:00:28. > :00:33.and the loyalist protestors in Belfast. A police officer has been

:00:33. > :00:43.taken to hospital. England are on the brink of a win over India in

:00:43. > :00:52.

:00:52. > :00:54.the third Test in Kolkata. Good evening. The chairman of the

:00:54. > :00:58.King Edward VII Hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge was treated

:00:58. > :01:03.earlier this week, has written to the head of the radio station that

:01:03. > :01:06.made a hoax call to the hospital on Tuesday. The nurse who took the

:01:06. > :01:11.call, Jacintha Saldanha, was found dead yesterday. The hospital's

:01:11. > :01:16.letter said she had been humiliated. They urged the station to take

:01:16. > :01:20.steps to ensure that the incident could not be repeated.

:01:20. > :01:24.Jacintha Saldanha's family have said that they were deeply saddened

:01:24. > :01:29.by their loss. She leaves behind a husband and two children.

:01:29. > :01:33.The hospital described her as an excellent, well-respected nurse,

:01:33. > :01:36.popular with her colleagues. Tonight, the hospital released a

:01:36. > :01:41.letter it sent to the Australian company, which runs the radio

:01:41. > :01:45.station. In it, Lord Glen Arthur, the

:01:45. > :01:55.chairman of the King Edward VII Hospital, urged the broadcaster to

:01:55. > :02:08.

:02:09. > :02:12.ensure that there could not be In Australia, the news of Jacintha

:02:12. > :02:17.Saldanha's death has left people in disbelief.

:02:17. > :02:21.At the centre of a fire storm... Mel Greig and Michael Christian,

:02:22. > :02:25.the two DJs behind the stunt were said to be shattered by what has

:02:25. > :02:29.happened. They are on indefinite leave and have been offered

:02:29. > :02:33.counselling by the radio station. The chief executive offered his

:02:33. > :02:38.deepest sympathy to the family of Jacintha Saldanha, but said that

:02:38. > :02:43.the station had not broken laws or broadcasting regulations.

:02:43. > :02:50.No-one could reasonably foresee what actually happened in this case.

:02:50. > :02:54.It is incredibly tragic. Everyone of us are deeply saddened.

:02:54. > :02:58.Today, 2Day FM's Facebook page received more than 10,000 messages,

:02:58. > :03:01.most of them are hostile to the presenters and station. A number of

:03:01. > :03:04.major companies have pulled advertising, although some

:03:04. > :03:08.political leaders here say that the incident has to be put into

:03:08. > :03:13.perspective. As long as there has been radio,

:03:13. > :03:17.there has been prank phone calls. I'm not endorsing them, but

:03:17. > :03:21.regrettably, this has led to a real tragedy. I am sure that it will

:03:21. > :03:25.send a message to the industry. In London, the Duke and the Duchess

:03:25. > :03:28.of Cambridge have stressed their deep sadness for the death of

:03:28. > :03:32.Jacintha Saldanha. An inquest is to begin in London

:03:32. > :03:35.next week. At the same time, Australia's media

:03:35. > :03:39.regulator is to begin its investigation to see if the radio

:03:39. > :03:48.station was in breach of its licence, by broadcasting this now

:03:48. > :03:52.infamous phone conversation. A police officer has been taken to

:03:52. > :03:55.hospital after being injured in clashes with the loyalist

:03:55. > :04:01.protestors in East Belfast. The violence began as people made their

:04:01. > :04:04.way home from a large rally at Belfast City Hall. The loyalistists

:04:04. > :04:08.are angry about the decision to restrict the number of days from

:04:08. > :04:11.which the flag is flown from the building.

:04:12. > :04:16.Saturday afternoon in the centre of Belfast. What is supposed to be one

:04:16. > :04:20.of the busiest shopping days before Christmas.

:04:20. > :04:23.Loyalists gathered from the north, south, the east and the west to

:04:23. > :04:29.protest. This is what it was all about.

:04:29. > :04:32.The absence from the top of Belfast City Hall, of the Union flag.

:04:32. > :04:37.The council decided on Monday to stop flying the flag every day.

:04:37. > :04:42.There have been protests ever since. You know, the bottom line is this...

:04:43. > :04:49.If you take the flag down or not, there are 1 million unionist

:04:49. > :04:53.Protestants living in this country, get used to us! We are here to

:04:53. > :04:57.protest against the removal our Union flag from the City Hall, but

:04:57. > :05:01.that is really scratching the surface of the problem if Northern

:05:01. > :05:04.Ireland, the fact that our heritage and traditions are being stripped

:05:04. > :05:09.from us. The protest meant that the

:05:09. > :05:12.Christmas market had to close. An Irish flag was burnt. Before

:05:12. > :05:22.leaving the crowd sang the National Anthem.

:05:22. > :05:23.

:05:23. > :05:28.# God save our queen. # The protest only lasted an hour. Once it ended

:05:28. > :05:31.business returned to normal in the centre of Belfast. The Christmas

:05:31. > :05:36.market, it even reopened, but then the trouble started in other parts

:05:36. > :05:41.of the city. It was mainly in East Belfast, on

:05:41. > :05:44.the road which leads to Stormont. The disturbances were relatively

:05:44. > :05:49.minor, but the police were ready just in case it escalated.

:05:49. > :05:54.Although many of the protests this week have been peaceful, others

:05:54. > :06:00.have not. Cars have been hi-jacked, property attacked and more than 20

:06:00. > :06:06.police officers have been injured. Let me be very clear, that this is

:06:06. > :06:12.tugry, disguised as a protest it will not be acceptial. We have the

:06:12. > :06:17.situation where loyalist paramilitary groups are involved in

:06:17. > :06:20.distrib uet --dies Buting the disorder.

:06:20. > :06:24.Loyalist paramilitaries are supposed to be on a ceasefire. The

:06:24. > :06:30.police so far have been able to contain the violence, but for the

:06:30. > :06:34.officers across this city, a long night lies ahead.

:06:34. > :06:39.The former South African President, Nelson Mandela, has been admitted

:06:40. > :06:45.to hospital in Pretoria for tests. Jacob Zuma said that Nelson Mandela,

:06:45. > :06:50.who is 94, was doing well. What more do we know at this stage,

:06:50. > :06:58.Andrew? Not a great deal. We are told that there is no course for --

:06:58. > :07:01.cause for concern. We know he has been flown from his home about an

:07:01. > :07:06.hour-and-a-half's flight to Pretoria. That is about it.

:07:06. > :07:09.The presidency is trying to balance the need for privacy with the

:07:09. > :07:14.obvious enormous interest that the condition is generating in the

:07:14. > :07:17.public here. He is seen as a father figure here. People take that

:07:17. > :07:21.relationship almost literally. There are reasons for concern. He

:07:21. > :07:27.is 94, he is in frail health and this is his third hospitalisation

:07:27. > :07:32.in two years. The other reason is that a couple of years ago when

:07:32. > :07:36.admitted for routine tests we found out it was in fact an acute

:07:36. > :07:40.respiratory infection. Having said that, though, the presidency is

:07:40. > :07:44.controlling the messages better and trying to be frank with the public.

:07:44. > :07:48.Now there is not cause for alarm at this stage.

:07:49. > :07:54.The High Court judge has delayed delivering a ruling on whether a

:07:54. > :07:59.boy with brain cancer must undergo radio they werey because of

:07:59. > :08:03.developments in the child's condition. Seven-year-old Neon had

:08:03. > :08:08.the tumour removed last year. The doctors advised him to have radio

:08:08. > :08:12.they werey, but the mother fears that it could cause the son long-

:08:12. > :08:18.term harm. England are on the brink of a win

:08:18. > :08:25.over India. India ended the fourth day, 2939-9. One wicket in hand as

:08:25. > :08:31.England close in to take a 2-1 lead in the series with a match to play.

:08:31. > :08:37.The ups and the downs of captaining England. At the start of the day,

:08:37. > :08:44.Alistair Cook saw his team add a paltry 14 runs. Then India got off

:08:44. > :08:47.to a flying start. England as advantage slipping through their

:08:47. > :08:53.fingers. Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir went to the bowling.

:08:53. > :08:59.Cook es nickname is Chef. After, England transformed. The first ball

:08:59. > :09:04.after the break, Virender Sehwag was out to Graeme Swan.

:09:04. > :09:09.The momentum shifted and Gautam Gambhir and Cheteshwar Pujara got

:09:09. > :09:14.into a dreadful mest. -- dreadful mess.

:09:14. > :09:19.Cheteshwar Pujara was run out. That affected Gautam Gambhir who soon

:09:19. > :09:25.followed. Then on to Steve Finn. Sachin Tendulkar arrived and went,

:09:25. > :09:29.out to Swan for five. Sachin Tendulkar is past his best.

:09:29. > :09:34.But this registered disbelief amongst his followers, how much can

:09:34. > :09:42.he play on? There is pressure on him and the skipper, Mahendra Singh

:09:42. > :09:51.Dhoni fell to James Anderson for a duck. When Zaheer Khan lost his
