:00:00. > :00:08.Police name three people on board the helicopter that crashed in
:00:09. > :00:11.Glasgow on Friday night. They were pilot David Traill and
:00:12. > :00:22.police constables Tony Collins and Kirsty Nelis.
:00:23. > :00:26.In Glasgow Cathedral, a special service remembers the dead and
:00:27. > :00:30.injured. With 12 people still being treated
:00:31. > :00:34.in hospital, we'll have the latest. Also on the programme this evening:
:00:35. > :00:40.Cutting the cost of being green - the government says it will take ?50
:00:41. > :00:42.off every annual energy bill. In Thailand, anti-government
:00:43. > :00:44.demonstrators give the government an ultimatum after the biggest street
:00:45. > :00:47.protests for three years And the Tigers earn their stripes - Hull
:00:48. > :01:12.City beat Liverpool in the Premier League.
:01:13. > :01:16.Good evening. Police have named the three people
:01:17. > :01:19.on board the helicopter that crashed in Glasgow on Friday night - they
:01:20. > :01:26.were the pilot, David Traill, and two police officers, Kirsty Nelis
:01:27. > :01:29.and Tony Collins. 12 people are still being treated in hospital,
:01:30. > :01:33.three of them are in intensive care. Attempts are continuing to remove
:01:34. > :01:43.the helicopter from the site. Our Scotland correspondent James Cook is
:01:44. > :01:48.in Glasgow for us. James. Yes, nearly two days after this
:01:49. > :01:52.helicopter crashed, the pain it has caused is becoming clearer. As you
:01:53. > :01:57.say, eight people are confirmed dead, three seriously injured in
:01:58. > :02:04.hospital, and police unable to rule out the possibility of finding more
:02:05. > :02:09.bodies in the wreckage. Slowly, gently, inch by inch, the whole
:02:10. > :02:13.impact of this crash is becoming clear. It has left the city with
:02:14. > :02:17.many questions, and now the search for answers is beginning. But first,
:02:18. > :02:24.emergency services have another job. They must bring out the dead,
:02:25. > :02:28.including three of their own. This is a painstaking process which we
:02:29. > :02:32.expect to take some time because we need to ensure the safety of the
:02:33. > :02:39.operation and the members of the emergency services. They are working
:02:40. > :02:46.tirelessly at the scene. The scars are not just physical. Today, with
:02:47. > :02:51.great courage, a survivor of the crash returned to the scene to pay
:02:52. > :03:02.tribute. He said his only memory was waking up and being pulled out why a
:03:03. > :03:18.fireman. I came back today because... A man died next to me.
:03:19. > :03:23.The names and faces of the dead are being made public. Kirsty Nelis was
:03:24. > :03:30.36, she had won an award for bravery. So had her Connick -- her
:03:31. > :03:35.colleague, PC Tony Collins. The pilot, David Traill, also died. He
:03:36. > :03:45.had served with the RAF. And in the pub, Gary Ardley -- Gary Arber was
:03:46. > :03:50.one of the big ones. At Glasgow Cathedral they gathered in sorrow.
:03:51. > :03:55.This city has been shaken, but it is still standing tall, crowd of how
:03:56. > :04:02.ordinary Glaswegians and the emergency services risked their
:04:03. > :04:15.lives to help others. We do not end this day in despair. Our answer is
:04:16. > :04:20.that we stand defiant, and are great, vibrant and irrepressible
:04:21. > :04:25.city shall stand together with those who are suffering. The city is
:04:26. > :04:33.standing together as shock its way to grieve.
:04:34. > :04:36.Two sisters who were in the part of the Clutha pub directly hit by the
:04:37. > :04:39.helicopter both feared the other was dead. Ann Faulds and Nancy Primrose
:04:40. > :04:42.were injured but were back home today. They talked to Chris Buckler
:04:43. > :04:50.about escaping from the pub and surviving, when others didn't.
:04:51. > :04:56.The search operation seems to dominate the skyline. In the shadows
:04:57. > :05:00.of the buildings, people are paying tribute, and those who escaped from
:05:01. > :05:09.the pub are reflecting on what could have been. All the people that
:05:10. > :05:16.didn't make it, all their families, they just went for a night out. We
:05:17. > :05:32.were lucky. We were really lucky. Nancy was with her sister at the pub
:05:33. > :05:39.when the ceiling caved in. Amid the chaos, neither knew if the other was
:05:40. > :05:45.safe. They are aware that their survival rested simply on where they
:05:46. > :05:52.sat at the bar. Nancy was blown straight up in the air. She was a
:05:53. > :05:57.couple of feet away from me. Within seconds of the blast, people were
:05:58. > :06:01.being pulled out. People must have straightaway started to pull people
:06:02. > :06:07.out. Both sisters were injured but break time their family could not be
:06:08. > :06:14.sure if they were alive or dead. The phone call I got was, Nancy is not
:06:15. > :06:21.good, you need to be here. It was horrible. There are families still
:06:22. > :06:30.facing the same fears, and others grieving. Families gathered nearby,
:06:31. > :06:34.watching as the surface -- as the rescue operation continues. For
:06:35. > :06:43.others who escaped, it was important to come here. It's the families, it
:06:44. > :06:51.is just everybody involved, really. People want to remember, despite the
:06:52. > :07:00.horror. They are still praying for the survivors and the families of
:07:01. > :07:04.those lost in this crash. And they are still trying to extricate the
:07:05. > :07:11.fusilade of the helicopter from the record -- from the wreckage to try
:07:12. > :07:14.to establish what happened. That is obviously a dangerous operation and
:07:15. > :07:18.one that is sensitive as well, given what they might find inside. It is
:07:19. > :07:24.likely to go one for considerable time.
:07:25. > :07:27.The Government is promising to reduce everyone's energy bills by
:07:28. > :07:30.?50 a year in an effort to quell concerns about rising fuel costs.
:07:31. > :07:34.Ministers say it will be paid for from general taxation and a further
:07:35. > :07:37.crackdown on tax avoidance. Labour says the move won't prevent future
:07:38. > :07:41.energy price rises and will do little to address what it says is a
:07:42. > :07:49.cost of living crisis. Here's our political correspondent, Adam
:07:50. > :07:54.Fleming. Is this season when the energy
:07:55. > :07:58.industry puts up its prices. Most of the big six companies have announced
:07:59. > :08:05.increases, pushing the average jewel will all above 1400 pounds. To the
:08:06. > :08:10.rescue, David Cameron and Nick Clegg, writing today about how the
:08:11. > :08:15.government plans to save families ?50 a year. A scheme where poorer
:08:16. > :08:21.households get subsidised energy paid for by everybody else will be
:08:22. > :08:24.funded I general taxation instead. In other scheme will be spread out
:08:25. > :08:31.over a longer period than planned to make it cheaper. That will help
:08:32. > :08:34.families, and we're doing it in the way the government can do it, which
:08:35. > :08:39.is controlling the costs families incurred because of government
:08:40. > :08:43.policies. We're also doing it in a way that will not damage the
:08:44. > :08:48.environment. There will also be a new grant of ?1000 for people moving
:08:49. > :08:54.house who want to make energy-saving improvements, although some in the
:08:55. > :08:59.industry are not convinced. At the moment, you can get up to ?1000 if
:09:00. > :09:04.you install measures, you don't even have to move house. You need to use
:09:05. > :09:10.certain contractors. But that is already there, if only people knew
:09:11. > :09:15.about it. Gas and electricity bills will be frozen. This all comes after
:09:16. > :09:21.that pledge by Labour that they would freeze bills for nearly two
:09:22. > :09:25.years if elected in 25th team. Anything they do is better than
:09:26. > :09:28.nothing. Shifting from bills to taxes is taking with one hand to
:09:29. > :09:37.give with the other. People still pay more bills. Is there a price
:09:38. > :09:42.freeze? No. No need for the energy companies here at the Southbank
:09:43. > :09:47.Centre. These decorations are pedal powered. What do you think of this
:09:48. > :09:52.idea of taking ?50 off your bill? Well, any money coming off my bill
:09:53. > :10:02.is good. That is just under ?1 a week. I think it is a little too
:10:03. > :10:08.late. This is not a rebate, there will be no check in the post. It is
:10:09. > :10:12.a small reduction in our bills that are largely in the hands of our
:10:13. > :10:16.energy companies. EDF said that next year they expected prices to stay
:10:17. > :10:21.the same, not that they would go down. It might not feel like a big
:10:22. > :10:24.early Christmas present, but the government hopes it will be banked
:10:25. > :10:30.when they announce further details on Thursday.
:10:31. > :10:33.At least four people have died and a dozen more have been injured after a
:10:34. > :10:36.train derailed in New York. Several carriages left the tracks as the
:10:37. > :10:42.train went round a bend in the Bronx. From the scene, Nick Bryant
:10:43. > :10:45.has just sent this report. The railway along the Hudson River
:10:46. > :10:49.is normally one of the most interesting ways to enter New York.
:10:50. > :10:55.But this morning it became the scene of death and chaos. A train left the
:10:56. > :10:58.tracks on a sharp bend just Lance -- just yards from the station and just
:10:59. > :11:05.yards from the freezing water. Lead carriage came to the -- came to a
:11:06. > :11:09.stop just short of the river. The first emergency crews reached the
:11:10. > :11:15.scene within five minutes. They had to shatter windows to reach
:11:16. > :11:20.survivors. Eyewitnesses said the train approached the bend going
:11:21. > :11:23.unusually fast. It is really scary that something like that could
:11:24. > :11:30.happen. It is a very tight turn. It is a sharp curve. Maybe there was a
:11:31. > :11:35.broken rail involved. I don't know, these guys know it is a curve will
:11:36. > :11:41.stop as well as carrying woodland from passengers, police divers also
:11:42. > :11:46.searched the waters. More people would have been killed had this not
:11:47. > :11:51.happened so only on a Sunday morning with a train that was only half
:11:52. > :11:55.full, carrying 150 passengers. The authorities say if this had happened
:11:56. > :11:58.at the start of a working week with a crowded commuter train, they would
:11:59. > :12:03.have been dealing with a much more major disaster. At least four people
:12:04. > :12:08.have been killed and over 60 injured. Investigators say they will
:12:09. > :12:10.examine the track and the signal system, and also interviewed the
:12:11. > :12:18.driver, who was injured but survived.
:12:19. > :12:22.Tributes are being paid to Paul Walker, the actor who shot to fame
:12:23. > :12:25.in the Fast And The Furious series of action movies, who has died in a
:12:26. > :12:28.car crash in California. The 40-year-old was a passenger in a
:12:29. > :12:32.Porsche when the driver lost control in Los Angeles. The vehicle collided
:12:33. > :12:34.with a tree and caught fire. China has launched its first moon
:12:35. > :12:37.probe, marking a major milestone in the country's space programme. It's
:12:38. > :12:42.being carried onboard an unmanned rocket which has just taken off from
:12:43. > :12:45.Southern China. It is expected to land on the moon and begin carrying
:12:46. > :12:52.out experiments by mid-December if everything goes to plan.
:12:53. > :12:55.Police and anti-government protestors have been fighting
:12:56. > :12:58.running battles on the streets of the Thai capital Bangkok. Water
:12:59. > :13:01.canon and tear gas has been used against the demonstrators opposed to
:13:02. > :13:04.what they claim is the corrupt leadership of Yingluck Shinawatra.
:13:05. > :13:13.From the Thai capital, Jonathan Head has just sent this report.
:13:14. > :13:18.They have been trying for more than a week. A wave of mainly
:13:19. > :13:22.middle-class marchers, fighting, they say, to preserve the values of
:13:23. > :13:27.old Thailand, like reverence for the King. Hoping the power of protest
:13:28. > :13:35.can shake a government they accuse of corruption and bribing poor
:13:36. > :13:41.voters. Just short of the prime ministers office, they hit in wall.
:13:42. > :13:49.The police had fortified it. They tried siege tactics. And throwing
:13:50. > :13:58.rocks. But this time, the police responded.
:13:59. > :14:04.This is now the front line of this attempt to break through to
:14:05. > :14:07.government offices. They been pushing for hours now, all the way
:14:08. > :14:12.to get to this point, and they are stuck all stop we got pepper spray,
:14:13. > :14:19.tear gas, so far that has been enough to keep the protesters at
:14:20. > :14:24.bay. They have not gone yet. They brought in some unusual improvised
:14:25. > :14:30.weapons. But they just couldn't get past the waves of stinging gas. I
:14:31. > :14:37.have no idea, but this is what we do. We hope we win. Were you carry
:14:38. > :14:46.on after today? I think so. It's hard right now, but this is what we
:14:47. > :14:52.going to do. For the country. By nightfall, they had made little
:14:53. > :14:59.progress. Down to a few hard-core young men. No people's revolt, then.
:15:00. > :15:02.And they know that if an election was held tomorrow, the government is
:15:03. > :15:08.still loved by much of rural Thailand and would probably win
:15:09. > :15:16.again. Time now for some sport.
:15:17. > :15:19.Liverpool have mist the chance to reduce Arsenal's lead at the top of
:15:20. > :15:24.the Premier League after they were beaten by Hull City for the first
:15:25. > :15:28.time. It was a bad afternoon but Totten at Manchester United, who
:15:29. > :15:35.drew 2-2. Plans to change Hull City's name
:15:36. > :15:40.have gone down badly with some of their fans. On the field, the Tigers
:15:41. > :15:44.have lacked teeth this season. Jake Livermore's deflected goal provided
:15:45. > :15:50.some much-needed bite. Steven Gerrard quickly got his side a
:15:51. > :15:56.contract. They had never lost against whole, but with 18 minutes
:15:57. > :16:02.left, David Meyler got the home side back in front. And Martin Skrtel's
:16:03. > :16:09.own goal made it three. Hull City celebrated a famous win. Debate over
:16:10. > :16:15.the name can make another day. Inside White Hart Lane, a sense of
:16:16. > :16:18.unease. After last weekend's rushing at Manchester City, Spurs started
:16:19. > :16:23.like a side who wanted to build bridges. Instead, Kyle Walker
:16:24. > :16:30.started by smashing through a wall. Tottenham should have extended their
:16:31. > :16:35.lead, but Wayne Rooney had a chance of an equaliser. The pressure was
:16:36. > :16:44.back on Andrew Vilas Boas, but not belong. Seconds later, United were
:16:45. > :16:50.back level. Danny Welbeck was brought down and Rooney 's penalty
:16:51. > :16:58.was emphatic all stop either side could have won it. A draw was
:16:59. > :17:03.probably a fair result. Chelsea conceded after 13 seconds but went
:17:04. > :17:07.on to eat their opponents 3-1. Fulham have sacked their manager
:17:08. > :17:15.after 2.5 years with the club will stop babe lost six games in a row
:17:16. > :17:25.and Aaron in -- and are in 18th place. Aberdeen are through to the
:17:26. > :17:33.fifth round of the Scottish club. Celtic past Hart 7-0.
:17:34. > :17:36.Rory McIlroy has won his first title of the year, beating Adam Scott at
:17:37. > :17:41.the final hole. He started the day for shots behind, but an excellent
:17:42. > :17:45.round saw him take the title I1 stroke.
:17:46. > :17:47.That is it from
