:01:28. > :01:32.Health Services. So while three years ago 5% of acute care hospitals
:01:33. > :01:37.were running a financial deficit, now that figure is 80%. In the same
:01:38. > :01:44.time period, the percentage of hospitals missing A waiting time
:01:45. > :01:47.targets has jumped from 10% to 90%. The NHS providers say that
:01:48. > :01:53.healthcare rationing is one approach to cutting costs. The Vale of York's
:01:54. > :01:57.already proposed delaying surgery for obese patients, arguing that
:01:58. > :02:01.outcomes from less successful than for those who are not. It want to
:02:02. > :02:06.provide the same rules for smokers. Cutting staff is another option. The
:02:07. > :02:11.Department of Health says it has committed an tra ?10 billion to fund
:02:12. > :02:15.the NHS's own plan for its future it says while it recognises the
:02:16. > :02:20.pressures on the health service of an ageing population the Government
:02:21. > :02:24.expecting the NHS s ensure patients are treated quickly. I'm not sure
:02:25. > :02:27.anything has gone wrong the sail of which he is trying to put forward.
:02:28. > :02:31.But we have to engage with the leadership of the NHS. I'm proud of
