:00:07. > :00:11.34 buildings around the country have failed fire safety tests,

:00:12. > :00:13.following the Grenfell Tower fire, with hundreds more

:00:14. > :00:23.The Government says every sample of cladding from tower blocks

:00:24. > :00:25.tested in Manchester, Plymouth, Portsmouth and London has

:00:26. > :00:29.A London council defends its decision to evacuate four tower

:00:30. > :00:32.blocks that failed the tests, as the Government insists it

:00:33. > :00:36.will hep meet the huge costs councils are facing.

:00:37. > :00:43.we will work with them to make sure they have the resources they need

:00:44. > :00:56.Iraqi forces say they'll defeat the last IS fighters within days.

:00:57. > :01:01.This is the old city area, it's the heart of the battle.

:01:02. > :01:04.And when you look around here you get a real sense of how

:01:05. > :01:10.And there's no dream start for the British

:01:11. > :01:12.and Irish Lion's Down Under, as a dominant New Zealand

:01:13. > :01:37.34 high-rise buildings in England have failed fire safety tests

:01:38. > :01:39.on their exterior cladding, the Government has

:01:40. > :01:43.The buildings, in Manchester, Portsmouth, Plymouth

:01:44. > :01:46.and four London boroughs, are the first to undergo

:01:47. > :01:50.urgent checks following the Grenfell Tower disaster.

:01:51. > :01:53.Around 600 buildings are due to undergo the checks,

:01:54. > :01:55.with local authorities working urgently to indentify

:01:56. > :02:17.One more silent reflective assembly of mourners and neighbours.

:02:18. > :02:20.As these people pause, elsewhere, the now relentless checking of

:02:21. > :02:24.hundreds of tower blocks was continuing. The Government asked

:02:25. > :02:29.councils to send samples from buildings there were most concerned

:02:30. > :02:35.about. It has become clear only 34 tests on cladding have been carried

:02:36. > :02:40.out involving 17 councils. With everyone failing. The councils

:02:41. > :02:42.include Manchester, Camden, Plymouth, Hounslow, bonnet and

:02:43. > :02:47.Brent. Many send the Government must help

:02:48. > :02:52.pay for any changes they make like sprinklers.

:02:53. > :02:57.Retrofitting of sprinklers should be one of our responses. When you're

:02:58. > :03:04.Chief Fire Officer tells you that, you need to listen. We have looked

:03:05. > :03:08.at the figures, it is ?31 million. As well as cladding, fire

:03:09. > :03:13.authorities are examining exposed pipes, cable ducts, escape routes

:03:14. > :03:18.and fire doors. A huge undertaking. Not just

:03:19. > :03:25.residential blocks. Inspections are taking place in NHS buildings like

:03:26. > :03:29.Hull Royal infirmary. So is the Government saying it will

:03:30. > :03:35.pay for every safety defect? If they need financial support, we

:03:36. > :03:39.will work with them to make sure they have the resources to do this

:03:40. > :03:44.necessary work. They will not be put at risk. At

:03:45. > :03:49.Glastonbury, the music also gave way to talk of safety in tower blocks.

:03:50. > :03:54.Jeremy Corbyn demanding the Government in his words get a grip.

:03:55. > :04:00.The Prime Minister needs to come to Parliament again to describe what is

:04:01. > :04:05.going on, and needs an emergency approach including the use of Cobra

:04:06. > :04:10.to put the resources together now. Back at the scene of the disaster,

:04:11. > :04:15.there was no dwindling in numbers coming to absorb the scale of the

:04:16. > :04:20.horror and pay their respects. What's all this means is in the ten

:04:21. > :04:25.days since the Grunfeld tower disaster, the lives of thousands of

:04:26. > :04:29.people have been affected. With more testing on fire doors and other

:04:30. > :04:33.buildings still to come, those numbers will almost certainly

:04:34. > :04:38.increase. Tonight, as the Government called

:04:39. > :04:42.for more planning samples to be submitted, it seems even now no one

:04:43. > :04:45.knows just how big the consequences of the men felt tower file will be.

:04:46. > :04:57.-- Hundreds of people who were evacuated from tower blocks

:04:58. > :05:01.in Camden in north London are spending a second night

:05:02. > :05:05.Some spoke of panic and confusion as they were ordered to leave

:05:06. > :05:07.the Chalcots Estate last night, when fire chiefs decided

:05:08. > :05:11.Our correspondent Richard Lister has spent the day in Camden.

:05:12. > :05:13.The Chalcots Estate tower blocks seemed to offer a safe home

:05:14. > :05:15.for thousands of people for many years.

:05:16. > :05:24.Why were we all ordered to evacuate at 8:30pm at night?

:05:25. > :05:26.Tempers were running high today, the leader of Camden Council took

:05:27. > :05:30.the brunt of frustration from people evacuated overnight.

:05:31. > :05:33.I'm being told they can't rehouse me because I've got a dog.

:05:34. > :05:36.A hotel place was found for this woman and her dog.

:05:37. > :05:38.There are thousands of others, people and pets, facing

:05:39. > :05:45.The four blocks affected have cladding similar to that

:05:46. > :05:48.on Grenfell Tower but the residents were told other issues like gas

:05:49. > :05:56.Our gas pipes are hidden behind this old metal door way so we can't

:05:57. > :05:59.I'm not sure what the issue really is.

:06:00. > :06:04.They all seem in place, the doors are there.

:06:05. > :06:07.That is one of the other issues, reasons we have been given

:06:08. > :06:19.Peter Bertram who is 94 had to leave the flat he has live

:06:20. > :06:23.I feel sorry for people who are a lot worse than me,

:06:24. > :06:28.There are at least 80 flats where residents

:06:29. > :06:33.The council officials came to the door, banging on the door.

:06:34. > :06:39.The chap around the hallway said, no, she's not going.

:06:40. > :06:42.She's getting on for 80, she can't go anywhere, she's got a cat.

:06:43. > :06:48.Many residents have been asking why they had to leave

:06:49. > :06:55.The council says the Fire Service gave them no choice.

:06:56. > :06:57.They said there was nothing we could do to guarantee

:06:58. > :07:01.In that situation, given the circumstances we are in,

:07:02. > :07:09.Work is under way to fix the faults but it will take weeks to complete.

:07:10. > :07:13.The residents of this tower block feel themselves to be in limbo,

:07:14. > :07:16.unsure of how dangerous this building is, and how long they might

:07:17. > :07:21.As they are finding out, there are thousands of people

:07:22. > :07:26.across the country facing exactly the same questions.

:07:27. > :07:29.For some in Camden, another night on air beds in the leisure centre.

:07:30. > :07:33.Most have accepted they won't be home for a while.

:07:34. > :07:36.But the council is warning those refusing to leave it may

:07:37. > :07:38.have to force them out for their own safety.

:07:39. > :07:45.Our political correspondent Eleanor Garnier is here.

:07:46. > :07:54.both our reports very clear on the social cost, the financial cost

:07:55. > :07:59.escalating. The latest update, an increasing

:08:00. > :08:06.number of these tests are failing the fire safety tests.

:08:07. > :08:10.100% failure rate. Just 34 of the 600 tower blocks which have

:08:11. > :08:13.initially been identified have only been tested.

:08:14. > :08:18.Clearly there is a long way to go. Sajid Javid has said cladding itself

:08:19. > :08:23.is not dangerous and just because a building may have failed the test it

:08:24. > :08:25.does not mean it will have to be evacuated.

:08:26. > :08:31.He has said public safety is priceless. The question asked is

:08:32. > :08:36.what does that mean? In Camden, people are spending a second night

:08:37. > :08:41.away from their homes. The council has put aside ?600,000 so far.

:08:42. > :08:46.Birmingham, the council leader is putting aside ?31 million to fit

:08:47. > :08:51.sprinklers to their 200 tower blocks. He is calling on the

:08:52. > :08:56.Government to stump up the cash. Labour and the Lib Dems calling on

:08:57. > :09:00.the Government to put a special fund to support people being evacuated.

:09:01. > :09:07.In the last few minutes, a source sent has said it is a fast moving

:09:08. > :09:09.situation -- from number ten. And it was working with Camden and

:09:10. > :09:11.others. A cyber attack on the Houses

:09:12. > :09:14.Of Parliament has targeted the email accounts of some MPs and members

:09:15. > :09:17.of the House Of Lords. Officials have called it a sustained

:09:18. > :09:19.and determined operation and said they had disabled remote access

:09:20. > :09:22.to emails in order to Trading standards officers

:09:23. > :09:30.are investigating claims that the car hire company

:09:31. > :09:32.Europcar has deliberately overcharged some

:09:33. > :09:33.customers for repairs. The offices of the firm in Leicester

:09:34. > :09:36.were raided yesterday after a number Hundreds of civilians have been

:09:37. > :09:47.freed from the old city in Mosul, The country's Prime Minister says

:09:48. > :09:51.Mosul will be liberated within days, as his military has surrounded

:09:52. > :09:56.around 400 IS fighters. Our correspondent Orla Guerin,

:09:57. > :09:59.along with her team Nicholas Hameon and Firle Davies, have been

:10:00. > :10:01.to the front line Their report contains images

:10:02. > :10:08.you may find distressing. A journey to the front line,

:10:09. > :10:10.our windscreen a reminder Our escort from Iraq's elite

:10:11. > :10:21.counter-terrorism force. Snaking forward towards an enemy

:10:22. > :10:27.that is still inflicting casualties. Like this wounded soldier

:10:28. > :10:36.being rushed away as we arrived. And families fleeing, too, on foot,

:10:37. > :10:39.escaping hunger and fear, This is the old city area, it is

:10:40. > :10:56.really the heart of the battle. And when you look around

:10:57. > :10:59.here you get a real sense of how The damage is immense

:11:00. > :11:07.in every direction. The narrow streets, a tight squeeze

:11:08. > :11:11.as troops close in on the last We were told the militants

:11:12. > :11:19.were just 300 metres away. Some on the receiving end

:11:20. > :11:32.of an Iraqi missile strike. Our history is here, he says,

:11:33. > :11:35.and we have to get it back. We have been fighting house

:11:36. > :11:38.to house, and room to room, against snipers and foreign

:11:39. > :11:44.fighters, including Chechens. Nearby, troops relax within sight

:11:45. > :11:48.of the bodies of IS militants. In the streets, they

:11:49. > :11:58.ruled with terror. The extremists are now facing defeat

:11:59. > :12:01.here, but it has taken three And immense damage has been done

:12:02. > :12:07.to the fabric of Mosul Orla Guerin, BBC News,

:12:08. > :12:15.in the old city of Mosul. In China, more than 120 people

:12:16. > :12:17.are missing after a massive landslide in the far west

:12:18. > :12:20.of the country. It happened in a village in Sichuan

:12:21. > :12:23.province after the side of a mountain collapsed

:12:24. > :12:25.following days of heavy rain. 15 bodies have been pulled

:12:26. > :12:28.from the rubble so far. President Xi has urged rescue

:12:29. > :12:30.workers to spare no effort With all the sport,

:12:31. > :12:38.here's Katherine Downes The British and Irish Lions lost

:12:39. > :12:47.the first Test of their tour There were flashes of

:12:48. > :12:50.brilliance from the tourists, but the World Champions won easily,

:12:51. > :12:53.30 points to 15. They're a team carrying the hopes

:12:54. > :13:01.of four nations on their shoulders. The Lions may be guests

:13:02. > :13:04.in New Zealand but they don't intend Recent results have given these fans

:13:05. > :13:11.genuine hope but no one thinks it's going to be easy,

:13:12. > :13:14.and many here will remember the 2005 series in New Zealand,

:13:15. > :13:16.a whitewash the Lions Once again, this was a tale

:13:17. > :13:22.of underdogs, unfancied by almost everyone at the start of the tour,

:13:23. > :13:28.taking on a fearsome machine. The Lions made a ferocious

:13:29. > :13:34.start but they faced Well, this is New Zealand

:13:35. > :13:42.and this is total rugby. They stood firm and then wriggled

:13:43. > :13:46.from the All Blacks' grasp. Liam Williams, too fast and too

:13:47. > :13:50.good. One of the great Lions Test tries,

:13:51. > :13:52.finished by Sean O'Brien 13-8 at half-time,

:13:53. > :13:55.but the All Blacks, with Rieko Ioane, ran

:13:56. > :13:58.through the tourists' The Lions forced to admire

:13:59. > :14:03.New Zealand's best at their best. The 20-year-old wasn't

:14:04. > :14:08.even born the last time The All Blacks haven't played

:14:09. > :14:16.champagne rugby, throwing In fairness to them,

:14:17. > :14:21.they were very direct up front. We have got to be better

:14:22. > :14:24.in those areas in terms Although, right now,

:14:25. > :14:35.rugby union's north-south divide Scotland finished their summer tour

:14:36. > :14:40.with defeat to Fiji. They were beaten 27-22,

:14:41. > :14:41.while Ireland completed a series whitewash of Japan,

:14:42. > :14:48.winning 35-13. England's women suffered a shock

:14:49. > :14:50.defeat in their opening match They were beaten by 35 runs

:14:51. > :15:07.by India, and now need to do better The need Derby's great canopy, the

:15:08. > :15:14.World Cup began. The most difficult stock can be the big step forwards.

:15:15. > :15:16.But consider these circumstances. Professional women's cricketers,

:15:17. > :15:24.proper prize money, and the hose is bobbed around by a 20-year-old,

:15:25. > :15:28.Smriti Mandhana. She did the business in the middle. There she

:15:29. > :15:37.goes again. 90 from 72 balls on her debut. She had seized the moment.

:15:38. > :15:42.India celebrating at lunchtime, why wouldn't they? Scoring 281. To beat

:15:43. > :15:47.that, England would have to score like never before.

:15:48. > :15:54.They were batting. They had never chased a total that big to win. Who

:15:55. > :16:01.would stay in? 42-2. Heather Knight on 46 had to push it. Oh, no, run

:16:02. > :16:06.out. Fran Wilson in her first World Cup match played the best innings of

:16:07. > :16:12.her career. The last ten overs, England needed 76 but those runouts

:16:13. > :16:19.kept coming. Wilson gone 81. England since all

:16:20. > :16:24.out for 246. England's big day, the opportunity was grabbed by India.

:16:25. > :16:26.Lewis Hamilton earned his 66th pole position today,
