:00:00. > :00:10.One person has been arrested after a gun attack at the Jewish museum in

:00:11. > :00:13.Brussels, in which three people died. Belgium has now raised its

:00:14. > :00:18.terror alert level and increased protection at Jewish buildings and

:00:19. > :00:21.the Israeli Embassy. The search for four Britons missing

:00:22. > :00:27.in the North Atlantic has been called off, after a life raft was

:00:28. > :00:29.found onboard their capsized yacht. Police are investigating whether a

:00:30. > :00:36.suspected gunman in California who killed six people wanted revenge

:00:37. > :00:39.after repeated rejections by women. And, it's a victorious end to an

:00:40. > :00:42.illustrious career, as Jonny Wilkinson in his final match on

:00:43. > :01:02.British soil, helps Toulon beat Saracens in the Heineken Cup final.

:01:03. > :01:09.Good evening. Three people have been killed and one seriously injured in

:01:10. > :01:13.a shooting at the Jewish Museum in Brussels. Belgium's Prime Minister

:01:14. > :01:17.has expressed his condolences, while the Foreign Minister was one of the

:01:18. > :01:22.first people to arrive at the scene after hearing what he called bursts

:01:23. > :01:25.of gunfire. The motive for the attack is unclear, though the Mayor

:01:26. > :01:29.of Brussels says the shooting is being considered an act of

:01:30. > :01:36.terrorism. One person has been arrested. The museum is in the

:01:37. > :01:40.central Sablon district of the city, not far from the main square. Our

:01:41. > :01:46.correspondent Duncan Crawford is at the scene.

:01:47. > :01:50.The whole area around the museum remains cordoned off tonight. The

:01:51. > :01:55.Government has raised the terror level to its highest and many are in

:01:56. > :01:58.shock. The police have arrested one suspect but they're searching for a

:01:59. > :02:05.second who is on the run and could very well be the gunman.

:02:06. > :02:11.The brutality of the attack has shocked the authorities. It was just

:02:12. > :02:15.before 4.00pm local time in the upmarket Sablon area when a car

:02:16. > :02:19.pulled up outside the Jewish Museum. It's understood an armed man got

:02:20. > :02:24.out, entered the museum and opened fire. I went to the museum to see

:02:25. > :02:31.the situation and I have seen two people on the ground in the entrance

:02:32. > :02:35.of the museum and I phoned to see if it's possible to receive medical

:02:36. > :02:37.care and the police. Police say the victims were hit in the head and

:02:38. > :02:42.neck. Two women and a man were killed. A fourth person is critical

:02:43. > :02:47.in hospital. The gunman fled the museum, possibly on foot or with the

:02:48. > :02:57.help of a getaway driver. This was a brazen attack in broad daylight in

:02:58. > :03:00.one of the fancy fanciest areas of Brussels. The museum remains

:03:01. > :03:05.cordoned off by police who say they don't have a motive at this stage

:03:06. > :03:09.but clearly they're concerned this was some kind of anti-Semitic

:03:10. > :03:13.attack. Tonight police say a person seen driving away from the scene has

:03:14. > :03:16.been arrested but officers haven't established whether they're involved

:03:17. > :03:22.in the shooting or not. The local mayor says the incident could be an

:03:23. > :03:30.act of terrorism. The Prime Minister said the Government was shocked.

:03:31. > :03:39.TRANSLATION: We strongly condemn these serious acts of violence. We

:03:40. > :03:45.extend our deepest sympathies to the victims and to their families. The

:03:46. > :03:49.attack comes a day before national and European elections are held in

:03:50. > :03:55.Belgium. Security has been tightened at Jewish sites across the country

:03:56. > :03:59.and police are scouring CCTV footage at the museum in the hope of finding

:04:00. > :04:08.vital clues which might identify the killer.

:04:09. > :04:11.Hopes of finding the four British sailors missing in the North

:04:12. > :04:14.Atlantic have all but gone after a life raft was found on board their

:04:15. > :04:18.capsized vessel. The search for the men has now been called off, a week

:04:19. > :04:21.after contact with their yacht the Cheeky Rafiki was lost. David

:04:22. > :04:25.Cameron says his thoughts are with the families and friends of the

:04:26. > :04:29.crew. Here's Duncan Kennedy. These are the coastguard photos that

:04:30. > :04:35.ended all hope of finding the four men alive. This one shows the keel

:04:36. > :04:41.sheared off, making stability all but impossible. The boat's liferaft

:04:42. > :04:47.was still inside, ending any chance of survival. The search for Andrew

:04:48. > :04:52.Bridge, James Male, Paul Goslin and Steve Warren had lasted on and off

:04:53. > :04:57.for a week. The Cheeki Rafiki had been returning from Antigue. In a

:04:58. > :05:01.statement Andrew bridge's family said: We are obviously shocked and

:05:02. > :05:05.deeply saddened by the news. Andrew will be dearly missed by

:05:06. > :05:09.everyone who knew him. Tonight, this video of him doing what he loved

:05:10. > :05:16.most was released. He is in the middle with his lifelong friend Adam

:05:17. > :05:21.in front. I feel like I have lost a part of my life almost. He has been

:05:22. > :05:27.an amazing friend to me for years and years. Very, very sad to see

:05:28. > :05:31.that he's gone. In Somerset, home to Paul Goslin and Steve Warren, local

:05:32. > :05:37.communities have been united in their sadness. Now we simply want to

:05:38. > :05:40.offer our thoughts and prayers for the families of the lost yachtsmen

:05:41. > :05:43.as they begin to come to terms with the news that they've heard today.

:05:44. > :05:47.This is where it all went wrong... It's not clear if the boat can be

:05:48. > :05:55.salvaged but experts already believe the keel damage is vital. The keel

:05:56. > :05:59.would have failed, would have dropped off and the boat would have

:06:00. > :06:03.capsized within seconds. There would have been no time to respond to

:06:04. > :06:07.that. The four men should have returned here this weekend. But a

:06:08. > :06:12.voyage of triumph has turned into a journey of sadness. The combined

:06:13. > :06:16.efforts of the US coastguard, a quarter of a million people online,

:06:17. > :06:19.and the men's families couldn't bring about the result they had all

:06:20. > :06:23.hoped for. What had been an adventure has been

:06:24. > :06:32.consumed by the unforgiving realities of the high seas.

:06:33. > :06:34.Russia's President, Vladimir Putin, has described Prince's Charles'

:06:35. > :06:40.reported comparison of him with Adolf Hitler, as unacceptable and

:06:41. > :06:44.not Royal behaviour. The Prince is alleged to have made the remark in a

:06:45. > :06:48.private conversation during a visit to Canada. Clarence House has

:06:49. > :06:52.declined to comment on Mr Putin's response. The Russian leader was

:06:53. > :06:56.speaking during a press conference in St Petersburg.

:06:57. > :07:01.TRANSLATION: He has been to our country many times. I didn't hear

:07:02. > :07:05.that expression. If it's so, it is of course unacceptable. I think that

:07:06. > :07:09.he understands that himself. He is a well brought up person. I have met

:07:10. > :07:17.him and other members of the Royal Family. It's not Royal behaviour.

:07:18. > :07:21.The son of a Hollywood film director has been identified as the likely

:07:22. > :07:24.gunman who killed six people in a series of drive-by shootings in the

:07:25. > :07:28.US city of Santa Barbara. A lawyer for Peter Rodger said his son Elliot

:07:29. > :07:33.was responsible for last night's murders. Earlier, the 22-year-old

:07:34. > :07:36.had posted a video online complaining of years of rejection by

:07:37. > :07:39.women and threatening to take revenge. Alastair Leithead reports

:07:40. > :07:43.from Los Angeles. The aftermath of a mass shooting at

:07:44. > :07:48.a beachside college town in Santa Barbara. It was a drive-by attack,

:07:49. > :07:53.six people killed, seven others injured. This was the killer's car.

:07:54. > :07:59.He crashed after exchanging fire with armed police and was shot in

:08:00. > :08:05.the head. Elliot Rodger was 22. He is pictured here posing on Facebook

:08:06. > :08:11.with the same BMW. Hours before the attack he posted a chilling video on

:08:12. > :08:17.YouTube. Tomorrow is the day of retribution. The day in which I will

:08:18. > :08:21.have my revenge. A lack of success with women was apparently his

:08:22. > :08:27.motive. He wanted retribution as he put it. I will take to the streets

:08:28. > :08:31.of Isla Vista and slay every single person I see there. The killer's

:08:32. > :08:36.father is a British film-maker, Peter Rodger, shown here with his

:08:37. > :08:43.wife who is an actress and Elliot at a prep year of the first Hunger

:08:44. > :08:46.Games film. The family's lawyer said Elliot had a history of mental

:08:47. > :08:54.illness and the police had been warned. He had multiple therapists.

:08:55. > :08:58.He had a social work worker who as recently as last week was concerned.

:08:59. > :09:03.He was the one that called the police. The attack happened at 9.

:09:04. > :09:07.30pm on a busy Friday evening close to the University of California

:09:08. > :09:15.Santa Barbara campus. It sparked panic. I just thought it was like -

:09:16. > :09:22.I was like hey, and I turned around and started walking the other way.

:09:23. > :09:26.Shootings in America are alarmingly frequent. Often they involve

:09:27. > :09:35.disillusioned or mentally ill young men in a country where there is easy

:09:36. > :09:37.access to guns. George Osborne has told

:09:38. > :09:40.Conservatives not to dismiss or belittle UKIP supporters, after the

:09:41. > :09:43.party's success in the local elections. The Chancellor promised

:09:44. > :09:45.to respond to what he called their legitimate concerns about

:09:46. > :09:48.immigration and Europe. But tonight a new poll suggested the Tories were

:09:49. > :09:54.falling behind Labour in key marginal seats. Here's our deputy

:09:55. > :09:57.political editor James Landale. For team UKIP there was much to

:09:58. > :10:01.smile about in the local elections but for the larger parties it meant

:10:02. > :10:07.one thing, a political headache that's not getting any better. Today

:10:08. > :10:12.some Tories gathered in London to rue their losses and chart a way

:10:13. > :10:17.forward. For all these Conservatives there is really only one question -

:10:18. > :10:22.how do they regain trust of people who voted UKIP? Right now they're

:10:23. > :10:26.scratching around for answers. One man who thinks he has an answer is

:10:27. > :10:30.the Chancellor. He said there would be no pact with UKIP but nor would

:10:31. > :10:36.there be any more abuse at people who he claimed shared Tory values.

:10:37. > :10:40.The modern Conservative Party will never dismiss or belittle the views

:10:41. > :10:45.of people we aspire to represent. We should show the highest respect for

:10:46. > :10:49.those who go out and cast their vote and respect too for those who cast

:10:50. > :10:55.their vote for another party. And that includes those who voted for

:10:56. > :11:00.UKIP on Thursday. As if to show the scale of the Tory challenge, a new

:11:01. > :11:04.opinion poll of thousands of voters suggested the Conservatives are 12

:11:05. > :11:07.points behind Labour in key marginal constituencies. The Tory peer who

:11:08. > :11:12.carried out the poll said it showed his party needed a new approach to

:11:13. > :11:16.UKIP. Any complacency or arrogance on the part of the established

:11:17. > :11:19.parties is not one they should practise and to an extent it's

:11:20. > :11:23.complacency and arrogance in how they've dealt with UKIP that's got

:11:24. > :11:28.them in the position they are at the moment. Labour's been cheered by its

:11:29. > :11:32.gains at the ballot box and today's new poll. But some MPs think the

:11:33. > :11:38.party should do more to tackle UKIP after it cost them votes on

:11:39. > :11:41.Thursday. One frontbencher said Ed Miliband was not to blame. We

:11:42. > :11:46.believe our leader is more than a pretty face. Our lead leader - it

:11:47. > :11:51.was him that decided to take on the big six energy companies and the

:11:52. > :11:56.banks. And it is here in Essex where Nigel Farage held his victory parade

:11:57. > :11:59.that MrMiliband will come next week to try to show he and his party are

:12:00. > :12:07.listening to former Labour voters who have turned to UKIP.

:12:08. > :12:10.Meanwhile, following disappointing results for the Liberal Democrats in

:12:11. > :12:12.the local elections two of the party's prospective parliamentary

:12:13. > :12:16.candidates have called for Nick Clegg to stand down as leader. The

:12:17. > :12:19.BBC has learned that Jackie Porter, the candidate in Winchester and Ros

:12:20. > :12:24.Kayes, the candidate in West Dorset, both think the party should pick a

:12:25. > :12:28.new leader this summer. Party spokesman said the message should

:12:29. > :12:39.not be distorted by needless in-fighting. Now all the sport.

:12:40. > :12:42.Thank you very much. Jonny Wilkinson's final game in

:12:43. > :12:46.Britain before retiring from Rugby Union has ended with him lifting the

:12:47. > :12:49.Heineken Cup. The England World Cup winner inspired French side Toulon

:12:50. > :12:52.to a 23-6 victory over Saracens at the Millenium stadium. Joe Wilson

:12:53. > :12:56.reports from Cardiff. Travellers from Toulon were not dancing for

:12:57. > :13:01.rain. This was an expression of appreciation, even before kick-off

:13:02. > :13:05.they were saying merci to Jonny Wilkinson, the conductor of their

:13:06. > :13:10.orchestra. Roof closed inside but keep your eyes open, where is your

:13:11. > :13:13.opponent? For half an hour they ran into each other. Often on the

:13:14. > :13:18.fringes of the rules. Keeping a cool head required exceptional calm.

:13:19. > :13:30.Watch as Jonny Wilkinson switched play with this pass. It was kicked

:13:31. > :13:33.to space. In an instant sash Ahsan -- Saracens were undone. Here is a

:13:34. > :13:40.routine you might have seen before. Jonny Wilkinson switching to his

:13:41. > :13:52.weak right foot. Drop goal. 10-3. The second try was made by the

:13:53. > :13:56.French. Even from there you wouldn't expect Wilkinson to miss the

:13:57. > :14:00.conversion, would you? 23-6 at full-time. I do a job that is my

:14:01. > :14:07.passion, my love and I am paid well to do it. Who could be luckier than

:14:08. > :14:12.me and guys go out of the way to cheer for you, it's humbling. Toulon

:14:13. > :14:22.still have the French championship to try to win next weekend. On the

:14:23. > :14:30.brink of retirement he remains rugby's version of perfection.

:14:31. > :14:33.Queens Park Rangers are back in the Premier League after beating Derby

:14:34. > :14:36.County 1-0 in the Championship play-off final. The most lucrative

:14:37. > :14:39.game in world football was settled by Bobby Zamora, who scored the

:14:40. > :14:43.winner in the 90th minute. Tim Hague reports. Harry Redknapp versus Steve

:14:44. > :14:48.McLaren, Premier League football the prize, and not a brolly in sight.

:14:49. > :14:52.Who could forget McLaren's last match at Wembley as England manager.

:14:53. > :14:57.Now leading Derby and his side had the better opening of a nervy first

:14:58. > :15:02.45. The second half brought a change in weather and in QPR's attacking

:15:03. > :15:07.threat as Charlie Austin should have scored. But then a game in the

:15:08. > :15:13.balance quickly became lop-sided. O'Neill's cynical foul saw him

:15:14. > :15:16.red-carded. And it meant a Rangers rear-guard action for the final 30

:15:17. > :15:22.minutes. Green saving them several times. It was beginning to feel like

:15:23. > :15:26.it wasn't to be Derby's day. So it cruelly proved in the 90th minute. A

:15:27. > :15:33.rare QPR attack, a mistake in defence, and Bobby Zamora brought

:15:34. > :15:38.joy and despair in the swing of his boot. Harry Houdini does it again

:15:39. > :15:49.then. QPR return to the Premier League and are ?80 million better

:15:50. > :15:51.off. And there's been plenty of drama in

:15:52. > :15:57.tonight's Champions League final between Real Madrid and city rivals

:15:58. > :16:01.Atletico Madrid. Real sent the match into extra time and Gareth Bale

:16:02. > :16:05.fired his side into the lead. They went on to win four-win and lift the

:16:06. > :16:10.Cup for a 10th time. Quite a match. That's all the sport.

:16:11. > :16:12.That's it from us. You can see more on all of today's stories on the BBC

:16:13. > :16:29.news channel. Have a good night. Today wasn't a complete washout

:16:30. > :16:33.across the country but there were plenty of showers and the Heavens

:16:34. > :16:36.did open for some of us, particularly in the morning across

:16:37. > :16:40.the south of the UK. As far as the rest of the bank holiday weekend is

:16:41. > :16:45.concerned, lots of showers, sunshine too and where the sun pops out it's

:16:46. > :16:48.going to feel warm. After all, June's around the corner. This is

:16:49. > :16:49.the cloud which brought lots
