:00:10. > :00:15.long investigation at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport.

:00:16. > :00:18.Celebrations after the first same-sex marriages take place in

:00:19. > :00:29.England and Wales, some religious groups though remain opposed.

:00:30. > :00:32.Search crews looking for the missing Malaysian airliner retrieve objects

:00:33. > :00:35.from the sea but nothing so far links them to the plane.

:00:36. > :00:37.And a six off the last ball isn't enough as England are knocked out of

:00:38. > :01:00.the World T20. Good evening.

:01:01. > :01:04.A former nurse has appeared in court in Manchester accused of murdering

:01:05. > :01:07.three patients. Victorino Chua, who's 48, was charged after a long

:01:08. > :01:12.police investigation at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport. He's

:01:13. > :01:17.also accused of 31 other offences, including attempted poisoning. Ed

:01:18. > :01:35.Thomas's report contains some flash photography.

:01:36. > :01:39.After two years on bail the moment Victorino Chua is arrested. He

:01:40. > :01:44.arrives at court to face more than 30 charges. They included three

:01:45. > :01:49.counts of murder, 22 of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent,

:01:50. > :01:53.and seven counts of attempting to poison patients. Police were first

:01:54. > :01:57.called to the hospital in July, 2011, after the deaths of

:01:58. > :02:02.44-year-old Tracey Arden, Arnold Lancaster he was 71, and 83 roll

:02:03. > :02:10.Derek Weaver. Detectives believe they were given same line

:02:11. > :02:13.contaminated with insulin. The BBC has been given access to the

:02:14. > :02:17.hospital, a place West African patients are watched over like never

:02:18. > :02:23.before. There are hundreds of cameras outside the ward, they film

:02:24. > :02:29.everybody coming in and out, and their own security team who patrols

:02:30. > :02:33.the corridor with support officers from Greater Manchester Police.

:02:34. > :02:37.Nurses who need to administer insulin work in pairs, they check

:02:38. > :02:41.each other's work, while the cameras check them. Stepping Hill says this

:02:42. > :02:48.is about making patients and staff feel safe. Three years ago another

:02:49. > :02:54.former nurse, Rebecca Leighton, was held for six weeks, suspected of

:02:55. > :02:57.tampering with say line bags -- Saline bags but all charges were

:02:58. > :03:04.dropped. Her former colleague was taken away in a prison van, remanded

:03:05. > :03:13.in custody to appear at a Crown Court next week.

:03:14. > :03:15.The Prime Minister has sent his congratulations to the same-sex

:03:16. > :03:18.couples who got married in England and Wales today, after the law

:03:19. > :03:22.enabling gay weddings came into force. But the change in the law

:03:23. > :03:25.does not mean gay people have the right to be married in religious

:03:26. > :03:29.ceremonies. Reeta Chakrabarti's report contains some flash

:03:30. > :03:32.photography. I am now very happy to announce that

:03:33. > :03:38.you are now legally husband and husband. Just after midnight they

:03:39. > :03:42.were pronounced husband and husband although the squeals of delight

:03:43. > :03:46.drowned out the words. In London and Brighton men were marrying men,

:03:47. > :03:53.same-sex marriage had legally arrived, and today there was more to

:03:54. > :03:57.come. Same-sex couples have been waiting for this day for years, all

:03:58. > :04:04.across the country for top it marks a moment of major social change and

:04:05. > :04:08.personal joy. We will celebrate the rest of the day, it means so much to

:04:09. > :04:14.us we could have our friends and loved ones here. They could have had

:04:15. > :04:18.a civil partnership which would have given them almost identical legal

:04:19. > :04:21.rights, but they held out for today. The government brought

:04:22. > :04:23.same-sex marriage into law last year. David Cameron wrote this

:04:24. > :04:37.message. Love being what holds you

:04:38. > :04:40.together... Some, like this couple, are having a humanist ceremony after

:04:41. > :04:43.the registry office but they couldn't have a church wedding if

:04:44. > :04:48.they wanted one, as the law prevents the Church of England from

:04:49. > :04:53.conducting them and prevent other religious groups from performing.

:04:54. > :04:55.Some say their opposition is about protecting marriage. We cannot

:04:56. > :05:00.redefine an institution, something that always has been, because we say

:05:01. > :05:05.it is something we want. Is very self-centred, it is not about

:05:06. > :05:09.rights, it is about seeking cultural dominance and seeking to redefine

:05:10. > :05:13.marriage for all of us. There is a deep vein of dissent but overall

:05:14. > :05:18.this is a big moment in society's concept of what marriage is, a

:05:19. > :05:22.ritual millions of heterosexual couples have full century taken for

:05:23. > :05:32.granted has been opened up to any couple, regardless of which gender

:05:33. > :05:35.they love. The search for the Malaysian

:05:36. > :05:38.Airlines plane is resuming again far off the coast of Australia with ten

:05:39. > :05:41.aircraft now looking for signs of wreckage. Today the Malaysian

:05:42. > :05:44.Transport Minister said the families of those onboard wanted the world to

:05:45. > :05:50.know that "miracles do happen." Our correspondent, Jonah Fisher, sent

:05:51. > :05:55.this report from Perth. Having lost more passengers than any

:05:56. > :06:01.other country, China plays a growing role in efforts to find the missing

:06:02. > :06:06.plane. Two day its aircraft joined those from Australia, New Zealand

:06:07. > :06:12.and Japan -- today. All the King for some sign the flight had ended its

:06:13. > :06:19.last flight on the Indian Ocean. -- all looking. New analysis of the

:06:20. > :06:24.fuel consumption has moved efforts 700 miles to the north. Several

:06:25. > :06:33.planes have seen objects in this new search area, but it will not be

:06:34. > :06:40.until ships follow-up will we know if this new debut has anything to do

:06:41. > :06:44.with the flight. -- debris. This was a Chinese ship finding and fishing

:06:45. > :06:51.something man-made out of the churning sea for top was this piece

:06:52. > :06:57.of paper the first trace of the missing plane? After taking a closer

:06:58. > :07:00.look the verdict was probably not. In Malaysia officials once again met

:07:01. > :07:05.with relatives of those on board. Miracles do happen. Remote or

:07:06. > :07:11.otherwise, that is the hope the family members want me to convey not

:07:12. > :07:17.only to the Malaysian government but to the world at large. 26 countries

:07:18. > :07:21.and a team of experts have been working on this case. But the

:07:22. > :07:31.world's greatest aviation mystery still feels a very long way from

:07:32. > :07:34.being solved. Here, two men died when a light

:07:35. > :07:38.aircraft crashed this afternoon near Chelmsford in Essex. The YAK 52

:07:39. > :07:40.plane went down in a field near Cocksmill Green, having taken off

:07:41. > :07:43.from a nearby airfield. George Osborne has again dismissed

:07:44. > :07:48.the idea that Scotland could retain the pound in the event of

:07:49. > :07:51.independence. The Chancellor was reacting to a newspaper report in

:07:52. > :07:54.which an un-named Westminster minister claimed Scotland would be

:07:55. > :07:58.able to use the pound even if it voted to leave the UK. Our Scotland

:07:59. > :08:08.Political Editor, Brian Taylor, reports.

:08:09. > :08:12.This is potentially damaging to supporters of the union, as it

:08:13. > :08:16.appears to reinforce SNP claims that a independent Scotland could retain

:08:17. > :08:21.the pound in a currency union with the rest of the UK. In February the

:08:22. > :08:25.Chancellor, along with Labour and Liberal Democrats, ruled out an

:08:26. > :08:31.agreement on sterling, saying it wouldn't either Scotland or the

:08:32. > :08:38.remainder of the UK. The Guardian quotes an unnamed minister saying

:08:39. > :08:41.there would be a currency union. The reality is if Scotland votes yes,

:08:42. > :08:45.democratically then a currency union will be in the best interest of

:08:46. > :08:49.Scotland economically and financially, just as it will be in

:08:50. > :08:53.the best interest of the rest of the UK. The bluff and bluster of the no

:08:54. > :08:58.campaign has been totally exposed by the story. The Treasury insists

:08:59. > :09:04.those who take the decisions on the economy still well out a currency

:09:05. > :09:08.union. It would not work for the rest of the United Kingdom, from my

:09:09. > :09:12.point of view it would not work for Scotland either. It is not a bluff

:09:13. > :09:15.or pretence, it is the truth that people should understand when they

:09:16. > :09:18.come to vote in referendums in September, a currency is off the

:09:19. > :09:24.table and the pressure should be back on Alex Salmond to set out what

:09:25. > :09:27.his real plan is. He was speaking at the Scottish Liberal Democrat

:09:28. > :09:32.conference in Aberdeen for the Lib Dem ministers, Tory ministers, all

:09:33. > :09:35.those campaigning for the union, are privately furious at today's

:09:36. > :09:39.development. That is because the currency is crucial in this contest

:09:40. > :09:43.for popular support in the Scottish referendum. Today's developed and

:09:44. > :09:52.adds bite to that, it leaves the two sides competing over credibility.

:09:53. > :09:54.The Conservative MP, Mark Menzies, has resigned tonight as a

:09:55. > :09:57.ministerial aide following allegations about his private life

:09:58. > :10:00.in tomorrow's newspapers. Mr Menzies, the MP for Fylde, said a

:10:01. > :10:10.number of the allegations were not true and he was looking forward to

:10:11. > :10:13.setting the record straight. Taliban insurgents have attacked the

:10:14. > :10:15.headquarters of the Afghan election commission in Kabul. Gunmen, dressed

:10:16. > :10:19.as women, opened fire after breaking into a nearby building. Four of the

:10:20. > :10:22.attackers were killed by Afghan special forces. As our Kabul

:10:23. > :10:26.correspondent David Loyn reports, it's the latest in a series of

:10:27. > :10:33.militant attacks in the run-up to presidential elections.

:10:34. > :10:39.Not quite a daily routine, but unnervingly frequent. Afghan

:10:40. > :10:44.security forces responding to an attack and searing fire with fire.

:10:45. > :10:47.This time the target was a heavily defended compound of stories and

:10:48. > :10:51.offices housing the election commission. The organisation was

:10:52. > :11:00.preparing to announce how many polling stations can be open given

:11:01. > :11:01.in security, for the election to choose a successor to President

:11:02. > :11:17.Carvalho -- cos I. -- Anna cos I. For suicide bombers have entered my

:11:18. > :11:20.house, I have three guards, two outside and one inside, but I do

:11:21. > :11:30.know what is happening right now. The attackers were wearing burkhas.

:11:31. > :11:36.The Taliban have turned their attention to the body supervising

:11:37. > :11:41.the process, fire appliances on stand-by to put out any fires that

:11:42. > :11:44.would damage ballot papers or other records. Bringing democracy after

:11:45. > :11:47.three decades of conflict was never going to be easy for stop the

:11:48. > :11:53.Taliban are exacting a high price for this election. The attack was

:11:54. > :11:57.the second in 24 hours, and the fourth in eight days. Police were

:11:58. > :12:01.today assessing the damage to a guesthouse used by an American aid

:12:02. > :12:04.organisation attacked last night, following an attack on a hotel used

:12:05. > :12:16.by foreigners and wealthy Afghans last week and another attack on an

:12:17. > :12:20.election office. With all the sport, here's Olly

:12:21. > :12:24.Foster at the BBC Sport Centre. 22 goals in the Premier league. If

:12:25. > :12:29.you want the results now, here they come. Chelsea are still top of the

:12:30. > :12:33.table but Jose Mourinho says they will not lose the title after losing

:12:34. > :12:40.at Crystal Palace. John Terry scored a second-half goal. At Old Trafford

:12:41. > :12:44.and aeroplane trailed a banner above the stadium during Manchester

:12:45. > :12:48.United's match against Aston Villa demanding David Moyes be sacked.

:12:49. > :12:53.United won the match 4-1. Five other games, Chelsea stayed top because

:12:54. > :13:01.Manchester City drew 1-1 at Arsenal. Rodriguez scored twice for

:13:02. > :13:04.Southampton. Swansea 's victory over Norwich was their first league win

:13:05. > :13:07.in seven. What a match at the hawthorns, West Brom thought they

:13:08. > :13:12.had won it in injury time only for Cardiff to salvage a 3-3 is draw for

:13:13. > :13:16.stop Celtic won the Scottish permission on Wednesday. Today they

:13:17. > :13:26.were held to a draw at home. Neil Lennon said that his players might

:13:27. > :13:33.have had half a mind on another game.

:13:34. > :13:44.Kilmarnock were the only winners today beating Motherwell 2-1.

:13:45. > :13:49.England's cricket captain Stuart Broad says it is heartbreaking there

:13:50. > :13:52.will not reach the Twenty20 semifinals. They had to beat South

:13:53. > :13:55.Africa to have a chance of progressing but they lost by three

:13:56. > :14:00.runs. In their sights but out of reach,

:14:01. > :14:04.England had to win to stay in the hunt for the world Twenty20. But

:14:05. > :14:08.South Africa got off to a flyer. Enough to drive England fans crazy

:14:09. > :14:18.for stop floodlight failure interrupted the match twice. A fine

:14:19. > :14:25.56 was eclipsed. The stand-in captain was unplayable, 69 not out,

:14:26. > :14:29.48 of them off 40 balls and England needed to break records to win. For

:14:30. > :14:39.a while it looked like they might do it. Once Alex Hales had gone, it

:14:40. > :14:43.simply looked too much. The scoreboard kept moving but not fast

:14:44. > :14:49.enough. England needed an impossible ten runs off the last ball. They did

:14:50. > :14:53.the best they could. Stuart Broad's I'd have restored some pride, that

:14:54. > :15:00.is all they have got left to play for now.

:15:01. > :15:02.Leicester beat their great rivals Northampton 22-16 to cement their

:15:03. > :15:07.place in the play-offs. They are up to third in the table

:15:08. > :15:16.-- Gloucester held on to beat Exeter by

:15:17. > :15:20.one point. Harlequins beat London Irish.

:15:21. > :15:28.Cardiff Blues pulled off one of the shocks of the season beating

:15:29. > :15:33.Ulster. Leinster are still top, Brian O'Driscoll try helped them

:15:34. > :15:35.beat Munster. Two propositions for Lewis Hamilton,

:15:36. > :15:40.he will start at the front for the Malaysian Grand Prix, tropical

:15:41. > :15:48.downpour disrupted qualifying, made the condition is very tricky for

:15:49. > :15:57.stop --. It is his 33rd career pole position, it equals Gim macro was --

:15:58. > :16:02.it equals Gim Clark's record. When they mentioned it I couldn't believe

:16:03. > :16:06.it. I never in a million years would have thought of having the amount of

:16:07. > :16:11.propositions I have. I would wish I could convert them all into

:16:12. > :16:17.victories. I have got some catching up to do. Really proud. You can see

:16:18. > :16:26.that race on BBC One from ATM tomorrow morning.

:16:27. > :16:29.-- from 8am. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have unveiled a new family

:16:30. > :16:32.photo ahead of their forthcoming tour of New Zealand. The picture

:16:33. > :16:45.taken at Kensington Palace shows the couple with George and their dog.

:16:46. > :16:48.That is just about it from us. A reminder that The Andrew Marr Show,

:16:49. > :16:51.with the Defence Secretary Philip Hammond among the guests, will be on

:16:52. > :16:55.BBC Two tomorrow morning at nine o'clock, that's because of the Grand

:16:56. > :16:58.Prix on BBC One. Also don't forget the clocks go forward by one hour

:16:59. > :17:02.tonight for the start of British Summer Time. So from all of us on

:17:03. > :17:10.the team here, have a very goodnight!

:17:11. > :17:16.Good evening. The second half of the weekend will be very much like the

:17:17. > :17:18.first half for most of us. Where we have the sunshine, we will have the

:17:19. > :17:19.warmth as
