0:00:28 > 0:00:30Good afternoon.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32Labour's Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell has called on all the main

0:00:32 > 0:00:35political parties to agree a new independent system to tackle

0:00:35 > 0:00:36sexual harassment at Westminster.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38Mr McDonnell said the recent allegations of misconduct by MPs

0:00:38 > 0:00:40was distressing and was undermining the public's confidence

0:00:40 > 0:00:45in the political system.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47Last night, the Conservative MP Charlie Elphicke was suspended

0:00:47 > 0:00:49from the party after it said "serious allegations" had been

0:00:49 > 0:00:57referred to the police.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59Mr Elphicke said he'd done nothing wrong.

0:00:59 > 0:01:04Our political correspondent Emma Vardy reports.

0:01:04 > 0:01:09Charlie Elphicke, the Conservative MP for Dover since 2010 is no longer

0:01:09 > 0:01:14a Tory MP, at least for now. Last night the new Chief Whip Julian

0:01:14 > 0:01:26Smith issued a statement... Charlie Elphicke's anger at how he'd been

0:01:26 > 0:01:32treated was clear. He tweeted...

0:01:36 > 0:01:41Meanwhile there are still serious questions for Labour about the

0:01:41 > 0:01:44suspended MP Kelvin Hopkins. Jeremy Corbyn is under pressure to answer

0:01:44 > 0:01:48why he was promoted to the Shadow Cabinet even after he was

0:01:48 > 0:01:52reprimanded following complaints of sexual misconduct from a young

0:01:52 > 0:01:57Labour activist. Mr Hopkins has said he denies the allegations. Today the

0:01:57 > 0:02:01party leadership said thorough investigations must now take their

0:02:01 > 0:02:06course to reassure the public. We've got to ensure there is confidence in

0:02:06 > 0:02:10the investigation process, both from those expressing their concerns and

0:02:10 > 0:02:16complaints, but also those accused as well. I'm hoping now we can start

0:02:16 > 0:02:19giving the confidence back to people because we are establishing this

0:02:19 > 0:02:25independent process. And the Labour MP Clive Lewis has

0:02:25 > 0:02:28strongly denied groping women at the Labour Party conference back in

0:02:28 > 0:02:33September. The allegations that have come to light over the past week are

0:02:33 > 0:02:36wide-ranging, from a touch on the knee the accusations of rape, and

0:02:36 > 0:02:41party officials are braced for what could come next, but as the claims

0:02:41 > 0:02:44and counterclaims mount up a veteran of British politics has called for

0:02:44 > 0:02:49balance, saying that this unfolding sex scandal is becoming a witchhunt.

0:02:49 > 0:02:54I don't think there is anybody who would seek to defend rape or sexual

0:02:54 > 0:03:00abuse. In the context, there is no proof that I can see yet of any

0:03:00 > 0:03:03wrongdoing. How does a Member of Parliament refute that? It's a

0:03:03 > 0:03:08witchhunt.Political parties want to be seen to be acting quickly.

0:03:08 > 0:03:13Theresa May is due to meet party leaders on Monday to discuss the way

0:03:13 > 0:03:17forward. A culture change is taking place in British politics that many

0:03:17 > 0:03:28say has been long overdue. Emma Vardy, BBC News.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Police in New York say they have a viable case

0:03:30 > 0:03:32against the Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34The announcement came after an actress, Paz de la Huerta,

0:03:34 > 0:03:36made claims that Mr Weinstein raped her twice in 2010.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39She is among dozens of women who have come forward since October

0:03:39 > 0:03:41to accuse the 65-year-old of sexual misconduct.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43He has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.

0:03:43 > 0:03:44Richard Galpin reports.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46Recent weeks have seen a torrent of allegations

0:03:46 > 0:03:47against Harvey Weinstein.

0:03:47 > 0:03:57And now comes the first word of a possible arrest.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00New York detectives following up are investigating a claim

0:04:00 > 0:04:03by the Hollywood actress Paz de la Huerta that the former movie mogul

0:04:03 > 0:04:07raped her twice back in 2010 - and she has now spoken to the CBS

0:04:07 > 0:04:12network in the United States.

0:04:35 > 0:04:37The New York police say her account is credible.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39We have an actual case here.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41We are happy with where the investigation is right now.

0:04:41 > 0:04:42Mr Weinstein is out of state.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45We would need an arrest warrant to arrest him.

0:04:45 > 0:04:46So right now we're gathering our evidence,

0:04:46 > 0:04:50we continue to do so every day.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52Already some of Hollywood's biggest names, among them

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie, have come forward to

0:04:54 > 0:04:56accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment.

0:04:56 > 0:04:58He issued a statement emphatically denying any allegation

0:04:58 > 0:05:00of nonconsensual sex.

0:05:00 > 0:05:02Mr Weinstein is now under investigation both

0:05:02 > 0:05:04in the United States and here in Britain.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06Like ripples in a pond, and accusations of misconduct

0:05:06 > 0:05:09against men of wealth and influence appear to be growing rapidly.

0:05:09 > 0:05:19Richard Galpin, BBC News.

0:05:26 > 0:05:28Netflix has cut all ties with Kevin Spacey, who plays

0:05:28 > 0:05:30the lead role in one of its most successful

0:05:30 > 0:05:31programmes, House of Cards.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34The company said it would no longer be involved in the series

0:05:34 > 0:05:36if the actor continued to be part of it.

0:05:36 > 0:05:38The announcement came after Mr Spacey faced allegations

0:05:38 > 0:05:47of sexual misconduct from a number of men.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49The Lebanese prime minister, Saad Al-Hariri, has resigned saying

0:05:49 > 0:05:52in a live television broadcast that he fears for his life.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54In his address he also heavily criticised Iran, saying the country

0:05:54 > 0:05:56was sowing "fear and destruction" in several countries

0:05:56 > 0:05:57including in Lebanon.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59Mr Hariri's father, a former prime minister,

0:05:59 > 0:06:01was assassinated in 2005, and he says he feels

0:06:01 > 0:06:11there are current plots to target his life too.

0:06:18 > 0:06:21Only around a half of fixed speed cameras in the UK

0:06:21 > 0:06:22are actually switched on, according to figures

0:06:22 > 0:06:24obtained through a Freedom of Information request.

0:06:24 > 0:06:26And at least four police forces don't have any fixed

0:06:26 > 0:06:28speed cameras at all.

0:06:28 > 0:06:29Alan Clayton reports.

0:06:29 > 0:06:30For motorists caught out by them, they infuriate

0:06:30 > 0:06:32and bring a hefty fine.

0:06:32 > 0:06:34Safety campaigners argue speed cameras are lifesavers.

0:06:34 > 0:06:36New research suggests only around half of the luminous boxes

0:06:36 > 0:06:38throughout the UK are operational.

0:06:38 > 0:06:40The Press Association sent a Freedom of Information request

0:06:40 > 0:06:42to all of the 45 forces, asking how many fixed

0:06:42 > 0:06:44speed cameras they had and how many were active.

0:06:44 > 0:06:47The 36 which responded had a total of 2838 cameras,

0:06:47 > 0:06:57of which only 52% were working.

0:06:57 > 0:07:00Forces in Cleveland, Durham and North Yorkshire said none

0:07:00 > 0:07:01of their fixed speed cameras were active.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04While Northamptonshire said it turned its cameras off six years ago

0:07:04 > 0:07:06but left them in place to deter speeding.

0:07:06 > 0:07:09Those than replied said they used mobile speed cameras and regularly

0:07:09 > 0:07:18reviewed which cameras were turned on.

0:07:18 > 0:07:20I suspect in this case, they're thinking that the yellow boxes

0:07:20 > 0:07:23are there, they're sending out the message that motorists ought

0:07:23 > 0:07:25to be recognising about risky roads, but they're also increasingly

0:07:25 > 0:07:28looking to more advanced technology such as average speed cameras,

0:07:28 > 0:07:30or indeed better engineering of the road, which might

0:07:30 > 0:07:40have a more beneficial affect.

0:07:43 > 0:07:45The National Police Chiefs Council said the decision to use cameras

0:07:45 > 0:07:47was an operational matter and that all forces have individual

0:07:47 > 0:07:49responsibility for their use of the cameras.

0:07:49 > 0:07:59Alan Clayton, BBC News.

0:08:00 > 0:08:01With all the sport, here's Mike Bushell

0:08:01 > 0:08:03at the BBC Sport Centre.

0:08:03 > 0:08:05Good afternoon.

0:08:05 > 0:08:14What's happening in the football. -- a lot happening in the football.

0:08:14 > 0:08:16The Scottish champions Celtic are hoping to break a 100-year-old

0:08:16 > 0:08:19British and club record run, of 62 domestic games

0:08:19 > 0:08:20without defeat.

0:08:20 > 0:08:22They're taking on St Johnstone, this lunch time, who were ironically

0:08:22 > 0:08:24the last Scottish side to beat them.

0:08:24 > 0:08:26They're approaching half time at McDiarmid Park.

0:08:26 > 0:08:28Scott Sinclair has ended his own goal drought to put Celtic on course

0:08:28 > 0:08:29for that record.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31Just one point seperates them, in the Premier League and there's

0:08:31 > 0:08:34not much to chose between Stoke and Leicester City in this

0:08:34 > 0:08:35lunchtime's kick-off.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37Riyad Mahrez has just given Leicester the lead.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39Leicester haven't lost since September, and new manager

0:08:39 > 0:08:42Claude Puel is looking for a second win.

0:08:42 > 0:08:47And they are on course for that!

0:08:47 > 0:08:50From pub team to the first round of the FA Cup in ten years -

0:08:50 > 0:08:52that's the story of Shaw Lane Association,

0:08:52 > 0:08:54who are taking on league side Mansfield this lunchtime.

0:08:54 > 0:09:02The part-timers from Barnsley have ridden their luck at times,

0:09:02 > 0:09:05and had their goalkeeper John Stewart and post to thank early

0:09:05 > 0:09:07on, to keep the scores level, heading towards half time.

0:09:07 > 0:09:15But the Shah Lane resistance was finally broken, Christian Pearce,

0:09:15 > 0:09:25and the Stags, as they are known in Mansfield, are ahead.

0:09:25 > 0:09:28In the racing world, Ted, Ruby and Katie Walsh are as part

0:09:28 > 0:09:31and parcel of the jump season, as the Cheltenham Gold Cup

0:09:31 > 0:09:32and Becher's Brook.

0:09:32 > 0:09:33As the National Hunt calendar begins again,

0:09:37 > 0:09:40with the Walsh's to find out, the secret to their success.

0:09:40 > 0:09:46For Slate, and as the jump season gets underway there is a sense of

0:09:46 > 0:09:51anticipation for racing's first family. Ted, Ruby and Katie Walsh

0:09:51 > 0:09:55know that glory may lie ahead and it is here at their yard in County

0:09:55 > 0:10:02Kildare, Ireland, that plans are forged. With the morning's work

0:10:02 > 0:10:06done, time for breakfast...All the horses are back in, new recruits,

0:10:06 > 0:10:11and you don't really know if something is really good or

0:10:11 > 0:10:14anything's good at the minute, so it is time to find out really what you

0:10:14 > 0:10:19have for the rest of the season, isn't it?And the family knows a

0:10:19 > 0:10:25thing or too much about what makes a good horse Papillon cleared the

0:10:25 > 0:10:35notorious fences to win the Grand National 17 years ago. Katie then

0:10:35 > 0:10:40went on to finish third in 2012 on sea bass, a race that captivates

0:10:40 > 0:10:48them still. Is editor couple of times. A chance to win this.

0:10:52 > 0:10:57were thinking. LAUGHTER

0:10:57 > 0:11:02That would happen me! LAUGHTER

0:11:02 > 0:11:06Now 38, Ruby Walsh has written over 2000 winners and broken a lot of

0:11:06 > 0:11:09bones along the way, something he feels is simply an occupational

0:11:09 > 0:11:13hazard.Loads of different things in the world people do that high risk.

0:11:13 > 0:11:23When I joined the the Navy... It would have been worse as a kid, my

0:11:23 > 0:11:28bladder, spleen that ruptured, you don't need it, so they just took it

0:11:28 > 0:11:33out, away you go, move on.With or without all their body parts, the
