:00:18. > :00:23.A row over the intervention of business leaders and banks in the

:00:24. > :00:26.Scottish independence debate has intensified on the final weekend of

:00:27. > :00:28.campaigning. Deutsche Bank says voters and politicians have failed

:00:29. > :00:31.to grasp the negative consequences of independence. Scotland's First

:00:32. > :00:35.Minister, Alex Salmond, said the Scots would not be bullied by

:00:36. > :00:37.businesses or by the Westminster Government.

:00:38. > :00:56.This is the busiest day of political campaigning Scotland has ever seen.

:00:57. > :01:00.The campaign for a Yes vote says 35,000 volunteers are on the streets

:01:01. > :01:04.up and down the country, advancing their arguments trying to win every

:01:05. > :01:09.crucial vote. I think there is so much energy around the Yes Campaign

:01:10. > :01:12.now. We're going to have a fantastic weekend. People are campaigning all

:01:13. > :01:16.around Scotland and that's going to carry on. We're confident about

:01:17. > :01:21.where we are in the polls, but what we are hearing and seeing around

:01:22. > :01:26.Scotland tells us the momentum is with yes. The campaign to keep

:01:27. > :01:29.Scotland in the UK and they have 1,000 street stalls around the

:01:30. > :01:33.country and it feels like everyone in Scottish politics is involved. If

:01:34. > :01:36.you look at the plans of what's on offer in the referendum, more powers

:01:37. > :01:40.for the Scottish Parliament, real change coming with the Labour

:01:41. > :01:44.Government, compare that to the risk and uncertainty, the threat to jobs,

:01:45. > :01:47.the threat to living standards. I think Labour voters understand that

:01:48. > :01:50.their future lies best in a No vote and in a Labour Government coming

:01:51. > :01:53.in. Suddenly, it seems, everyone is

:01:54. > :01:57.interested in Scotland. Today, Deutsche Bank warned that a Yes vote

:01:58. > :02:00.would be as bad for the economy as the blunders which led the world

:02:01. > :02:07.into the great depression between the wars.

:02:08. > :02:12.If there was a Yes vote and Scotland was to become independent it would

:02:13. > :02:15.be catastrophic for Scotland. The depression would last for a number

:02:16. > :02:19.of years. Supporters of independence says Scotland would be stable after

:02:20. > :02:23.a Yes vote, not least because it would keep the pound. They say the

:02:24. > :02:28.sirens are sounding a false alarm. It is mruf and bluster. They're

:02:29. > :02:31.talking about really an economic tsunami that could affect Scotland

:02:32. > :02:35.if we vote for independence on the basis of the financial risks from

:02:36. > :02:41.the banks. This has been superseded because the banks have said they

:02:42. > :02:46.will move their offices to London. So they will have the protection

:02:47. > :02:47.from the Bank of England. The debate is getting noisier. The stakes

:02:48. > :02:55.higher. The vote ever closer. Well, the former Prime Minister,

:02:56. > :02:58.Gordon Brown, has been out campaigning this morning.

:02:59. > :03:07.Live now to Iain Watson. A busy week and no sign of any

:03:08. > :03:11.let-up? No. Gordon Brown is still speaking inside this community

:03:12. > :03:17.centre on a council estate because one poll showed that or suggested

:03:18. > :03:21.that of the people who have voted for Gordon Brown at the last general

:03:22. > :03:25.election in 2010, four out of ten in Scotland are likely to back

:03:26. > :03:30.independence. He is straoug to stem the -- trying to stem the flow of

:03:31. > :03:34.support. During the last weekend, you can see protesters outside here.

:03:35. > :03:37.The rhetoric has been ramped out. We have heard from Deutsche Bank

:03:38. > :03:40.suggesting we could get a new Wall Street crash if Scotland becomes

:03:41. > :03:44.independent. Inside there, I was listening to Gordon Brown and he

:03:45. > :03:52.said if Scotland doesn't meet its full share of the debt as Alex

:03:53. > :03:57.Salmond threatened, well it will become a financial outcast.

:03:58. > :04:01.Alex Salmond is saying he won't be bullied by big business, big oil or

:04:02. > :04:05.big Government at Westminster. If you think the rhetoric can't be

:04:06. > :04:14.ramped up any further, just wait until Thursday!

:04:15. > :04:17.The family of a British aid worker, being held hostage by Islamic State

:04:18. > :04:20.militants, have urged his captors to contact them. Earlier this month the

:04:21. > :04:22.group threatened to kill David Haines unless the United States

:04:23. > :04:25.halted air strikes against it in Iraq. Mr Haines, who's 44 and comes

:04:26. > :04:31.from Perth, was kidnapped last year while delivering aid in Syria.

:04:32. > :04:33.The Oscar nominated actress, Samantha Morton, says she was

:04:34. > :04:36.sexually abused as a child while living in care homes in Nottingham.

:04:37. > :04:39.She told the Guardian newspaper that it happened in the 1990s, when she

:04:40. > :04:42.was 13. Ms Morton, who's now 37, claims that when she reported the

:04:43. > :04:45.abuse, nothing was done. Nottinghamshire Police says it has

:04:46. > :04:53.A 15-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of starting the Manchester

:04:54. > :04:56.Dogs Home blaze which killed at least 50 animals has been released

:04:57. > :05:00.on bail. More than ?1 million has now been raised in a campaign set up

:05:01. > :05:03.within hours of the fire. The rescued dogs are being cared for in

:05:04. > :05:13.Warrington, where we can now join our correspondent, Danni Hewson.

:05:14. > :05:18.So bring us up-to-date? Well, there have been extraordinary scenes here

:05:19. > :05:24.this morning as hundreds of people have turned up wanting to donate

:05:25. > :05:31.their time to donate food or to adopt some of the dogs. ?1.2 million

:05:32. > :05:35.has been raised as the public responded to extraordinary scenes of

:05:36. > :05:42.dogs being pulled from burning buildings and many of them

:05:43. > :05:46.traumatised and 43 dogs died. Of the 150 rescued, only one is now causing

:05:47. > :05:51.concern and is under the care of the vet. Back at the scene today, about

:05:52. > :05:55.half an hour from here, investigations into the cause of the

:05:56. > :05:59.blaze are continuing. And police who were questioning a 15-year-old boy

:06:00. > :06:05.about the incident have now released him on bail. The main focus here now

:06:06. > :06:09.though is on trying to create some space on re-homing at least 50 of

:06:10. > :06:15.the dogs and they are looking for 50 people to take them on a temporary

:06:16. > :06:20.basis so it can allow them to continue with the work they normally

:06:21. > :06:27.do and to treat the traumatised dogs who need a bit of extra TLC

:06:28. > :06:33.In Southern California hundreds of firefighters are tackling a wildfire

:06:34. > :06:38.that's burning out of control. The fires are in a remote area, but

:06:39. > :06:43.officials ordered 30 people in 30 homes to evacuate.

:06:44. > :06:47.You can see more on all of today's stories on the BBC News Channel. The

:06:48. > :06:58.next news on BBC One is at 5.40pm. Bye for now.

:06:59. > :07:06.Bottom Good afternoon. If you have spent the weeking looking at the

:07:07. > :07:08.fine conditions outside, at least they
