:00:21. > :00:27.Good evening. West African leaders meeting in Paris have promised to

:00:28. > :00:31.wage total war on the Islamists who kidnapped more than 200 girls in

:00:32. > :00:35.Nigeria last month. The Foreign Secretary, William Hague, urged West

:00:36. > :00:40.African nations to develop closer ties if they want to defeat Boko

:00:41. > :00:44.Haram. The leader of the most populist

:00:45. > :00:49.country in Africa, but how much of the north-east of Nigeria does

:00:50. > :00:52.Goodluck Jonathan control? As the president arrived for the summit

:00:53. > :00:56.this afternoon, Boko Haram was wreaking more havoc in Nigeria and

:00:57. > :01:01.Cameroon. It underlines the regional nature of this threat. We need all

:01:02. > :01:06.of those countries to be bringing together their intelligence and

:01:07. > :01:11.information. So that this is very relevant to finding the schoolgirls,

:01:12. > :01:18.not just to the long-term defeat of Boko Haram. To that end, the five

:01:19. > :01:20.West African nation as greed to coordinate patrols and pool

:01:21. > :01:24.intelligence. It's been five weeks since the girls went missing. It is

:01:25. > :01:27.likely they've been split into smaller groups and moved across the

:01:28. > :01:32.borders. That's one of the reasons why you

:01:33. > :01:38.see all of us here meeting with the president of France to see how we

:01:39. > :01:43.can work together, have a joint team that will see movement to any

:01:44. > :01:46.countries. In a way today's summit has delivered a meaningful result

:01:47. > :01:52.that. Is getting Nigeria and Cameroon, the two biggest countries,

:01:53. > :01:55.around the same table to discuss the problem. Politically speaking, they

:01:56. > :01:58.don't see eye to eye. One French official told us, until now,

:01:59. > :02:02.Cameroon has been largely ignoring the problem, despite a growing

:02:03. > :02:05.number of attacks within its own borders. This French priest,

:02:06. > :02:09.kidnapped in Cameroon and held for two months, says finding the

:02:10. > :02:12.schoolgirls won't be easy. In his experience, the fighters move at

:02:13. > :02:21.night, and the Nigerians, he says, aren't up to the task. They are

:02:22. > :02:24.afraid to fight them on the ground, so they bomb by day, but traffic

:02:25. > :02:29.comes in the evening and there was no plane. Western surveillance is

:02:30. > :02:33.now in place, but does it re-assure the families who wait? Nigeria has

:02:34. > :02:40.ruled out a prisoner swap and there's been no progress in five

:02:41. > :02:43.weeks. Members of the Co-operative Group

:02:44. > :02:47.have unanimously backed plans to change the way the organisation is

:02:48. > :02:52.run. The decision follows a disastrous year in which the company

:02:53. > :02:58.reported losses of 2. .5 billion. The shake up was proposed by Lord

:02:59. > :03:04.Myners who today welcomed the vote. Our business correspondent reports.

:03:05. > :03:10.From across the country, they came to Manchester this morning to Sov a

:03:11. > :03:13.battered -- tharning to save a battered business. Today's vote

:03:14. > :03:18.marks the start of a long and painful process of reform. There is

:03:19. > :03:21.a lot to do, some of it we can do straight away. Some of it will take

:03:22. > :03:26.a little more time. There is some that is urgent and we have to get on

:03:27. > :03:30.with that straight away. The unanimous vote surprised even the

:03:31. > :03:34.man, whose damning report highlighted the need for massive

:03:35. > :03:39.reform. 100% vote is extraordinary. I thought the vote would be closer

:03:40. > :03:44.than this. It's a message to the board and to the management that

:03:45. > :03:50.they should come together rapidly with a set of proposals. But what

:03:51. > :03:56.exactly has been agreed? There'll be new directors with more cooperate

:03:57. > :04:01.experience. Members will have powers to hold the board to account.

:04:02. > :04:04.They'll get a vote each e, rather than electing officials to vote on

:04:05. > :04:08.their behalf. What difference will that have on the day-to-day

:04:09. > :04:12.business? One of the biggest independent cooperatives says the

:04:13. > :04:15.challenge is rebuilding trust amongst members. They have got to be

:04:16. > :04:19.sure it's an organisation which reflects their values, which they're

:04:20. > :04:28.proud of. I'm confident in a few months' time that feeling will

:04:29. > :04:36.re-e-Americaning. -- re-emerge. The vote is significant it isn't

:04:37. > :04:40.binding. There is likely to be job cuts, store closures and difficult

:04:41. > :04:45.decisions about the Co-op's founding values. Winning support for those

:04:46. > :04:49.could be more difficult Jubilant crowds have greeted India's

:04:50. > :04:55.new Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, after a crushing victory by his

:04:56. > :05:01.party, the BJP. Thousands of people, waving flags and chanting slogans

:05:02. > :05:06.lined the streets of Delhi. Later he greeted supporters in the holy city

:05:07. > :05:11.and offered prayers on the banks of the river Ganges.

:05:12. > :05:15.Turkey this afternoon ended its rescue mission in the nation's worst

:05:16. > :05:20.mining disaster. The bodies of two more miners were recovered from the

:05:21. > :05:25.Soma mine, bringing the death toll to 301. 485 miners escaped or were

:05:26. > :05:29.rescued from the fire that devastated the mine in Soma in

:05:30. > :05:33.western Turkey. The chief executive of the Premier

:05:34. > :05:38.League, Richard Scudamore, is facing further calls to resign following

:05:39. > :05:42.sexist comments he made in a series of leaked, private e-mails. Heather

:05:43. > :05:45.Rabbatts, the Football Association's independent board member, says

:05:46. > :05:49.there's growing evidence of a closed culture of sexism and that there

:05:50. > :05:54.needs to be a review of how the Premier League is governed.

:05:55. > :05:57.Scientists in Argentina have discovered bones they believe could

:05:58. > :06:01.have belonged to the largest dinosaurs ever to have walked the

:06:02. > :06:10.earth. The creatures are thought to have had long necks and tails and

:06:11. > :06:14.have weighed around 77 tons. In the plains of Patagonia,

:06:15. > :06:19.Argentinian researchers made the biggest discovery of their lives,

:06:20. > :06:28.quite literally. Some of the largest dinosaur bones ever discovered. Here

:06:29. > :06:34.we have the femur, it's the largest bone from the hip to the knee. The

:06:35. > :06:38.bones are incredibly well preserved. The little bumps on the surface are

:06:39. > :06:42.what's left of the animal's ligaments and muscles. These

:06:43. > :06:47.creatures are thought to have been the biggest ever to have walked the

:06:48. > :06:53.earth. They're believed to have reached six metres in height. At 40

:06:54. > :07:00.metres in length. They weighed 77 tons, that's about the same as ten

:07:01. > :07:05.fully grown elephants. A BBC natural history unit team obtained this

:07:06. > :07:10.exclusive footage just as the bones were unearthed. Those bones are the

:07:11. > :07:16.ones that are supporting all the body weight. We need to get accurate

:07:17. > :07:23.estimates and measurements of these bones in order to estimate how heavy

:07:24. > :07:29.this animal was. Researchers calculated the size of the dinosaurs

:07:30. > :07:35.by measuring the circumference of the bones. 79. Wow. These animals

:07:36. > :07:42.were the largest of a group called tie tan sores. Titansaurs. They

:07:43. > :07:47.lived 100 million years ago, when giant creatures walked the earth.

:07:48. > :07:53.The FA Cup Final is still under way at Wembley with Arsenal in a fierce

:07:54. > :07:59.battle with Hull City. The score is currently 2-2.

:08:00. > :08:03.They say it's never as good as the first time. For Hull City fans,

:08:04. > :08:07.their first major final gave them plenty of reasons to sing. Inside,

:08:08. > :08:14.nerves were etched on Steve Bruce's face as he led his Tigers into the

:08:15. > :08:18.lions den. Every underdog has their day. Hull's started as lightning

:08:19. > :08:23.speed. A goal straight off the training ground as James chesters'

:08:24. > :08:31.flick gave Hull City a fairy-tale start. Bruce almost couldn't believe

:08:32. > :08:36.it. Arsene Wenger kitto. Arsenal -- ditto. Redenneder Curtis Davies has

:08:37. > :08:43.had a brilliant season and it's t was about to get better. The ecstasy

:08:44. > :08:49.and the agony of football. 2-0 to the Tigers and Hull's plan was

:08:50. > :08:53.working beautifully until Santi Cozorla got this free kick. The

:08:54. > :08:59.clock was ticking down for Arsenal, but with 20 minutes left, they

:09:00. > :09:05.scored again. Arsenal recovering from a nightmare start, 2-2. The

:09:06. > :09:09.game has just finished and it's going to extra time, after Arsenal

:09:10. > :09:13.fought back brilliantly after conceding the fastest pair of goals

:09:14. > :09:17.in a Cup Final for over 100 years. They had the chance to win it too in

:09:18. > :09:22.the last five minutes. Hull just clung on and this brilliant final,

:09:23. > :09:29.well, it's going the distance. Nail-biting stuff. Thanks very much.

:09:30. > :09:32.Earlier, St Johnstone won the Scottish Cup for the first time in

:09:33. > :09:38.their history by beating Dundee United 2-0 at Celtic Park. This

:09:39. > :09:44.report contains flash photography Celtic Park, the venue. But this was

:09:45. > :09:49.very much a tussle. A first Scottish Cup final for St Johnstone. United

:09:50. > :09:56.fans came expecting a celebration. But at the end of a first-half full

:09:57. > :10:03.of chances, Steven Anderson took his and sent the Saints wild. United

:10:04. > :10:10.came out to level. It looked like two for St Johnstone shortly after,

:10:11. > :10:14.but Stevie May's Maradonna impression was spotted. But then the

:10:15. > :10:16.goal that would make history. Steven MacLean the man to double the lead

:10:17. > :10:28.and kickstart a Perthshire party. That's it for now. We're back with

:10:29. > :10:29.the late news at 10. 15pm. Now it's time for the news where you
