:00:21. > :00:26.Good afternoon. Storms and high tides have left hundreds of homes

:00:27. > :00:29.flooded across the UK from Cornwall to Scotland and there are warnings

:00:30. > :00:36.of worsening conditions over the weekend. The Environment Agency is

:00:37. > :00:44.advising people to avoid coastal paths and promenades. Our

:00:45. > :00:48.correspondent Jon Brain reports. Much of Britain's coastline is

:00:49. > :00:55.taking a battery. This was Dorset this morning as the waves came

:00:56. > :01:01.crashing over the sea wall. It was a similar scene in Aberystwyth in

:01:02. > :01:06.Wales. Today is more about assessing the damage from yesterday's storms.

:01:07. > :01:12.This man owns a gym on the beach here. It will not be reopening any

:01:13. > :01:19.time soon. It has ruined everything. It is the second time it has

:01:20. > :01:22.happened in three months. As you can see, the power of the sea is so

:01:23. > :01:29.strong it has taken everything with it. In Devon, a search is underway

:01:30. > :01:33.for Harry Martin. The 18-year-old was last seen heading towards

:01:34. > :01:42.coastal path to take photos of the storm. He is considered a potential

:01:43. > :01:49.victim. Experts say conditions in North America are to blame. That has

:01:50. > :01:55.powered a very strong jet stream and it has picked up areas of low

:01:56. > :01:59.pressure and forces them our way. It can strengthen them into storms, and

:02:00. > :02:05.that is what we have seen, one after another. Then maybe another on the

:02:06. > :02:12.way tomorrow. We are bracing ourselves for a further deluge. And

:02:13. > :02:15.for the latest on the situation go to bbc.co.uk/news or for regular

:02:16. > :02:18.updates in your area you can tune into regular updates on BBC Radio on

:02:19. > :02:22.FM, digital radio, and online. The family of a British man found shot

:02:23. > :02:25.dead in Libya have said they are devastated by the news of his

:02:26. > :02:28.murder. Mark De Salis had been working for a power company in the

:02:29. > :02:32.capital Tripoli for the past six years. The bodies of Mr De Salis and

:02:33. > :02:35.a woman friend from New Zealand were discovered near the town of Zuwarah,

:02:36. > :02:46.60 miles west of Tripoli. Nick Childs reports. It was on this beach

:02:47. > :02:50.where the bodies of Mark De Salis and a friend from New Zealand were

:02:51. > :02:54.discovered. According to his family, ye had been working in Tripoli for

:02:55. > :02:57.six years for an engineering company. His family have said they

:02:58. > :03:13.are shocked and devastated by his death. Why the two were in this area

:03:14. > :03:21.and why they were killed remains unanswered. Their luggage was

:03:22. > :03:25.untouched. There is a major oil sites nearby. The Foreign Office

:03:26. > :03:29.have called for an investigation by the Libyan government but it is

:03:30. > :03:36.struggling to assert its authority over militant groups. Friends and

:03:37. > :03:41.colleagues of Phil Everly have been paying tribute to the singer, who's

:03:42. > :03:44.died in California aged 74. He rose to fame in the 1950s as one of the

:03:45. > :03:48.two Everly brothers, best known for songs including Bye Bye Love and All

:03:49. > :04:05.I Have To Do Is Dream. Tim Allman reports.

:04:06. > :04:11.# Bye, buy, love. When it came to close harmony singing, nobody did it

:04:12. > :04:17.like the Everly Brothers. Phil Everly, here on the left, and his

:04:18. > :04:22.brother Don helped define rock 'n' roll in the late 1950s and 1960s.

:04:23. > :04:33.They set the standard for many that followed.

:04:34. > :04:40.# Wake up, Susie. There is nothing than brothers -- sweeter than

:04:41. > :04:46.brothers singing together. I don't think two people who aren't related

:04:47. > :04:55.can sound the same. Phil Everly was born in 1939 in Chicago. He first

:04:56. > :05:00.found success singing country music. They had dozens of hits

:05:01. > :05:05.around the world but it was a stormy relationship, and they split up on

:05:06. > :05:10.stage in 1973. They reunited ten years later and were eventually

:05:11. > :05:15.inducted into the rock 'n' roll hall of fame. Phil Everly died in Los

:05:16. > :05:21.Angeles, one half of a band described as the most important

:05:22. > :05:27.vocal duo in rock. Phil Everly who has died at the age of 74. Cricket.

:05:28. > :05:30.England's cricketers now need a miracle to avoid an Ashes whitewash

:05:31. > :05:33.in Sydney. Their latest batting collapse has left them facing a

:05:34. > :05:36.fifth defeat in the series. Australia resume tomorrow on 140 for

:05:37. > :05:39.four, already 311 runs ahead. From Sydney, Dan Roan reports You can see

:05:40. > :05:43.more on all of today's stories on the BBC News Channel. Here in Sydney

:05:44. > :05:48.today, England knew everything depended on the art of batsmanship.

:05:49. > :05:54.The skill of art and craft to build an innings was once again a battle

:05:55. > :06:01.between England bat and Australian ball. Tourists had hoped for a lead

:06:02. > :06:04.but Alistair Cooke left his judgement in the dressing room. This

:06:05. > :06:05.was cricketing carnage and none of the top five reached double

:06:06. > :06:23.It was now down to the youngsters figures. Ian

:06:24. > :06:28.It was now down to the youngsters and once again, Ben Stokes provided

:06:29. > :06:36.some fight and defiant C. That's nearly delayed the inevitable. It

:06:37. > :06:44.was a small mercy but the follow one was avoided by some low water

:06:45. > :06:51.resistance. -- follow-on. Their bowlers did capture the Australian

:06:52. > :06:56.wickets with Chris Rogers extending the lead beyond 300, it felt futile.

:06:57. > :07:02.The hosts already seemed too far ahead. Oh, dear. That's all from me,

:07:03. > :07:04.stay with us on
