:00:20. > :00:29.of a government task force set up to support victims

:00:30. > :00:35.of the Grenfell Tower fire, in which at least 30 people died.

:00:36. > :00:41.it has been revealed that the Prime Minister will lead to meet victims

:00:42. > :00:42.of the fire at Downing Street. Frankie McCamley reports from West

:00:43. > :00:51.London. Bringing flowers, lighting candles

:00:52. > :00:55.and leaving messages at one of many churches in the area. A sombre time

:00:56. > :00:59.for people to reflect and come to terms with what has happened here.

:01:00. > :01:04.Michael used to live in Grenfell Tower and has come to pay respects

:01:05. > :01:09.to his friend affectionately nicknamed Moses. He is still

:01:10. > :01:13.missing. There's a lot of people grieving for him right now. My

:01:14. > :01:18.family and friends and relatives who I know of. He was a very loving man,

:01:19. > :01:24.you know. He always used to make sure that people were cared for and

:01:25. > :01:29.looked after. Yesterday the Queen met volunteers and residents in the

:01:30. > :01:34.community. And today in her birthday message that was reflected. It read,

:01:35. > :01:38.today is traditionally a day of celebration. This year, however, it

:01:39. > :01:43.is difficult to escape a very sombre national mood. Put to the test, the

:01:44. > :01:50.United Kingdom has been resolute in the face of adversity. Her words,

:01:51. > :01:58.followed by an impromptu minute's silence at Buckingham Palace. Just a

:01:59. > :02:02.few miles away the government task force met this morning to discuss

:02:03. > :02:08.how to help those affected by the fire. There is no from today on the

:02:09. > :02:13.ground a central operation precisely to answer all those perfectly

:02:14. > :02:16.reasonable questions that people have in these desperate

:02:17. > :02:22.circumstances. Police have confirmed at least 30 people died in the fire

:02:23. > :02:26.but that number is expected to rise. That will only happen when

:02:27. > :02:31.firefighters can safely make their way up into this charred building

:02:32. > :02:34.that once used to be home to hundreds of people. But the

:02:35. > :02:40.questions surrounding this tragedy remain an answer. How did it start,

:02:41. > :02:42.why did it spread so quickly and who, if anyone is to blame? Frankie

:02:43. > :02:45.McCamley, BBC News. Our political correspondent

:02:46. > :02:55.Emma Vardy is in Downing Street. We have heard, Emma, that the Prime

:02:56. > :03:01.Minister will be meeting some of those directly affected by this

:03:02. > :03:05.fire. That's right, here at Downing Street she will be meeting victims,

:03:06. > :03:09.volunteers and residents of Grenfell Tower is as the government tries to

:03:10. > :03:14.build trust with the local community. It follows a difficult

:03:15. > :03:17.few days as we have seen increasing hostility and anger towards

:03:18. > :03:23.ministers. Last night Theresa May had to leave the site of the

:03:24. > :03:25.Grenfell Tower under police guard. First Secretary of State Damian

:03:26. > :03:29.Green has come at defending her against what he says is unfair

:03:30. > :03:33.criticism over her empathy with victims. Theresa May has been

:03:34. > :03:38.sharing a task force of the Cabinet Office in the past hour. We expect

:03:39. > :03:41.to ship the outcome of that soon. Emma, thank you.

:03:42. > :03:54.Give us your sense, having spoken to people or morning, about what people

:03:55. > :03:58.are saying about the response, the coordination, the mood? They are

:03:59. > :04:01.still saying there's not enough communication, not enough

:04:02. > :04:05.coordination. There's supposed to be this government task force, they

:04:06. > :04:09.were told on the ground today but I've been talking to some volunteers

:04:10. > :04:12.who say they haven't seen any sign of it. In fact they say some of

:04:13. > :04:16.those made homeless by this disaster are still sleeping on floors and

:04:17. > :04:20.they say this isn't good enough. We saw that anger yesterday, community

:04:21. > :04:25.organisers have been saying they have been trying to calm that anger.

:04:26. > :04:29.In terms of the latest casualty figures we are expecting a news

:04:30. > :04:33.conference here, it was supposed to have been now, it's been delayed,

:04:34. > :04:37.that would have been with the Metropolitan Police commander Stuart

:04:38. > :04:41.Cundy. We may get an update on the casualty figures. The official total

:04:42. > :04:48.is 30, we understand that 70 are either dead or missing. 24 in

:04:49. > :04:52.hospital, 12 in critical care. Those figures may change when we get the

:04:53. > :04:56.latest from the police at the news conference this afternoon. Then,

:04:57. > :05:02.thank you. Ben Brown, in West London.

:05:03. > :05:05.As we heard, in a statement released to mark her official birthday,

:05:06. > :05:08.the Queen has said it is difficult to escape the sombre mood

:05:09. > :05:10.in the country in the wake of recent tragedies.

:05:11. > :05:12.The message comes in advance of the annual Trooping

:05:13. > :05:15.Our Royal Correspondent Nicholas Witchell is there.

:05:16. > :05:24.A slightly different tone all mood this year? Yes. The Queen's Birthday

:05:25. > :05:28.Parade, Trooping the Colour, normally the ceremonial high point

:05:29. > :05:34.of the summer. But this year, an expression of a nation's sadness.

:05:35. > :05:38.That was given expression to both in the minute's silence and in the

:05:39. > :05:42.statement issued by the Queen this morning. That minute of silence

:05:43. > :05:46.added to the programme at the last minute. At 10:45am as the Queen and

:05:47. > :05:50.the Duke of Edinburgh left Buckingham Palace bestowed for one

:05:51. > :05:58.minute in tribute to those lost at Grenfell Tower and also in the

:05:59. > :06:00.terrorist atrocities in Manchester and London. And in that statement

:06:01. > :06:02.which she issued this morning referring to the sombre national

:06:03. > :06:06.mood and recalling the fact that she visited Grenfell Tower yesterday

:06:07. > :06:10.herself, and Manchester last month, she says she was profoundly struck

:06:11. > :06:14.by the immediate inclination of people throughout the country to

:06:15. > :06:19.offer comfort and support to those in desperate need. So although this

:06:20. > :06:22.Birthday Parade, all the normal components, the margin guardsman,

:06:23. > :06:25.the fly past, the balcony appearance, Prince George and

:06:26. > :06:30.Princess Charlotte, this is rather subdued, reflecting on these recent

:06:31. > :06:33.tragedies. Nicholas Witchell, thank you.

:06:34. > :06:35.Seven US navy crew are missing after an American destroyer collided

:06:36. > :06:38.with a container ship, off the east coast of Japan.

:06:39. > :06:40.The USS Fitzgerald, which has now arrived back at port,

:06:41. > :06:44.crashed into the Phillipine vessel in the middle of the night.

:06:45. > :06:46.A major search and rescue operation is under way.

:06:47. > :06:48.The ship's commanding officer has been taken

:06:49. > :06:56.The policeman who died confronting the Westminster attacker in March,

:06:57. > :07:00.PC Keith Palmer, has been awarded a posthumous medal for bravery.

:07:01. > :07:04.He is named in the Queen's Civilian Gallantry List,

:07:05. > :07:10.released this year alongside the Birthday Honours.

:07:11. > :07:12.Among this year's honours is a knighthood for the comedian

:07:13. > :07:14.Billy Connolly, and a Damehood for Julie Walters

:07:15. > :07:21.PC Keith Palmer was killed in March's Westminster terror attack.

:07:22. > :07:25.He receives a posthumous George Medal.

:07:26. > :07:29.For PCs Craig Nicholls and Jonathan Wright,

:07:30. > :07:31.seen here arresting the man who killed MP Jo Cox, Queen's

:07:32. > :07:37.Bernard Kenny, who earlier had been injured trying to

:07:38. > :07:39.protect the MP, receives the George Medal.

:07:40. > :07:43.He just saw Jo and tried to save her and we can't thank him

:07:44. > :07:52.Unarmed, just went in, they knew he was armed, but not a thought.

:07:53. > :08:00.I'm down on record as saying why should I learn algebra?

:08:01. > :08:04.I've no intention of ever going there!

:08:05. > :08:05.In the entertainment world Billy Connolly

:08:06. > :08:07.knows his knighthood will

:08:08. > :08:15.And some of them will say, what the hell's that all about?

:08:16. > :08:22.I am a little embarrassed but deep within me I'm

:08:23. > :08:28.Terry and June and Absolutely Fabulous's June

:08:29. > :08:42.# I wonder if one day that you'll say that you care #

:08:43. > :08:45.1960s Eurovision winner Sandie Shaw becomes an MBE and the last

:08:46. > :08:47.surviving member of the famous dambusters aircrew, George "Johnny"

:08:48. > :08:49.Johnson also becomes an MBE in a list that honours

:08:50. > :08:55.With all the sport, here's Katherine Downes

:08:56. > :09:03.It's been a busy morning of rugby union, let's start with the Lions

:09:04. > :09:07.in New Zealand where they beat the Maori All Blacks 32-10.

:09:08. > :09:09.They have just one more warm-up game before they take

:09:10. > :09:21.Rotorua, on the North Island in New Zealand, is Maori heartland. And

:09:22. > :09:29.when the Lions are in town they pull out all the stops. There are

:09:30. > :09:33.thousands of people here for this world record attempt at the hacker.

:09:34. > :09:39.What's more, they are all facing the Lions team hotel. Just another

:09:40. > :09:45.reminder for the Lions, as if they needed it, orphans to have they are

:09:46. > :09:48.on. Then it was time for the Maori All Blacks, a side steeped in

:09:49. > :09:53.culture and history to lay down their own challenge. Early on the

:09:54. > :09:57.Lions were in control but as soon as their concentration wavered the

:09:58. > :10:01.Maoris were in as once again on this tour the Lions and their slightest

:10:02. > :10:05.mistakes punished. Leigh Halfpenny rarely falters inside of the posts

:10:06. > :10:10.and his kicks took the visitors into a narrow half-time lead. Their

:10:11. > :10:14.opponents returned, keen to snuff out the danger man, illegally,

:10:15. > :10:19.according to the referee. Now with a player advantage of the Lions made

:10:20. > :10:23.their pressure count. A penalty try, their first of the match. Again they

:10:24. > :10:29.punished the Maori when they were weakest, this time Maro Itoje in the

:10:30. > :10:33.pack, keeping for the line. But with power and precision of the Lions

:10:34. > :10:36.moved out of sight. The home side dominated and defeated. A morale

:10:37. > :10:42.boosting win for Warren Gatland 's players but will they have enough to

:10:43. > :10:43.pass the ultimate test in seven days' time? Katie Gornall, BBC News,

:10:44. > :10:46.Rotorua. Scotland pair Finn Russell

:10:47. > :10:48.and Allan Dell have been called up to the Lions squad

:10:49. > :10:51.after helping their country It's the first time Scotland have

:10:52. > :10:55.won a Test match in Sydney. They ran in three tries, the final

:10:56. > :10:58.score coming from Hamish Watson. The win sees Scotland move up

:10:59. > :11:01.to fourth in the world rankings. Ireland beat Japan 50-22 while

:11:02. > :11:08.England play Argentina this evening. England's women have become

:11:09. > :11:10.the world's number one side, The Red Roses had beaten

:11:11. > :11:15.Australia and Canada already Lydia Thompson, Marlie Packer

:11:16. > :11:20.and Vicky Fleetwood added second half tries to help seal

:11:21. > :11:23.a 21-29 victory. Day three of the US Open will get

:11:24. > :11:26.under way in about an hour without the world's

:11:27. > :11:29.top three golfers. Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy

:11:30. > :11:33.and Jason Day all missed the cut. Whilst they were struggling,

:11:34. > :11:36.others were making light of the huge England's Paul Casey set the early

:11:37. > :11:41.pace, finishing on 7-under. There he was joined by another

:11:42. > :11:44.Englishman, Tommy Fleetwood. They are both part of a four-way

:11:45. > :11:47.tie for the lead with the Americans Brian Harman

:11:48. > :11:53.and Brooks Koepka. That's all the sports, back to you,

:11:54. > :12:17.Jane. Thank you. That's it from us. Hello, a very good afternoon. The

:12:18. > :12:24.mercury is rising, it is turning into a hot summer's afternoon for

:12:25. > :12:26.many of us, not only hot but sunny as well. That was the view
