:01:09. > :01:11.the campaign which will lead them to the White House, and for Donald

:01:12. > :01:16.Trump it is all about Florida, and that is where he was today.

:01:17. > :01:21.If Hillary Clinton were to be elected it would create

:01:22. > :01:25.an unprecedented and protracted constitutional crisis.

:01:26. > :01:32.Haven't we been through a lot with the Clintons?

:01:33. > :01:38.Hillary Clinton will hit the Key western states of Arizona and

:01:39. > :01:41.Nevada, but the current president was campaigning on her behalf in

:01:42. > :01:46.North Carolina. He left little doubt about how important it was for

:01:47. > :01:49.people to get to the polls. I hate to put pressure on you, but the fate

:01:50. > :01:58.of the republic rests on your shoulders. The fate of the world is

:01:59. > :02:05.teetering and you, North Carolina, I don't have to make sure that we push

:02:06. > :02:11.it in the right direction. That is quite a burden to the Asian people.

:02:12. > :02:16.-- that is quite a burden for those young people.

:02:17. > :02:19.For more on the state of the race and those crucial swingstates both

:02:20. > :02:22.nominees are vying to win, I spoke a brief time

:02:23. > :02:23.ago with Alex Altman, Washington Correspondent

:02:24. > :02:29.The president is the anyone having fun in this campaign. He has had a

:02:30. > :02:35.good time, needling Donald Trump, telling people they can do better

:02:36. > :02:42.than this. -- the only one having fun. He also said it was a question

:02:43. > :02:47.of voting for Hillary Clinton to protect the Obama legacy. That is

:02:48. > :02:50.the centrepiece of the Clinton campaign, they are trying to

:02:51. > :02:57.reassemble the coalition which Obama has built by turning out his panic

:02:58. > :03:05.and African-American voters -- Hispanic. I was in North Carolina

:03:06. > :03:09.yesterday. Everyone was talking about the fact there is early voting

:03:10. > :03:16.and the number of African Americans voting early is down on 2012 and

:03:17. > :03:22.2008. Will they turn out in the numbers that she needs? The same

:03:23. > :03:26.case in Florida. It remains to be seen, difficult to pass early voting

:03:27. > :03:30.numbers, because you know people are going to the polls but you don't

:03:31. > :03:33.know the percentage of people who will be given to the polls on

:03:34. > :03:41.election day and you don't know who they are voting for. -- driven. What

:03:42. > :03:44.about the map at the moment? Over the last week we have spoken about

:03:45. > :03:50.e-mails and WikiLeaks, and she had bad news with Obama care price

:03:51. > :03:58.spikes. It has been a bad week for the Clintons, but it is not ready

:03:59. > :04:03.changed. Donald Trump still has a task on his hands. In some of the

:04:04. > :04:06.key battle ground state, we are seeing the race tightening and

:04:07. > :04:16.Donald Trump is catching up. Could he turn enough voters to get to 270?

:04:17. > :04:20.Still unlikely? The race is tightening, but at the same time

:04:21. > :04:25.there are very few polls that have shown Donald Trump making inroads in

:04:26. > :04:32.some of the firewalls that Clinton has built. Wisconsin. Yes, states

:04:33. > :04:38.which have never shown Donald Trump in the lead, Colorado, Virginia, the

:04:39. > :04:42.Clinton campaign feels very good about them. Donald Trump is doing

:04:43. > :04:47.better in the Midwestern battle grounds, but he needs to make

:04:48. > :04:52.inroads and there are states he needs to win, Florida, North

:04:53. > :04:56.Carolina, North Carolina is a state that the Clinton team feels very

:04:57. > :05:06.good about. She has an advantage when it comes to the electoral map.

:05:07. > :05:08.You can't say this map >> STUDIO: -- you can't say this race is boring,

:05:09. > :05:12.right? That is right. Well, among the few issues which has

:05:13. > :05:15.broken through in this election is the loss of American jobs

:05:16. > :05:18.and what to do about it. The concerns are pronounced

:05:19. > :05:20.in the state of West Virginia where for decades

:05:21. > :05:22.coal has been king. Now the industry is suffering

:05:23. > :05:24.and Hillary Clinton's call to move away from fossil fuels is causing

:05:25. > :05:27.concern and driving support The BBC's Michelle Fleury has

:05:28. > :05:30.been to Boone County, The Appalachian mountains

:05:31. > :05:33.of West Virginia, with its thick canopy of trees, it's hard

:05:34. > :05:36.to believe this is the heart In just seven years,

:05:37. > :05:39.coal production in the David Green lost his coal

:05:40. > :05:44.job in April. The mines is for the money

:05:45. > :05:51.and the guaranteed money. I mean, you get good

:05:52. > :05:54.wages, a little risky, I would not support Hillary because

:05:55. > :06:04.she is dead against the coal. And Donald is the best

:06:05. > :06:07.of the two evils. Many here feel left

:06:08. > :06:12.behind, forgotten. Coal jobs have been crushed

:06:13. > :06:14.by technology, cheaper natural gas With each mine closure

:06:15. > :06:20.and each bankruptcy, there have been more jobs lost,

:06:21. > :06:22.and that's meant more pain Pro-coal West Virginia used to be

:06:23. > :06:28.out-and-out unionised But Bill Clinton was the last

:06:29. > :06:34.Democratic presidential Nowadays folk here are

:06:35. > :06:40.turning to Donald Trump. There's a lot of talk in these parts

:06:41. > :06:48.of President Obama's war on coal. Many, like out of work miner

:06:49. > :06:51.Bo Copley, blame him Well, when you have a president

:06:52. > :06:58.who says we're not going to make it illegal to mine coal,

:06:59. > :07:00.but we're going to bankrupt people if they want to use coal-fired power

:07:01. > :07:03.plants, it's pretty personal here. And when you have a candidate

:07:04. > :07:05.who says things like, we're going to put a lot of coal

:07:06. > :07:08.businesses and coal miners out of business,

:07:09. > :07:10.that's very personal here. Many people in the region feel

:07:11. > :07:18.abandoned by politicians, even those fighting against the coal

:07:19. > :07:22.industry like activist Maria Gunnoe. We built this country,

:07:23. > :07:25.we built this country from the coal that's been mined out of the ground

:07:26. > :07:27.that has made the steel and powered this country,

:07:28. > :07:32.throughout this country. And we are owed something more

:07:33. > :07:41.than the pollution and the poverty. Few here expect the coal industry

:07:42. > :07:44.to return to its glory days. But Donald Trump is offering hope

:07:45. > :07:50.to a group who don't feel politicians in

:07:51. > :07:53.Washington speak for them. Michelle Fleury, BBC

:07:54. > :08:06.News, West Virginia. That is a complaint from a lot of

:08:07. > :08:10.Americans who have suffered a loss of Manor factoring jobs. --

:08:11. > :08:15.manufacturing. Well, whoever wins the White House -

:08:16. > :08:18.one of the most urgent challenges awaiting them will be working out

:08:19. > :08:21.to deal with Russia. Relations between Washington

:08:22. > :08:23.and Moscow haven't been this tense Our Moscow correspondent

:08:24. > :08:25.Steve Rosenberg reports. Three American presidents

:08:26. > :08:31.with one thing in common. They've all had to deal

:08:32. > :08:35.with this man. Vladimir Putin, the face of Russian

:08:36. > :08:41.politics for more than 16 years. He started out, or so it had seemed,

:08:42. > :08:46.America's friend. But smiles turned to suspicion

:08:47. > :08:51.when the Kremlin launched a crackdown on political

:08:52. > :08:55.opponents, like this tycoon. The US grew disillusioned

:08:56. > :08:57.with the Russian leader and he Over the invasion of Iraq,

:08:58. > :09:04.and Washington's unilateral withdrawal from the

:09:05. > :09:17.antiballistic Missile Treaty. At one point, the US

:09:18. > :09:20.and Russia did try to When anti-government street

:09:21. > :09:24.protests erupted in Russia, Vladimir Putin claimed that

:09:25. > :09:36.Washington was behind them. He said the same about

:09:37. > :09:37.Ukraine's revolution. The US condemned Moscow

:09:38. > :09:39.for annex in Crimea, While, over Syria, US -

:09:40. > :09:42.Russia tensions have reached Today, the image read Amir Putin

:09:43. > :09:46.projects to the world a strong leader who believes he is right

:09:47. > :09:51.and America's wrong, a Russian president who wants

:09:52. > :09:54.to change the balance of power So, how will the new man or woman

:09:55. > :09:59.in the White House deal with that? By cooperating with the Kremlin,

:10:00. > :10:01.says Donald Trump. If we get along well,

:10:02. > :10:10.that would be good. He'd rather have a puppet

:10:11. > :10:14.as president of the United States. Hillary Clinton is more

:10:15. > :10:22.hard line on Russia. The Russians have engaged in cyber

:10:23. > :10:30.attacks against America that you encouraged espionage

:10:31. > :10:32.against our people, that you are willing

:10:33. > :10:34.to spout the Putin live. But history shows that once

:10:35. > :10:37.an election is over, rhetoric gives And the reality is there needs to be

:10:38. > :10:41.a dialogue between a US President And there is no sign

:10:42. > :11:04.of Vladimir Putin vacating that Iraqi forces are closing in on the

:11:05. > :11:09.Islamic State stronghold of Mosul and they are now moving street to

:11:10. > :11:12.street, clearing areas of Islamic State militants who have been

:11:13. > :11:19.putting up a fierce resistance. Aid agencies have warned that civilians

:11:20. > :11:26.are in danger and it is not clear how they are going to escape.

:11:27. > :11:31.We are on the outskirts of the city, and the city centre is that way.

:11:32. > :11:35.As you can see, the road is now full of dozens and dozens,

:11:36. > :11:37.possibly hundreds of families who have been living under the yoke

:11:38. > :11:45.Many of them have been asked to leave for their own safety,

:11:46. > :11:47.many of them want to leave, because for them it's

:11:48. > :11:51.For many of these women that you're seeing here,

:11:52. > :11:53.this is the first time they've been out of their homes

:11:54. > :11:58.Some of the women we've spoken to said they couldn't even go up

:11:59. > :12:01.onto the roof tops to hang out washing for fear of being punished

:12:02. > :12:04.These people have been trapped between two warring parties

:12:05. > :12:12.Immediate peace isn't an immediate prospect.

:12:13. > :12:15.But at least life for many of them will be a little better soon.

:12:16. > :12:21.The big question is, where do they go now?

:12:22. > :12:25.A quick look at other news from around the world.

:12:26. > :12:27.There have been more chaotic scenes in Hong Kong's legislative assembly,
