:02:34. > :02:38.all in their 20s. More than a dozen

:02:39. > :02:41.others were wounded. You can still see the skid

:02:42. > :02:45.marks in the dirt here. This is the very spot

:02:46. > :02:47.where the soldiers were killed. There has been an upsurge

:02:48. > :02:49.in Palestinian attacks on But this is one

:02:50. > :02:53.of the deadliest that And the use of the lorry

:02:54. > :02:58.is also something unusual. Visiting the scene,

:02:59. > :03:00.the Prime Minister said this was similar

:03:25. > :03:27.terror attacks. They definitely could be a connection between them,

:03:28. > :03:35.from France to Berlin and now Jerusalem. Israel blames previous

:03:36. > :03:38.attacks on incitement by Palestinian officials and social media.

:03:39. > :03:42.Palestinian leaders say they have been driven by anger after more than

:03:43. > :03:43.20 years of on and off peace talks have failed to deliver an

:03:44. > :03:45.independent Palestinian state. And Yolande is live

:03:46. > :03:52.for us now in Jerusalem. How should we read this particular

:03:53. > :03:58.attack in the context of what has been happening in the last 16

:03:59. > :04:02.months? If we look back over that time period, when there has been a

:04:03. > :04:07.wave of Palestinian attacks, it has mostly been knife attacks but also

:04:08. > :04:12.shootings and some car running is and about 40 Israelis have been

:04:13. > :04:16.killed. At the same time, more than 200 Palestinians have been killed

:04:17. > :04:21.and Israel says most of them were involved in carrying out attacks and

:04:22. > :04:24.others also died in clashes. In the past few weeks, the numbers of

:04:25. > :04:31.attacks had really appeared to be subsiding so this lorry ramming will

:04:32. > :04:36.greatly increase concern and tonight the Israeli Cabinet met to discuss

:04:37. > :04:40.what happened and it decided to blockade the area of East Jerusalem

:04:41. > :04:45.where this lorry driver came from and says it is taking other steps as

:04:46. > :04:51.well. Pass of the man is to be demolished. And across Jerusalem,

:04:52. > :04:54.tonight, you can see there has been an increase in security because of

:04:55. > :04:57.concern about possible copycat attacks. Thank you.

:04:58. > :05:00.Theresa May says the Government will take back control of Britain's

:05:01. > :05:03.borders when we leave the EU and appeared to suggest that could

:05:04. > :05:09.But in her first interview of the New Year, Mrs May said

:05:10. > :05:11.the choice between controlling immigration and staying

:05:12. > :05:13.in the single market was not a binary either/or decision.

:05:14. > :05:19.Here's our political correspondent, Carole Walker.

:05:20. > :05:21.After six months in power, the Prime Minister has begun

:05:22. > :05:26.to signal what she wants from the Brexit negotiations.

:05:27. > :05:32.She knows that no longer satisfies anyone.

:05:33. > :05:35.Theresa May denies muddled thinking and said Britain would take back

:05:36. > :05:37.control of its borders and appeared to hint that would mean

:05:38. > :05:44.People talk in terms as if somehow we are leaving the EU

:05:45. > :05:48.but we still want to kind of keep bits of membership of the EU.

:05:49. > :05:51.We are leaving, we are coming out, we're not going to be a member

:05:52. > :05:55.So the question is, what is the right relationship for the UK

:05:56. > :06:00.to have with the European Union when we're outside?

:06:01. > :06:03.Campaigners on both sides of the Brexit argument took that

:06:04. > :06:06.as a clear signal we will leave the single market.

:06:07. > :06:11.She had one question put to her three times

:06:12. > :06:13.and still didn't answer it, which is, are you prioritising

:06:14. > :06:17.immigration over access to the single market?

:06:18. > :06:20.That was the question she didn't want to answer.

:06:21. > :06:24.And I think now, ten to 11 weeks from the triggering of Article 50

:06:25. > :06:28.and the most important negotiations for a generation, we need

:06:29. > :06:31.more clarity than that and we haven't got it.

:06:32. > :06:34.But Nicola Sturgeon warned any move to take Scotland out of the single

:06:35. > :06:36.market as part of the UK could trigger a second

:06:37. > :06:42.They will be making a big mistake if they think I am

:06:43. > :06:46.We have to ask ourselves in Scotland, are we happy

:06:47. > :06:48.to have the direction of our country, the kind

:06:49. > :06:51.of country we want to be, determined by a right-wing

:06:52. > :06:54.Conservative government, perhaps for the next 20 years?

:06:55. > :06:56.Or do we want to take control of our own future?

:06:57. > :07:00.Theresa May does not want her entire time in Downing Street to be defined

:07:01. > :07:04.by Brexit and she stressed that referendum vote was a demand

:07:05. > :07:07.for wider change to the way the country is run.

:07:08. > :07:10.So she is promising a programme of social reform which she says

:07:11. > :07:14.will help not just the poorest but every level of society.

:07:15. > :07:18.It is about dealing with everyday injustices but also about all of us

:07:19. > :07:21.recognising our obligations as citizens within the communities

:07:22. > :07:29.It is about recognising that there is a role for government

:07:30. > :07:31.but government needs to ensure that it is acting as effectively

:07:32. > :07:35.as possible in its areas where it should be taking action.

:07:36. > :07:38.She says her government will tackle the housing crisis,

:07:39. > :07:42.the markets and change attitudes to mental health.

:07:43. > :07:46.The Prime Minister's language is ambitious.

:08:01. > :08:04.which killed five people and injured several others.

:08:05. > :08:06.There are questions about why Esteban Santiago -

:08:10. > :08:11.by the US government - was allowed to keep his weapon

:08:12. > :08:19.Israel's ambassador to Britain has apologised after a member

:08:44. > :08:44.Sir Alan has previously criticised Israeli

:08:45. > :08:49.settlement-building in the West Bank.

:08:50. > :08:52.Much of Europe is experiencing sub-zero temperatures and heavy

:08:53. > :08:55.snow, with at least 20 deaths over the weekend.

:08:56. > :08:58.Ten people died in Poland and several in Italy,

:09:08. > :09:09.also spreading to Turkey, where there have been flight

:09:10. > :09:17.Credit card and personal loan debt is at record levels,

:09:18. > :09:19.according to new analysis by the TUC.

:09:20. > :09:23.It says unsecured debt - money that's not borrowed

:09:24. > :09:27.against property - has reached ?13,000 per household.

:09:28. > :09:29.Unions are warning a slowdown in wage growth and increasing

:09:30. > :09:32.inflation could make the debt more difficult to repay for

:09:33. > :09:38.Here's our business correspondent, Joe Lynam.

:09:39. > :09:41.With Christmas sales winding down, our finances

:09:42. > :09:47.We appear to be taking on increasing amounts of unsecured debt.

:09:48. > :09:50.That includes student loans and overdrafts but especially credit

:09:51. > :09:58.Celine Jordan ran up credit card debts and overdrafts worth ?23,000.

:09:59. > :10:01.Her finances are in order now but she said getting

:10:02. > :10:09.12.5 on this card, X amount on that one.

:10:10. > :10:29.Britain has a record total now of ?349 billion in unsecured debt.

:10:30. > :10:32.For the average household, that figure has doubled

:10:33. > :10:36.since 2000 to almost ?13,000, which means we spend almost 28%

:10:37. > :10:40.of our disposable income, which is our earnings after tax,

:10:41. > :10:52.And that doesn't even include the mortgage.

:10:53. > :10:55.We looked at debt across the board, because that is what people

:10:56. > :11:00.And we did also see about two thirds of the debt is from an increase

:11:01. > :11:04.So we do think these figures are cause for concern and we think

:11:05. > :11:07.there are issues that we really need to be thinking about as we go

:11:08. > :11:10.into this quite worrying year where people are expecting to see

:11:11. > :11:11.maybe another living standards squeeze.

:11:12. > :11:13.But while some types of debt might be rising,

:11:14. > :11:16.the Bank of England says mortgage arrears and loan defaults have

:11:17. > :11:20.And the bank's Andy Haldane said last week that the regulator

:11:21. > :11:27.Although the household debt ratio is high by historical comparison,

:11:28. > :11:29.it has come down in a fairly sizeable way, by about

:11:30. > :11:36.What is more is interest rates are still very low.

:11:37. > :11:38.But with interest rates set to remain very low,

:11:39. > :11:42.regulators are worried that we may be taking on too many debts,

:11:43. > :11:49.which becomes an issue if the economy weakens in 2017.

:11:50. > :11:51.In the last few minutes London Underground workers have

:11:52. > :11:57.The action is likely to close all Tube stations in Central London

:11:58. > :12:01.Unions have rejected the latest offer from management in a dispute

:12:02. > :12:08.Football and the FA Cup third round continued today.

:12:09. > :12:10.League Two leaders Plymouth provided the upset of the day,

:12:11. > :12:14.holding Liverpool to a draw despite having to make a 600 mile

:12:15. > :12:28.Michael Plymouth Argyle the pilgrims, rarely has been a more

:12:29. > :12:32.fitting nickname. Almost 9000 making the journey from Devon to

:12:33. > :12:36.Merseyside, more in hope than expectation but then this is the FA

:12:37. > :12:40.Cup. With every invasion comes a resistance movement. For much of the

:12:41. > :12:44.game at Anfield, Plymouth are playing the part of both. Against a

:12:45. > :12:47.side like Liverpool they would always be scares but that was all

:12:48. > :12:53.they were. Plymouth might even have one less. Some fans can hardly

:12:54. > :12:59.watch. But that perhaps a dream too far for even this competition. An

:13:00. > :13:03.incredible result! In FA Cup history! Night with a replay and

:13:04. > :13:08.Liverpool will have to make the long journey. For Peterborough, a shorter

:13:09. > :13:14.trip but no less daunting. Against Chelsea, any hopes they had of glory

:13:15. > :13:17.disappeared, beaten 4-1. Full progress, not that there were many

:13:18. > :13:23.in Cardiff to see this. The excitement of the cup it seems does

:13:24. > :13:30.not extend to fans. 16-year-old Ryan Sessegnon will not forget his trip

:13:31. > :13:34.any time soon. In the day's final ten, Aston Villa's awayday ruined by

:13:35. > :13:36.Tottenham. 2-0 and into the next round.

:13:37. > :13:39.The Queen has recovered from her heavy cold and was well

:13:40. > :13:41.enough to attend church at Sandringham this morning -

:13:42. > :13:43.her first public appearance since the beginning of December.

:13:44. > :13:45.Our Royal correspondent, Daniela Relph, was there.

:13:46. > :13:48.Her report contains flash photography.

:13:49. > :13:52.It had been a much anticipated arrival.

:13:53. > :13:55.Driven in an estate Bentley, it was the first time the Queen had

:13:56. > :13:57.been seen in public since arriving on her Sandringham

:13:58. > :14:04.Cheered as she emerged from the car, she arrived just before 11am

:14:05. > :14:06.for this morning's church service, accompanied by the Duke

:14:07. > :14:11.She had missed church on both Christmas and New Year's Day due

:14:12. > :14:17.Those who had waited were pleased to see her.

:14:18. > :14:20.I saw her very close-up and she looked a little bit frail,

:14:21. > :14:22.to be honest, but it's nice to see her.

:14:23. > :14:28.Whenever you see her, you get a little buzz.

:14:29. > :14:31.It is good to know that she was coming.

:14:32. > :14:36.She did look quite bright in the car and that was quite nice, really.

:14:37. > :14:37.The Queen's Speech, recorded a couple of weeks

:14:38. > :14:40.before Christmas Day, had been one of the last times

:14:41. > :14:45.She had also carried out an investiture in early December.

:14:46. > :14:49.But over the past three weeks she has been laid low.

:14:50. > :14:51.As a precaution, she was advised to stay inside and rest

:14:52. > :14:57.The Queen's attendance at church is clearly a sign

:14:58. > :15:04.Her appearance today will ease the inevitable concern

:15:05. > :15:06.and speculation that arose during her absence from church

:15:07. > :15:12.After church, the Queen was driven back to the main

:15:13. > :15:16.She will remain in Norfolk until next month.
