:00:22. > :00:28.27 high rise buildings around the country are now known to have

:00:29. > :00:30.failed fire tests on their external cladding, according

:00:31. > :00:40.Safety measures in thousands of buildings are being reviewed,

:00:41. > :00:41.following the Grenfell Tower disaster.

:00:42. > :00:44.Hundreds of people in north London spent the night in hotels

:00:45. > :00:46.and emergency accommodation after Camden Council evacuated four

:00:47. > :00:53.Our correspondent Keith Doyle is at the Chalcots estate.

:00:54. > :00:57.Yes, there has been anger and confusion amongst the thousands of

:00:58. > :01:03.residents here at the Chalcots Estate in North London, last night

:01:04. > :01:06.they were told to leave, that their homes are not safe.

:01:07. > :01:14.Why were we ordered to be evacuated at half past eight at night? After a

:01:15. > :01:18.night of destruction and little sleep residents came face-to-face

:01:19. > :01:24.with the leader of Camden Council. I am so absolutely stressed. Why were

:01:25. > :01:29.hotels not looked at before we were all evacuated? I've sat in a chair

:01:30. > :01:37.over here since nine o'clock last night and I'm 72 years old. I suffer

:01:38. > :01:41.with emphysema. Now I'm being told they can't rehouse me because I got

:01:42. > :01:47.a dog. What do they want me to do with my dog? Put it to sleep? Last

:01:48. > :01:51.night the council took the decision based on a Fire Service advice that

:01:52. > :01:56.the 4000 people living in the Chalcots Estate should be moved.

:01:57. > :02:01.Some stayed in this sense on air beds and others were sent to hotels

:02:02. > :02:09.and some decided to stay put. I really cried last night, I'm choked

:02:10. > :02:14.up now, it is dreadful. Why are you so upset? They are saying we have

:02:15. > :02:18.got to get out, the Council officials came to the door, banging

:02:19. > :02:24.on the door, get out, get out, but the chap said, no, she's not going,

:02:25. > :02:30.she's getting on for and Chicago anywhere, she's got a cat -- and

:02:31. > :02:33.Chicago anywhere. The cladding he is similar to what was on the Grenfell

:02:34. > :02:37.Tower, and the council says that, along with other fire safety

:02:38. > :02:43.factors, meant four of the blocks were not safe. Unprecedented

:02:44. > :02:45.situation, 4000 people in those blocks and the council staff and

:02:46. > :02:49.volunteers have been working through the night and we have identified

:02:50. > :02:53.hotel accommodation and temporary housing and we're working with other

:02:54. > :02:56.boroughs and the people here are moving out slowly and we're having

:02:57. > :03:00.those conversations, but of course people are tired and they have had a

:03:01. > :03:05.terrible night. We want to get people into secure accommodation as

:03:06. > :03:08.quickly as possible. The Grenfell Tower fire has changed the

:03:09. > :03:11.perception of the risk of fire in tower blocks. Urgent checks are

:03:12. > :03:17.being carried out in 600 blocks nationwide. The government says

:03:18. > :03:22.cladding on 27 blocks in 15 local authority areas has failed fire

:03:23. > :03:25.safety checks. The government is working with those local authorities

:03:26. > :03:28.affected by this issue to make sure that they are able to do what is

:03:29. > :03:34.necessary on the ground, to reassure people about the safety of their

:03:35. > :03:38.blocks. The drastic action taken by Camden Council has caused huge

:03:39. > :03:41.disruption to thousands of people and with other buildings failing

:03:42. > :03:45.fire safety checks, many more could face similar uncertainty.

:03:46. > :03:50.The council says it will take four weeks to remove the cladding and

:03:51. > :03:54.carry out other fire safety precautions and in the meantime the

:03:55. > :03:56.people here just want to be back in their homes knowing they are safe.

:03:57. > :03:59.Thanks for joining us. Our political correspondent

:04:00. > :04:01.Mark Lobel is here. Mark - 27 high rise

:04:02. > :04:04.buildings across the UK now known to be affected -

:04:05. > :04:13.it could be many more. It is a growing problem. The

:04:14. > :04:18.question is, who is going to pay for this problem? With 26 others on top

:04:19. > :04:21.of Camden, you can see how expensive Camden is all woody looking, not

:04:22. > :04:26.just rehousing, but if people stay inside the tower blocks -- is

:04:27. > :04:30.already looking. And paying for the fix itself for some the government

:04:31. > :04:33.says it will help those local authorities and housing associations

:04:34. > :04:38.that need financial help. But if you look at their situation, they have

:04:39. > :04:46.had severe budget cuts in real terms, and we know housing is scarce

:04:47. > :04:49.and four -- for emergency services that has been also cut and the

:04:50. > :04:52.government said they will help on a case-by-case basis. There is a

:04:53. > :04:57.political risk if you look at dealing with the relief effort of

:04:58. > :05:00.the kind that Grenfell Tower was, the government not coping with the

:05:01. > :05:03.demand themselves, then it might not go as well as it could and that

:05:04. > :05:08.could backfire very badly on the government. Thanks for that.

:05:09. > :05:10.Events are taking place across the country to

:05:11. > :05:15.Hundreds of serving soldiers, reservists, veterans

:05:16. > :05:17.and their families are coming together at over 300 different

:05:18. > :05:21.The main event this year is being staged in Liverpool -

:05:22. > :05:34.with a parade and a red arrows fly past.

:05:35. > :05:39.A huge rescue operation is under way in south-west China where more

:05:40. > :05:42.than a hundred people are feared to have been buried by a landslide.

:05:43. > :05:44.The search is taking place in a mountainous area

:05:45. > :05:46.of Sichuan province, close to Tibet, after the side

:05:47. > :05:57.of a mountain collapsed following heavy rain.

:05:58. > :06:00.The city of Mosul will be liberated from so called Islamic State

:06:01. > :06:02.militants within days, according to Iraq's prime minister.

:06:03. > :06:04.Around 400 IS fighters are surrounded in the centre of

:06:05. > :06:08.Our correspondent Orla Guerin has been to the front

:06:09. > :06:10.line in Mosul's Old City, along with cameraman Nicholas Hameon

:06:11. > :06:13.Her report contains images some may find distressing.

:06:14. > :06:16.A journey to the front line, our windscreen a reminder

:06:17. > :06:24.Our escort from Iraq's elite counterterrorism force.

:06:25. > :06:32.Snaking forward towards an enemy that is still inflicting casualties.

:06:33. > :06:39.Like this wounded soldier, being rushed away as we arrived.

:06:40. > :06:44.And families fleeing, too. On foot.

:06:45. > :06:47.Escaping hunger and fear, and a beloved city robbed of life.

:06:48. > :07:03.This is the old city area, it is really the heart of the battle.

:07:04. > :07:06.And when you look around here you get a real sense of how

:07:07. > :07:13.The damage is immense in every direction.

:07:14. > :07:16.The narrow streets a tight squeeze as troops close in on the last

:07:17. > :07:25.We were told the militants were just 300 metres away.

:07:26. > :07:32.Some on the receiving end of an Iraqi missile strike.

:07:33. > :07:35.The extremists are now facing defeat here but it has taken three

:07:36. > :07:41.And immense damage has been done to the fabric of Mosul

:07:42. > :07:49.Orla Guerin, BBC News, in the old city of Mosul.

:07:50. > :07:53.And I'm afraid rugby fans may wish to look away now.

:07:54. > :07:58.Holly Hamilton is at the BBC Sport Centre.

:07:59. > :08:02.It was always going to be a mammoth task and despite some sparkling

:08:03. > :08:05.moments from the British and Irish Lions - they couldn't

:08:06. > :08:08.quite edge ahead of the All Blacks at any point of the game

:08:09. > :08:13.continuing their 23-year unbeaten run at Eden Park.

:08:14. > :08:15.Our Sports Correspondent Katie Gornall was there

:08:16. > :08:26.They are routine carrying the hopes of four nations on their shoulders,

:08:27. > :08:30.the Lions might be guests in New Zealand but they don't intend to

:08:31. > :08:33.leave empty-handed -- they are a team carrying. Recent results have

:08:34. > :08:37.given these fans genuine hope but no one thinks it is going to be easy,

:08:38. > :08:43.and many will remember the 2005 series in New Zealand, a whitewash

:08:44. > :08:47.the Lions would rather forget. Once again this was a tale of underdogs,

:08:48. > :08:52.unfancied by almost everyone at the start of the tour, taking on a

:08:53. > :08:57.fearsome machine. He'll blacks just don't do defeat. The Lions made a

:08:58. > :09:01.fresh start but they face danger from every angle, a forward on the

:09:02. > :09:06.wing could well, this is New Zealand and this is total rugby. Time for

:09:07. > :09:10.the Lions to regrow, they stood firm and wriggled from the all Blacks

:09:11. > :09:14.grasp, Liam Williams was too fast and too good, justifying his

:09:15. > :09:21.surprise selection. One of the great Lions test tries finished by Sean

:09:22. > :09:25.O'Brien but created by many. 13-8 at half-time, Warren Gatland called on

:09:26. > :09:29.high-profile replacements but New Zealand ran through the tourists

:09:30. > :09:33.defence as few sides can, the Lions forced to add my New Zealand's best

:09:34. > :09:43.at their best. Mistakes were creeping in. Digby Ioane was going

:09:44. > :09:50.forward. He was not even born the last time New Zealand lost at Eden

:09:51. > :09:55.Park. These things are fixable, the doe New Zealand did not play

:09:56. > :09:58.champagne rugby, they were very direct and we have got to be better

:09:59. > :10:03.in those areas in terms of combating. They are down, but not

:10:04. > :10:05.at, and although right now rugby union's North-South divide seems

:10:06. > :10:10.bigger than ever. -- but not out. Scotland and Ireland have wrapped

:10:11. > :10:12.up their summer tours - Gregor Townsend suffered his first

:10:13. > :10:15.defeat in charge of Scotland But Ireland completed a series

:10:16. > :10:18.whitewash over Japan England are struggling

:10:19. > :10:36.in the opening match They put India into bat

:10:37. > :10:39.in Derby this morning, but their bowlers have failed

:10:40. > :10:42.to make much impact. Simriti Mandhana made

:10:43. > :10:44.a great start at the top of the order with 90 -

:10:45. > :10:47.and her fellow-opener Punam Raut Mandhana was eventually caught

:10:48. > :10:51.by Danielle Hazell off the bowling That wicket has done little to slow

:10:52. > :10:58.India's progress though, a short time ago they were 222 for 1

:10:59. > :11:01.with 8 overs remaining and look Renault have a race against time

:11:02. > :11:05.to get Jolyon Palmer into qualifying The Briton's difficult

:11:06. > :11:11.season continued in Baku when his car caught fire early

:11:12. > :11:16.in the final practice session. Max Verstappen dominated practice

:11:17. > :11:18.yesterday, but his Red Bull broke down with less than ten

:11:19. > :11:22.minutes to go. Valtteri Bottas topped

:11:23. > :11:24.the timesheets with Mercedes team Championship leader

:11:25. > :11:29.Sebastian Vettel was 12th. You can follow it on Radio 5 Live

:11:30. > :11:36.and the BBC Sport website. Petra Kvitova's form

:11:37. > :11:37.is improving dramatically, as she continues her

:11:38. > :11:47.return to tennis. In her second tournament

:11:48. > :11:49.since her hand was badly injured in a knife attack six months ago,

:11:50. > :11:52.she's reached the final Her opponent, Lucie Safarova,

:11:53. > :11:58.was forced to retire. You can see more on all of today's
