:00:21. > :00:27.A man has been charged with murder after a car was driven into a crowd

:00:28. > :00:29.in the American city of Charlottesville, killing one woman

:00:30. > :00:39.The attack followed a day of violence in the city involving

:00:40. > :00:42.white nationalist protesters and anti-racist demonstrators.

:00:43. > :00:48.President Trump has been criticised for failing to explicitly condemn

:00:49. > :01:01.Late last night, a vigil for the victims of what politicians are

:01:02. > :01:04.calling an act of domestic terror. There have been cross-party

:01:05. > :01:09.condemnation, not just of the attack, but also be President's

:01:10. > :01:12.response to it. It came during a day of disturbances sparked by one of

:01:13. > :01:17.the biggest public gatherings of the far right in the United States in

:01:18. > :01:22.decades. Brawls broke out with counterdemonstrators. And then

:01:23. > :01:28.this... A car turned into a deadly weapon.

:01:29. > :01:35.This was the moment the vehicle ploughed into antiracism protesters.

:01:36. > :01:39.One woman was killed and 19 others were injured. The attack has shocked

:01:40. > :01:48.not just Charlottesville, but the country. The car hit some people and

:01:49. > :01:53.then it backed up so it could gain momentum so it could go faster. And

:01:54. > :01:58.it just smashed into dozens of people. There are at least a dozen

:01:59. > :02:02.people directly hit by the car. A 22-year-old man has now been

:02:03. > :02:06.arrested and charged with murder. President Trump's response to the

:02:07. > :02:11.day was a swift condemnation of what he called hatred, bigotry and

:02:12. > :02:13.violence on many sides. But many Republicans and Democrats have

:02:14. > :02:16.called on him to speak out explicitly against white

:02:17. > :02:21.supremacist, in their words, to call evil by its name. There is now

:02:22. > :02:26.growing alarm over the rise of the far right. I have a message to all

:02:27. > :02:31.the white supremacists and the Nazis came to Charlottesville today. Our

:02:32. > :02:38.message is plain and simple. Go home. You are not wanted in this

:02:39. > :02:41.great Commonwealth. Shame on you. Many in the states are concerned

:02:42. > :02:46.that the far right has been emboldened by the Trump presidency.

:02:47. > :02:49.Yesterday's rally was attended by neo-Nazi sympathisers as well as

:02:50. > :02:54.members of the Ku Klux Klan. I will be back and we will all be back.

:02:55. > :02:58.What happened in Charlottesville has been a major domestic test for the

:02:59. > :03:02.president. He's now under pressure over violence here and what the

:03:03. > :03:06.house Democratic leader has called the shameful reality of white

:03:07. > :03:09.supremacist in America today. Caroline Hawley, BBC News.

:03:10. > :03:13.The UK will need a transition period to help businesses

:03:14. > :03:15.adjust after Brexit, the Chancellor and the International

:03:16. > :03:20.In a joint article for the Sunday Telegraph,

:03:21. > :03:23.Philip Hammond and Liam Fox stressed any deal would not be

:03:24. > :03:27.indefinite or a "back door" to staying in the EU.

:03:28. > :03:30.The two men have previously put forward opposing views on Brexit.

:03:31. > :03:44.Two senior government ministers with two very different approaches to

:03:45. > :03:48.leaving the European Union. Liam Fox, an enthusiastic Brexiteer, and

:03:49. > :03:52.Philip Hammond, the voice of caution in Cabinet. But now an apparent show

:03:53. > :03:56.of unity. Reiterating that breaks it would mean leaving the single market

:03:57. > :04:00.that allows free trade and movement of people, and leaving the customs

:04:01. > :04:04.union, that sets EU wide import tariffs. Writing a joint peace in

:04:05. > :04:07.the Sunday Telegraph, the two ministers say the economy needs to

:04:08. > :04:15.stay strong through Brexit. That means businesses need to have

:04:16. > :04:18.confidence, they say, that there will not be a cliff edge when we

:04:19. > :04:21.leave the EU in just over 20 months' time. This is why they believed

:04:22. > :04:24.time-limited interim period will be important to further our national

:04:25. > :04:29.interest and give business greater certainty. But it cannot be

:04:30. > :04:34.indefinite, they say. It cannot be a back door to staying in the EU. It

:04:35. > :04:38.sounds worryingly to me that the price Philip Hammond has had to pay

:04:39. > :04:41.for a transitional arrangement has been to sign up to as leaving the

:04:42. > :04:46.single market and Customs union. I think that is a dreadful mistake for

:04:47. > :04:51.the future of our economy, for jobs and prosperity in Britain. With this

:04:52. > :04:54.article Liam Fox and Philip Hammond are hoping to reassure both those

:04:55. > :04:58.concerned the government is dragging its feet on Brexit, and those

:04:59. > :05:04.worried about the potential impact a sudden exit from the EU could have.

:05:05. > :05:06.A united front is important if the government is to get what it wants

:05:07. > :05:09.from negotiations with EU officials in Brussels. This week we will hear

:05:10. > :05:15.in more detail what Brexit will look like. The government will publish

:05:16. > :05:19.position papers setting out its plans for, firstly, the border

:05:20. > :05:23.between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. And how goods

:05:24. > :05:26.can continue to be sent between the UK and EU countries. Negotiations

:05:27. > :05:30.begin again in Brussels at the end of this month. Brexit secretary

:05:31. > :05:31.David Davis has said himself that time is of the essence. Jonathan

:05:32. > :05:36.Blake, BBC News. In Nepal, the number of people

:05:37. > :05:39.killed in the floods and landslides caused by the torrential rain over

:05:40. > :05:42.the past two days has reached 49. Elephants and rafts have been sent

:05:43. > :05:45.to rescue nearly five hundred tourists trapped in lodges

:05:46. > :05:47.near the Chitwan National Park area. Transport networks and power

:05:48. > :05:49.supplies are also thought to have been disrupted

:05:50. > :05:55.in the worst affected areas. Learner drivers are to be allowed

:05:56. > :05:59.on to motorways in England, Scotland and Wales for the first

:06:00. > :06:02.time from next year. The Department for Transport

:06:03. > :06:05.said lessons must be in a dual-control car

:06:06. > :06:09.with an approved driving instructor. Currently only those who have

:06:10. > :06:11.passed their test can Transport Secretary Chris Grayling

:06:12. > :06:15.said the lessons would CCTV footage has emerged

:06:16. > :06:22.of the moment a house A woman was inside the semi-detached

:06:23. > :06:33.property in Sunderland when the blast happened

:06:34. > :06:36.on Friday morning. It's understood that she was

:06:37. > :06:42.protected by a fridge It's the last day of

:06:43. > :06:47.the World Athletics Championships following on from a night of drama

:06:48. > :06:52.in the stadium. Mo Farah missed out on gold

:06:53. > :06:54.in his final championship race and Usain Bolt pulled up injured

:06:55. > :06:59.in his final race. But it was glory for Britain's men's

:07:00. > :07:02.100 metres relay team. Here's our Sports

:07:03. > :07:08.Correspondent Andy Swiss. One night, so many emotions,

:07:09. > :07:15.but for British athletics, The men's relay was supposed to be

:07:16. > :07:20.Usain Bolt's golden goodbye but these Championships have rarely

:07:21. > :07:30.followed the script. Mitchell-Blake trying to hang on.

:07:31. > :07:32.It's going to be tight. It's going to be gold!

:07:33. > :07:35.As Britain's dazzling gold sank in, Bolt sank to the track,

:07:36. > :07:37.cramp ending his career in the cruellest fashion.

:07:38. > :07:38.COMMENTATOR: The greatest ever athlete faltering

:07:39. > :07:43.For the hosts though it was a picture of perfection

:07:44. > :07:47.and this morning they reflected on a breathtaking win.

:07:48. > :07:54.I waited for the time to come up on the screen.

:07:55. > :08:03.We've all dreamt of this since we came to the sport.

:08:04. > :08:09.It's just very surreal and I just have to pinch myself this

:08:10. > :08:15.If the crowd was excited, just watch the British women's relay team.

:08:16. > :08:21.It was a night of double celebration.

:08:22. > :08:23.Moments earlier they'd sprinted to a superb silver

:08:24. > :08:31.COMMENTATOR: USA, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Jamaica.

:08:32. > :08:33.THere was also silver for Sir Mo Farah in his

:08:34. > :08:43.In recent years, he's faced questions

:08:44. > :08:45.about his controversial coach Alberto Salazar who was under

:08:46. > :08:47.investigation by US anti-doping authorities and this morning,

:08:48. > :08:49.he criticised the media for their treatment of him.

:08:50. > :08:52.What I have achieved is through hard work and sometimes you guys get

:08:53. > :08:59.to me at certain times, because you never write the fact.

:09:00. > :09:06.The fact is, over the years, I have achieved through hard work and pain.

:09:07. > :09:09.This was not the end to his career Sir Mo Farah had hoped for,

:09:10. > :09:11.but after a night when medals finally flowed, Britain

:09:12. > :09:18.will hope to end these Championships with more success.

:09:19. > :09:25.Sir Mo Farah very unhappy in that press conference, saying some in the

:09:26. > :09:28.media had tried to destroy his reputation. Sir Mo Farah now

:09:29. > :09:33.concentrating on marathon running. As far as today is concerned, Moore

:09:34. > :09:39.hopes of medal success with Laura Muir going in the final of the 5000

:09:40. > :09:45.metres. Tom Bosworth in the 20 kilometre race walk. And also be 400
