:00:00. > :00:11.in different parts of the cabin minutes before it disappeared.

:00:12. > :00:13.Images have been released of items found during the search

:00:14. > :00:25.The search for the plane's black box is ongoing as investigators

:00:26. > :00:27.try to establish what exactly brought the plane down.

:00:28. > :00:29.Also on tonight's programme: Labour sets

:00:30. > :00:31.out its plans for the economy with a pledge to distribute

:00:32. > :00:44.And, how this stunning goal won the FA Cup for Manchester United.

:00:45. > :00:47.But winning wasn't enough to save Louis Van Gaal.

:00:48. > :01:06.He's to be replaced by Jose Mourinho.

:01:07. > :01:12.French investigators into the EgyptAir plane crash say

:01:13. > :01:14.smoke was detected in different parts of the cabin just minutes

:01:15. > :01:21.It's still not known what caused the tragedy which saw 66

:01:22. > :01:26.Today, the Egyptian military released images of items found

:01:27. > :01:28.during the search for wreckage in the Mediterranean Sea,

:01:29. > :01:31.including life vests and parts of the aircraft.

:01:32. > :01:35.This report from our transport correspondent Richard Westcott.

:01:36. > :01:37.The remains of the Egyptian flight are being picked from the sea.

:01:38. > :01:40.Laid out on the deck of a nearby ship.

:01:41. > :01:46.Foam that was once part of someone's seat.

:01:47. > :01:48.There are seat-belts and other debris, clearly carrying

:01:49. > :01:54.Here, someone's handbag and a solitary shoe.

:01:55. > :01:57.On one side, a life-vest, clearly unused.

:01:58. > :02:00.None of the 66 on board stood a chance.

:02:01. > :02:04.Yet the biggest clue so far wasn't from the sea, it's

:02:05. > :02:10.Automatic computer messages sent back to base.

:02:11. > :02:12.Simple words but they paint the picture of a catastrophic

:02:13. > :02:19.Although we can't be sure, this appears to be how the fire unfolded.

:02:20. > :02:25.Everything's happening near the cockpit.

:02:26. > :02:28.At 12.26, a warning goes off that one of the front

:02:29. > :02:37.Then in this bay right underneath the pilots.

:02:38. > :02:40.It's a critical area, full of electronic equipment.

:02:41. > :02:42.A minute after that, there is another warning.

:02:43. > :02:51.Finally, a number of computer systems collapse.

:02:52. > :02:54.Everything happens over the space of a few minutes.

:02:55. > :02:57.One of the world's leading experts on plane fires told

:02:58. > :03:01.The timeline that we are seeing so far indicates somewhere

:03:02. > :03:04.around seven minutes, which is a very long time

:03:05. > :03:09.if there is an explosive device, particularly a large one,

:03:10. > :03:14.but if there is a fire on board it's not a long enough time.

:03:15. > :03:18.So, it's too short for one and too long for the other.

:03:19. > :03:21.The fire that downed this plane could have been a malicious attack

:03:22. > :03:24.but most plane fires are caused by faulty wiring or

:03:25. > :03:32.Laptops, phones, cameras, they all contain powerful lithium

:03:33. > :03:35.batteries and there have been concerns for sometime

:03:36. > :03:42.It's got a water activated switch here...

:03:43. > :03:45.It's critical that they find the black boxes, each has

:03:46. > :03:55.They send out a signal for around a month.

:03:56. > :04:01.If the seabed has rocks on it or is very mountainous then

:04:02. > :04:05.you can blank the signals from the sonar you get.

:04:06. > :04:09.It's not as easy because you get targets back on the image that look

:04:10. > :04:12.With the answers still beneath the sea, it could be weeks,

:04:13. > :04:15.even months, before we know what caused this crash.

:04:16. > :04:22.In the last hour, the BBC has learned that Manchester United

:04:23. > :04:25.will appoint former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho as their new manager.

:04:26. > :04:28.He'll replace Dutchman Louis Van Gaal who, despite winning

:04:29. > :04:38.the FA Cup earlier today, was an able to guide the club

:04:39. > :04:41.the FA Cup earlier today, was unable to guide the club

:04:42. > :04:43.Our sports news correspondent Katie Gornall is at

:04:44. > :04:51.Success short-lived for van Gaal. That's right. There's been intense

:04:52. > :04:55.speculation around Louis Van Gaal's future at Manchester United for

:04:56. > :04:59.months now. Expectations which are high here haven't been met, despite

:05:00. > :05:02.over ?250 million being spent on players under van Gaal and then the

:05:03. > :05:06.club failing to qualify for the Champions League, as well. It led to

:05:07. > :05:10.a growing sense before the final here at Wembley that even if van

:05:11. > :05:16.Gaal did win the FA Cup it wouldn't be enough to see out the final year

:05:17. > :05:19.of his contract. His cause hasn't been helped by the availability of

:05:20. > :05:22.Jose Mourinho, one of the most successful managers in world

:05:23. > :05:26.football who has won titles in Italy, in Spain and England, of

:05:27. > :05:30.course. He's been out of work since December. The BBC understands that

:05:31. > :05:34.this agreement for Jose Mourinho to take over was in place before the

:05:35. > :05:38.final here at Wembley. He will take over next week. An announcement from

:05:39. > :05:43.the club will be made early next week. Jose Mourinho due to come in

:05:44. > :05:47.to replace Louis Van Gaal. He will have the whole summer no you to

:05:48. > :05:52.prepare his squad for the new season, to put his stamp on the

:05:53. > :06:01.squad, and bring players in too and Manchester United clearly Seymour

:06:02. > :06:05.Mourinho as a man with a personality and skills to restore this club to

:06:06. > :06:10.its former glory but Louis Van Gaal is set to leave the club. Thank you.

:06:11. > :06:14.We will have a full match report of today's game coming up.

:06:15. > :06:17.A group of 28 men and women have been discovered in the back

:06:18. > :06:21.They were given medical treatment and then taken into custody

:06:22. > :06:22.on suspicion of entering the country illegally.

:06:23. > :06:25.The driver of the lorry was also arrested on suspicion

:06:26. > :06:31.of facilitating illegal entry into the UK.

:06:32. > :06:33.A woman has been remanded in custody after appearing in court accused

:06:34. > :06:35.of owning a dangerously out of control dog.

:06:36. > :06:38.11 children were attacked in a park in Northumberland with nine

:06:39. > :06:39.needing hospital treatment after the incident

:06:40. > :06:47.Claire Neale, who's 37, pleaded not guilty.

:06:48. > :06:49.Jeremy Corbyn has been setting out how a future Labour Government

:06:50. > :06:54.Speaking in London, the Labour leader said wealth creation

:06:55. > :06:58.was a good thing but that the party would seek to distribute the rewards

:06:59. > :07:02.There were also promises to increase home ownership and plans to provide

:07:03. > :07:08.Here's our political correspondent Carole Walker.

:07:09. > :07:13.A warm welcome for the Labour leader today but he knows he has much to do

:07:14. > :07:19.to convince the wider public to trust him on the economy.

:07:20. > :07:23.The party has announced new advisory bodies,

:07:24. > :07:25.plans to boost housing, and give elected mayors

:07:26. > :07:33.Jeremy Corbyn said he wants a new economics.

:07:34. > :07:35.What Labour stands for is more than stopping the damage

:07:36. > :07:43.We want to see a break with the failed economic orthodoxy

:07:44. > :07:46.that has gripped policy-makers for a generation and set out a very

:07:47. > :07:49.clear vision for a Labour Government that will create an economy that

:07:50. > :07:53.Labour's new leadership say there is no doubt that the party

:07:54. > :07:56.under Ed Miliband lost the last election because it failed

:07:57. > :08:02.to convince voters it had a credible economic strategy.

:08:03. > :08:06.Today, I put it to the Shadow Chancellor that they still don't

:08:07. > :08:09.know where the party stands on key issues such as whether Labour

:08:10. > :08:13.I am not really interested in income tax.

:08:14. > :08:15.What I am interested in is what British people

:08:16. > :08:18.are interested in - a fair taxation system,

:08:19. > :08:20.making sure the corporations and rich pay their way.

:08:21. > :08:23.But people care about their levels of income.

:08:24. > :08:29.I thought you said you would put up the top rate of income tax?

:08:30. > :08:32.We are not increasing the income tax for the bulk of people.

:08:33. > :08:34.But you will put up the top rate of tax?

:08:35. > :08:36.Existing Labour Party policy is to return it

:08:37. > :08:39.to what it was before, which is the top rate of tax.

:08:40. > :08:41.Establishing credibility on the economy remains a huge

:08:42. > :08:44.The leadership say their approach will be socialist, interventionist.

:08:45. > :08:47.But some of the party's MPs say that will not win them back

:08:48. > :08:53.the broad support they need across the country.

:08:54. > :08:56.Labour does have a fiscal rule to balance day-to-day spending

:08:57. > :09:00.and borrow to invest but delegates admit that's not enough.

:09:01. > :09:03.No, it needs to do much more and of course the thinking

:09:04. > :09:09.But there is a hell of a lot already in place.

:09:10. > :09:14.He has to repeat these messages to make clear what they mean

:09:15. > :09:19.They've got very clear basics of the economy right.

:09:20. > :09:21.What they want is wealth creation, right from the grass

:09:22. > :09:24.The Conservatives say Labour would put the economy at risk

:09:25. > :09:27.with more borrowing and debt but the promise of an end

:09:28. > :09:32.to austerity and a fairer taxation system could be appealing,

:09:33. > :09:35.if voters believe Labour does have the right policies to change

:09:36. > :09:43.Meanwhile, the Leave campaign has poured scorn

:09:44. > :09:46.on claims by the Chancellor, George Osborne, that house prices

:09:47. > :09:50.A Treasury report, to be published next week,

:09:51. > :09:53.forecasts that people's homes would lose as much as 18% in value

:09:54. > :09:56.if Britain votes leave in June's referendum.

:09:57. > :10:00.It prompted this reaction from the former Cabinet

:10:01. > :10:04.Minister Iain Duncan Smith, a prominent Leave campaigner.

:10:05. > :10:07.Well, when I heard that I did think of Pinnochio and the nose

:10:08. > :10:13.I mean, let me just remind everybody that it was the Treasury

:10:14. > :10:16.and George Osborne who said, when we came into power back

:10:17. > :10:19.in 2010, we couldn't trust Treasury reports because they were always

:10:20. > :10:25.fiddled with by Chancellors of the Exchequer.

:10:26. > :10:28.A man has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder four women

:10:29. > :10:32.who were stabbed outside a supermarket in south-west London.

:10:33. > :10:35.Ethem Orhon, who's 66, was also charged with possessing

:10:36. > :10:39.The four women are still in hospital in a stable condition

:10:40. > :10:42.following the attack in Hampton yesterday.

:10:43. > :10:46.The Church of Scotland has voted to allow ministers to be

:10:47. > :10:50.The vote was made on the first day of its annual General

:10:51. > :10:55.Civil partnerships were already permitted for clergy but ministers

:10:56. > :10:57.are still barred from conducting gay weddings.

:10:58. > :11:05.A report looking into the issue will be carried out next year.

:11:06. > :11:09.Let's get all the latest with the sport and more on that FA Cup win

:11:10. > :11:13.and Manchester United. Well, as we've been hearing,

:11:14. > :11:16.with the imminent arrival of Jose Mourinho, Louis van Gaal

:11:17. > :11:19.is set to leave as Manchester United manager as an FA Cup winner,

:11:20. > :11:22.after his team lifted the trophy A dramatic final was completed

:11:23. > :11:27.in extra time as United came from behind to beat

:11:28. > :11:38.Crystal Palace 2-1 at Wembley. They say trophies define careers and

:11:39. > :11:41.for Louis Van Gaal this has been the ideal way to end his at Manchester

:11:42. > :11:45.United. This is a club used to the big occasion. For Crystal Palace

:11:46. > :11:49.fans a visit to Wembley is a rare treat. Alan Pardew was in the heart

:11:50. > :11:55.of Palace's misfield the last time they were in an FA Cup final. Now he

:11:56. > :11:58.is directing from the dug out, sending on Jason Puncheon to blast

:11:59. > :12:03.the game open in the second half. That emotion can do strange things

:12:04. > :12:09.to people. On such a stage it takes a cool head to respond. Wayne Rooney

:12:10. > :12:16.was Unite's driving force. Mata the man to seize back control. In extra

:12:17. > :12:20.time Palace gained an advantage after Chris Smalling etc earned him

:12:21. > :12:24.a second yellow. Like United of old they refused to shuffle aside. With

:12:25. > :12:30.the match heading for penalties there was time for one more twist.

:12:31. > :12:35.Lingard may never strike the ball better. Again United have denied

:12:36. > :12:39.Palace. In winning their first trophy since the departure of Alex

:12:40. > :12:42.Ferguson they've shown a ruthless streak too.

:12:43. > :12:45.Hibernian are Scottish Cup champions for the first time since 1902,

:12:46. > :12:47.after beating Rangers 3-2 in an action-packed

:12:48. > :12:49.The occasion, though, was marred by a pitch

:12:50. > :12:53.The Scottish FA and the Police have launched investigations.

:12:54. > :13:01.Hibs fans young and old made their way to Hampden with one thing in

:13:02. > :13:05.common, never having seen their team win a Scottish Cup final. For

:13:06. > :13:09.Rangers supporters this was a chance to add the Cup to the championship

:13:10. > :13:15.and chalg Cup. No sooner than the teams were on the park it seemed

:13:16. > :13:18.Hibs were in front. Anthony Stokes causing the damage. Rangers

:13:19. > :13:23.gradually clawed their way into the match and the former Hibs striker

:13:24. > :13:30.Kenny Miller headed them level. Having beaten Hibs to promotion,

:13:31. > :13:34.when Halliday's strike beat Rogan it appeared Rangers would inflict

:13:35. > :13:39.further misery. But that was to reckon without that man Stokes. And

:13:40. > :13:44.when the Hibs captain David Gray scored an injury time winner a

:13:45. > :13:48.century and more of hurt was ended. Astonishing and somewhat ugly scenes

:13:49. > :13:52.at the end of what should have been a celebration for Hibs as they ended

:13:53. > :13:58.an incredible wait to lift the Scottish Cup. As you can see, a lot

:13:59. > :14:01.of Hibernian fans came on to the park to celebrate a great victory.

:14:02. > :14:05.Rangers fans reacted by also trying to get on. The recriminations are

:14:06. > :14:09.for another day, though. Tonight is a night for the green half of

:14:10. > :14:13.Edinburgh to party like it is 1902. James Anderson took ten

:14:14. > :14:15.wickets as England thrashed Sri Lanka in the first Test

:14:16. > :14:18.match at Headingley. The hosts wasted little time

:14:19. > :14:22.on a rain-interrupted day as Sri Lanka collapsed to defeat

:14:23. > :14:33.by an innings and 88 runs. Leads under leaden skies is a

:14:34. > :14:37.severest sentence as could be handed to a visiting batsman. In such

:14:38. > :14:43.weather the ball swings fast and late. Batting can be guess work. You

:14:44. > :14:47.rarely get it right when Anderson is the tormenter. English conditions

:14:48. > :14:50.were helping the hosts. At Headingley it got too English. Sri

:14:51. > :14:55.Lanka were soon in trouble when they returned to play.

:14:56. > :15:01.The tourists were doomed to a futile chase with ever fewer runners. The

:15:02. > :15:05.captain was the fourth to trip up. Men dez helped Sri Lanka to score

:15:06. > :15:10.more than yesterday's 91 all-out. Anderson could only be delayed, not

:15:11. > :15:14.defied. Finn joined in for England's final ability. Extra stage right,

:15:15. > :15:20.three more gentlemen of Sri Lanka. The last line had to go to the

:15:21. > :15:23.leading man. Anderson's fifth of the match. England's first Test of the

:15:24. > :15:26.summer was barely a test and certainly not summer.

:15:27. > :15:31.That's all the sport. Just before we go, passengers

:15:32. > :15:33.onboard a hot air balloon in the Australian state of Victoria

:15:34. > :15:36.have had a lucky escape after They were were forced to leap

:15:37. > :15:40.onto a passing motorboat All nine made it down safely before

:15:41. > :15:45.being taken to shore and that meant the balloon was then light

:15:46. > :15:52.enough to reach land too. You can see more on all of today's

:15:53. > :16:14.stories on the BBC News channel. Good evening. It's been a rather

:16:15. > :16:18.soggy Saturday for some of us. In fact rain stopped play at Headingley

:16:19. > :16:22.today but as we have already seen in the news it didn't spoil the result

:16:23. > :16:25.for England's first Test. The best of the sunshine was further north

:16:26. > :16:28.and west. Heavy rain through the north of the country. Fairly ragged

:16:29. > :16:29.patchy outbreaks of
