:00:23. > :00:24.Sinn Fein are celebrating their best ever showing in elections

:00:25. > :00:28.They've won 27 seats, just one less than the Democratic Unionists.

:00:29. > :00:31.Sinn Fein's President, Gerry Adams, said it was "a watershed election"

:00:32. > :00:34.and the end to a permanent unionist majority in Northern Ireland.

:00:35. > :00:36.The two parties now have three weeks to try to agree

:00:37. > :01:00.Sinn Fein believe they have changed the political picture in Northern

:01:01. > :01:05.Ireland. If this election was a battle, in a long fight between

:01:06. > :01:08.Unionism and nationalism, they are claiming victory. Clearly, the

:01:09. > :01:17.Unionist majority in the assembly has been ended and the notion of a

:01:18. > :01:21.permanent or a perpetual Unionist majority has been demolished. The

:01:22. > :01:26.DUP are still Stormont 's biggest party but they could only watch as

:01:27. > :01:31.Republicans out into the sizeable lead from the last election, just

:01:32. > :01:36.ten months ago. Many voters were motivated by the harsh words of the

:01:37. > :01:41.campaign. At one stage the DUP compared Republicans to crocodiles.

:01:42. > :01:45.Now they have bitten back. In order to go back into government, it Sinn

:01:46. > :01:56.Fein are calling for Arlene Foster to step aside as First Minister

:01:57. > :01:59.while a public enquiry takes place into a financial scandal linked to a

:02:00. > :02:02.botched green energy scheme, it is a demand that has angered Mrs Foster

:02:03. > :02:04.'s party. Now we have to pick up the pieces after having a brutal

:02:05. > :02:07.election and I think that the party which has got most to be concerned

:02:08. > :02:13.about as to how it repairs the damage is Sinn Fein. For so long the

:02:14. > :02:17.big beast of politics here, Unionism is facing a fresh raw from

:02:18. > :02:22.nationalism. Just months ago they seem to be working together, but in

:02:23. > :02:32.Unionist east Belfast with the CS Lewis Square has been

:02:33. > :02:36.built in honour of the author 's mythical tales of battle there is a

:02:37. > :02:38.certain concern about what is emerging. Aaron Cole government

:02:39. > :02:41.system is not working for the people who need it, because they are up

:02:42. > :02:44.there are squabbling over very little to be honest. Republicans are

:02:45. > :02:46.out again in force, they put us to shame. We should get off our

:02:47. > :02:51.backsides and go and vote now. Once hailed as the champion of Unionism,

:02:52. > :02:55.a statue of Edward Carson stands outside Stormont. Today, his

:02:56. > :03:00.political successors feel on their guard and no one is sure if a deal

:03:01. > :03:01.to restore power-sharing is within their grasp. Chris Buckler, BBC

:03:02. > :03:03.News, Belfast. Donald Trump has accused the Obama

:03:04. > :03:05.administration of orchestrating a plot to tap his phones,

:03:06. > :03:08.in the run up to last year's In a series of messages on Twitter,

:03:09. > :03:12.President Trump accused Mr Obama of personally authorising

:03:13. > :03:14.the alleged tapping and compared it to the Watergate scandal,

:03:15. > :03:17.but offered no evidence that it Our Washington correspondent

:03:18. > :03:33.Laura Bicker reports. There is a protocol between

:03:34. > :03:37.presidents even across the political divide, a peaceful handover of power

:03:38. > :03:42.even when the pair do not get along. In a tie rate of tweets, Donald

:03:43. > :03:47.Trump has trashed this tradition accusing Barack Obama of ordering a

:03:48. > :03:52.wiretap on his Trump Tower phone, not in one, but in four tweets, the

:03:53. > :04:05.last red... What we are witnessing today... What

:04:06. > :04:08.a contrast to his tone during this week 's address to Congress. It

:04:09. > :04:14.appears this was not the pivot to a different kind of President that

:04:15. > :04:18.many thought. So where Trump Towers phones tapped? The Conservative news

:04:19. > :04:24.publication Breitbart seems to think so and blames Barack Obama. Did this

:04:25. > :04:29.article start the Twitter cascade? But no President has the power to

:04:30. > :04:33.order a wiretap, only the FBI can do that with a warrant from the court.

:04:34. > :04:35.President Trump is now facing calls to produce proof for his claims.

:04:36. > :04:40.Laura is in Washington this evening.

:04:41. > :04:49.What response first from the Obama camp if any? We have had no official

:04:50. > :04:55.response from President Obama. There has been our response from Ben Rose,

:04:56. > :05:01.his former adviser who tweeted saying that no President can order a

:05:02. > :05:05.wiretap and he said, that when it came to this response from Donald

:05:06. > :05:09.Trump, he said that these measures were put in place to protect the

:05:10. > :05:15.public from the likes of a President like you, he said on Twitter. It has

:05:16. > :05:19.to be pointed out that we are at a rally for Donald Trump's supporters.

:05:20. > :05:23.They are here gathering because they believe in him 100% and they are

:05:24. > :05:29.reacting to the protests that have taken place throughout the country.

:05:30. > :05:32.However, Donald Trump is dogged by this Russian controversy, he lost

:05:33. > :05:50.his National Security Adviser Michael Flynn after he had contact

:05:51. > :05:53.with the Russian ambassador and discussed sanctions and those

:05:54. > :05:55.conversations were revealed during phone interceptions. That would

:05:56. > :05:57.suggest that his phone was tapped. This week Jeff Sessions, his chief

:05:58. > :06:00.lawyer had to step aside from being in charge of any of these Russian

:06:01. > :06:02.investigations because he had had a meeting with the Russian ambassador

:06:03. > :06:07.and failed to disclose it. This is leading to an Democrats calling

:06:08. > :06:09.Donald Trump the deflector in chief. Thank you, Laura Bicker.

:06:10. > :06:12.The Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has announced that he will visit

:06:13. > :06:14.Moscow in the coming weeks, in an attempt to improve

:06:15. > :06:17.relations with Russia. It will be the first such trip by

:06:18. > :06:21.Talks will focus on British - Russian relations, and disagreements

:06:22. > :06:22.over Russia's actions in Ukraine and Syria.

:06:23. > :06:25.The Foreign Office said the trip did not signal a change

:06:26. > :06:32.The Prime Minister of Somalia says over a hundred people

:06:33. > :06:35.from a drought-hit region in the country have died of hunger

:06:36. > :06:39.The drought was declared a national disaster on Tuesday,

:06:40. > :06:41.and the United Nations estimates that five million people

:06:42. > :06:47.Thousands have been made their way to Somalia's capital, Mogadishu,

:06:48. > :06:53.Tens of thousands of people have marched in London today to protest

:06:54. > :06:56.at what they say are cuts to NHS services. Hospital staff,

:06:57. > :06:57.campaigners and union representatives joined

:06:58. > :06:59.the demonstration, with the Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn

:07:00. > :07:06.Organisers claim Theresa May's demands on austerity in the NHS

:07:07. > :07:08.represent a real risk to patients and safety, but the department

:07:09. > :07:15.of health says extra money is being invested.

:07:16. > :07:17.The French carmaker which owns Peugeot and Citroen is reported

:07:18. > :07:20.to have reached an agreement to buy Vauxhall from General Motors.

:07:21. > :07:22.Talk of a deal has raised concerns about the future

:07:23. > :07:25.of Vauxhall's two UK factories at Luton and Ellesmere Port,

:07:26. > :07:27.which employ more than four thousand people.

:07:28. > :07:28.An official announcement is expected on Monday.

:07:29. > :07:40.Our Business correspondent Joe Lynam reports.

:07:41. > :07:46.This Vauxhall plant is one of the more efficient car making factories

:07:47. > :07:51.in the world. 60% of the vehicles made here are exported, mostly to

:07:52. > :07:55.Europe. But the workers here may have new bosses from Monday when it

:07:56. > :08:00.is likely that the company that makes Peugeot cars, PSA confirmed

:08:01. > :08:04.that it has bought foxhole and Opal, but with too many factories in

:08:05. > :08:10.Europe and not enough demand, PSA is likely to have a long hard look at

:08:11. > :08:14.which it plans to keep open and that the microscope. Vauxhall employs

:08:15. > :08:18.just under 200 staff in its Ellesmere Port plant which makes

:08:19. > :08:22.Astros. The whole plant is really worried, it is going to affect a lot

:08:23. > :08:29.of jobs in the area. There is nothing here, is there a? If

:08:30. > :08:34.Vauxhall goes. Bad, really bad. Its ban on making factory in Luton

:08:35. > :08:38.employs 1400 people. I am optimistic about the future of this plant here

:08:39. > :08:39.in Luton, but really the prospects of car manufacturing in the UK will

:08:40. > :09:06.come down to the kind of deal we get out of Brexit. In

:09:07. > :09:09.all, Vauxhall makes 200,000 cars a year. PSA has the capacity to build

:09:10. > :09:12.more cars in its own plant and it does not need these plants in

:09:13. > :09:14.Britain. There are obstacles in the way with the currency fluctuations,

:09:15. > :09:16.the problems posed by Brexit with freedom of movement and parts as

:09:17. > :09:19.well. The government says it is cautiously optimistic that it will

:09:20. > :09:21.be able to limit the job losses as a result of this deal, possibly by

:09:22. > :09:24.providing the kind of assurances it gave to Nissan in Sunderland, we do

:09:25. > :09:27.not know what those assurances are for sure, but there are quite a few

:09:28. > :09:29.British-based car makers who will be watching carefully. Only this week,

:09:30. > :09:31.Nissan said it now needs ?100 million to support a car

:09:32. > :09:33.manufacturing in the north-east. BMW said it might make battery-powered

:09:34. > :09:56.minis in Germany rather than Britain and Ford looks like it could

:09:57. > :09:58.be shedding more than 1000 jobs in Wales. So the pressure will mount on

:09:59. > :10:01.Theresa May to support the automotive sector at the very time

:10:02. > :10:02.she will be in intensive talks with the EU over Brexit. Joel Lynam, BBC

:10:03. > :10:03.News, in Luton. Sir Andy Murray has won

:10:04. > :10:05.the Dubai Championships for the first time,

:10:06. > :10:08.to clinch his first trophy of 2017. The world number one

:10:09. > :10:09.initially struggled against Spain's Fernando Verdasco,

:10:10. > :10:11.but recovered to win
