseases. That's
:03:25. > :03:29.according to a study in the medical journal the Lancet which studied
:03:29. > :03:32.more than a million women in the UK. And, as our health correspondent
:03:32. > :03:36.Branwen Jeffreys reports, it also found that long-term smokers lost
:03:36. > :03:42.around ten years from their lifespan.
:03:43. > :03:47.Angela took up smoking at the age of 11, so giving up when she was 28
:03:47. > :03:51.was tough. Angela got advice and nicotine substitutes from her local
:03:51. > :03:55.NHS, but it also took a lot of willpower. Today's research shows
:03:55. > :04:00.by giving up while she's still young, Angela should live as long
:04:00. > :04:06.as a non-smoker and she's already feeling healthier. It's amazing. I
:04:06. > :04:10.can feel it already, actually. It's great just being able to breathe
:04:10. > :04:14.again. If I have a night out I wake up in the morning before wheezing,
:04:14. > :04:18.but I I don't have that any more. I have my sense of smell back which
:04:19. > :04:22.is like a new experience for me, I didn't realise that for all these
:04:22. > :04:27.years I couldn't really smell anything.
:04:27. > :04:33.It was in the 1950s and 60s that British women took up smoking in
:04:33. > :04:37.large numbers. I just wanted to be sophisticated. That was the big
:04:37. > :04:41.thing when you were about 19 and you have older friends who smoke
:04:41. > :04:46.heavily. I saw a woman on a bus with long red fingernails, she was
:04:46. > :04:49.smoking. I said, I was 15, and I wanted to look like her. Now by
:04:49. > :04:53.following that generation researchers have been able to
:04:53. > :04:57.measure the impact. Using information from more than a
:04:57. > :05:01.million women the study in the Lancet compares smokers and non-
:05:01. > :05:05.smokers. On average, female smokers died ten years earlier than non-
:05:05. > :05:09.smokers. Stopping smoking by the age of 40
:05:09. > :05:14.meant they died just one year before non-smokers.
:05:14. > :05:17.And stopping by 30 meant almost all of the extra risk was avoided.
:05:17. > :05:21.More than half of all women who smoke and keep on smoking will get
:05:21. > :05:25.killed by tobacco but we have also found that if you stop early enough
:05:25. > :05:30.you will avoid most of that risk. This study shows if you give up
:05:30. > :05:35.young, you will live longer. But smoking is so damaging there are
:05:35. > :05:42.other reasons to quit sooner, not later. It prematurely ages skin,
:05:42. > :05:45.and makes it harder for women to get pregnant.
:05:45. > :05:49.The Environment Secretary has confirmed that a ban on the import

:06:48. > :06:52.Opposition activists have accused the government of resuming aerial

:07:44. > :07:51.We woke up assuming there was a truce. But at 5.00am the army

:08:30. > :08:37.squarely blamed rebels. It calls them terrorists for all the
