:00:18. > :00:22.There's uncertainty over whether a ceasefire between government

:00:23. > :00:26.forces and pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine is holding.

:00:27. > :00:28.Both sides have made unconfirmed claims that the deal -

:00:29. > :00:47.agreed yesterday to halt five months of fighting - has been breached

:00:48. > :00:49.The EU has agreed further sanctions against Russia, but said they could

:00:50. > :00:52.be avoided if the ceasefire is observed and Russia withdraws any

:00:53. > :00:54.From Donetsk, Richard Galpin reports.

:00:55. > :01:02.Donetsk is a much calmer city than 24-hour 's ago, the heavily

:01:03. > :01:06.artillery fire no longer echoing through the streets, this is what it

:01:07. > :01:11.had been like when just two days ago we witnessed the aftermath of heavy

:01:12. > :01:16.shelling on a residential area of the city. Five people reportedly

:01:17. > :01:21.killed. Today we drove out to the western side of the city. Here, much

:01:22. > :01:27.evidence of the battles of recent weeks. Just a few hundred meters

:01:28. > :01:31.down the road, Donetsk airport, this has been the scene of the most

:01:32. > :01:36.fierce fighting between Ukrainian troops and rebels in the city. Since

:01:37. > :01:41.we have been here, we have heard a couple of explosions and some

:01:42. > :01:47.gunshots. But it seems overall the cease-fire is holding here.

:01:48. > :01:51.TRANSLATION I have not heard anything, people in

:01:52. > :01:57.the bus I took today also said they did not hear anything, they stopped

:01:58. > :02:01.firing here around 5pm yesterday. Both sides already accuse each other

:02:02. > :02:09.of violating the cease-fire. Today a spokesman 's for the Ukrainian

:02:10. > :02:14.military said troops came under fire 28 times since yesterday evening.

:02:15. > :02:19.The rebel leaders believe they are the ones under attack, but they

:02:20. > :02:25.openly said their goal remains the creation of an independent state

:02:26. > :02:29.here. TRANSLATION Of course I will be glad if missile

:02:30. > :02:33.stopped exploding here but I will be more satisfied when the rebel army

:02:34. > :02:39.reaches the board of Romania. Then there will be an independent state

:02:40. > :02:45.called the new Russia. Ash macro the board of mania.

:02:46. > :02:49.Across the region it seems the cease-fire is holding the now

:02:50. > :02:53.although it is still a very fragile peace.

:02:54. > :02:55.The clinic in the Czech Republic which is prepared to treat

:02:56. > :02:58.a five year old boy with brain cancer says doctors will decide

:02:59. > :03:01.on Monday whether he's well enough to travel to Prague for treatment.

:03:02. > :03:04.Last night, a High Court judge ruled that Ashya King's family could take

:03:05. > :03:10.him to a clinic in Prague to receive proton beam therapy.

:03:11. > :03:15.Nick Beake is in Malaga, where Ashya and his family are.

:03:16. > :03:24.What is the latest? Well, this morning Ashya's family have been

:03:25. > :03:28.meeting with doctors and health officials, trying to finalise a plan

:03:29. > :03:32.which would see him discharged from hospital. A place where he's been

:03:33. > :03:36.treated this week. In the last ten minutes or so the lawyer for the

:03:37. > :03:43.family has arrived and he's been bringing is up-to-date with how the

:03:44. > :03:46.family are faring and how is doing. He is in perfect conditions to

:03:47. > :03:54.travel at the moment, he's playing with toys, with his parents. With

:03:55. > :04:00.his brother. And we are preparing the last documentation to travel.

:04:01. > :04:04.Well, the lawyer said Ashya's parents for their part, they were

:04:05. > :04:09.extremely grateful to the High Court judge in London, who said yes, now

:04:10. > :04:13.the family control to Prague for the proton beam treatment that they

:04:14. > :04:17.wanted. Remember it was nine days ago they decided to take him away

:04:18. > :04:22.without the consent of the doctors in Southampton, where he was

:04:23. > :04:25.treated. It's set in chain a series of events nobody could have

:04:26. > :04:30.predicted. It led to them being arrested here in Spain, detained for

:04:31. > :04:34.some time in a Spanish jail and separated for some time from their

:04:35. > :04:38.son. The latest though, is that Ashya is welcome in terms of when he

:04:39. > :04:43.could travel to the Czech Republic, the lawyer says this will happen

:04:44. > :04:46.either tomorrow or Monday -- that he is well.

:04:47. > :04:48.A man's appeared in court accused of murdering an elderly widow

:04:49. > :04:52.82 year old Palmira Silva was attacked in her garden on Thursday

:04:53. > :04:54.Nicholas Salvador, who's also been charged with

:04:55. > :04:59.attacking a police officer, has been remanded in custody.

:05:00. > :05:01.The government in Sierra Leone is preparing to impose

:05:02. > :05:05.a three day nationwide 'lockdown' - later this month - to try to halt

:05:06. > :05:11.The West African nation is one of the countries worst hit

:05:12. > :05:13.by the deadly disease which has claimed more than 2,000 lives.

:05:14. > :05:29.The fight to contain the deadly Ebola virus is on the move. This

:05:30. > :05:34.research team from South Africa has established a mobile laboratory in

:05:35. > :05:38.Sierra Leone's capital Freetown that health experts hope will drastically

:05:39. > :05:42.reduce the time taken to diagnose the disease. A matter of hours

:05:43. > :05:45.instead of days. It comes as the country announces a locked down to

:05:46. > :05:53.try to keep any spread to the minimum possible. Unfortunately

:05:54. > :05:58.there is no evidence yet that we control the outbreak, it is becoming

:05:59. > :06:03.even worse. With health workers in need of urgent supplies as they try

:06:04. > :06:07.to identify and isolate new cases of the Ebola virus across West Africa,

:06:08. > :06:15.the UN issued a rescue call and an appeal the $600 million. We have

:06:16. > :06:20.seen courageous and sponsors of health personnel, we are determined

:06:21. > :06:25.to show solidarity with them, and scalable efforts to tackle the

:06:26. > :06:29.epidemic. This is a huge and serious challenge and we are organising to

:06:30. > :06:35.meet it, and I am convinced we can succeed. In Sierra Leone, as in

:06:36. > :06:39.neighbouring countries, contain and control is the immediate strategy.

:06:40. > :06:43.Teams of volunteers will be deployed to make sure residents stay indoors

:06:44. > :06:48.for three days, but the lockdown is not due for nearly two weeks. With

:06:49. > :06:49.the virus spreading, it could be months before the epidemic is

:06:50. > :06:53.brought under control. You can see more on all of today's

:06:54. > :06:57.stories on the BBC News Channel. The next news on BBC One is

:06:58. > :07:14.at 5.40 - bye for now. Quite a lot of cloud has built up

:07:15. > :07:19.across the British Isles at the moment, it is not dry everywhere,

:07:20. > :07:21.this weather front is bringing rain across northern England and Wales.
