:00:20. > :00:24.Donald Trump's spokesman Sean Spicer has said he had

:00:25. > :00:27.to resign from the post - because there would be "too many

:00:28. > :00:32.He announced his departure after the President appointed

:00:33. > :00:39.It comes as Mr Trump's son - and other key officials -

:00:40. > :00:41.face questioning in Congress - about their links to Russia.

:00:42. > :00:54.Just six months in into his presidency, Donald Trump and his

:00:55. > :01:01.administration are beset by creasees. Most damaging, the growing

:01:02. > :01:05.scandal of the Russian interference into the election, allegedly to help

:01:06. > :01:10.Donald Trump into the White House. In response, big changes are now

:01:11. > :01:14.under way in the Trump team. His Press Secretary, the latest to leave

:01:15. > :01:25.the White House. The new senior figures in the

:01:26. > :01:27.communication department are Anthony Scaramouchie, and Sarah

:01:28. > :01:32.Huckerby-Sanders. I think it was in the best interests

:01:33. > :01:37.of the communications department, to not have too many cooks in the

:01:38. > :01:42.kitchen. So I think that is a good quality. They need the team here

:01:43. > :01:47.that work so hard, so material Lesley to advance the President's

:01:48. > :01:50.agenda to have clear leadership. I thought it would be confusing having

:01:51. > :01:56.additional people at the top. This is one of the people who now

:01:57. > :02:03.poses the biggest threat to the Trump administration. Robert

:02:04. > :02:06.Mueller, overseeing the investigation into the alleged links

:02:07. > :02:12.between the Russian government and Trump's campaign team. Next week

:02:13. > :02:17.Donald Trump's son and son-in-law, are due to testify. The White House

:02:18. > :02:21.is in urgent need of a beefed up team to defend itself.

:02:22. > :02:24.Donald Trump is getting ready for a scorched earth campaign. They will

:02:25. > :02:29.fight hard against the investigation coming closer to the things that

:02:30. > :02:35.make the White House uncomfortable. Sean Spicer was not a good Press

:02:36. > :02:39.Secretary, or an especially honest man but he was somebody recognisably

:02:40. > :02:44.from the familiar world of political communication.

:02:45. > :02:47.Donald Trump has always dismissed the allegations of collusion with

:02:48. > :02:51.the Kremlin. But the investigation is closing in

:02:52. > :02:55.steadily, putting him under intense pressure.

:02:56. > :02:58.Here the government plans to introduce a registration system

:02:59. > :03:00.for drones because of growing concern about the risk

:03:01. > :03:04.Drone owners will have to complete a safety awareness course.

:03:05. > :03:06.Dozens of near misses have been reported in the past year,

:03:07. > :03:19.Gatwick Airport has confirmed that some flights have been disrupted

:03:20. > :03:24.this evening by a drone in the area. Not the first time a drone had flown

:03:25. > :03:30.close to a runway but enough to close down Gatwick Airport for a

:03:31. > :03:35.short while three weeks ago. Pilots have long complained that

:03:36. > :03:39.unmanned vehicles could fly into their engines, causing accidents.

:03:40. > :03:44.Drones are being used to fly drugs and mobile phones into prisons and

:03:45. > :03:50.now the government wants to act by forcing all drone users to register.

:03:51. > :03:55.The new rules mean that any drone weighing more than 250 grams would

:03:56. > :04:00.be registered and the owners to complete a safety awareness test

:04:01. > :04:04.when they buy them. And new technology to prevent drones flying

:04:05. > :04:08.near airports and prince to be expanded.

:04:09. > :04:13.It can be a danger to aircraft and individual users, so we need a

:04:14. > :04:16.registration scream, this is about geolocations and fencing to stop

:04:17. > :04:20.them being flown near sensitive areas. It is about getting the

:04:21. > :04:24.balance right between the needs of the users and the dangers on the

:04:25. > :04:28.other part. The government wants drones of more

:04:29. > :04:33.than 250 grams to be registered. But that is no heavier than a mobile

:04:34. > :04:39.phone. But military experts say that drones as light as 400 grams can

:04:40. > :04:45.damage a helicopter wind urics and drones of two kilograms can take

:04:46. > :04:49.down a plane. But drones enthusiasts say that the rules may penalise the

:04:50. > :04:53.responsible users. The problem is the users without the

:04:54. > :04:59.knowledge, who don't know how to fly, that they buy the drone and go

:05:00. > :05:03.up in the sky maybe 1,000 feet high. This is the problem. Not us, that

:05:04. > :05:07.are the problem. And the new rules will be hard to

:05:08. > :05:12.police. Criminals are unlikely to sign up to a public register and

:05:13. > :05:15.anyone importing drones from abroad will not be covered.

:05:16. > :05:17.Councils in England say they're having to find temporary

:05:18. > :05:19.accommodation for more than 900 children each

:05:20. > :05:20.month, because more families are becoming homeless.

:05:21. > :05:23.The Local Government Association says the number needing help has

:05:24. > :05:25.increased by a third in three years and councils must be

:05:26. > :05:30.allowed to build "genuinely affordable homes" to help.

:05:31. > :05:33.The ruling body of cycling in the UK will vote this

:05:34. > :05:36.afternoon on whether, or not, to accept a new code of conduct

:05:37. > :05:40.British Cycling has been warned that funding worth tens of millions

:05:41. > :05:42.of pounds could be withdrawn if it does not introduce new

:05:43. > :05:50.Boots has apologised, for dismissing calls to cut the cost

:05:51. > :05:53.of its contraceptive morning-after pills.

:05:54. > :05:55.The pharmacy had refused to drop the price of the medicines,

:05:56. > :05:57.because it claimed that doing so would "incentivise

:05:58. > :06:02.Today, the firm apologised for what it described as its 'poor

:06:03. > :06:07.choice of words' and said it would look for cheaper brands.

:06:08. > :06:11.Campaigners have welcomed the move, but say it should have come sooner.

:06:12. > :06:14.Our only disappointment is that it's taken this long,

:06:15. > :06:17.and really the threat of a boycott by its customers for Boots,

:06:18. > :06:28.This was a position reached by Superdrug and Tesco far earlier.

:06:29. > :06:34.Let's speak to our correspondent Andy Moore.

:06:35. > :06:44.How did Boots find itself taking a moral position on extra ception?

:06:45. > :06:49.This was an effective campaign launched, why is it women in France

:06:50. > :06:56.can buy the drugs for ?5, when here they cost five or six times more.

:06:57. > :07:00.Tesco and drug listened and Superhalved their prices but Boots

:07:01. > :07:07.refused, saying it could incentivise inappropriate behaviour. The

:07:08. > :07:11.campaign was taken up by 30 Labour women MPs who wrote, choosing it to

:07:12. > :07:15.giving advice to women taking a moral position on a personal choice.

:07:16. > :07:20.That story got into the papers. Late last night, the company had a change

:07:21. > :07:26.of heart, saying it was truly sorry for its poor choice of words. One of

:07:27. > :07:31.the Labour MPs who signed the letter yesterday said: Welcome news but

:07:32. > :07:32.shame Boots responded the morning-after!

:07:33. > :07:36.Now with all the sport, here's Olly Foster at

:07:37. > :07:46.I do hope it is not like that for the Open?

:07:47. > :07:49.The early starters are out on the course at Royal Birkdale

:07:50. > :07:52.Jordan Spieth has a two-shot lead, the American starts his third

:07:53. > :07:56.Let's head live to the course, our sports correspondent

:07:57. > :08:00.Andy, much better weather forecast for the weekend and that will give

:08:01. > :08:02.the chasing pack a fighting chance and that includes

:08:03. > :08:12.Yes, Ollie, after the truly horrible conditions we had yesterday, much

:08:13. > :08:19.more placid for the golfers today. A lot of the early starters are going

:08:20. > :08:27.nicely indeed. Among them local hero, Tommy Fleetwood. He only just

:08:28. > :08:35.made the halfway cut after a bad first round but is currently

:08:36. > :08:40.4-under, 1-over, overall. The only signs is that there could be low

:08:41. > :08:43.scores. But the big question is can anyone catch Jordan Spieth? Two

:08:44. > :08:48.shorts clear after a brilliant round yesterday. Lots of big names in the

:08:49. > :08:53.chasing pack, including Ian Poulter, who had to qualify for the

:08:54. > :08:57.championship and Rory McIlroy who is rediscovering his best form after a

:08:58. > :09:03.bad start on Thursday. The leaders are going out at 3.55pm. An

:09:04. > :09:06.It's been a challenging week for the British divers

:09:07. > :09:08.at the World Aquatics Championships with the team winning

:09:09. > :09:12.Tom Daly and Matty Lee go later in the ten metre platform.

:09:13. > :09:15.Tomorrow it's the start of the swimming programme

:09:16. > :09:17.and Olympic champion, Adam Peaty, will be

:09:18. > :09:23.Our Olympic reporter Nick Hope went to meet him

:09:24. > :09:34.Phuket, a peaceful part of the world, a place to play but also

:09:35. > :09:39.prepare. It's great to get a different

:09:40. > :09:45.locations, especially around Asia. In one camp, you are in the same

:09:46. > :09:49.place, the same accommodation. It is easier for the team to bond.

:09:50. > :09:56.Do you feel like a leader? Yes. 100%. When you go to the Olympics

:09:57. > :10:01.and win, you are looked up to. I am blessed to be in this position.

:10:02. > :10:03.Hopefully to go to the World and to be in the team, you can attack the

:10:04. > :10:12.titles. One change? It's a British line, I

:10:13. > :10:16.am patriotic. I am proud and strong. So this reminds me what it took to

:10:17. > :10:22.get that Olympic gold, that world record.

:10:23. > :10:29.Adam Peaty's life is unrecognisable to 12 months ago. A household name

:10:30. > :10:40.in the UK and even here, a true global superstar. He is more

:10:41. > :10:45.motivated than ever. He aims to lower his record, 53.13 seconds. The

:10:46. > :10:51.target has a title. Project 56. Sweating more, bleeding

:10:52. > :10:56.more. I've achieved a life time dream but I want more. To leave a

:10:57. > :11:02.legacy, to break the world record, to get down to where no-one will

:11:03. > :11:03.get, ever. Given the achievements to date, few

:11:04. > :11:09.Given the achievements to date, few doubt he has the potential.

:11:10. > :11:11.You can follow the Aquatics Championships on the BBC Sport

:11:12. > :11:13.website, a very busy day with the golf of course.

:11:14. > :11:16.You can also follow Chris Froome's progress, see if he keeps hold

:11:17. > :11:19.of his yellow jersey at the Tour de France, it's the penultimate stage

:11:20. > :11:22.and you can also follow the World Para Athetics Championships

:11:23. > :11:35.In the last hour, Manchester City have agreed a ?52 million deal for a

:11:36. > :11:41.You can see more on all of today's stories on the BBC News Channel.

:11:42. > :11:43.The next news on BBC One is at 6.15pm.

:11:44. > :11:58.Good afternoon. Today's is one of the days you cab not guarantee any

:11:59. > :12:00.weather at any one time. We have lots of showers dotted around the

:12:01. > :12:04.country. The winds are lighter than

:12:05. > :12:07.yesterday. It was a blustery day across the south-west of the

:12:08. > :12:10.country. Here is the satellite picture. The

:12:11. > :12:16.low pressure is over us, swirling around. Here are the showers. The

:12:17. > :12:22.cloud. And more so over the north of England and into Scotland. Showers

:12:23. > :12:25.almost anywhere but one wore places, the north of Scotland, Stornaway and

:12:26. > :12:31.Northern Ireland where it will be dry through the course of the day. A

:12:32. > :12:37.cool day. The showers die away tonight so lots of clear spells.

:12:38. > :12:41.Also a few pockets of rain. By early Sunday morning, the temperatures

:12:42. > :12:45.ranging from 12 to 14 Celsius. Tomorrow, starting off sunny. Once

:12:46. > :12:49.the sun is out, the showers start to grow. A sunny morning, then the

:12:50. > :12:54.clouds bubbling up with the downpours.

:12:55. > :12:58.It is like popcorn with the sun giving the energy for the showers to

:12:59. > :13:03.develop. Some heavy but fewer of them tomorrow. But it does not

:13:04. > :13:09.reduce the risk of catching one. Let's look at sporting weather. For

:13:10. > :13:12.the Open, in Birkdale, closer to the coast, probably staying dry but for

:13:13. > :13:16.Lord's a greater chance of catching a shower and temperatures about into

:13:17. > :13:20.the low 20s. The weather on Monday, the low

:13:21. > :13:28.pressure over us right now will have moved into the near continent, so

:13:29. > :13:34.somewhere, let's say Luxembourg, taking its deluxe weather with it,

:13:35. > :13:39.we are left with better weather in the eastern parts of the UK. But

:13:40. > :13:42.still wind from the north and cloud but the weather improving heading

:13:43. > :13:43.into Tuesday. From Wednesday it
