0:00:24 > 0:00:25Good evening.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27Tens of thousands of people have been marching in

0:00:27 > 0:00:29the Zimbabwean capital, Harare, and in the second

0:00:29 > 0:00:31city, Bulawayo, calling on President Mugabe to step down.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34Crowds have been singing at the gates of the President's

0:00:34 > 0:00:35official residence, urging him to go.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38Mr Mugabe has been under virtual house arrest since the army took

0:00:38 > 0:00:42control of the country four days ago.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44The country's ruling party, Zanu-PF has said it'll dismiss

0:00:44 > 0:00:46Mr Mugabe as its leader tomorrow and reinstate the ousted

0:00:46 > 0:00:47vice-president.

0:00:47 > 0:00:57Our Africa eitor, Fergal Keane, reports from Harare.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02Something happened inside the people today.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04A shared energy that helped them into the streets.

0:01:04 > 0:01:12They were there on the big streets and small.

0:01:12 > 0:01:20A common purpose in a place so long divided.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23Voices that wouldn't have dared speak of Robert Mugabe a few

0:01:23 > 0:01:28days ago now sound his political Requiem.

0:01:28 > 0:01:33We have waited for this for 37 years!

0:01:33 > 0:01:36You have come back from England, you are happy to see this,

0:01:36 > 0:01:37I'm sure.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39Indeed, I am very happy.

0:01:39 > 0:01:44This is a new beginning for the people of Zimbabwe.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47What I am seeing here is the death of a dictator.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49All of the faces of the nation came into

0:01:49 > 0:01:51Harare.

0:01:51 > 0:01:56Joy was unrestrained.

0:01:56 > 0:02:00And exuberantly expressed.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02Who knows what freedom the military coup will

0:02:02 > 0:02:04deliver?

0:02:04 > 0:02:07But an army that was once an instrument of oppression is now

0:02:07 > 0:02:11celebrated.

0:02:11 > 0:02:15This tells you everything, this is what the people

0:02:15 > 0:02:24are thinking in Harare.

0:02:24 > 0:02:29Fear has been cast off and expectations awakened. Watching the

0:02:29 > 0:02:35march I met this man, a participant Dick with a young family. Dough you

0:02:35 > 0:02:40believe the army will allow you to be free?Yes,If they don't?Well,

0:02:40 > 0:02:44it is difficult for them not to allow us to be free because we have

0:02:44 > 0:02:51been free, we just never exercise our freedom.

0:02:51 > 0:02:55Viva the people of Zimbabwe. Those who forced this moment include many

0:02:55 > 0:02:58ho were ardent supporters of Robert Mugabe. Now they call for the

0:02:58 > 0:03:02departure of the President and his wife.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06The people of Zimbabwe have spoken, and the people of Zimbabwe have said

0:03:06 > 0:03:12you and your husband should go to die and not -- today and not

0:03:12 > 0:03:16tomorrow.Robert Mugabe is under intense pressure, yet this afternoon

0:03:16 > 0:03:25was refusing to stand down. At one of his official residences

0:03:25 > 0:03:28the army was pushing back demonstrators but they would not

0:03:28 > 0:03:32leave the area. So people are very angry and they

0:03:32 > 0:03:37want to get through, past these army lines, to this official residence,

0:03:37 > 0:03:41one of the President's official residence, man told me we want to

0:03:41 > 0:03:46get in and tell these people what we think of them.

0:03:46 > 0:03:50Everybody here is now certain that the moment of Robert Mugabe's

0:03:50 > 0:03:53departure is drawing near.

0:03:53 > 0:03:54departure is drawing near.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57Let's go live now to our Senior Africa correspondent,

0:03:57 > 0:04:00Anne Soy, who's in Harare.

0:04:00 > 0:04:09What is the likelihood then, of Robert Mugabe resigning?Up until

0:04:09 > 0:04:14now, our understanding is that Mr Mugabe refuses to stand down,

0:04:14 > 0:04:19insisting that this is a coup even though the Muntari says it is not.

0:04:19 > 0:04:24He says by stepping down he would be legitimising an unconstitutional

0:04:24 > 0:04:31process and so is ready to continue leading until the elections we are

0:04:31 > 0:04:35scheduled for next year, there are allegations that are joon going,

0:04:35 > 0:04:41Beckett there will be more pressure on him to resign, tomorrow we expect

0:04:41 > 0:04:46a party meeting within his ruling party, to, in a meeting that is

0:04:46 > 0:04:50expected that may recall him as the party leader and that will have

0:04:50 > 0:04:55kick-started the process of removing him, as head of state, already the

0:04:55 > 0:04:59regional organs of that party have voted, have passed a vote of no

0:04:59 > 0:05:03confidence, against the President. OK, thank you.

0:05:03 > 0:05:04OK, thank you.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06The new leader of Scottish Labour has promised to offer voters

0:05:06 > 0:05:08what he called "a message of real hope".

0:05:08 > 0:05:11Richard Leonard, a Jeremy Corbyn supporter who was elected

0:05:11 > 0:05:13to Holyrood 18 months ago, replaces Kezia Dugdale.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15She's to take part in the reality TV show, "I'm a Celebrity,

0:05:15 > 0:05:17Get Me out of Here."

0:05:17 > 0:05:25Here's our Scotland editor, Sarah Smith.

0:05:25 > 0:05:27APPLAUSE.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29Electing Richard Leonard as their leader marks a left turn

0:05:29 > 0:05:32for the Scottish Labour Party as he becomes their fourth leader

0:05:32 > 0:05:34in just three years.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37There is now a settled consensus, established around a radical policy

0:05:37 > 0:05:44agenda, for the Scottish Labour Party.

0:05:44 > 0:05:47Richard Leonard was only elected to the Scottish Parliament last year.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49He is a Yorkshireman, a former trade union organiser

0:05:49 > 0:05:53and a committed Corbyn loyalist.

0:05:53 > 0:05:56There are times in the past where it has appeared

0:05:56 > 0:05:58that the Scottish Labour Party has looked to pick fights

0:05:58 > 0:05:59with Jeremy Corbyn.

0:05:59 > 0:06:01I won't be doing that.

0:06:01 > 0:06:03We can't afford the luxury of splits and divisions,

0:06:03 > 0:06:05we need to work together, and I am determined

0:06:05 > 0:06:08that the Scottish Labour Party, from whom today I have received

0:06:08 > 0:06:10a mandate, will be working closely and in step with Jeremy Corbyn

0:06:10 > 0:06:17and the entire Labour Party.

0:06:17 > 0:06:19Anas Sarwar was the more moderate candidate in

0:06:19 > 0:06:24what was a fractious race.

0:06:24 > 0:06:27I think it is obvious to see at times this campaign has been

0:06:27 > 0:06:29conducted in the most comradely way.

0:06:29 > 0:06:32I would hope we can come together as a Labour Party now and focus

0:06:32 > 0:06:35on the real opponents - that is the SNP and the Tories.

0:06:35 > 0:06:37The Labour Party are facing a substantial challenge in Scotland.

0:06:37 > 0:06:40They are in third place behind the SNP and the Tories.

0:06:40 > 0:06:43They are going to have to fight hard to even regain their place

0:06:43 > 0:06:45as the official opposition in the Scottish Parliament.

0:06:45 > 0:06:48And they are going to have to win a lot more Scottish seats

0:06:48 > 0:06:51if Jeremy Corbyn is ever going to form a government

0:06:51 > 0:06:52in Westminster.

0:06:52 > 0:06:55On our way out, the departing leader Kezia Dugdale has sprung a surprise.

0:06:55 > 0:06:59She is to appear on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, a decision that

0:06:59 > 0:07:01has been sharply criticised of members of her own party.

0:07:01 > 0:07:09Sarah Smith, BBC News.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11Police have confirmed four men were killed when two

0:07:11 > 0:07:12aircraft collided yesterday near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15The BBC understands that was one of four men killed

0:07:15 > 0:07:21was Captain Mike Green.

0:07:21 > 0:07:23He was in the helicopter.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26Air crash investigators have spent the day at the scene.

0:07:26 > 0:07:29Police say it is still too early to say how it happened.

0:07:29 > 0:07:32All the families have now been informed and are being supported

0:07:32 > 0:07:34by specialist officers in the family liaison arena.

0:07:34 > 0:07:39Three of the families have visited the site today, with our support,

0:07:39 > 0:07:42so they can understand a bit more about what has happened

0:07:42 > 0:07:46to their loved ones.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48It's been another afternoon of Autumn Rugby internationals,

0:07:48 > 0:07:55Ireland are currently playing Fiji in Dublin and Scotland are hosting

0:07:55 > 0:07:56World Champions New Zealand.

0:07:56 > 0:07:58Earlier Wales were given a scare in their first

0:07:58 > 0:08:00international against Georgia, winning by 13 points

0:08:00 > 0:08:02to six, and at Twickenham, from where our correspondent

0:08:02 > 0:08:04Joe Wilson reports, it was close run affair

0:08:04 > 0:08:05between England and Australia.

0:08:05 > 0:08:08The bricks and mortar are the same but English Rugby Union is now

0:08:08 > 0:08:12defined by an Australian.

0:08:12 > 0:08:15Eddie Jones has rebuilt it all with a cautious smile.

0:08:15 > 0:08:17Eyeing up the posts, Owen Farrell, back in the starting

0:08:17 > 0:08:18line-up, partly to do this.

0:08:18 > 0:08:24On a day of persistent drizzle, any points were gratefully received.

0:08:24 > 0:08:26Australia's coach simmered with officials at half-time.

0:08:26 > 0:08:28He had two players in the sin bin.

0:08:28 > 0:08:32But it was back to 15 versus 15 when an England clearance kick

0:08:32 > 0:08:35suddenly turned into attack.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37Rugby's eternal unpredictable is the bounce of the ball.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39Australia's Kurtley Beale waited for it to go out and,

0:08:39 > 0:08:42yet, Daley kept it in.

0:08:42 > 0:08:45And the England player had just enough energy to finish it off.

0:08:45 > 0:08:46From one end to the other.

0:08:46 > 0:08:48Replays agonised over the touchline.

0:08:48 > 0:08:52The ball stayed in, the try stood.

0:08:52 > 0:08:55Much of the second half got stuck in replays.

0:08:55 > 0:08:57As Australia crossed the line, officials decided

0:08:57 > 0:08:59the bald-headed maul was offside.

0:08:59 > 0:09:04In the way, no try.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06Coach Michael Cheika choked.

0:09:06 > 0:09:08And England chased towards the try line again, Jonathan Jones

0:09:08 > 0:09:09diffusing the conditions.

0:09:09 > 0:09:11Wet grass was made for this.

0:09:11 > 0:09:12The match had slipped from Australia.

0:09:12 > 0:09:15Johnny May scored a try and then made one for Danny Care.

0:09:15 > 0:09:16Suddenly, England have 30 points.

0:09:16 > 0:09:20To win in this style could make anyone smile.

0:09:22 > 0:09:28Yes, and so coach Eddie Jones retains his perfect record. He has

0:09:28 > 0:09:33won every match as England coach. He did admit perhapses it was

0:09:33 > 0:09:35flattering the score line towards England but stressed it showed the

0:09:35 > 0:09:39importance of keeping going for the full 80 minutes in a rugby

0:09:39 > 0:09:45international. It was very tight to the finish in -- Cardiff as well as

0:09:45 > 0:09:50an experimental Welsh side beat Georgia by 13-6. In Edinburgh

0:09:50 > 0:09:54Scotland have made a strong start so far against New Zealand, the All

0:09:54 > 0:09:57Blacks look if they could force a victory that would be the store riff

0:09:57 > 0:10:02of the day. Maybe the story of year, but the drizzle has almost stopped

0:10:02 > 0:10:04here, on a
