:00:12. > :00:21.. Workers work through the rubble of the helicopter crash. The pilot was
:00:22. > :00:30.David Traill and with him were two police constables, Tony Collins and
:00:31. > :00:36.Kirsty Nelis. The dead and the injured are remembered at a special
:00:37. > :00:40.service in Glasgow Cathedral. 12 of the injured are still being treated
:00:41. > :00:44.in hospital tonight. Also on the programme - cutting the cost of
:00:45. > :00:48.being green, the Government says it will take ?50 off the average annual
:00:49. > :00:52.energy bill. Violent clashes in Ukraine tonight,
:00:53. > :00:59.as demonstrators demand closer links with Europe, not Russia. This is a
:01:00. > :01:05.scene of absolute chaos. The police are growing stunned. There is...
:01:06. > :01:12.This is a major political crisis in Ukraine. And the class of 1992 comes
:01:13. > :01:34.of age. Manchester United's dream team, the focus of a new film.
:01:35. > :01:39.Police have named t three people on board the helicopter that crashed in
:01:40. > :01:44.Glasgow on Friday night. They were the pilot, David Traill and two
:01:45. > :01:48.police officers, Kirsty Nelis and Tony Collins. 12 people are still
:01:49. > :01:52.being treated in hospital. Three of them are in intensive care. Attempts
:01:53. > :01:56.to remove the helicopter from the site have been continuing all day.
:01:57. > :02:04.We'll get the latest now from James Cook, who is in Glasgow tonight. Two
:02:05. > :02:08.days after this crash now and the pain it has caused is becoming ever
:02:09. > :02:12.clearer. As you say, police have confirmed that eight people have
:02:13. > :02:19.died, but they also say that they cannot rule out finding more bodies
:02:20. > :02:23.in the wreckage. Slowly, gently, inch by inch, the
:02:24. > :02:27.full impact of this crash is becoming clear. It has left this
:02:28. > :02:33.city with many questions. And now, the search for answers is beginning.
:02:34. > :02:36.But first, the merge services have -- emergency services have another
:02:37. > :02:42.job, they must bring out the dead, including three of their own. So
:02:43. > :02:46.what is the plan tonight? We have lifted the helicopter probably 18
:02:47. > :02:51.inches to two feet today to try to tunnel under. It's secure now on the
:02:52. > :02:55.end of the crane. It's very, very delicate and painstaking work and
:02:56. > :03:00.also we have to be very careful not to cause further collapse. The scars
:03:01. > :03:06.this disaster has left are not just physical. Today, with courage, a
:03:07. > :03:09.survivor returned to the scene to pay tribute. Craig said his only
:03:10. > :03:27.memory was waking up and being pulled out by a fireman. I don't
:03:28. > :03:34.remember anything after that. There was a man next to me. He was dead.
:03:35. > :03:40.The names and faces of the dead are being made public. Kirsty Nelis was
:03:41. > :03:45.36, a police constable on the air support unit, who had won an ward
:03:46. > :03:51.for bravery, so too had PC Tony Collins, who was 43. The pilot,
:03:52. > :03:56.David Traill also David he had served with the RAF in both Gulf
:03:57. > :04:01.wars and in the pub, Gary Arthur from Paisley was among the victims.
:04:02. > :04:07.His daughter said he meant the world to her. At Glasgow Cathedral, they
:04:08. > :04:12.gathered in sorrow. This city has been shaken, but it's still standing
:04:13. > :04:16.tall, proud of how ordinary people and the emergency services risked
:04:17. > :04:29.their lives to help others. We do not end this day in despair of the
:04:30. > :04:38.losses. But our answer is that we stand defiant and that our great and
:04:39. > :04:44.vibrant and irrepressible city shall stand together with our suffering
:04:45. > :04:50.ones. The city is standing together. One candle for each of the dead,
:04:51. > :04:54.giving some light amid the darkness. Well, two sisters who were in the
:04:55. > :04:59.pub when the helicopter hit have been telling us how each feared that
:05:00. > :05:02.the other was dead. Ann Faulds and Nancy primrose were injured, but
:05:03. > :05:13.they were back home and they've been talking to my colleague about
:05:14. > :05:20.surviving, when so many did not. When the blast went off I looked and
:05:21. > :05:26.I seen everything around about me was debris. I looked to the right
:05:27. > :05:29.and there were bodies. Nancy was blown up in the air and on the
:05:30. > :05:35.ground. She was a couple of feet away. Those who escaped The Clutha
:05:36. > :05:39.pub can't help but think what could have beenment both of the sisters
:05:40. > :05:43.were injured, but they know their survival depended on where they sat
:05:44. > :05:51.in the bar. There were so many people who just didn't make it out.
:05:52. > :06:03.All their families lost them and the people went for a night out. We were
:06:04. > :06:07.lucky. People are still piece together their memories after the
:06:08. > :06:11.shock of Friday noiT, working out who was in the bR and where.
:06:12. > :06:16.Relatives rushed to the scene hoping for news, but all the time dreading
:06:17. > :06:21.what it would be. The phone call that I got was Nancy's not good and
:06:22. > :06:25.you need to be here. I thought that meant come and see Nancy before she
:06:26. > :06:30.passes away. It's a horrible thing. There are families still facing
:06:31. > :06:34.their fears and others are grieving. Today, again, people gathered at the
:06:35. > :06:38.corner near the pub in part because they didn't know what else they
:06:39. > :06:42.could do. They watched and prayed as the search operation continued, but
:06:43. > :06:54.for some, including those who escaped, it was important to at
:06:55. > :06:59.least come here. It's the families and everybody that was involved. I
:07:00. > :07:04.feel so lucky to be alive. Us two sisters and we both came out.
:07:05. > :07:08.Tonight, the search operation still seems to dominate the skyline, but
:07:09. > :07:17.despite the horror, people are determined to remember.
:07:18. > :07:21.Investigators are probably examining we are told two theories, either a
:07:22. > :07:25.failure of both engines, possibly caused by some kind of fuel problem,
:07:26. > :07:29.or some kind of catastrophic failure, perhaps in the gear box of
:07:30. > :07:37.the helicopter, but it may be some time before we know for sure.
:07:38. > :07:41.The Government is promising to reduce the average energy bill by
:07:42. > :07:45.?50 a year in an effort to quell concerns about rising fuel costs.
:07:46. > :07:49.Ministers say it will be paid for from general taxation and a further
:07:50. > :07:53.crackdown on tax avoidance. Labour says the move won't prevent future
:07:54. > :08:00.energy price rises and will do little to address what it says is a
:08:01. > :08:04.cost of living crisis. The political temperature has been
:08:05. > :08:09.rising over fuel costs. Labour's promising a price freeze, while five
:08:10. > :08:12.of the big six energy companies have announced above-inflation increases
:08:13. > :08:15.in bills. So, today, the Government attempted to take the wind out of
:08:16. > :08:21.the opposition's sails. What we are going to do is role back the levies
:08:22. > :08:26.that -- roll back the levies that are placed on bills and this will
:08:27. > :08:31.mean that for the average bill payer they'll have ?50 off their bills and
:08:32. > :08:35.it will help families and we're doing it in the way that Government
:08:36. > :08:39.can do it. So, to ease the pressure on bills, companies will no longer
:08:40. > :08:42.have to meet the cost of discounts for low-income households. The
:08:43. > :08:48.Government will foot the bill, but they say the money will come down
:08:49. > :08:56.from clamping down on tax evasion, not taxpayers' pockets and allow
:08:57. > :09:00.companies to roll out home instalation measures. Those who move
:09:01. > :09:05.house will be eligible to ?1,000 towards a bill. Some in the industry
:09:06. > :09:12.are not that impressed. Actually, at the moment you can get up to ?1,000
:09:13. > :09:16.help if you instale measures. You don't have to move house. You do
:09:17. > :09:21.have to use certain contractors, but that's already there, if only people
:09:22. > :09:27.knew about it. Not everyone will get ?50 off. One company, EDF, raised
:09:28. > :09:32.prices by much less this winter than many. It hasn't made a commitment to
:09:33. > :09:40.bring prices down. Other companies will make their positions clearer
:09:41. > :09:44.tomorrow. Under Ed's plan gas and electricity bills will be frozen.
:09:45. > :09:48.The Government have denounced this as a con, but the opposition say the
:09:49. > :09:52.Government is using smoke and mirrors to conveal a cosy deal with
:09:53. > :09:59.the energy companies. Energy prices are going up this winter by ?130. A
:10:00. > :10:03.?50 cut when they're going up by twice that means people are still
:10:04. > :10:09.paying more. At the start of the festive season, even the prospect of
:10:10. > :10:13.some money off didn't fill everyone with Christmas cheer. Too little too
:10:14. > :10:19.late. Any money of my bill is always good. The Government's been worried
:10:20. > :10:22.that the outlook has been obscured over the rising bills. The
:10:23. > :10:25.Chancellor will hope he's done enough today to generate more
:10:26. > :10:29.positive headlines. We'll speak to Iain Watson now.
:10:30. > :10:33.You've been looking into this ?50 promise all day. What do you think
:10:34. > :10:38.in I think at this time of year that any good offer that's around has to
:10:39. > :10:41.be studied very closely and looked at by the small print. What the
:10:42. > :10:47.Government is saying is they're enabling companies to reduce the
:10:48. > :10:53.average bill by ?50. But that will be still in excess of ?1400 for gas
:10:54. > :10:57.and electricity. N every company is pledging to give a reduction. One
:10:58. > :11:00.company has said because they kept their increases to a relatively low
:11:01. > :11:03.level then they're not necessarily going to give customers any money
:11:04. > :11:09.back. If you're a customer of one of the other big six, don't expect a
:11:10. > :11:13.Christmas bonus either. Don't expect a cheque in a post. The impact won't
:11:14. > :11:17.be felt until 2014. The Government thinks it will have a popular
:11:18. > :11:20.message and it's do what it can to reduce the bit of the bill it
:11:21. > :11:24.controls. Some will be told by clamping down on bad employers who
:11:25. > :11:27.avoid national insurance contributions, but Labour think
:11:28. > :11:30.think message is far simpler and easier to understand, simply freeze
:11:31. > :11:36.prices this winter, whether the energy companies like it or not.
:11:37. > :11:39.Thank you. At least four people have been
:11:40. > :11:46.killed and dozens injured after a New York City commuter train
:11:47. > :11:51.derailed. Several carriages left the track in the Bronx. The railway
:11:52. > :11:55.along the Hudson River is ordinarily one of the most pist touresque ways
:11:56. > :12:00.to enter New York, but earlier this morning it became a scene of death
:12:01. > :12:04.and chaos. The train left the tracks on a sharp bend, only yards from a
:12:05. > :12:10.station and yards from the freezing water. The lead carriage came to a
:12:11. > :12:13.halt just short of the river. The derailment occurred at 7. 20am and
:12:14. > :12:17.the first emergency crews reached the scene within five minutes. They
:12:18. > :12:21.had to shatter windows of the toppled carriages to reach
:12:22. > :12:25.survivors. Eyewitnesses said the train had approached the bend going
:12:26. > :12:28.unusually fast. It's really scary that something like that could
:12:29. > :12:34.happen. You wonder what speed they were approaching the turn. From her
:12:35. > :12:40.apartment high above, Mabel heard the terrifying noise. It felt like a
:12:41. > :12:49.force, a sound and a big force coming towards you. Very, very
:12:50. > :12:52.powerful. As well as scouring the woodland for passengers, police
:12:53. > :12:57.divers searched the waters of the river. The derailment occurred early
:12:58. > :13:01.on a Sunday morning, on a holiday weekend on a train thankfully that
:13:02. > :13:05.was only half full with 150 passengers. It this been a week-day
:13:06. > :13:10.commuter service the authorities say they would have been dealing with a
:13:11. > :13:15.much more major disaster. Investigators are examining the
:13:16. > :13:18.track, the signal system, the locomotive's black box recorder too.
:13:19. > :13:26.They'll also interview the driver, who was injured, but survived this
:13:27. > :13:33.fatal derailment. There have been mass protests on the
:13:34. > :13:39.streets of the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. Demonstrators claim the
:13:40. > :13:49.President is intent on strengthening links with Russia. Police use tier
:13:50. > :13:53.gas against the protesters. -- tear gas against the protesters. This is
:13:54. > :13:59.what happened when they went to see the President in Kiev today. Riot
:14:00. > :14:03.police clashed with anti-Government protesters, near the President's
:14:04. > :14:08.headquarters. The angry crowd tried to push their way through. But they
:14:09. > :14:11.were forced back. The protesters are calling for revolution. They're
:14:12. > :14:15.trying to breakthrough the police lines and get to the presidential
:14:16. > :14:21.administration building over there, but this is a scene of absolute
:14:22. > :14:25.chaos. The police are throwing stun grenades and there is total... This
:14:26. > :14:34.is a major political crisis in Ukraine. Earlier, more than 100,000
:14:35. > :14:39.people had flooded Kiev to demand political change. They accuse the
:14:40. > :14:44.authorities of a disastrous U-turn. The Government here has rejected
:14:45. > :14:50.closer ties with the EU in favour of relations with Russia. Hundreds of
:14:51. > :14:55.protesters took over Kiev's City Council building. With a quick show
:14:56. > :15:01.of hands, the Mayor was out. They declared a new administration. Who
:15:02. > :15:06.is in power tonight in Kiev? The people. The people. People of
:15:07. > :15:12.Ukraine. One senior Government official said the situation in Kiev
:15:13. > :15:17.was under control. But today's violence suggests that Ukraine, one
:15:18. > :15:25.of Europe's biggest countries, is entering a period of huge
:15:26. > :15:31.uncertainty. Time now for some of the sport. Over
:15:32. > :15:35.to Karthi at the BBC sport centre. Thank you. There were four Premier
:15:36. > :15:39.League games as well as Scottish Cup fixtures today, so if you don't want
:15:40. > :15:43.to know the result please pop out of the room for one moment. Liverpool
:15:44. > :15:46.failed to reduce Arsenal's lead at the top of the table and are now in
:15:47. > :15:50.fourth after they were beaten by Hull for the first time 3-1 the
:15:51. > :15:56.score. Chelsea took advantage of
:15:57. > :15:59.Liverpool's defeat to move into second thanks to a win against
:16:00. > :16:03.Southampton. Manchester City moved up to third with a 3-0 win over
:16:04. > :16:07.Swansea. Tottenham and Manchester United shared the points after a 2-2
:16:08. > :16:11.draw. Fulham have sacked Martin Jol after
:16:12. > :16:17.two-and-a-half years. They've lost six games in a row. They are in 18th
:16:18. > :16:22.place. Rene Meulensteen will take over. Celtic are through to the
:16:23. > :16:26.fifth round after thrashing Hearts 7-0. Kris Commons scored a hattrick.
:16:27. > :16:33.Aberdeen are also through after a 1-0 win over Partick. David deck ham
:16:34. > :16:39.and Ryan Giggs and their 1992 Manchester United youth team-mates
:16:40. > :16:44.have taken a trip down memory lane. It's the premiere of a film
:16:45. > :16:48.documenting their unique success which culminating in them winning
:16:49. > :16:54.the treble in 1999. There is flash photography in the report.
:16:55. > :16:58.21 years after they burst on to the scene, the six are now famous faces
:16:59. > :17:02.and firm friends. On the red carpet to see the premiere of a film
:17:03. > :17:07.telling the story of their lives in football. All of us were just
:17:08. > :17:09.wanting to be professional footballers and playing for
:17:10. > :17:14.Manchester United. That's all we ever wanted. What we did over those
:17:15. > :17:18.ten or 15 years was something they would never have dreamt off. It was
:17:19. > :17:25.so special. The class of 1992 tells the story of a group of young men in
:17:26. > :17:30.Manchester, who went on to define a footballing generation. Just six
:17:31. > :17:35.young lads who were enjoying life. In our eyes we your just playing
:17:36. > :17:39.with our mates. I was loving it. They went from being Manchester
:17:40. > :17:43.United's FA Cup udge side to winning the Champions League and achieving
:17:44. > :17:49.an unprecedented treble. Six boys who grew up together and then became
:17:50. > :17:54.friends for life. It was good, because six good lads who loved each
:17:55. > :18:00.other's company and it went from there. From 12 or 13 right up until
:18:01. > :18:04.today. While all six are involved in football, playing, coaching and in
:18:05. > :18:09.the media or in the case of David Beckham, starting work on his new
:18:10. > :18:17.MLS club and while their story is an unusual as it is inspiring, their
:18:18. > :18:24.place in British footballing history is guaranteed. Rory McIlroy has won
:18:25. > :18:30.his first title in 2012 beating Adam Scott on the final hole at Royal
:18:31. > :18:34.Sydney. He was four shots behind, but an excellent round saw him take
:18:35. > :18:38.the title by one stroke. That's all your sport.
:18:39. > :18:40.That's it from us. More
