:00:07. > :00:11.The hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge was treated this week

:00:11. > :00:17.condemns the Australian network which made a hoax call there.

:00:17. > :00:21.The nurse who took the call, Jacintha Saldanha, was found dead

:00:21. > :00:24.yesterday. The hospital said she had been humiliated.

:00:24. > :00:30.More violent clashes between police and loyalist protesters in Belfast.

:00:30. > :00:40.One police officer is taken to hospital. And, England are on the

:00:40. > :00:49.

:00:49. > :00:51.brink of a resounding win over Good evening. A hospital that was

:00:51. > :00:54.duped into revealing details about the Duchess of Cambridge's

:00:54. > :01:01.condition has accused the radio station behind the hoax call of

:01:01. > :01:05.humiliating its staff. The nurse who answered the phone, Jacintha

:01:05. > :01:07.Saldanha, was found dead yesterday. In a letter to the Australian

:01:07. > :01:12.station's owners, the chairman of the King Edward VII Hospital

:01:12. > :01:18.described the hoax as truly appalling. From Sydney, Duncan

:01:18. > :01:22.Kennedy reports. Jacintha Saldanha's family have

:01:22. > :01:27.said they were deeply saddened by their loss. She leaves behind a

:01:27. > :01:31.husband and two children. The hospital described her as an

:01:31. > :01:35.excellent, well respected nurse, who was popular with her colleagues.

:01:35. > :01:42.Tonight, the hospital released a letter it sent to the Australian

:01:42. > :01:46.company which runs the radio station. In it, the chairman of the

:01:46. > :01:56.King Edward VII Hospital urged the broadcaster to ensure there could

:01:56. > :02:09.

:02:09. > :02:13.never be another similar incident. In Australia, the news of the death

:02:13. > :02:19.has left people in disbelief. Tonight at the centre of a

:02:19. > :02:22.firestorm... The two DJs behind the phone stunt were said to be

:02:22. > :02:26.completely shattered by what's happened. They're on indefinite

:02:26. > :02:30.leave and have been offered counselling by the radio station.

:02:30. > :02:35.The chief executive offered his deepest sympathy to the family of

:02:35. > :02:41.Jacintha Saldanha, but said the station hadn't broken any laws or

:02:41. > :02:47.broadcasting regulations. No one could reasonably foresee what

:02:47. > :02:52.actually happened in this case. It's incredibly tragic. Every one

:02:52. > :02:57.of us are deeply saddened. Today, FM's Facebook page has received

:02:57. > :03:00.more than 10,000 messages, most hostile to the presenters and the

:03:01. > :03:03.station. A number of major companies have pulled their

:03:03. > :03:08.advertising, although some political leaders here say the

:03:08. > :03:14.incident has to be put in perspective. As long as it's been

:03:14. > :03:17.FM radio, there's been prank phone calls, I am not endorsing them but

:03:17. > :03:22.regretably this has led to a real tragedy and I am sure that it will

:03:22. > :03:28.send a message to the industry. London, Prince William attended a

:03:28. > :03:33.charity function tonight while his wife continues to rest at home. The

:03:33. > :03:36.Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have stressed their deep sadness for the

:03:36. > :03:41.death of Jacintha Saldanha. An inquest will begin in London next

:03:41. > :03:45.week. At the same time, Australia's media regulator will begin its

:03:45. > :03:54.investigation to see whether the radio station was in breach of its

:03:54. > :03:56.licence by broadcasting this now infamous phone conversation.

:03:56. > :03:59.There have been more clashes between loyalist protestors and

:03:59. > :04:02.police in Belfast. It follows a mass demonstration against a

:04:02. > :04:06.decision to restrict the number of days the Union flag will be flown

:04:06. > :04:09.from the City Hall. Police have appealed for calm and have accused

:04:09. > :04:14.loyalist paramilitaries of organising some of the violence.

:04:14. > :04:20.Our Ireland correspondent Mark Simpson reports.

:04:20. > :04:24.Day six of the protest, and still no end in sight. Attacks on the

:04:24. > :04:30.police, hijacking and stone throwing resulting in a huge

:04:30. > :04:35.security operation right across Belfast. And this is what it was

:04:35. > :04:40.all about. The absence from the top of Belfast City Hall of the Union

:04:40. > :04:44.flag. The council decided on Monday to stop flying the flag every day.

:04:44. > :04:49.There have been protests by loyalists ever since. You know the

:04:49. > :04:53.bottom line is this, whether you take a flag down, there is a

:04:53. > :04:55.million unionist Protestants live in this country, get used to us!

:04:55. > :05:00.All the people standing here listening to the interview their

:05:00. > :05:05.hearts are British. You know what, the blood that goes through our

:05:05. > :05:08.vein s is British as much as it was 100 years ago. The city centre

:05:08. > :05:14.protest on a busy Saturday afternoon meant a Christmas market

:05:14. > :05:18.at City Hall had to close. At one stage, an Irish flag was burned.

:05:18. > :05:23.And this was the reaction later, from a member of the main unionist

:05:23. > :05:27.party in Northern Ireland. It's not something you wouldn't see at a

:05:27. > :05:37.republican parade but I don't condone it, but I am not going to

:05:37. > :05:40.

:05:40. > :05:45.condemn it. Before leaving, the crowd sang the national anthem.

:05:45. > :05:50.The protest only lasted an hour and once it ended business returned to

:05:50. > :05:54.normal in the centre of Belfast. The Christmas market even reopened.

:05:54. > :05:59.But then the trouble started in other parts of the city. The

:05:59. > :06:03.violence was mainly in East Belfast, a policeman was attacked. He was

:06:04. > :06:06.the 28th officer to be injured in Northern Ireland this week. This is

:06:06. > :06:10.thuggery. Thuggery disguised as protest is never going to be

:06:10. > :06:13.acceptable and will not be acceptable. We also have the

:06:13. > :06:17.developing situation where loyalist paramilitary groups are now

:06:17. > :06:21.actively involved in orchestrating this disorder. In this part of

:06:21. > :06:31.Belfast last night there was a riot. Tonight, it's full of people going

:06:31. > :06:33.

:06:33. > :06:37.to Christmas parties. A hopeful sign at the end of a difficult week.

:06:37. > :06:39.UN Climate talks in Doha have ended with an agreement to extend a

:06:39. > :06:43.legally-binding pact to control greenhouse gas emissions until 2020.

:06:43. > :06:46.The pact - known as the Kyoto Protocol - was due to expire at the

:06:46. > :06:48.end of this month. Delegates from almost 200 countries also agreed in

:06:48. > :06:53.principle that rich countries would, for the first time, compensate

:06:54. > :06:56.poorer ones for the damage they've done to the climate.

:06:56. > :06:59.The former South African President, Nelson Mandela, has been admitted

:06:59. > :07:07.to hospital in Pretoria for tests. The current president, Jacob Zuma,

:07:07. > :07:11.said Mr Mandela - who's 94 - was doing well. Andrew Harding joins us

:07:11. > :07:15.now from Johannesburg. What more do we know? Mr Zuma also said there

:07:15. > :07:19.was no cause for alarm but there's precious little extra information.

:07:19. > :07:24.We know he is undergoing some sort of tests and that's about it. We

:07:24. > :07:29.also know that he was flown up from his village deep in rural South

:07:29. > :07:34.Africa, up to Pretoria today, not something that doctors would do

:07:34. > :07:38.lightly, given that Mr Mandela is frail, he is 94. We also heard a

:07:38. > :07:41.while ago one report, unconfirmed, that a traditional leader in Mr

:07:41. > :07:46.Mandela's village rushed to see him when she heard he was unwell and

:07:46. > :07:50.confirmed that he was not well. The presidency at the moment trying to

:07:50. > :07:54.balance the obvious need to protect Mr Mandela's privacy with this huge

:07:54. > :07:58.public interest that there is around South Africa and beyond in

:07:58. > :08:01.Mr Mandela and how he is doing. He is seen as a father figure here in

:08:01. > :08:05.South Africa and people take that relationship very seriously and

:08:05. > :08:08.they want to know how he is doing. People have been to see him in

:08:08. > :08:13.recent months. The Clintons went to see him at his rural home and said

:08:13. > :08:16.he was in good spirits but he is clearly frail and people are

:08:16. > :08:23.increasingly concerned about incidents like this and

:08:23. > :08:25.hospitalisations. Thank you. Egypt's President, Mohamed Morsi,

:08:25. > :08:28.is said to be considering making concessions to the opposition

:08:28. > :08:31.following days of unrest over a draft constitution which gave him

:08:31. > :08:34.sweeping powers. It comes after the army called for dialogue to resolve

:08:34. > :08:44.the crisis. From Cairo, Wyre Davies reports.

:08:44. > :08:49.

:08:49. > :08:55.They don't want their president to give an inch. Ultra conservativists

:08:55. > :08:59.this afternoon. President Morsi was elected

:08:59. > :09:09.democratically, they shout and the media is part of a campaign to

:09:09. > :09:09.

:09:09. > :09:13.discredit him. We came here today to media, media

:09:13. > :09:20.trying to kill the Egyptian revolution and try to restore the

:09:20. > :09:24.old regime. The President's opponents say Egypt's draft

:09:24. > :09:28.constitution is one-sided and doesn't leapt -- represent other

:09:28. > :09:33.groups or faiths. These men don't care. For them Egypt is sa Muslim

:09:33. > :09:38.country and Islam must have a prominent role. On the other side

:09:38. > :09:43.of Cairo, outside his presidential Palace, Mr Morsi is a figure of

:09:43. > :09:47.suspicious. A cartoon character whose power-grabbing decrees

:09:47. > :09:53.threaten the revolution all Egyptians fought for. We can

:09:53. > :09:56.negotiate after he removes whatever he did wrong against his citizens.

:09:56. > :10:00.He is not the president of the Muslim Brotherhood. He is the

:10:00. > :10:05.president of Egyptians. In its first statement since the crisis

:10:05. > :10:13.began, the military today warned it might be forced to intervene. But

:10:13. > :10:17.on whose side? As it did in the uprising against Hosni Mubarak, the

:10:17. > :10:21.army has thus far remained largely neutral between the Government and

:10:21. > :10:27.protesters. But if President Morsi was to now order the army to

:10:27. > :10:31.intervene on his behalf, that will be a real game-changer. Amid

:10:31. > :10:35.rumours the president was at least preparing to amend the new

:10:35. > :10:43.constitution, all Egyptians tonight, the army included, were still

:10:43. > :10:46.preparing for more trouble. The Foreign Secretary, William

:10:46. > :10:48.Hague, has said he's seen evidence that the Syrian government may be

:10:48. > :10:51.preparing to use chemical weapons against opposition fighters. Mr

:10:51. > :10:55.Hague again issued a warning to the Assad regime not to consider

:10:55. > :11:03.deploying them. The United States has already said there would be

:11:03. > :11:06.serious consequences if they did so. A High Court judge has delayed

:11:06. > :11:08.delivering a ruling on whether a boy with brain cancer must undergo

:11:08. > :11:11.radiotherapy, because of what he described as developments in the

:11:11. > :11:16.child's condition. Seven-year-old Neon Roberts had successful surgery

:11:16. > :11:18.to remove a tumour last year. Doctors subsequently advised him to

:11:18. > :11:26.have radiotherapy but his mother, Sally, said she feared the

:11:26. > :11:29.treatment could cause her son long- term harm. Ben Ando reports.

:11:29. > :11:35.Sally Roberts wants what she believes to be the best for her son

:11:35. > :11:39.and to do that she's fought doctors she disagrees with all the way to

:11:40. > :11:43.the High Court. Seven-year-old Neon Roberts was diagnosed with a brain

:11:43. > :11:47.tumour, an operation to remove it was a success. But then his mother

:11:47. > :11:51.disagreed with plans to give him radiotherapy. Doctors said that

:11:51. > :11:57.could stop the cancer coming back. She said she was worried it might

:11:57. > :12:02.shorten his life, reduce his IQ, and leave him infertile. But in

:12:02. > :12:06.court, sitting unusually on a Saturday, an unexpected development.

:12:06. > :12:14.The judge said he had intended to make a ruling today, but events

:12:15. > :12:20.overnight had, in his words, changed the medical landscape. He

:12:20. > :12:25.adjourned the case for ten days. Afterwards, Sally Roberts said her

:12:25. > :12:29.son is doing well. He is good. He is very good in himself and yes, we

:12:29. > :12:33.will speak early next week. Were you disappointed today? I think

:12:33. > :12:37.next week will be much better, thank you. If there was still no

:12:37. > :12:47.agreement on what's best for Neon before the next hearing, then the

:12:47. > :12:52.

:12:52. > :12:55.judge would decide. Sport now at the sports centre.

:12:55. > :12:59.By this time tomorrow, England's cricketers should be 2-1 up in the

:12:59. > :13:03.Test series. India are nine wickets down in their second innings and

:13:03. > :13:07.only lead by 32 runs heading into the final day in Kolkata. Rob Heath

:13:07. > :13:11.watched the action. At the start of the day alaster Cook watched eupbd

:13:11. > :13:21.why's openers get off to a flier. England's advantage seemed to be

:13:21. > :13:24.

:13:24. > :13:28.slipping through their fingers. After lunch England were

:13:28. > :13:38.transformed. First ball after the break out to Graeme Swann. One

:13:38. > :13:39.

:13:39. > :13:47.short of his 50. The momentum suddenly shifted. A real gift for

:13:47. > :13:51.England. Tendulkar arrived and soon went. Out for five. Tendulkar is

:13:51. > :14:00.past his best. A failure still registers disbelief among his

:14:00. > :14:05.followers, though. There's pressure on him and the skipper. When Khan

:14:05. > :14:13.became a third wicket, a remarkable victory within four days seemed a

:14:14. > :14:22.formality. They'll have to wait, though. Ashwin hit 83. He's surely

:14:22. > :14:25.delayed the inevitable, though. There were six matches in the

:14:25. > :14:28.Premier League today. Match of the Day is straight after the news, so

:14:28. > :14:30.if you don't want to know the results, then you should know what

:14:30. > :14:32.to do by now. Fernando Torres scored twice for

:14:32. > :14:34.Chelsea against Sunderland, including his first penalty in

:14:34. > :14:39.English Football. Sunderland dropped into the relegation zone

:14:39. > :14:42.after their 3-1 defeat. Mikel Arteta scored two penalties as

:14:42. > :14:44.Arsenal beat West Brom 2-0, Villa against Stoke was goalless. Jason

:14:44. > :14:47.Puncheon got the winner as Southampton beat fellow strugglers

:14:47. > :14:50.Reading to move out of the relegation zone. Norwich are

:14:50. > :14:54.unbeaten in nine matches after beating Swansea 4-3. QPR are still

:14:54. > :14:57.winless and bottom of the league. They drew 2-2 at Wigan.

:14:57. > :15:00.Celtic are three points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier

:15:00. > :15:03.League after beating Kilmarnock 3-1 at Rugby Park. Georgios Samaras -

:15:03. > :15:06.who helped Celtic reach the last 16 of the Champions League in the week

:15:06. > :15:11.- headed in their third after earlier goals from Scott Brown and

:15:11. > :15:13.Joe Ledley. Elsewhere, Hearts beat Aberdeen 2-0.

:15:13. > :15:16.Inverness have jumped into second place after beating Hibs 3-0. 3-2

:15:16. > :15:22.to Motherwell against Ross County and nine-man St Johnstone drew 1-1

:15:22. > :15:25.at St Mirren. There were six matches in the

:15:25. > :15:29.Heineken Cup today. Munster and Saracens are now level on points at

:15:29. > :15:31.the top of Pool One after the Irish side ran out 15-9 winners at

:15:31. > :15:34.Thomond Park. Ronan O'Gara kicked all their points. Elsewhere, there

:15:34. > :15:43.were wins for Exeter and Harlequins. Sale, Ospreys and Edinburgh all

:15:43. > :15:46.lost. Finally, Mark Selby will play Shaun Murphy in tomorrow's UK
