:00:18. > :00:23.The former Conservative Prime Minister, Sir John Major,

:00:24. > :00:27.who wants to keep Britain in the EU, has made a scathing attack

:00:28. > :00:31.on the Leave campaign, branding it fundamentally dishonest.

:00:32. > :00:34.He said it had been deceitful and that, on the issue

:00:35. > :00:38.of immigration, it verged on being "squalid".

:00:39. > :00:39.Boris Johnson has responded for the Leave campaign,

:00:40. > :00:42.defending the focus on immigration, and claiming the UK's population

:00:43. > :00:44.could rise to 80 million if not brought under control.

:00:45. > :00:53.Here's our political correspondent, Chris Mason.

:00:54. > :01:01.As Prime Minister he was caricatured as grey, even boring. Sir John Major

:01:02. > :01:06.himself acknowledges he was often understated. Not this morning he

:01:07. > :01:12.wasn't. Take a look at this. I am angry at the way the British people

:01:13. > :01:16.are being misled. What they have done now they've begun the campaign

:01:17. > :01:21.is to feed out to the British people a whole galaxy of inaccurate and

:01:22. > :01:25.frankly untrue information. I think their campaign is verging on the

:01:26. > :01:28.squalid. What they have said about leaving is fundamentally dishonest.

:01:29. > :01:33.I think this is a deceitful campaign. And he wasn't finished.

:01:34. > :01:39.After the Leave campaign promised the NHS an extra ?100 million a

:01:40. > :01:44.week, Sir John said those who said that simply couldn't be trusted.

:01:45. > :01:49.Well, Michael Gove wanted to privatise it. Boris wanted to charge

:01:50. > :01:54.people for using it and Iain Duncan Smith wanted a social insurance

:01:55. > :02:00.system. The NHS is about as safe with them as a pet hamster would be

:02:01. > :02:04.with a python. The former Prime Minister suggested that claims that

:02:05. > :02:10.Turkey would soon join the EU is misleading. Is it seriously

:02:11. > :02:13.suggested, as they do, that all 88 million Turks would come here,

:02:14. > :02:23.apparently for our high ermine mum wage. On the one hand they say are

:02:24. > :02:28.depressing wages and on the other hand they are not. It is nonsense.

:02:29. > :02:32.Boris Johnson was uncharacteristically understated

:02:33. > :02:38.today but defended a Leave poster claiming Turkey would soon be in the

:02:39. > :02:42.EU. If the poster said that it is Government policy that Turkey at

:02:43. > :02:50.some stage should join the EU it would be true. Turkey is ginning the

:02:51. > :02:54.EU, it is not true. It is policy that Turkey's membership should be

:02:55. > :02:58.accelerated. A direct question to and answer from a fellow Out

:02:59. > :03:01.campaigner. You would reduce immigration currently from outside

:03:02. > :03:06.the EU and from inside the EU to tens of thousands? Yes. The stakes

:03:07. > :03:08.are getting higher, and there's And Chris is here now. Chris, the

:03:09. > :03:20.stakes are higher than ever now. Quite. Let's be clear. What really

:03:21. > :03:24.hearts now is the referendum in a couple of weeks rather than ructions

:03:25. > :03:27.in the Conservative Party. But there's just one thing that's

:03:28. > :03:30.guaranteed in politics in the next three weeks. And that is whatever

:03:31. > :03:36.the result, Conservatives are still in Government. Whoever is at that

:03:37. > :03:41.top table has to deal with a tribe that's been prising itself apart

:03:42. > :03:45.publicly for months. The expectation if the language is like this now

:03:46. > :03:49.with two-and-a-half weeks to go, things can only get far more bitter

:03:50. > :03:53.and that will have consequences. Chris, thank you.

:03:54. > :03:56.The family of Muhammad Ali say people from all over the world

:03:57. > :03:58.are invited to his funeral in the boxer's home town

:03:59. > :04:03.Details of the service were revealed at a news conference in Arizona,

:04:04. > :04:06.where Ali died yesterday at the age of 74.

:04:07. > :04:08.David Willis sent this report from Phoenix.

:04:09. > :04:11.COMMENTATOR: Oh my God, he's won the title back at 32!

:04:12. > :04:13.Even the vanquished have been paying tribute.

:04:14. > :04:16.George Foreman, floored by Muhammad Ali in the 8th

:04:17. > :04:18.round of the so-called Rumble in the Jungle, called him

:04:19. > :04:24.In Louisville Kentucky, where Ali grew up,

:04:25. > :04:27.preparations are under way for the final homecoming.

:04:28. > :04:30.On Friday his body will be driven through the streets ahead

:04:31. > :04:32.of a multi-faith memorial service at a local basketball arena.

:04:33. > :04:42.President Obama tweeted this old photo, with the caption,

:04:43. > :04:51.The celebration will reflect his devotion to people of all races,

:04:52. > :04:53.religions and backgrounds. His extraordinary boxing career only

:04:54. > :04:57.encompassed half of his life. The other half was committed to sharing

:04:58. > :05:01.a message of piece and inclusion to the world. Following his wishes, his

:05:02. > :05:03.funeral will reflect those pins polls and be a celebration open to

:05:04. > :05:04.everyone. President Obama tweeted this

:05:05. > :05:07.old photo, with the caption, "He shook up the world,

:05:08. > :05:09.and the world's better for it. Whilst Bill Clinton,

:05:10. > :05:13.who will deliver a eulogy at Ali's memorial service,

:05:14. > :05:17.had some recollections of his own. When I was a boy and I saw him box

:05:18. > :05:21.the first time, I thought, you know, we're looking at something

:05:22. > :05:27.we may never see again. Meanwhile, further details

:05:28. > :05:29.have emerged of Muhammad He died of septic shock,

:05:30. > :05:38.a condition where the blood pressure drops dangerously low,

:05:47. > :05:55.to his strength of will. Muhammad Ali's funeral

:05:56. > :05:57.and the procession preceding it promises to be an event

:05:58. > :06:01.like no other. Just as people around the world

:06:02. > :06:03.clustered around their television sets to watch his epic title fights,

:06:04. > :06:06.so millions will witness his final We can go live now to Louisville,

:06:07. > :06:22.Kentucky, Ali's home town, and talk to our correspondent

:06:23. > :06:36.there, Aleem Maqbool. Yes, we saw those tributes from

:06:37. > :06:41.world leaders, and from the boxing fraternity, including Larry Holmes,

:06:42. > :06:47.who famously cried after beating Ali in the early '80s, and from

:06:48. > :06:53.Hollywood, from the actor Michael J Fox, as Muhammad Ali did for 30

:06:54. > :06:57.years, suffered from Parkinson's syndrome.

:06:58. > :06:58.Before I was diagnosed with Parkinson's, I admired him

:06:59. > :07:01.and I admired his athleticism, his poise, his class,

:07:02. > :07:03.his style, his stoicism, his belief in what he felt

:07:04. > :07:05.was right, and his willingness to accept the consequences

:07:06. > :07:09.All that was impressive, and then to have actually met him

:07:10. > :07:12.and joined with him in a common cause, a common fight...

:07:13. > :07:20.Who else would you want in your corner?

:07:21. > :07:27.And that funeral for Muhammad Ali will be held in an arena a few

:07:28. > :07:33.blocks from here in the centre of Louisville. It will be led by an

:07:34. > :07:40.Imam. Some say it is a testament to the man that even though he was a

:07:41. > :07:43.Muslim and a funeral will be led by an Imam, there'll be prayers said

:07:44. > :07:47.across the country in churches today. Aleem, thank you.

:07:48. > :07:49.Police have arrested a 61-year-old man from Leicester on suspicion

:07:50. > :07:52.of the murder of an elderly man and the disappearance

:08:12. > :08:16.Around 40 people have been killed in Bangladesh by suspected Islamists

:08:17. > :08:24.Tennis, and Andy Murray will make sporting history today

:08:25. > :08:28.when he appears in the final of the French Open at Roland Garros

:08:29. > :08:30.to take on the world number one, Novak Djokovic.

:08:31. > :08:33.He's the first British man to reach this stage of the competition

:08:34. > :08:34.since Bunny Austin, almost 80 years ago.

:08:35. > :08:39.Our sports correspondent, Andy Swiss, is in Paris for us.

:08:40. > :08:50.Well, it's certainly not going to be easy. I suppose the good news for

:08:51. > :08:55.Andy Murray is that he is playing the best clay court tennis of his

:08:56. > :09:01.career. He was superb in the semifinals here when he beat the

:09:02. > :09:05.defending champion, Stan Wawrinka. Only three weeks ago he beat Novak

:09:06. > :09:09.Djokovic in the final of the Italian open. But Djokovic is the world

:09:10. > :09:13.number one, the top seed. This is the only Grand Slam title he has

:09:14. > :09:19.never won, so he is desperate to win this. But Murray knows that if he

:09:20. > :09:23.can win here today he'll be the first British man to win the French

:09:24. > :09:29.Open title since Fred Perry way back in 1935. He has made history before.

:09:30. > :09:31.Can he do it again? We'll find out in about half an hour, when it all

:09:32. > :09:34.gets under way. You can see more on all of today's

:09:35. > :09:56.stories on the BBC News Channel. Good afternoon. It was a bit of a

:09:57. > :09:59.slow start today for some of us, with mist, fog and low cloud. But

:10:00. > :10:03.pretty much all of that has disappeared and we are into a sunny

:10:04. > :10:08.afternoon. It is early June, sunshine is strong. It's going to be

:10:09. > :10:14.a warm afternoon. This is the view from one of our weather watchers in

:10:15. > :10:15.Shropshire. Blue sky here, but it's not the case for
