:00:23. > :00:25.27 high rise buildings around the country have failed fire safety

:00:26. > :00:27.tests on their external cladding, according to latest

:00:28. > :00:30.Thousands of buildings - including some schools and hospitals

:00:31. > :00:32.are now being checked following the Grenfell

:00:33. > :00:36.One council in North London has defended its decision to evacuate

:00:37. > :00:38.four tower blocks at extremely short notice, moving hundreds of people

:00:39. > :00:52.Our correspondet Richard Lister reports.

:00:53. > :01:00.Why was we all ordered to be evacuated at 8.30 at night. Tempers

:01:01. > :01:03.were running high today, the leader of Camden Council took the brunt of

:01:04. > :01:08.the frustration from people evacuated overnight. I am being told

:01:09. > :01:12.they can't rehouse me because I've got a dog. A hotel place was found

:01:13. > :01:16.for this woman, and her dog, but there are thousands of others,

:01:17. > :01:21.people and pets, facing weeks of uncertainty. More than 100 spent the

:01:22. > :01:24.night at this leisure centre. The cladding at four of these blocks

:01:25. > :01:29.is similar to that on Grenfell Tower, but it was issues with gas

:01:30. > :01:34.pipes and fire doors that made the Fire Service demand an evacuation.

:01:35. > :01:37.They said there was nothing that we could do to guarantee residents'

:01:38. > :01:41.safety that night. In that situation, you know, given the

:01:42. > :01:45.circumstances we are in, I thought we had to act swiftly.

:01:46. > :01:51.Peter who is 94 had to leave the flat he has had for almost 50 years.

:01:52. > :01:58.I felt sorry for people who are a lot worse than me, especially with

:01:59. > :02:02.children. They have to carry on. But there are at least 80 flats

:02:03. > :02:07.where residents are refusing to leave. I really cried last night.

:02:08. > :02:12.The council officials came to the door, banging on the door, get out,

:02:13. > :02:16.get out, but the chap round the hallway said she's not going, she is

:02:17. > :02:21.getting on for 80. She can't go anywhere, she's got a cat. Work is

:02:22. > :02:25.under way to fix the faults but it will take weeks to complete. The

:02:26. > :02:29.residents of this tower block feel themselves to be in limbo, unsure of

:02:30. > :02:33.just how dangerous this building is s and how long they might be

:02:34. > :02:37.excluded from their homes. In some cases it is possible to take

:02:38. > :02:40.mitigating action and the Fire Service are content that the blocks

:02:41. > :02:44.are safe, in others it has been necessary for people to move out on

:02:45. > :02:48.a temporary basis, that is what happened in Camden last night.

:02:49. > :02:52.Most living in these blocks have been back to get enough for an

:02:53. > :02:56.extended stay somewhere else, even as others argue there is no need to

:02:57. > :03:01.Local authorities across the UK are working urgently to identify

:03:02. > :03:04.Fire safety officers are carrying out inspections ,

:03:05. > :03:06.with suspect cladding sent for independent testing.

:03:07. > :03:08.The government has promised to meet the costs but some councils

:03:09. > :03:17.are warning they need more help, as Duncan Kennedy reports.

:03:18. > :03:25.No amount of days that pass can ease the hurt of loss felt by those left

:03:26. > :03:30.bereft by the Grenfell fire. In silence and in unity volunteers and

:03:31. > :03:35.families of some of those who died gathered today, near the tower to

:03:36. > :03:39.reflect. Not since the Second World War have

:03:40. > :03:43.so many buildings been subject to checks in the aftermath of a single

:03:44. > :03:48.fire. 27 blocks have failed safety

:03:49. > :03:53.inspections across 15 councils. Birmingham says the Government must

:03:54. > :03:57.help pay for it. Retrofitting of sprinklers should be one of our

:03:58. > :04:00.responses here, and when your Chief Fire Officer of your region tells

:04:01. > :04:04.you that, clearly as the leader of a city you have to listen to that so

:04:05. > :04:10.we started to look at the figures and it comes round ?31 million.

:04:11. > :04:14.Manchester, Plymouth, Hounslow and Portsmouth are many others are

:04:15. > :04:19.facing huge bills. The Government insists it will help on a case by

:04:20. > :04:23.case basis. If they need financial support, not

:04:24. > :04:26.all will need it, if they need it we will work with them to make sure

:04:27. > :04:32.they have the resours to do this necessary work, absolutely. That

:04:33. > :04:36.will not be put at risk. The Grenfell fire was reflected

:04:37. > :04:39.today, at Glastonbury, Jeremy Corbyn appeared on the permid stage

:04:40. > :04:45.pressing for what he calls a national Government response.

:04:46. > :04:49.Is it right that so many people are frightened of where they live at the

:04:50. > :04:57.moment, having seen the horrors of what happened in Grenfell Tower?

:04:58. > :05:02.Away from the crowds in west London, the fire continues to draw people to

:05:03. > :05:06.reflect on the disaster, and the difficulties being felt. And what

:05:07. > :05:09.all this means, is that in the ten day since Grenfell, the lives of

:05:10. > :05:14.literally thousands and thousands of people have been affected. And with

:05:15. > :05:18.more testing on cladding, fire door, pipes, and other buildings still to

:05:19. > :05:24.come, those numbers will almost certainly increase.

:05:25. > :05:27.As those checks continue, resources everywhere are being put under huge

:05:28. > :05:33.pressure, the one capacity there is no shortage of is sympathy.

:05:34. > :05:37.A cyber attack on the Houses of Parliament has targeted the email

:05:38. > :05:40.accounts of some MPs and members of the House of Lords.

:05:41. > :05:42.The parliamentary authorities said unauthorised attempts had been made

:05:43. > :05:44.to access some accounts, and measures had been taken

:05:45. > :05:49.Trading standards officers are investigating claims

:05:50. > :05:53.that the car hire company, Europcar, has been deliberately

:05:54. > :05:54.over-charging some customers for repairs.

:05:55. > :05:57.The offices of the firm in Leicester were raided yesterday after a number

:05:58. > :06:07.Iraq's Prime Minister has said the city of Mosul will be liberated

:06:08. > :06:10.from so called Islamic State militants within days.

:06:11. > :06:13.Around 400 IS fighters are surrounded in the centre of

:06:14. > :06:17.Our correspondent Orla Guerin, along with her team Nicholas Ham-eon

:06:18. > :06:19.and Firle Davies, have been to the front line in Mosul's

:06:20. > :06:31.old city - their report contains images you may find distressing.

:06:32. > :06:39.A journey to the front line. Our windscreen a reminder of the dangers

:06:40. > :06:43.ahead. Our escort, from Iraq's elite

:06:44. > :06:51.counter-terrorism force. Snaking forward towards an enemy that is

:06:52. > :06:59.still inflicting casualties. Like this wounded soldier, being

:07:00. > :07:06.rushed away as we arrived. And families fleeing too. On foot.

:07:07. > :07:15.Escaping hunger and fear, and a beloved city robbed of life.

:07:16. > :07:19.No food. No water. Mosul dead. This is the old city area, it is really

:07:20. > :07:24.the heart of the battle, and when you look around here you get a real

:07:25. > :07:31.sense of how fierce the fighting has been, the damage is immense. In

:07:32. > :07:36.every direction. The narrow streets are tight squeeze

:07:37. > :07:40.as troops close in on the last pockets of IS resistance. We were

:07:41. > :07:50.told the militants were just 300 metres away. Some on the receiving

:07:51. > :07:55.end of an Iraqi missile strike. The extremists are facing defeat

:07:56. > :08:00.here, but it has taken three years to get this far. And immense damage

:08:01. > :08:05.has been done to the fabric of Mosul, and the unity of Iraq.

:08:06. > :08:10.In China more than 120 people are missing after a massive

:08:11. > :08:11.landslide in the far west of the country.

:08:12. > :08:14.It happened in a village in Sichuan province after the side

:08:15. > :08:16.of a mountain collapsed following days of heavy rain.

:08:17. > :08:19.Five bodies have been pulled from the rubble so far.

:08:20. > :08:21.President Shee has urged rescue workers to spare no effort

:08:22. > :08:31.Rugby now, and the British and Irish Lions rose

:08:32. > :08:34.to the challenge, but the All Blacks were imperious in the first

:08:35. > :08:37.test in Auckland - New Zealand won by 30 points to 15,

:08:38. > :08:39.continuing their 23-year unbeaten run at Eden Park.

:08:40. > :08:49.Our sports correspondent, Katie Gornall, was there.

:08:50. > :08:52.They're the team with the hopes of four nations on their shoulders.

:08:53. > :08:55.The Lions may be guests in New Zealand, but they don't

:08:56. > :08:58.Recent results have given these fans genuine hope, but no-one thinks

:08:59. > :09:07.Many here will remember the 2005 series in New Zealand,

:09:08. > :09:12.a whitewash the Lions would rather forget.

:09:13. > :09:13.Once again, this was a tale of underdogs.

:09:14. > :09:16.Unfancied by almost everyone at the start of the tour,

:09:17. > :09:25.The Lions made a ferocious start, but they faced

:09:26. > :09:32.A forward on the wing, well, this is New Zealand,

:09:33. > :09:37.They stood firm and wriggled from the All Blacks' grasp.

:09:38. > :09:43.One of the greatest Lions' test tries finished by Shaun O'Brien

:09:44. > :09:48.13-8 at half-time, but the All Blacks ran

:09:49. > :09:50.through the tourists' defence as few sides can.

:09:51. > :09:53.The Lions forced to admire New Zealand's best at their best.

:09:54. > :09:58.Mistakes were creeping in and New Zealand were lurking.

:09:59. > :10:00.The 20-year-old wasn't even born the last time

:10:01. > :10:08.The All Blacks haven't played champagne rugby and throwing

:10:09. > :10:13.In fairness they were very direct up front, and so we need to make sure

:10:14. > :10:15.we are better in those areas in terms of combatting

:10:16. > :10:21.They are down but not out, although right now

:10:22. > :10:27.Rugby Union's North-South divide seems wider than ever.

:10:28. > :10:30.I'll be back with the team here for the late news at 10.20 -
