:00:31. > :00:34.The plane, which was carrying troops and equipment,
:00:35. > :00:39.was about to land at Luhansk airport in the east of the country.
:00:40. > :00:42.It is thought to be the biggest loss of life suffered
:00:43. > :00:44.by government forces in a single incident since Kiev
:00:45. > :00:47.began an operation to try to defeat the insurgency in east Ukraine.
:00:48. > :00:54.This may be the moment when the missile struck. We have highlighted
:00:55. > :00:58.what is believed to be the burning Ukrainian military transport plane
:00:59. > :01:06.and it is just possible to see the missile continue its path. The plane
:01:07. > :01:10.was coming into land at Luhansk airport, and soon after it crashed,
:01:11. > :01:16.killing all 49 on board. This is the biggest loss of life yet suffered by
:01:17. > :01:19.Ukrainian forces as they try to push separatists out of their
:01:20. > :01:25.strongholds. Fighting is still going on around the airport. The plane was
:01:26. > :01:30.similar to this one, a Russian built freight aircraft. It is not the
:01:31. > :01:35.first time the rebels have used anti-aircraft weapons. At the end of

:01:56. > :02:01.This unverified footage shows Russian tanks driven by rebels on

:02:22. > :02:30.military vehicles crossed from Russia into Ukraine near the border.
:02:31. > :02:35.This is unacceptable. The battle for Marion Portal is not over. Three
:02:36. > :02:40.border guards have been reported to have been killed in shellfire. The
:02:41. > :02:44.escalation of fighting divides an unpromising backdrop to talks
:02:45. > :02:45.between Moscow and Kiev aimed at averting a cut in Russian gas

:02:59. > :03:04.to provide ?3 million worth of emergency aid to help civilians
:03:05. > :03:07.fleeing the fighting. Fighters
:03:08. > :03:09.from the ISIS group have seized the cities of Mosul and Tikrit
:03:10. > :03:13.and are moving closer to Baghdad. Our correspondent Paul Wood is
:03:14. > :03:30.in Irbil. Paul, the mention of UK aid there.
:03:31. > :03:35.While everybody debates how to deal with this advance, how much is the
:03:36. > :03:38.aid needed? Something like half a million people have fled Mosul
:03:39. > :03:44.according to the aid agencies, most of them to Kurdish territory. The
:03:45. > :03:48.aid is certainly needed. I have seen a trickle of people going back to
:03:49. > :03:51.Mosul, people who do not have any connection with the security forces
:03:52. > :03:56.and are happy with the idea of rule by ISIS. That is a prospect that
:03:57. > :04:02.terrifies many Iraqis and the government is marshalling its
:04:03. > :04:08.defences around Baghdad, with the prominence of assistance from the
:04:09. > :04:15.Iranians. Nouri al-Maliki visited the border towns today, saying that
:04:16. > :04:19.this is where the fightback begins. We spoke to a Sunni militia leader
:04:20. > :04:24.who has lost many members of his family to ISIS, but he said that
:04:25. > :04:29.without your support, he did not know how long they would hold out.
:04:30. > :04:33.We have also had a visit from the UN special envoy here. He called for a
:04:34. > :04:36.political solution and that, I think, is a reference to a
:04:37. > :04:42.broad-based government. The Iraqi government has been accused of
:04:43. > :04:46.having sectarian issues by the Sunnis. But I think any political
:04:47. > :04:49.solution will not include ISIS. They will fight on and there is no
:04:50. > :04:55.scenario here that does not end without more bloodshed.
:04:56. > :04:56.The Chief Inspector of Prisons, Nick Hardwick,
:04:57. > :04:59.has accused ministers of "political and policy failure", and warned that
:05:00. > :05:02.jails in England and Wales are so overcrowded that there is a risk
:05:03. > :05:06.The criticisms have been rejected by the Justice Secretary,
:05:07. > :05:08.Chris Grayling, who said by next April there would
:05:09. > :05:19.England will play the first match of their world cup campaign
:05:20. > :05:22.They'll face Italy who've won the tournament four times.
:05:23. > :05:26.The heat and humidity at the stadium in the amazon region of
:05:27. > :05:28.Manaus will offer an extra challenge for England's footballers.
:05:29. > :05:35.Our Brazil correspondent, Wyre Davies has more.
:05:36. > :05:40.A different view, a different time zone, and a very different climate
:05:41. > :05:46.from England's Rio case four hours away. -- base. The British were
:05:47. > :05:52.instrumental in building this remote city on the Amazon. While locals
:05:53. > :05:59.want only one team to lift the World Cup, this encounter is one of the
:06:00. > :06:04.most anticipated matches. Roy Hodgson's England squad arrived in
:06:05. > :06:08.Manaus a day early to acclimatise but does the coach think that the
:06:09. > :06:13.heat and unity will dictate the kind of game that we see? We have been
:06:14. > :06:18.training in heat and humidity and we look very fit as a result. As far as
:06:19. > :06:24.I'm concerned, the only matter to deal with is the quality of the
:06:25. > :06:28.Italian team and to make certain that we can not only match their
:06:29. > :06:33.quality but better it. Impressive but extravagant. How would the
:06:34. > :06:38.Manaus Stadium will be used after the cup is a big question. In a
:06:39. > :06:44.region with no big club sides to fill the 44,000 seats. Officials
:06:45. > :06:48.here reject those accusations that the stadium is a white elephant,
:06:49. > :06:52.saying they have been here before. 100 years ago, a height of the
:06:53. > :06:55.rubber boom, they build this opera house, considered at the time of
:06:56. > :07:05.huge waste of money. It is now regarded as one of the jewels in

:07:10. > :07:13.England fans took over the city's watering holes. In good voice and
:07:14. > :07:18.happy to be in one of world football's most remote locations.
:07:19. > :07:24.Manaus is making more of celebrating the World Cup than some bigger
:07:25. > :07:25.cities in the south. Can England and Italy now deliver a game to match
:07:26. > :07:30.the atmosphere? Our sports correspondent
:07:31. > :07:32.Nathalie Pirks is in Manaus. Natalie, how do England rate
:07:33. > :07:43.their chances tonight? Well, I think they are not as
:07:44. > :07:48.Brazil's manager was before the game when he said that the World Cup was
:07:49. > :07:51.theirs, but they have certainly been displaying confidence. In the press
:07:52. > :07:55.conferences leading up to this moment, the players have been saying
:07:56. > :08:00.that they do not fear Italy. In fact, they say, Italy should be
:08:01. > :08:02.fearing them. I do not think the press conference was any different.
:08:03. > :08:13.Italy are world champions four times. They were runners up in the
:08:14. > :08:18.Euros two years ago. One of the chief tormentors said that they want
:08:19. > :08:21.to go on and win this thing. Of course, they are a formidable
:08:22. > :08:24.opponent. England are very confident and it feels like we have been
:08:25. > :08:31.building up to this game for a long time, and now the moment is finally
:08:32. > :08:33.here. Natalie, thank you. Apologies for the break-up on the picture.
