:03:46. > :03:47.Relief workers allow survivors to pick up belongings

:03:48. > :03:51.They carry away pieces of their old lives which they'll use

:03:52. > :04:00.James Reynolds, BBC News, Ascoli Piceno.

:04:01. > :04:03.The M20 in both directions near Maidstone in Kent remains

:04:04. > :04:09.closed following the collapse of a pedestrian bridge.

:04:10. > :04:12.One motorcyclist was injured after a lorry crashed

:04:13. > :04:15.into the bridge, causing it to give way on one of the busiest

:04:16. > :04:19.The driver of this truck is counting his blessings,

:04:20. > :04:22.the footbridge just missed his cab as it crashed across

:04:23. > :04:26.Underneath the concrete, a motorcyclist is pinned

:04:27. > :04:34.to the ground with suspected broken ribs, but is soon taken to hospital.

:04:35. > :04:36.For many others too this was a close call.

:04:37. > :04:40.We were, literally, four or five cars behind.

:04:41. > :04:44.Obviously, you're not really expecting that sort

:04:45. > :04:50.Kent Police say the digger being carried on the back of this

:04:51. > :04:54.lorry struck the bridge, bringing half the concrete structure down.

:04:55. > :04:57.You can see bits of it still lying across the vehicle, but the digger

:04:58. > :05:04.On what is the busiest travel day of the Bank Holiday weekend,

:05:05. > :05:07.the closure of the M20 caused major disruption,

:05:08. > :05:11.and not just here, the motorway is one of the main routes to France

:05:12. > :05:17.and traffic backed up on the M25 and M26, too.

:05:18. > :05:19.Apart from the motorcyclist there were, astonishingly,

:05:20. > :05:23.no other injuries in this accident and when you get this close you can

:05:24. > :05:26.see just how many lucky escapes there were today.

:05:27. > :05:28.Even the driver of that white truck walked away shaken,

:05:29. > :05:36.Clearing this stretch of motorway will not be quick.

:05:37. > :05:39.As well as the fallen concrete beam, both lorries must be removed

:05:40. > :05:42.and the rest of the footbridge will have to be made safe

:05:43. > :05:47.But thankfully, this is a story of disruption and not disaster.

:05:48. > :05:55.Richard Lister, BBC News, on the M20 in Kent.

:05:56. > :06:02.The Highways Agency has got control of this site, they have sent in a

:06:03. > :06:06.crane and heavy lifting equipment and the bright lights you can see

:06:07. > :06:10.behind me are team of engineers who will spend the night assessing this

:06:11. > :06:14.carefully, working out how to best remove the remaining parts of the

:06:15. > :06:18.bridge, how to make the rest of the bridge safe and then how to take

:06:19. > :06:21.both trucks away that have been damaged and repair damage to the

:06:22. > :06:26.tarmac. That will take all night just to assess that heavy lifting

:06:27. > :06:30.work, it will probably not take place until tomorrow. How long will

:06:31. > :06:32.that take? Highways England will give us an update tomorrow. Thank

:06:33. > :06:36.you very much, Richard Lister. Human rights activists say at least

:06:37. > :06:39.15 people have been killed in an air raid on a rebel-held

:06:40. > :06:42.district of the Syrian The British-based Syrian Observatory

:06:43. > :06:45.for Human Rights says government planes dropped two barrel bombs

:06:46. > :06:47.several minutes apart. The attack comes as the UN continues

:06:48. > :06:50.to push for a 48-hour ceasefire in the fighting

:06:51. > :07:04.to allow aid into the city. One more winded Syrian child rescued

:07:05. > :07:08.after a government bombardment in Aleppo. This time Syrian government

:07:09. > :07:12.forces dropped in on two bombs in such success in Barney Rubble held

:07:13. > :07:16.district. The first hit families mourning their dead from a previous

:07:17. > :07:20.attack. The second struck as emergency workers rushed to help the

:07:21. > :07:25.dead and wounded. Reports on the ground points to makeshift devices

:07:26. > :07:29.known as barrel bombs, cheap and primitive and illegal. Used as they

:07:30. > :07:35.have been countless times by the forces of President Assad, despite

:07:36. > :07:38.official denials. This man said that one of the barrel bombs hit the

:07:39. > :07:45.building behind him, killing 15 people. As the rubble was being

:07:46. > :07:50.cleared away, the UN issued and other urgent call for all sides

:07:51. > :07:55.battling for Aleppo to allow aid in. The UN is seeking a weekly 48-hour

:07:56. > :08:00.pause in the fighting to bring in food and medicine to both sides of

:08:01. > :08:07.the divided city. On the outskirts of Damascus, the last rebel fighters

:08:08. > :08:11.left the time today. It was one of the first to rise up against

:08:12. > :08:16.President Assad and was seen by many as one of the last symbols of the

:08:17. > :08:21.lost idealism of those days. It was pummelled into submission by barrel

:08:22. > :08:27.bombs and a four-year siege. Some residents are already being

:08:28. > :08:32.rehoused. Their memories still raw. TRANSLATION: It was a ferocious

:08:33. > :08:36.siege. We used to grow our own food but this year we could not grow

:08:37. > :08:43.anything, nothing. We suffered to the very last moment. On another

:08:44. > :08:45.battlefront in the north-east, Turkish air strikes have hit Kurdish

:08:46. > :08:50.positions in an effort to push them back. The Turkish government does

:08:51. > :08:54.not want them to have any chance of forming their own state.

:08:55. > :08:59.International efforts to revive field ceasefires and remaining --

:09:00. > :09:03.trying to restart meaningful peace talks continue but the situation on

:09:04. > :09:06.the ground only seems to become more complicated.

:09:07. > :09:09.Police have been given extra time to question five men arrested over

:09:10. > :09:12.The suspects - from Stoke on Trent and Birmingham -

:09:13. > :09:16.A police cordon was put up in Birmingham city centre

:09:17. > :09:18.for several hours as army bomb disposal units were called

:09:19. > :09:25.Detectives can hold them until September 2nd without charge.

:09:26. > :09:28.Lifeguards will be stationed on the beach at Camber Sands

:09:29. > :09:31.in East Sussex until the end of the summer following the deaths

:09:32. > :09:33.of five young men from London on Wednesday.

:09:34. > :09:36.It still isn't clear exactly what happened,

:09:37. > :09:39.but the men's families say if lifeguards had been on duty,

:09:40. > :09:47.The Prime Minister Theresa May has announced a wide ranging review

:09:48. > :09:49.of public services as part of a drive to tackle

:09:50. > :09:53.She says monitoring how people from different backgrounds

:09:54. > :09:56.are treated by the Health Service, in education and the criminal

:09:57. > :09:59.justice system would reveal "difficult truths".

:10:00. > :10:07.Final preparations for Britain's biggest street festival.

:10:08. > :10:10.Notting Hill Carnival, a celebration of multiculturalism.

:10:11. > :10:12.But people here say, when it comes to equality,

:10:13. > :10:23.You can see we are not being treated equally.

:10:24. > :10:26.It is never going to happen, regardless.

:10:27. > :10:31.It's divided on class, on race, on geography, all kind of things.

:10:32. > :10:34.There are substantial areas in the public sector

:10:35. > :10:38.and in the private sector where equality does not exist.

:10:39. > :10:43.Where there is clearly evidence of discriminatory practices.

:10:44. > :10:45.In Theresa May's opening address as Prime Minister, she promised

:10:46. > :10:51.a hard stance to stamp out discrimination.

:10:52. > :10:54.If you are born poor, you will die on average nine years

:10:55. > :10:59.If you are black, you are treated more harshly by the criminal justice

:11:00. > :11:05.If you are a white working-class boy, you are less likely than anyone

:11:06. > :11:12.If you are at a state school, you are less likely to reach

:11:13. > :11:15.the top professions than if you are educated privately.

:11:16. > :11:19.And now a new unit will scrutinise racism in education,

:11:20. > :11:22.employment, health and the justice system.

:11:23. > :11:24.But precisely what it will find or what the government

:11:25. > :11:31.What is certain is the Prime Minister has her work cut out.

:11:32. > :11:36.According to a recent report by the Equality

:11:37. > :11:39.and Human Rights Commission, inequality is entrenched in Britain.

:11:40. > :11:43.Black graduates for example earn 23% less than their white

:11:44. > :11:47.colleagues and are more likely to face unemployment.

:11:48. > :11:52.Theresa May says she wants to remove barriers that face

:11:53. > :11:58.Boys from this background are least likely to go to university.

:11:59. > :12:01.What they should have been doing is looking

:12:02. > :12:06.at the equality impact of the cuts they were proposing to make.

:12:07. > :12:12.All they have done is push the poorest people into deprivation.

:12:13. > :12:14.Disproportionately black BME people are impacted but women and disabled

:12:15. > :12:20.The government says that the scheme will shine a light

:12:21. > :12:31.Some say the truth has been obvious for too long and want action.

:12:32. > :12:33.With all the sport, here's Katherine Downes

:12:34. > :12:40.Hull have won Rugby League's Challenge Cup in a thrilling final.

:12:41. > :12:42.They came from behind to beat Warrington -

:12:43. > :12:43.their first win at Wembley in nine attempts.

:12:44. > :12:56.This is the day the North comes site. The traditional heartland of

:12:57. > :13:00.the game arriving at the Challenge Cup's traditional home. For these

:13:01. > :13:05.fans, a well worn path but for Hull this has not always been a happy

:13:06. > :13:08.journey. Eight finals here without a win, a tradition they were desperate

:13:09. > :13:13.to end. But this is a Warrington side that does know how to win on

:13:14. > :13:16.big occasions, such changes can be draining in this heat. Chris Sandow

:13:17. > :13:21.eventually caught but Warrington would not be stopped for long. Matty

:13:22. > :13:30.Russell scoring with half-time despite moments away. A dramatic

:13:31. > :13:34.moment! Burst wide open! And it was Warrington turning up the heat yet

:13:35. > :13:40.further. Ben Currie finding a rare moment of space against the tiring

:13:41. > :13:44.legs, he could not be caught. The decisive blow? Perhaps not, Hull,

:13:45. > :13:51.stifled on the pitch, took the aerial route. Restoring some hope.

:13:52. > :13:55.And that encouragement can take a side in no way, Jamie Shaw,

:13:56. > :14:00.astonishingly, pulling Hull level and giving them the chance to be put

:14:01. > :14:05.two points ahead with moments remaining. And he has put it over!

:14:06. > :14:13.Such a small margins are how this cup was won and per Warrington, how

:14:14. > :14:22.it was lost. Ben Currie's last-gasp moment of glory inches from the

:14:23. > :14:27.line. Warrington's chance was gone. History is made. As a fairy tale

:14:28. > :14:31.ending for Hull, for once the worlds were not the bad guys and after

:14:32. > :14:35.years of disappointment, finally, the Black and Whites have one on the

:14:36. > :14:39.biggest stage for this game. There were eight fixtures

:14:40. > :14:41.in the Premier League today - but it's time to leave the room

:14:42. > :14:44.if you don't want to know today's results as Match of the Day

:14:45. > :14:47.follows soon on BBC One. Champions Leicester

:14:48. > :14:49.picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1

:14:50. > :14:51.victory over Swansea. And it was a first goal

:14:52. > :14:54.of the season for Jamie Vardy in very wet conditions

:14:55. > :14:56.at the King Power Stadium. Wes Morgan scored

:14:57. > :14:58.Leicester's second. Chelsea and Manchester United both

:14:59. > :15:02.maintained their 100% records. Tottenham and Liverpool drew 1-1

:15:03. > :15:04.in the lunchtime kick-off. There were wins, too,

:15:05. > :15:09.for Everton and Arsenal. And Celtic have gone to the top

:15:10. > :15:11.of the Scottish Premiership Hearts are up to third

:15:12. > :15:15.after their victory England's cricketers have beaten

:15:16. > :15:22.Pakistan by four wickets at Lord's in the second one-day international

:15:23. > :15:25.to take a 2-0 lead in Joe Root made his fourth-successive

:15:26. > :15:29.half-century in an ODI, eventually falling for 89

:15:30. > :15:33.as England successfully chased It's England's first one-day win

:15:34. > :15:43.at Lord's since 2012. Lewis Hamilton will start

:15:46. > :15:50.place grid penalty after running His Mercedes teammate

:16:39. > :16:56.But from me and the rest of the team, have a very good night.

:16:57. > :17:04.Good evening, it was a nice day for some other others, and

:17:05. > :17:06.meteorological mayhem. Every picture tells a story, violent thunderstorms
